My Disease has been getting the best of me these past few days, and I'm kind of worried. It's not stopping me from getting things done and manning up to my responsibilities, but still, I'm starting to worry about the cost of what it's doing to me physically. Very strange indeed.
Hey - there is a good gig happening tonight @ the Royal Resort, featuring Local misanthropes Deadhand, playing with Punk Rock's musical version of Don Rickles The Vermin, and also on the bill are the noisy sludge masters Dead Neon. There's another band playing the gig that I'm not mentioning because they have a member of their band who's a little weasel faced liar that I want nothing to do with. God forgives, I don't. I would post the flyer for the gig on here, but I didn't wanna go through the effort to edit that bands name off of the flyer like I usually do, but seriously, it's gonna be a cool gig tonight @ the Royal Resort. If that band wasn't playing I'd be there front and center.
A gig I can post a flyer about is this one tonight @ Boomer's. Guttural Secrete is playing, along with The Genocide Architect (back from the dead and leaving Las Vegas apparently), God's America AKA Seeds Of Rape, and that's about all I can read off of that flyer! LOL Whatever happened to the concept of WANTING people to be able to read who's playing on a flyer? I guess that's as antiquated a notion as bands actually getting off their asses and promoting their gigs... heh heh That flyer might as well be in Klingon for as elitist as it is. ;-) And BTW, that God's America AKA Seeds Of Rape has got to be one of the stupidest band names I have ever heard of. I think someone from Jesus Fuck The Sun has something to do with that band, which would explain a lot. Anyone remember that band? Good. Believe me - you didn't miss out on a thing.
Hopefully I'm feeling good enough to make the trek out to Silverton to see Don Carlos play at the Sway Pool on Saturday. The Man is a Reggae Legend! Don't believe me? Watch this video I took at Reggae In The Desert 2011 directly below all this BS. Him opening up was a bit of a travesty, but whatever. I loved it and I'm hoping he's just as good when he plays on Sat. I also hope I'm not surrounded by drunk Indian girls hooting and hollering like I was last time too... heh heh
Well, I gotta go to band practice - of course. Then bowling. Then maybe a social life if I'm lucky. ;-) I added the Pictures I took of The Fact Remains and Surrounded By Thieves up to the website, and you can click here and here to check those out if you haven't already. It's gonna be a cool weekend - assuming I live through it of course. :-)
Fuck you Texas de Brazil!! LOL
After driving around for about 40 minutes, up and down Las Vegas Blvd. and Sunset, and missing the majority of the Sharks / Blues game, I finally gave up on finding the place and headed Home. I was supposed to meet everyone up there for Jack from Pigasus' Birthday party, and I purposefully avoided eating all day just so I could scarf down once I got there, but alas, apparently it was not meant to be, as I just ended up grabbing a shitload of grub from Felipilito's and raced Home to watch the Sharks lose 2-1. It's over Johnny. Fire Wilson. Trade Marleau. Clean all the old crap out of the system and start anew. Such a fucking disappointment. Ugh. Oh well. Better Luck next year boys. Enjoy your tee off times during the Summer.
I think I joined another band... LOL My weekend is booked solid with band rehearsals. I need to start learning how to say 'No'... LOL
Dude! It's 420 tomorrow, which means absolutely fuck all to anyone but the pot smoking Hippies and those who emulate said ignorant lifestyle, but, there's lots of ridiculously stupid marijuana themed gigs going on this weekend, including one gig where they're gonna be raffling off a half an ounce of weed. Lots of places are giving away brownies (wink wink) and various paraphernalia which will get you arrested for a Felony if you're caught with said contraband on your person, so be careful or best yet, just avoid the whole thing altogether and stay away from those gigs. After all, if you have to give away free weed and drugs to get people to come to your gigs, well that doesn't say too much about your band now does it? ;-) The only thing worth doing is heading down to Yayo Taco to help Demon Lung celebrate their CD release. The EP is called Pareidolia, and it will be available for your stoned purchasing pleasure at the gig. Support provided by Dead Neon and a few other bands. Click on the flyer below for all the info.
