I'm not going to the City to get married, but it's funny that everyone thinks that.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Marriage? Really? Now THAT'S funny! I'm not going to the City to get married, but it's funny that everyone thinks that. It's gonna be rainy and cold the whole time I'm up there, and I'm kind of looking forward to it... Add Comment I don't know if the Darkness have ever played Vegas before. If they did, I didn't see them. There was no way I was missing this, because it was just too perfect. A great chance to talk shit on a Friday night. ;-) The band has recently reformed with all original members, and they just released a new MP3 single / video for the song Nothing's Gonna Stop Us, which you can check out and download for free at the bands website www.theactualdarkness.com. The song was better live is all I'm gonna say. :-) But yeah, I hate going to 'concerts', and I hate the House of Boooooo's with a passion, but for the Darkness, I made the effort. And it was sooooo worth it. :-) They opened up with Black Shuck, and then they all changed guitars and basses, and went into Growing On Me, and I was done. They were soooooo fucking good! They had an annoying habit of changing all their guitars and basses in between every song, and only Givin' Up / Stuck In A Rut were played back to back without a guitar and bass change. Whatever. When you're total Rockstars like the Darkness I guess you can do that. They played everything I wanted to hear, like Street Spirit (Fade Out), the Radiohead cover, and stuff from the 2nd album One Way Ticket To Hell... And Back, like the title song and Is It Just Me, and every great song off of Permission To Land. Beautiful. Justin's voice sounded incredible live and the band sounded fantastic. A Rock N Roll Machine. The best sounding early era AC/DC band crawling around the trenches today they are, and I had a great time. Except for the crowd. I wanted to kill every Tool and Dooshbag in the audience, including the big 6' 4" gay guy sporting a Ride The Lightning era Metallica shirt that I was standing behind who I kept spitting on, because he kept blocking my view. Every time he did I spit on him, and he didn't even notice. Whatever. The capper to all that is when he french kissed his little bearded boyfriend when the band played I Believe In A Thing Called Love. It was their song, and they totally waited all night to hear it. You could totally tell. They took Facebook arm extended pictures of themselves too. I was touched, and immediately headed for the exit... LOL I'm just kidding, but still, it was pretty ghey. I'm glad the Darkness have that appeal. We all need some Pomp, Bombast, and Theatrics in our Music, and the Darkness do all that and more for me. Yup. To commemorate the event I bought a tour shirt with a giant prawn on the front. Why a prawn? I have no idea. It looked cool, is all I can say... heh heh heh I heard nothing but great things about all the gigs this past weekend - the Pixies tribute show, and the T.S.O.L. / Guilty By Association / Civilians gig. Civilians - you guys made a bunch of new fans - Congratulations! Fuck, it's such a cool time here in the Las Vegas Music Scene right now. Watching your Friends play gigs is fun, playing gigs is better, and playing gigs with your Friends is always the Best. Everything's updated. I gotta get back to the front room. :-) Yeah, I'm currently obsessed (and not in a good way) by this video for the Krokus song Long Stick Goes Boom... somebody help me please by killing me now. The band's AC/DC sound is shockingly addictive though. I saw this band somewhere back in the day... Long Beach with the Scorpions? I dunno and can't remember. And BTW, today's update is brought to you by the word 'Docking'. Click here to see what all you guys have been missing out on. Or maybe you haven't... Hey now! ;-) I realized the severity of my problem while I was sitting in a house in Lake Havasu at 5 in the morning, working on a case of Newcastle, with Sailor Jerry keeping me company and the Mentors as the soundtrack to the depravity. The gig in AZ. was phenomenal, with Aluminum Falcon making a big splash on the Locals, who showered us in beer and broken glass and knew our songs and were singing along to them, even though most of the time I don't think they were singing the right words, but oh well, I give them an 'A' for effort! hahaha I wish I could tell you how the night ended, but the rule is, What happens on the Road, stays on the Road. ;-) Let's just say it involved BJ's, Black Widows and Bauhaus and leave it at that. Voodoo Glow Skulls @ the Bunkhouse last Friday was OFF THE HOOK!! Completely sold out gig and a crazed audience had people glowing about the bands performance days afterwards. I'm glad. I love that band, and go a way, waaaaay back with them. Happy to see them playing lots more of the older stuff too. I love Jerry to death but he couldn't play those old tunes as fast as he used to. The new guy can. And who the Hell are the Mad Caps and why is everybody carrying on about them? I was hyped on Saturday night's gig about Dangerboner playing it, but apparently I missed out on this crazy good band called The Mad Caps. Anybody know anything about them? I must see what they're about immediately if not sooner. No, I haven't gone to Insert Coins yet, as I don't see a reason to. I'm not some douchebag hipster with nothing better to do than hang out and pay to play old school video games that I can play for free in the serenity of my own home. Yeah, let's go downtown and rent out a Super Nintendo system and play Excite Bike! LAME!! And VIP bottle service at an video game arcade? Bite me you scum. Anyways, everything is updated. Osama Bin Laden is still dead, and Hank! is still the coolest kid I know, even though he still has no scooter. :-) I'm not really sure why we ended up drinking at The Cheyenne Saloon last night. Maybe it was because we ended our costume shopping run at Savers... maybe it was because we all had never been there before. In any case, we watched the end of the World Series game and played pool and drank Newcastle's and Jagermeister all by our selves while pumping the juke box full of our eclectic musical tastes... AC/DC... Bauhaus... Johnny Cash... Dead Kennedys... Abba, and Guns 'N' Roses. I'll leave it to you to figure out who listens to what. But we did get our costumes together... had a nice little dinner... and just had a good time hanging out with each other, taking a break from our practice schedule... and just having FUN! |
