Here's a cool video I captured of Surrounded By Thieves playing one of the better songs off of their new CD Prophecies Of Greed last Sunday @ the Double Clown. OK, now the Negative. Fake email accounts are cute. I don't know that I'm worth the effort, but whatever. You don't care what I thought about PRB, and I don't care what you think about anything. You can't put too much validity in someone's opinion when they don't have the merit to stand behind it. And this Nazi shit has got to stop pronto. Look, I don't know or care what's the deal with F.S.P. and the racist actions of members past and present. One guy calling himself Old Dude had the balls to go public with his opinion about the whole situation (click here to read his comment, and my reply) but everyone I'm running into has an opinion on it, but no one wants to go Public with it, so whatever, and I've heard the stories about Johnny Bangs, both Positive and Negative, but I don't know if I should give a shit about it. It's not like F.S.P. are gigging steady or still eschewing all that White Power bullshit, but if they are, then they should be called out on it, but if they're not, then I say let sleeping dogs lie. We all did stupid shit in the past for whatever reason, and everyone deserves a second chance. Well, almost everyone anyways... heh heh

I really don't think I can do it. I really can't. There was just too much fun stuff going on this past weekend for me to even compute what all happened and how fun it was! LOL From running into supposed 'mortal enemies' who just came up to me and were like 'Hey Gilby - what's up?', to making people run away from where I was at and hide from me (seriously, WTF???), the oriental Angel that fell from Heaven right into my lap @ Carl's Jr. (ask Bob about that one), and oh, the people who tip toed around me and acted like I wasn't even there, acted like they didn't even see me, that was the funniest shit of them all. Yeah. There was Music involved this weekend too, with me catching a fantastic set from D.I. @ the Aruba on Sat. night, and also that opening band Kids On Fire were fucking cool too. I think they're from Seattle, check them out.  Death By Stereo were pretty sick as well, and I watched their set from the backstage area while breaking my kit down. I saw a few of the Mapes at the Aruba as well, checking out the Maxies, who everybody told me were really good. Coming all that way from Iceland, CA., they better be! ;-) Oh, and that band Trash Monsters, from CA., total ass clowns. They fucking sucked big time.

I played 2 gigs this weekend with Guilty By Association, and I think I did OK. At least that's what people told me anyways... heh. I was totally spazzing out about playing the songs right and at the right tempo, but the important people who know the bands songs said we sounded great, so I felt pretty good about it all once things were said and done. Again, don't ask me because I don't know what my status with the band is. Mike told the crowd at the Aruba that I was filling in, so whatever. At both gigs I couldn't hear shit, couldn't see shit, and was totally floundering like a fish out of water trying to play everything correctly. I did the best I could. :-) Somebody from the band Break The Cycle filmed us playing at the Double Clown Sun. night, so check it out and see for yourself what we sounded like, and you tell me - is it good?

Oh, and I bowled with the Vegascendents this year too, and we made it to the 2nd round, which is pretty rad for a team's first year. We dragged our sorry asses to the bowling alley at 10 in the morning on Sunday, just to lose to some cool team called the Los Angelaskans, who beat us by like, a zillion pins or so. I was running on absolutely NO sleep and still drunk and stupid. That's my excuse. I can't speak for my Teammates, who went to bed early and were well rested and bowled the worst games of their lives... ha ha ha It was fun and I'm looking forward to not doing it again next year... heh heh Bowling on the other side of us were the Sharp Objects, that band I saw on St. Patrick's Day @ Thee Parkside in San Francisco a few months ago. They had an interesting viewpoint of what went down that night with 'Her' and her drunken, pill'd out  'stupiedity', and after talking to them and hearing them tell me what they saw and heard, I love those guys even more! LOL Yeah, she was there. People saw her. Some of them told me. Some of them didn't. Whatever.

Oh, and you know what else some people told me? Lots of Jokers tried telling me how "awesome" and "epic" the bands were this year, and after watching a few videos from pretty much every band that played this year on YouTube, I have to wonder what some of you out there are smoking, and how can I get some of that, because it's better than what I'm smoking, that's for sure! LOL Gawd, the bands were just terrible this year. Rancid blew, as usual. NOFX is just phoning it in at this point and should just give it up already. They were just sad. Oh, it was convenient of them to announce this past Fri. that they will be playing poolside @ the Hard Rock next month. How many of you Local suckers would of bought tickets to see NOFX @ Punk Rock Bowling if you knew they were playing the Hard Rock next month? Probably the same amount but I remain forever optimistic that it's not so. Oh, let's see... the Adicks, well, you've seen them once you've seen them a zillion times - no biggie. Adolescents? I'll see 'em the next time they play here Locally within the next few months or so and without a crowd of drunken tourists and dooshbags all around me. Punk Rock Bowling really has turned into the Viva Rockabilly weekender. It's the same shit but with different music and costumes.