Or, if you're really feeling brave, head out to Hendertucky and see The People's Whiskey play at the Gold Mine Tavern. The jails in Henderson are much better, with tastier food and a much better clientele of criminals in there. Believe me, I know. ;-) Or you could go see Unfair Fight and the Hard Pipe Hitters fuck shit up @ the Cheyenne Saloon. Either or. Do something on 420 besides revel in the ignorance of the holiday. For those of us who smoke weed everyday, 420 is a day the amateurs come out of the woodwork to prove how down they are, sort of like how everyone turns Irish on St. Patrick's Day, but lamer. And gheyer, if that's possible. ;-)
OK - it's Official - This gig for Eric from the Naked City Romeos is happening on Friday! LOL I only know that because Emma from the Seriouslys made a flyer for the gig! :-) The Seriouslys, the Fremonts, and, of course, the Naked City Romeos (or, as Turbo calls it, the Bacon City Rodeo) will all be playing in celebration of Eric's 50th year on Earth. That's quite an accomplishment if ya ask me! Anyways, stop on by and bring the guy a gift or buy him some drinks and have fun with some of the cooler people in town, who will be both hanging out and playing on stage. And if you haven't already, head over to the Seriouslys Reverb Nation band page by clicking here and check out the songs and video they have posted on there. The songs sound killer. Where the Hell were they recorded at? Kudos to whoever mixed them. They're nice and LOUD! :-) And the video is pretty cool too. It's for a song called Kick Me Out that I can recall the band playing a few times that I saw them. The video seems to be more about the Double Down than the song, but whatever. It's still cool. Check it out below. There's this pretty cool thing going on Saturday afternoon in Boomer's parking lot. It's a Punk Rock Swap Meet/Garage Sale where Local Musicians and Artists will be selling used gear, band merch, art, photos, used household goods, crafts, jewelry, clothing and a bunch more stuff, so if you're looking for some deals then stop on by! There's gonna be some bands playing (.Bipolar / The Fat Dukes Of Fuck / Mechanical Death) and a food truck for all of you with the munchies. ;-) Or, if you don't wanna eat there, head over to Yayo Taco afterwords to see Local bands Dead Neon and Spun In Darkness playing with some heavy ass bands from Arizona with names like Godhunter, Inoculara and Blister Unit. The gig starts @ 6, so get there early to check out all the bands. You should definitely check out this gig rather than that shitty Angry Samoans gig going down @ the Cheyenne, that's for sure. I don't know how that band is even still around, and after that last gig of there's @ the Beauty Bar a while back, I don't know how they can even be comfortable playing here! LOL Give it up guys. Seriously. :-)
Everything is updated. Pictures of the Quitters were just added, and you can check them out by clicking right here. That Roddy Radiation (from the Specials) gig is happening tonight @ the Aruba, but I don't think that I'm going to that, but check it out if you're so inclined. It might be fun. :-) Have a great weekend. See ya around somewhere.
Today is November 11th, 2011, which means...
We're only making plans for Nigel... Yup! Today, everything gets turned up to 11!! Who wants to think about what our War Veterans have done for our Country, let's just bask in the warming ignorance and brilliant stupidity that is Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap. He has an armadillo in his trousers and it's really quite frightening. :-)
And... speaking of the Veterans, here's the #1 Reason Why Nothing's Getting Done On The Website:
There are actually NO black people in this Military force, just like in real life! Yeah, shit's come to a grinding halt around here, with pretty much all of my free time devoted to playing this. Well, that and going to the Hospital for a bit of an emergency visit. They did give me a bit of unsettling news while I was there, but I'm not putting too much into it right now. P.M.A., right? Right!
When I'm not yelling profanities at inanimate objects or throwing up blood for hours on end I'm trying to get stuff up on here, and since I'm usually snookered off my gourd half the time I write this, the occasional mistake or 2 or 7 will pop up on here, and I made a doozy in my last posting concerning that High On Fire gig @ the Beauty Bar this Sunday. It's not Dead Neon that's opening up that gig - it's Demon Lung! Damn that O.G Sour Kush! ha ha ha Anyways, it's Demon Lung who will be rattling the walls of the Beauty bar on Sunday and I'm assured by the Band that they will play NO Black Sabbath covers in their set! LOL They have new songs to play now, and I for one can't wait to hear them. See ya there!
