Friday night is for the Girlfriends, Saturday night is for Fun... or something like that. Yeah, new look for the website. Whatever. It's 2013, a sprucing up was over due. I'm still compelled, and always will be, but I get bored oh so easily now... heh heh Great weekend. Everyone was complimentary to me, which was odd. I saw fucking Battle Born absolutely KILL IT on Sat. night, playing an impressive set that had me stunned stoned and stupid. Maybe it was because I haven't seen them in a while or whatever but gawd damn were they good. They played everything that their girlfriends told them to do, like the good little boys that they are, the shnooks... heh heh That Backstage Bar & Billiards place is OK. If it was anywhere else but Downtown, I would totally be hanging out there. Of course, I have a Horror themed bar no less than 5 minutes away from me right now, but I never hang out there because their beer selection sucks. But I digress. I saw TheCore. play too. It was good seeing those guys fucking rage on the stage, but they had something going on with Brian's bass rig their entire set and it definitely deterred from an otherwise majorly kick ass performance. I fucking LOVE that song Meet Me At Nipsey's that they do, and they opened their set with Scene Kid Sacrilege. :-) Brian told me before they played that he was going to give me something to bitch about, because apparently I always do, and damn if he wasn't right! ha ha And although the night was all about By Death's Design, once all the old guys and girls started drunken Hardcore dancing and swinging their arms around like jackasses and bumping into people I split. I got waaaaayyyy better things to do than deal with that gheyness. They were good up to that point though. Danny informed me beforehand about all the Drama that went on between The Loud Pipes and By Death's Design back in the day, stuff that went on when I wasn't in the band, and it was kind of ironic I guess that they were now playing their one time reunion show at a club that an ex Loud Pipe is now the Manager of. Go figure, right? I guess that's why Danny was walking around with his old Loud Pipes vest on... heh heh And if it was a one time only reunion show, why were they playing a butt load of new songs? Hmmmm... After eating some disgusting food @ Le Thai I headed towards Artifice where I caught the tail end of some gig going on @ Hellpop! Comics featuring the Time Crashers, Geezus Cryst & Free Beer, and Fuzz SoLow. They had some cool fire pits outside but it was still a bit chilly so I headed into Artifice, were I watched an impressive display of Local talent provide the live soundtrack to the Rocky Horror Picture Show, which was being projected on one of the larger walls in the joint. They had performers dressed as characters from the movie there as well, and people were yelling out the lines at the screen, just like you do in the theaters when it's being shown, and I'm ashamed to admit I've forgotten most of those lines, and nobody was throwing toast or rice or anything, unfortunately, but it was still majorly fun. And by fun I mean I got drunk and bonded with Steve from Double Down Radio over our Love for Bon Scott era AC/DC and being compelled to do things. ;-) I ended the night hanging out with Bob (of course) eating hamburgers out of a bag and mixing a Local bands demo for future posting on the website. I only saw the band once, but the blew me away. I bought their demo and never heard anything from them ever again. Bob says he knows them, so I'm gonna try to hook up an Interview with the band and see what happens. Should be fun. :-) Speaking of fun, Dean and Rusty have been having some fun putting together the first trio of skateboard videos compiled from all the footage shot at the Ditch Dust BBQ with J.F.A. a while back, and they came out pretty good. Will there be more? I dunno, but you can click here to go to their newly established Blue Tile Lounge YouTube channel and hit the Subscribe button so you make sure you never miss out on anything they post. I'm sure there will be plenty more videos coming from that demented duo...Everything is updated. New Videos uploaded from CH3 and the Hard Pipe Hitters on the Videos page, and you can click here to check those out. I also posted some photos I took of G.F.I. when they played @ the LVCS a few weeks ago, and you can click here to check those out if you haven't already. Everything is going great, bar for a bit of horrifically bad medical news I received Friday, but whatever. It is what it is and I'm not going to let it get me down or stop me from doing what I'm doing. Well, until I'm physically unable to anyways... heh