Dwarves played without He Who Cannot Be Named, and the video I saw of them looked pretty boring. Plus Blag is a wife stealing dick, so enough said about that band. Youth Brigade was lame. A drunk Shawn Stern is sad to watch. People were raving about the Dickies but I didn't see it. They were OK but I've seen 'em better. And to those of you bitching about the Angry Samoans, didn't you learn your lesson from the last time they played the Beauty Bar? Guess not, but whatever. Pennywise? ha ha ha ha Yeah right! New singer, old singer, they have always sucked. The Generators? Youth of Today? 7 Seconds? The Belltones? STFU with that noise. Those bands all sucked and you know it. Look, it wasn't like there wasn't some cool bands that played some great sets this weekend. Cockney Rejects - AMAZING! They were the only band I was tempted to see this year, but the thought of dealing with the sheep and herd of cattle mentality with the crowd there to see them had me staying as far away as possible. Everyone and their dead Uncle was telling me how incredible Municipal Waste was, but they were just as incredible opening up for Gwar a few months ago @ the Hard Rock cafe. I heard Dr. Know kicked ass, but I knew that when the same reunion with Kyle happened in Ventura last year. Good Riddance I heard were incredible, same with Word Salad, but everyone else? Yawn. And that whole Beard Core thing with the acoustic shows happening is a fucking joke. Acoustic guitars are for Hippies like Jim Croce or John Denver. It's the antithesis of everything Punk is and stands for, and if you like it you're just stupid. And if you went to any of those Beauty Bar shows you're incredibly stupid as well. Matt Skiba is a joke. Tim Berry is a fucking cock smoking fag, and so is Tom Gabel, or Laura Jean Grace, or Crazy Confused Cunt, or whatever it's calling itself these days. I'm sooooooooo sick of hearing about that shit, like it's so revolutionary or original. What? Has no one ever heard of Wayne/Jayne County? Genesis P. Orridge? Yeah, didn't think so. The fact that he announces this in Rolling Stone magazine, which hasn't been relevant since they put Britney Spears on the cover the week that Joe Strummer passed away, shows you that it's all just an attention grab, like a baby that smears shit on itself, looking for someone to acknowledge it. Jan Wenner, the Publisher of Rolling Stone, is a well known Queen, so I hope his panties got all gushy and wet when he heard that Tom Gabel wanted to come out in his magazine. I hope he at least got a blow job from Laura Jean Grace for all this free publicity he gave him, her, it, whatever. It's just stupid. Who fucking cares? Seriously. Male or Female, your music still sucks. And if you think any of that Beard Core shit is relevant than you suck too. This shit has got to go. Yeah, Punk Rock Bowling is upon us, and the Drama already begins. I caught a little bit of slack for promoting that F.S.P. gig last night, but I know nothing about any alleged Racism back in the day or about any Racists being in the band, but if that's true, I might have to relegate them to bands that don't deserve to be supported. Anyone know anything about this? Anyone wanna chime in?

Gigs Gigs Gigs Gigs - tonight there's a whole bunch of them happening to choose from. If you don't know about them already, don't look at me for info. I'm staying in tonight and being a good boy, because I gotta get up early to head out to Sam's Town to bowl with the Vegascendents Team. Lane 1 @ Noon. Come hang! :-)