Demon Lung is opening... Demon Lung... _And another thing you will see me at is that Mapes gig @ the Arts Factory on Saturday. It's something for the Grand Opening of 3 new stores inside of there, including Lord Baron Von Dong-Dong's new comic book store, HellPop!, and there's a bunch of bands playing, like My First Rodeo, Fredward, The Who's Next, Electric Hessian, The Cowboy Luggage Salesman and Sheep On A Cliff, and it's FREE and it's All Ages, so nobody has an excuse not to be there. Nobody! I'm blowing off the live cast performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show @ the Sci-Fi Center to see the Mapes, because I can't even think of the last time I saw them, and that's not a good thing. :-( Is that Capt. Whiskey on this flyer?? I mean, what else are you gonna do on a Saturday night? Hang out at the Grand Opening of the new Goth Club here in Vegas? ;-)
Belllllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaa Luuuuuuuugoooooooooooooooooosssssiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii... Yeah, apparently Scoundrels has been doing sooooooo good with their little twice a month Goth night that now Artifice is looking into tapping some of that crowd to hang out at their bar downtown, which I personally don't mind. I love hanging out at Goth bars, and I got nothing but Love L-U-V down there at Artifice, so it's a win-win for me! Woo Hoo! And speaking of winning... HA!! I think that's all that needs to be said about that... heh heh heh The Raiders are #1 in the AFC West, and I for one couldn't be happier. :-)
I'm not gonna be at this gig, but maybe you should be! :-) I only post this flyer because I got nothing but Good Good Things for the critters in the Civilians, so if you're into Kevin Seconds or chicks from L.A. playing crappy covers of some English punk band, then stop by the Bunkhouse on Sunday. Hoist a few pints for me, won't ya mate? Oi! ha ha ha
We don't censor shit around here, i.e Cunt Sparrer. _Well, the sun is hiding behind the gray clouds. My buzz is wearing off. It's 7:45 in the morning. I gotta get back to playing video games and watching The Three Amigos. :-) Have a great weekend everyone. I'll be around. Promise!
I live for gigs like that one last night. I really do. Small, intimate things with a handful of Friends in attendance, glorified practices really, and the vibe is just so relaxed, stress free, I dunno, something. The Bands are basically playing for each other and the 2 or 3 other idiots in attendance who have nothing better to do than to come out and check out some bands they've never heard of, on the slim chance that one of them might be worth remembering and maybe worth scrounging some change together to buy some merch off of the band to help their gas funds to get them to the next gig. Yeah, that's what last nights gig @ Yayo Taco was all about, and I loved every minute of it. I only made the effort to see Deadhand, who I am currently obsessed with, but seeing a band like Razorhoof just throw down the sickness with their Neurosis / Eyehategod Noise not Music was worth the $5 admission donation price alone. Click here to check out the bands Facebook page. And what's up with the new changes to the layout of Facebook? Can you say, LAME!! hahahaha Smooth Sailing were pretty good too, in a Refused / At The Drive In kind of way, shaking the walls of Yayo Taco loose with their double bass playing musical onslaught. Click here to check their Facebook page out and become their Friend. And I finally got to see G.P.B., who are just the cutest bunch of Punk kids ever! They're like a cross between Rancid and the Casualties, and every one of their songs is, uhhhmmm, how should I put this, "inspired", by bands like the Dead Boys, Sham 69 and the 4-Skins. They played a NOFX cover that never changed tempo once, even though it was supposed to... heh heh heh. Deadhand played a NOFX cover too, Linoleum, and had some random Punk kid sing it and lose his shit while doing so. His buddy helped out on backup vocals too... rad. It was cute and awesome at the same time. Totally laid back night @ Yayo Taco. You should of been there. You missed out. :-) Tomorrow night Pigasus is playing at the Beauty Bar for some reason, but I couldn't find shit on Facebook about it. I thought it was for something about tattoos or some shit, but who knows. Friday night Danny, The Prince of Drummers, is putting on a show at the place he works at, the Bikini Bar, that he's calling The Clash Of The Scenes, and it's featuring the Tinglerz, Six Shooters To The Sky and Babilos, and you can click here to check out all the info about it on the Facebook event page for it. Isn't Facebook wonderful? Takes all the effort out of promoting a gig! LOL And everybody is complaining about the new Facebook layout but I dunno, I like it. It works for me and simplifies everything. Whatever. And don't forget about this gig happening @ the Hypnotic Lounge this Saturday. It should be a night of Local Music Sexiness!!!! Deadhand, Aluminum Falcon and Holding Onto Sound. I was told that Dead Neon dropped off... Booooooooooooo. See ya there! XOXOXOXOXO Robots are SEXXXY!! <3