And here's the reason why nothing has been getting done on the website as of late... heh heh heh It's a program called Adobe Audition and it is seriously amazeballz! It's my latest obsession and it's eating away all my time as of late. I've been taking some band practice MP3's and mixing my mind out on them 24/7. Some come out better than others, but that's only when Bob actually listens to me and doesn't try to get arty and "experiment with the sound". Mic placement is everything. And home recording is killing the music business... or something like that. Speaking of home recordings, there's a benefit compilation that has been put together from every bands performance who participated at the Cash For Clay benefit that went down a few weeks ago. The Cash For Clay donation page is still open, so if you haven't already, please give what you can now. Or, if you're one of those schnooks who need instant gratification for your monetary contribution, you can always click here and get this compilation I'm blabbering on about. It's called, again, Cash For Clay, and it features live performances from the Seriouslys, Fredward, Fuzz SoLow, Shark Pants, Fun In The Dark, Stormtroopers Of Dirk and the reunion of 1/2 Ast and Civic Minded Five. It was a great night of Music and all the proceeds from this compilation are going towards helping a great guy in his ongoing medical battle. So again, click here to download the Cash For Clay compilation and check out some of the better bands gigging around Las Vegas these days. There's lots going on this weekend. There's the Crazy Chief gig @ Vamp'd on Fri., which I'm staying away from for obvious non-band related Drama associated with that place. They're playing with an Alice In Chains cover band, so if that's your thing, be there I guess? That H.R. gig is going down @ the LVCS on Fri. too, but that shit's just lame, no matter who's playing with H.R., and it's especially lame considering the Local bands chosen to open. Sat. is the big By Death's Design reunion gig @ Backstage Bar & Billiards downtown, but I was never a fan, so that's not a draw for me, but TheCore and Battle Born are opening, so I'm definitely gonna be there. I haven't seen both of those bands in a while, and I'm long overdue. Sun. is the Die! Die! Die! gig @ the Beauty Bar with Fredward opening, and if I'm feeling frooty I may just check that out, I dunno yet. Hell, I might just stay in all weekend and mix and remix stuff until my fingers go numb. That's the beauty of having no obligations. You can pretty much do whatever the fuck you want to, and that's just fine by me...
To even attempt to begin to tell you what an influence the Ramones were on my life is a waste of energy. It wasn't like Johnny's passing is a shock, but to contemplate the thought that there's only 1 original member left of this groundbreaking band is sure to make you feel even older than you already are. So pour yourself a drink, slap on your favorite Ramones album and just remember... don't mourn the loss, but rather celebrate the gift we were given. I've been getting a great response from people who read my last posting here. I don't really post on myspace.com anymore, since Jesse gets all "macho insecurity" on me whenever Devon tells him what I wrote. At least if they come here to read what I wrote I get counter hits! LOL But yeah, lots of people have been writing / asking questions about what happened between me and The Loud Pipes, and I thank all of you for even giving a fuck. It just trips me out that all of this vicious legal stuff has to happen. Oh well. But anyways, enough of my Drama, let's talk about some killer shows with By Death's Design @ Gameworks tonight and The Dirty Babies @ The Double Down this weekend. Check out the Gig Listings page for more info on all the things coming up here in town (as always). Nothing new posted, nothing much to say. I'm in a funk over Johnny's passing, and I'll probably be that way for awhile. Oh yeah, I heard a few things about the D.I. / T.S.O.L. show last night... and the funny part is that I'm sure it's all true... slow, sloppy and shitty... heh heh heh
Hee hee hee... I'm glad that everyone got sick at the Warped Tour... I'm glad that nobody I've talked to had a good time, and I hope that you remember all this when the next one rolls around. From people that went, to people that played, everybody said it sucked wet monkey balls, and I hope you all learned your lesson. Just like the latter day Lollapalooza's sucked, so too do the Warped Tours... such a farce. Shitty bands... shitty place to see a show... just shitty period. Suckers. So we're practicing this week to get ready for our shows with the almighty 1/2 Ast this weekend in AZ. (Friday @ The Rogue in Tempe and Saturday @ The Surly Wench in Tucson) and we also have a gig lined up in CA. the week afterwords (in beautiful downtown Bakersfield). Hopefully we don't get as fucked up as we did the last time we played Tucson (with By Death's Design, whom we haven't heard from since... LOL), but with 1/2 Ast with us, it's definitely a possibility. They don't hold the title of #1 Party Band In Las Vegas for nothing, ya know? So that's gonna be fun.