I think I've converted every page on the website to the new format. I'm constantly adding all sorts of the old material to the website, like Pictures and Show Reviews, and I've added some new stuff too, like the Music Reviews on the latest from Ministry (click here to read that) and Surrounded By Thieves as well - click here to read that. I also added the Pictures I took of them playing @ the Bunkhouse a few weeks ago, and you can go here to check those out. That was a fun night to say the least. The Show Review of that gig is almost done. I'm just waiting to edit those Battle Born photos from that night and it will be done. Oh, I added a Tunes page with stuff to listen to on there, and the first thing I put up on that page was a release from Public Humiliation back in 1988. The album is called It All Started When I Was Five, and you can click here to check that release out. Fans of the Flaming Lips or the Dead Milkmen will like it. I'm not sure why they're playing the Griffin, but I'd like to think it's because they're trying to pay off some drug fueled, hooker filled, 3 day long drinking binge, but I'm sure the real reason they're playing there is not as cool as what I imagined, but you never know. Anyways, go check out Deadhand tonight, and if I can get out of the studio tonight on time I just might venture downtown to check this out. It's an intimate setting that gives me the opportunity to see at least 1 good band before the Punk Rock Bowling snore fest oozes it's way into town. I finally caught up on all the Flyers for the Gig Calendar page, and I've been nerding out big time on applying all the changes that Weebly have made to the software that makes this website possible. Did you see the new layout for the Videos page? I love it. It's all categorized and alphabetized and you can click on any bands name and it takes you to a page that contains all the stuff I have from that band on one page. You can comment on everything individually now, which is awesome too, and I found an old Thirteen34 video on my old Myspace page that I threw on there that I don't even have a hard copy of myself anymore. Wow, what a weekend. 3 people I know got arrested this weekend - 2 of them for some serious charges, 1 for just being an idiot. It wasn't a good weekend for them, that's for sure. Me personally, I blame the solar eclipse or whatever that stupid thing was that everyone was all gaa gaa over for the abnormal behavior. It's always amazing to me that people feel the need to re-post over and over ad nauseam on Facebook things that are all over the media. You're not a news reporter people. Hey, let's keep people's minds off the important stuff like what's going on in Chicago at the NATO convention by bombarding them with inane stuff that's vapid and meaningless like a solar eclipse! Fucking sheeple I swear.

This gig flyer just popped up this weekend. I fucking hate the Griffin but I love Deadhand, so you can see my dilemma. I don't know who Rusty Maples are, but I'm sure I won't like them... heh heh

I made the trek out to the Silverton on Sat. to see Don Carlos, only to find out the gig had been moved to the Hard Rock and that it had started an hour earlier. Fuck. I didn't feel up to making the trek to the Hard Rock on a Sat. night so I just called it and went Home. Band practice has been killing me of late, so I need all the rest I can get. It's the calm before the storm known as Punk Rock Bowling, which has now achieved the same dooshbag gathering of Poseurs status that the Viva Rockasilly thing has. Whatever. The band that I think I'm officially now a member of, Guilty By Association, is playing 2 gigs for PRB, and it sure would be nice to see a few familiar faces at either one of them... hint hint

Robin Gibb passed away this weekend, which was sad. The dude fought the good fight. Donna Summer passed away a few days earlier. Both of those artists music was like the soundtrack to the 70's. It was everywhere. You know you're getting old when Disco stars start dying off. ;-) And, just to show you they always die in 3's, Chuck Brown preceded them all. Damn. You can even do another recent three celebrities with Carrol Shelby, the car dude, Vidal Sassoon, the hair dude, and George Lindsey, aka the Goober dude on The Andy Griffith Show. *Le sigh* And Abe Vigoda laughs at them all.

My Disease has been getting the best of me these past few days, and I'm kind of worried. It's not stopping me from getting things done and manning up to my responsibilities, but still, I'm starting to worry about the cost of what it's doing to me physically. Very strange indeed.

Hey - there is a good gig happening tonight @ the Royal Resort, featuring Local misanthropes Deadhand, playing with Punk Rock's musical version of Don Rickles The Vermin, and also on the bill are the noisy sludge masters Dead Neon. There's another band playing the gig that I'm not mentioning because they have a member of their band who's a little weasel faced liar that I want nothing to do with. God forgives, I don't. I would post the flyer for the gig on here, but I didn't wanna go through the effort to edit that bands name off of the flyer like I usually do, but seriously, it's gonna be a cool gig tonight @ the Royal Resort. If that band wasn't playing I'd be there front and center.

A gig I can post a flyer about is this one tonight @ Boomer's. Guttural Secrete is playing, along with The Genocide Architect (back from the dead and leaving Las Vegas apparently), God's America AKA Seeds Of Rape, and that's about all I can read off of that flyer! LOL Whatever happened to the concept of WANTING people to be able to read who's playing on a flyer? I guess that's as antiquated a notion as bands actually getting off their asses and promoting their gigs... heh heh That flyer might as well be in Klingon for as elitist as it is. ;-) And BTW, that God's America AKA Seeds Of Rape has got to be one of the stupidest band names I have ever heard of. I think someone from Jesus Fuck The Sun has something to do with that band, which would explain a lot. Anyone remember that band? Good. Believe me - you didn't miss out on a thing.

