Updates? What's that? LOL

Yeah, I've been slacking on the website as of late, but I have a really good reason as to why that is. It's called Life! Moving into a new house has me all different kinds of ways occupied, and with band practice and unpacking stuff, I just don't have the time. Even now I sit in the midst of a chaotic front room, waiting for the electrician to come, and hating that I got a garage full of stuff that needs to be put away. I only came on here to update the website by saying that I don't have anything to update on here, and to share with you a story which gives me affirmation on the Future for Rock and Roll.

I was heading off to the Hotel Amoroso last Sunday for some Booze, Food, Booze, Football, and more Booze, and as I was pulling out of the driveway I saw this kid stumbling down the sidewalk. He couldn't of been more than 15, 16, and he looked like he weighed 90 pounds on his best day. He looked to be really hung over, or still drunk, with that look on his face that says, 'WTF happened last night?', a look and a feeling that I am very, very familiar with. I watched him for a bit, reminiscing on my high school days when I would do the same thing, doing that walk of shame that both stupefies and exhilarates. So how does seeing this kid give me hope for the Future of Rock and Roll, you ask? Well, it was because he was dressed up as Hank from Turbonegro. I shit you not. Denim jeans, jacket, no shirt, the Alice Cooper makeup, and a top hat, stumbling down that sidewalk like dressing like that was the normal thing to do. It was an awesome sight, and I wish I would of got a picture of the kid, but I didn't have a camera handy, and traffic was creeping up behind me, so I had to go. Seeing him gave me Hope for the Kids, that a few of them actually get it, embrace it, and love it. Kudos to you little drunk Punk kid. I'd rather see a bunch of Turbonegro clones waking the streets than a bunch of idiotic Wattie from the Exploited clones, that's for sure.

I think it was at the point when I was sitting behind my drum kit looking at the crowd that I finally realized it. Looking out into the crowd of familiar fans and friends was surreal enough, but then to look over and see Pitt standing in his familiar position to my right channeling John Cale, just put it all in perspective to me. It was really happening. The O.G. Loud Pipes were about to play again, something that hasn't been done since 2006 at some party @ Grandpa Spooky's bat cave (Click here to see the photos from that night). Yeah, I took a bunch of shit from a lot of people about my presence at the Double Down, but overall I had a good time. It was good seeing you all, I think we played a fantastic set, and hopefully we get together much sooner than 4 years to do it all over again!

"We are all only temporary curators of our present bodies, which will all decay, sooner or later. In a hundred years or so all the humans currently alive will have died. I take great comfort in knowing, with certainty, that thing that makes us special, able to enrich our own lives and those of others, will not cease when our bodies do but will be just starting a new (and hopefully even better) adventure ... "

Peter Christopherson - Throbbing Gristle

Sleazy from Throbbing Gristle passed away last week somewhere in Bangkok. I wasn't that big of a fan but I knew Genius when I saw it. Makes me wish I made the trek to Coachella last year to see them play again. Oh well. I hate when that happens.

And speaking of Death, Leslie Nielsen passed away this past week as well. The movie Airplane! seriously warped my little brain in the 80's, and Leslie Nielson's performance in that flick was a major contributor to that. I loved the Frank Drebin character in the Naked Gun flicks, and who could forget his appearance in Creepshow (I can hold my breath for a loooooooooooongg tiiiiiiiiiimeeeeeeeee... hahahahaha). Yeah, it's a trip when people you grew up watching and loving in the movies gets old and dies. Very strange feeling indeed.

Don't even get me going on what's happening with the Raiders or the Sharks...

Tonight is Bigg's Birthday Bonanza @ Yayo Taco with Die Laughing, B.F.O.M. and Dodsfalla. Come out and wish a cool dude a Happy Birthday, and check out some good bands while you're at it. Tomorrow night @ the Hard Rock Cafe on the Strip is Battle Born, Guilty By Association, Holding On To Sound and some band that should of never gotten back together. ;-) Thursday is Naomi's Birthday Bash with the Apocalyptics, and then Friday there's all sorts of stuff going on, including the Safe Nest benefit @ Area 702 with TheCore and a bunch of other bands, Tatiana's Birthday Party with the Subtimes and a bunch more bands, and then Saturday it's all about 1/2 Ast, The Bitters, The Insect Surfers and The Dickless Bastards @ Ace's And Ales, which, I think, is owned by the guitar player from Alice Cooper's band, if you can believe that! A fun filled week, to say the least. Should be fun.
