I woke up this morning to find this email in my inbox with this outstanding announcement about Demon Lung getting signed to a major label. It seriously couldn't happen to a more deserving band. This is what happens when you're a real band and you get signed to a real label. I remember when I first saw them, playing in front of nobody, and I knew they had something special going on. I kept seeing them perform and I watched them transform into the Metal juggernaut that they are. This band deserves all their rewards and accolades, because they've earned each and every one of them through hard work and perseverance. Again, kudos to you Demon Lung. I wish you nothing else but even more success. Make Vegas Proud!! :-)
Candlelight Records has announced the signing of Demon Lung. The Las Vegas-based quartet, featuring guitarist Phil Burns, bassist Patrick Warren, drummer Jeremy Brenton and vocalist Shanda Fredrick, is set to begin recording its full-length debut in the coming weeks at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California with producer Billy Anderson (Sleep, High On Fire, Eyehategod) for a spring 2013 release.
The band commented: "We are very honored to join the Candlelight roster. To be included among such talented artists is very humbling, and we thank the great people at Candlelight for giving us the opportunity." Metal Hammer called Demon Lung's four-song demo, Pareidolia, "earthy yet horror-themed doom Metal a la Candlemass with an Acrimony groove." The magazine called Fredrick a "wild-eyed, satanic songstress." Popular music and film site Ave Noctum noted, "Demon Lung has a deft touch and solid sound. Their Music is clearly from the Soul. Fair to say they are a welcomed addition to the ranks of the doomed." Teeth Of The Divine added, "Fredrick has the requisite sultry pipes that keep a steady, hazy tone. She has a deep, bluesy voice that fits the languid music perfectly." Demon Lung has performed alongside Pentagram, High On Fire, Jucifer, Witch Mountain and Castle and will resume performing once recording has been completed. How fucking sick is that, right? Again, Congratulations to ya Demon Lung! I can't wait to hear how kick ass that recording is going to come out once it's done. :-) Cheers!
Bucket List... fuck off! ha ha ha
Don't forget about this Deadhand gig happening tonight. I'm not sure why they're playing the Griffin, but I'd like to think it's because they're trying to pay off some drug fueled, hooker filled, 3 day long drinking binge, but I'm sure the real reason they're playing there is not as cool as what I imagined, but you never know. Anyways, go check out Deadhand tonight, and if I can get out of the studio tonight on time I just might venture downtown to check this out. It's an intimate setting that gives me the opportunity to see at least 1 good band before the Punk Rock Bowling snore fest oozes it's way into town. Sorry folks, but I'm just not feeling it this year. Who's playing this year that's worth getting worked up about? Rancid? NOFX? The Belltones? LOL Fuck all that ghey shit. If I wasn't playing the 2 gigs I'm playing with Guilty By Association I wouldn't even be anywhere in the vicinity of any gig happening this weekend. Le sigh. I'm always hanging out during the actual bowling aspect of it though, and this year I'm on the Vegascendents bowling team! Aaaaargh!! ha ha ha Oh, BTW, Lane 1 @ Noon on Sat. - Roll Out and Support! :-)
And now it's the Calm before the Storm, the Punk Rock Bowling storm. I finally caught up on all the Flyers for the Gig Calendar page, and I've been nerding out big time on applying all the changes that Weebly have made to the software that makes this website possible. Did you see the new layout for the Videos page? I love it. It's all categorized and alphabetized and you can click on any bands name and it takes you to a page that contains all the stuff I have from that band on one page. You can comment on everything individually now, which is awesome too, and I found an old Thirteen34 video on my old Myspace page that I threw on there that I don't even have a hard copy of myself anymore. I lost it on a computer I used to have a long ass time ago. Click here to check that video out. I did the same with the Music Reviews page. I just added the review for the new Ministry CD, and you can click here to check that out too. I got a lot more but I've been busy adding all of this years photos I took to the Pictures page, which also has the new layout applied to it. I feel energized. I feel alive. Everything with all 5 bands I'm in is going great, almost... heh. I'm loving the physical drain of practicing and playing drums every day, and I got a bunch of new website merch on the way that I'm pretty hyped on. Stickers, badges, tee shirts, y todo! Things are going good with me, and I hope they are with you too. Most of you anyways. ;-)
Syntax. It's kind of important if you wanna be a proficient writer. Nicknames are a sure giveaway as well, especially when you know the only person who called you by that nick name. The only reason why I'm babbling like this is because someone recently tried to virus me using a hotmail account and the name of someone I used to be friends with. Once I safely opened the e-mail, I recognized who wrote it by her syntax. What a strange thing to do. I mean, my virus software caught it right off the bat, but she gets an A for effort. I guess I'm that threatening to her... hee hee hee. Yeah. Anyways, it's Labor Day Weekend, and if you aren't stuck at home watching the Jerry Lewis Telethon, you should get out and do something. The weather's great, it's an extended weekend, what more do ya need? It's Pow Wow time in my neck of the woods, so that means it's time to 49 all night long and listen to tribal war songs and drink myself silly and smoke myself into a coma. Maybe this year I'll even remember to make some fry bread! LOL Next week I gotta take care of all my legal stuff that I'm currently embroiled in, but for this weekend I'm gonna forget all that and just have fun! I'd advise you all to try and do the same. The Gigs Listing page is updated, I added some Music Reviews of the latest by the Dayglo Abortions, Probot, Descendents, Of Faith And Fire and Manic Hispanic, and I added some more stuff to the Pictures page. Hope you like it, and have a great weekend!