Hopefully I'm feeling good enough to make the trek out to Silverton to see Don Carlos play at the Sway Pool on Saturday. The Man is a Reggae Legend! Don't believe me? The thing with Favorites was taken care of. All the bands that played last Friday night were paid in full. Those who cancelled at the last minute were ridiculed as the pieces of shit that they are. :-) Nate made everything right. Good for him. There's hope for that place.

Celso Chavez, Possum Dixon Guitarist and Key L.A. Player, Dead at 44

Yeah, I met him through Trash Can School, who were one of the coolest bands to come out of that magical L.A. Scene we were all a part of at one time back in the 90's. He played drums in Black Angels Death Song too, which is what Trash Can School evolved into, but I didn't really dig them. Too Artsy for me. Phooey. Celso was just a really nice guy who died way too young of something which seems so preventable - complications from pneumonia. Who dies of pneumonia nowadays? Fuck. RIP Celso. I'm proud to say you were a Friend of mine. Vaya con Dios Sir.

I know... I know. Great color, amazeball graphic, and it was in my size too! <3 I will be sporting this shirt loudly and proudly at all gay themed events I attend and all during the upcoming summer months, because sometimes it's good to wear a color other than black. Only sometimes though. ;-) Yeah, the fucking Battle Born EP release party was pretty fantastic. Just a great vibe in the place, no Drama whatsoever, and every band that played was really good. Battle Born just killed it. Killed it! I fucking Love those guys!  TheCore almost stole the show, Surrounded By Thieves played a great set, and The Fact Remains were pretty good. I dug 'em. I wrote this huge ass diatribe on here about the gig, but I'm gonna make it a Show Review instead, so as soon as I get the pix edited from the night I'll post it up here. It was a cool gig, and if you weren't there you blew it. Make up for that by going to the band's Facebook page by clicking here and buy a copy of their CD if you don't already have one. Oh, and Friend them too while you're there. Their new CD is the tits, that's all I'm saying.

Oh, how I love it when bands who have lost any and all credibility and burned every bridge they possibly could here in this town try to get back together and play some gigs, like anyone gives a fuck about them. Either they can't find new people to play with them in these reunion gigs, or they just book gigs and then cancel at the last minute, which is just pathetic. Do us all a favor, you worthless piece of shit pathetic bands - quit trying to relive your 'glory days', just because your Life is a giant clusterfuck full of disappointment and regrets, you losers you. Go back to abusing the welfare system and polluting the gene pool with your retarded offspring. And take your 'Friends' with you. You should all go fuck off and die together.

The Seriouslys played Favorite's on Friday, and they didn't get paid, which royally sucks ass. Considering that the fine people booking that place are the same people who used to book the Divebar, this little bit of non-payment shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who's been involved with the music scene here. I hope they make this right and pay the bands what they're due. It would be a bad thing for them not to. It's not like Favorites is drawing them in ya know. Alienating the Bands you rely on to get people into your establishment is never a good thing to do.

I cannot stress enough the awesomeness of this upcoming Battle Born EP release thing happening tomorrow night @ the Bunkhouse. Besides the raison de se réjouir  Battle Born, TheCore are also playing, and I haven't seen them play in years it seems. I hope they play some of that new stuff that Sal let me hear that one night at the Double Clown. It sounded great to me, and I'm sure it will to everyone else who hears it. And Surrounded by Thieves are playing as well, and I'm gonna try to be inside, as opposed to outside, as I apparently am every time the band plays, or whatever it was they were making fun of me for that last time at the Motor City Cafe... LOL It's gonna be a funtastic night to say the least. I may have to pass out in my car for this one. ;-)

Tonight there's a couple of interesting things going on, with the first being this Double Down Radio Mother's Day contest for something, I dunno. I know some pretty rad Punk Rock Moms, but I don;t know if any of them would want to do whatever it takes to win the White Trash Sash but hey - you never know! ;-)

And then after that, head on over to the Bunkhouse to be a part of the Zombie Prom 2012 which, I can tell you from past experiences, is always a fun time - guaranteed. The Fabulous Sin City Roller Girls know how to throw a party, and this one tonight is going to be a rager! Get your ass there and have some fun! There's a discount for Zombies so come prepared.
