OK - first things first! Tonight there's a very cool gig going down @ the Bikini Bar which, I guess, is now booking bands to play there again. It's got Signals Midwest on the bill, who I saw play last year @ Hypnotic Billiards (remember that place?) and they're a pretty good band. Click here for Pictures of them in action. Also on the bill tonight is Deadhand, who are always kick ass and definitely worth the effort to come out and see play, ya know? They played a few new songs the last time I saw them, and they sounded great, of course. I took video with my iPhone but it came out kind of crappy (I think) so I never posted it. Oh well. I don't know a thing about No Red Alice and nor do I care. Locals? Signals Midwest and Deadhand are a good enough draw for me, so I'll get there early to chat with my Friends and to check out all the bands playing, including No Red Alice because that's how I roll - for better or for worse. And besides, what else are you gonna do on a Thursday night? Stay home and Facebook it? Fuck that. Tomorrow night, it's all about American Buckshot @ the Double Clown. It's Dean's first show since coming back from wherever the Hell he was on the Earth and from doing whatever the Hell it was he was doing for the Military for over a year. He's impatient and headstrong and hyped beyond belief to be playing this gig, and I wish I could share his feeling of enthusiasm but I can't. I think this gig is going to be one colossal train wreck, based on our last few practices, but who knows - I could be wrong. Probably not though. ;-) It's also our new guitar player Rusty's first gig with us. He's been busting his ass to get the riffs and counts down, so come out and heckle him mercilessly for deciding to play with us - the fool! hahaha We're going on first at 10pm, so get there early and then leave - that's what I'm planning on doing! LOL Well, I.D.F.I. and Agent 86 are playing on the bill as well, so if you do decide to stick around and watch the rest of the bill, you can at least watch those 2 bands because they're pretty good. I.D.F.I. fucking kills it and if I didn't have better things to do, like anything and everything, I might stick around and watch those dudes, since I was already there, of course. ;-) Tonight there's also this thing going on @ the Arts Factory, a gig with All Eyes West, Broadcaster and Fredward, a bunch of bands I've never heard of and know nothing about, but if you ain't feeling the Deadhand gig, you could always go there. The Facebook event pages for the thing is right here. I wish I had a flyer to show ya, but apparently, Bobby Franks never got around to doing one for the thing, so whatever. Karl Bakla got around to doing another fantastic Show Review for the website, this time for that Communion Of Thieves gig that went down a few weeks ago, and you can click here to read it. Dogs don't belong at gigs. That's all I'm saying. Oh, and Dead Neon and 3D6 are playing on Friday @ Yayo Taco, and there's gonna be some French filmmakers there who are putting together a film about the Local Underground Scene here, so maybe you could get there early and be a part of History before heading over to the Double Clown to see American Buckshot play! hahaha Anyways, everything is updated - all sorts of new stuff added all the time, like these Pictures of the Civilians playing @ the Motor City Cafe last week. Click here to check those out if you haven't already. It's gonna be a great weekend, and I'm definitely optimistic about anything and everything that may or may not happen! Wish me Luck! :-) Add Comment The Official Theme of the Summer is Bohemian. There will be Road Trips galore. The Official Snack of this Summer are Macaroons. The Wand has been passed on and the Responsibility has been Accepted. It's a big Wand too, lemme tell ya! LOL All Grub will be BBQ'd. All Beverages shall be Chilled. :-) All are Welcome, but no one will come back the same. Hey! There's this fantastic gig happening tomorrow night @ the Double Clown, and if it was anywhere else I'd be there. All the Bands playing are top notch. The People's Whiskey gave me a little teaser from their upcoming release, and it's good. Really good. Should be a fun gig - Check it out if you're not doing anything else this Sat. night. Oh, I.D.F.I. and Agent 86 are playing the Bunkhouse that night too. If you're in the Downtown area you should check that gig out. Another gig you should check out happens on Sun., with the Seriouslys and the Naked City Romeos playing at Vince Neil's Girls Girls Girls strip club, and you can bet your ass that I'm gonna be there front and center! I have to be there to assert my masculinity because apparently, I'm a Homophobic Bitter Poseur! LOL Yeah, the Irony of someone from PRB calling me a Poseur is laughable. And Bitter? Well, I guess you've never talked to Shawn Stern when he's all drunk and stupid at 4 in the morning! LOL And Homophobic? Me? ha ha ha Now that is fucking laughable. I got 2 words for you Stern Bros. - That's It!. Remember that shitty band? I do. Oh wait, here's another 3 funny words for you - Royal Crown Revue. How funny was it to see the Stern Bros. dress up and pose like some Pachuco's from the 1940's? I know me and my Punk Friends had a laugh about it, and I know they wouldn't be walking around dressed up like that in some of the East L.A. neighborhoods I grew up in! Oh, and here's the real Pièce de résistance - The Brigade. Now that shit was funny! Electronic drums? Keyboards? Really? Fuck off with that shit. You ever hear the songs Youth Brigade recorded for the album The Dividing Line? YouTube that shit and give it a listen. It's laughable. And you guys are calling me a Poseur? Pathetic. All 3 of these bands were the Stern Bros. money grubbing attempt at cashing in when Punk wasn't the cool thing it is now, and they gave numerous interviews at the time as to how they had 'grown up' and weren't playing that 'little kid music' anymore. But oh wait, when Punk rock starts to make a comeback, guess who's there to jump on the bandwagon and loudly proclaim that they were the most Punk rock band in the world and never gave up on the Scene or the Music? Yeah, that was the Stern Bros. and Youth Brigade. And the Punk Rock Sheep could care less, but that's not the point. The point is some of us have been Punk for a really long time, refusing to give up on our Ideals or Beliefs or to cater to the crowd and play New Wave, Pop Punk, Swing, whatever, and then there's the Stern Bros., who do whatever they can to make money, because let's face it - those college educations in Art and Philosophy don't pay for themselves ya know! LOL Yeah, I can go on all day with this, but there's really no point, and I got better things to do. The comments posted on the PRB Facebook page are laughable (click here to read them all) and I can only hope and dream that some of the shit talkers on there actually follow through with their physical threats towards me. Unfortunately, they never do, which is the Magic of the Internet. Everyone is a bad ass when not within reach... heh heh The comments on the original post have been funny too (click here to read those) but at least I had a few people who agreed on a few things I mentioned about PRB. Some people get it, and some people don't. The bleating of the PC Punk Sheep is like Music to my ears. Fucking Tools. Everything is updated. See you at the Gigs. I know I've been slacking as of late, but it's such a beautiful day today that I'm gonna be running around everywhere, but there's some cool stuff going on tonight, like this: Plus this little bit of Crusty Punx goodness, featuring the Naturals / N.F.F.U. / Paranoid Freakout: And the aforementioned Tinglerz / Naked City Romeos / Agent 86 gig happening @ the Double Down tonight: I even toyed with the idea of going to Extreme Thing, but then I remembered that there is hair on my balls, and so I would have no interest in any of the bands playing, whoever they are... LOL Everything's updated - check out The Waking Light / Aluminum Falcon / Battle Born pictures from the Cheyenne Saloon from a while back - the Knock Out photos are coming real soon. I gotta do those Barrington Levy pictures first though. :-) |