"Some people go... Hey Tony - How do you do it? And I tell them... I don't do shit... I just follow... THE WAY!" hahahahahahahaha This weekend in AZ. / Mexico was the SHIZ-NIT!!! We drank... smoked... and played our asses off, and made tons of new fans and friends everywhere we went. The first 2 shows were fantastic, and the 3rd one was a train wreck of a mess... LOL It was still just as fantastic, but a very drunken mess. I've already posted the Review of the first day of our trip, and you can read about it here, and I also posted some Pictures I took of our Tour mates By Death's Design, and you can check those out by clicking right here. I'll get the rest of the stuff up later this week, but I have no idea of when. Mucho, mucho Thanks to Bruce Zinky, Nate from the Rogue, our newest roadie Jesse and of course, Bob for being such great friends and even more gracious host to us. Without you guys, we wouldn't of had half as much fun as we did have, and man, did we ever have fun! From calling everyone a Bitch or a Joto, the Loud Pipes had a blast in AZ., and I can't wait until we go back again. This time I'll remember to lay off the tequila, I promise! LOL
Not actually, but I just wanted to have an update on MY Birthday, with my favorite # as the listed time. Anyways, to say that last nights show with Manic Hispanic was amazing is like saying that the Mona Lisa is just a painting! LOL I had sooooooooo much fucking fun! Thanks to everyone that was there to help me get an early start on my Birthday celebrating. You can see all the pretty Pictures I managed to take by clicking here. Saturday's show at Balcony Lights was really good... it wasn't fun for me, but everyone said it was one of the best shows they've seen us play, so I guess I can't complain. We sold lots of merch that night, and probably would have sold more if the damn police didn't show up to shut the gig down AGAIN! Gee... I think the police might like us! LOL Or maybe they like harassing the punk kids that come to our shows. In either case, super sweet Thanks to everyone that came out to help us celebrate our LP-EP CD release party. You can read all about it right here. Sorry to Hektor and SMASH Magazine for not being able to do the Interview after the show, but we'll make up for it this week, guaranteed, so keep an eye out for our Interview in that magazine next month. And the City Life is still gonna do a story on us, but I have no idea of when. Oh well. After calling us a "Biker Metal" band, I'm not too hyped on them at the moment. Our show in Phoenix with By Death's Design got cancelled, but that's OK, since we got offered a show with Deadbolt @ The Rogue in Phoenix! What a deal! Things are going good and I can't really complain. And Thanks to Hollywood Shane for being soooooo cool and calling me on my Birthday. And Thanks to Pitt for the Mentors shirt!
Fucking ten million things going on at once, so let me just spit some thoughts at you as they come to me, OK? The Agent Orange - D.I. Show Review is up... click here to read that. Some more Pictures of both bands, as well as some pix of Anti-Flag are posted on this page here. The Loud Pipes have a plan to FINALLY finish the recording session and to at least have an official demo available to you all for our upcoming shows with By Death's Design in Arizona and the Supersuckers show at the Boston and the Sub/Hum/Ans show at the Huntridge, which nobody in charge over there seems to know anything about. But the show is listed on the Sub/Hum/Ans web site, so I guess it's a go. It's been days later and I still can't believe how terribly boring that Yaphet Kotto show was at Balcony Lights... you Airbag kids need to re-define the terms "amazing live band" and "mind blowing show"... heh heh heh. The Loud Pipes Club House is officially closing real soon... and I'm not quite sure why, but oh well. We're all going to some invite-only show tonight with Social Distortion and The Missing 23rd @ The Beach, and I know that it's gonna be FUN! Chicks in bikinis! Woo Hoo!