Wow. I had soooooo much fun this weekend. The past week as well. The practices with S.F.T. are coming along nicely, although they're already saying I'm playing the songs too fast, which is pretty much what every band I've ever been in has said to me. Go figure, right? :-) I didn't make it to the Mapes gig @ the Motor City Cafe on Friday because I threw my back out after band practice, but luckily I have an amazingly rad chick who's a Masseuse as a Friend, so I told her I had an emergency and she fixed me. Straightened me out and worked me out and because of her I was able to make it to the gigs on Saturday. Thanx Babe! XOXO I owe ya one! ;-) And the gigs on Saturday? FUN!!! Going back and forth from the inside lobby area to the pool area outside to check out some diverse bands was cool. There wasn't any drink specials at the bar, which sucked, because the booze was waaaayyy over priced, but it didn't matter, because they were letting everyone walk in with whatever they had stashed in their car in the parking lot. Security didn't seem to mind the smoke sessions out there either, which is always a plus in my book. The Sound dudes were on the ball, everything sounded great, and with the weirdly eclectic turnout of people for this event, which was for the 107.9 radio station Birthday party, gave the place a nice chill vibe and people were just hanging out and walking around like it was a backyard kegger party or something. Very fucking cool. And the Bands? Oh, the Bands were killer! Well, most of them were anyways. ;-) The People's Whiskey just blew me the fuck away with their set, just fucking amazing shit. Am I the only one hyped on this band right now or what? They're so exceptional as to what's going on out there right now in the Vegas scene and I just dig their sound, I dunno. Ministry Of Love were easily the most entertaining band that I saw. They have this kid Ryan who's like a monkey on speed when he plays, throwing his guitar around with reckless abandon, jumping on top of everything he possibly could and shredding away on it, and doing complete back flips in the middle of a song. Seriously. And, of course, he jumped in the pool after the band ended their set. Pulsar and Meg followed him right in. Rad. :-) I saw this band called The Lips who were really fucking Ace, playing this infectious Indy Pop New Wave music that was really New Order / Cure like, and I dug the shit out of it. Really impressive stuff. They were like the Killers if the Killers didn't suck. :-) And Guilty By Association played their second to last gig ever with Bingo Billy behind the drum kit. And it was definitely something to see... hahahaha I'll save the details for the Show Review I wanna write about it. ;-) After Guilty By Association finished up their set, I made a beeline for Yayo Taco for a carnitas taco plate and tequila shots. Yummmmm! The place was packed with the dinner crowd, and the wooden tables were sitting out, not to be moved the entire night. Whatever. Permanent Failure played a set full of Punk Rock tunes that sounded like every Punk band you liked when you were 16! LOL So fun to watch, but I had to leave when they played that Bad Religion cover mid way through their set. Is it too much to ask a band to play their covers at the end of the set, like Guilty By Association did @ the Royal Resort with that Billy Joel song? Is it also too much to ask a band to KNOW their cover before they play it? LOL Awwwww... It was Permanent Failure's last gig, and it was a good way to go out. People dug them, and they showed all us old guys in the room what being Young and Punk Rock was all about! Surrounded by Thieves have turned into a MONSTER with Brandon from Betting On Tomorrow on lead vocals and rhythm guitar. They sounded soooooooo fucking good it was frightening. They have this, ' don't give a fuck - let's just play and rock out and have fun' attitude that's contagious to everyone in the room. The songs are outstanding, and Brandon is the perfect fit for Surrounded By Thieves. They just rocked the salsa out of Yayo Taco, and it was the Guitar player Andy's Birthday too, and there were chocolate and vanilla cupcakes being handed out to everyone who wanted one. I took 3. :-) And, of course, you know what happens when you give a room full of drunk Punx stuff to abuse or throw around - a cupcake fight broke out, with everyone in the place getting pelted and marked with sickly sticky sugary frosting. Yeah, it was that kind of night. Anyways, check out Surrounded By Thieves each and every time you can. You won't be disappointed. The touring band from Reno, Machine Gun Vendetta, were pretty fucking good. They had that sound that reminded me of like, every band that was on any of those Maximumrockandroll compilations from the 1980's, and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible! LOL Lightning fast Punk Rockage that was pretty cool stuff. After their set they were handing out business cards with a Link to a free download of some slamscene.com compilation album they were on, which is always good. Bands - download cards are the new way to get your music into the hands of the fans. Just saying. ;-) And Guilty By Association ended the event by playing their 2nd set of the night, and Officially their last one with Bingo Billy. I took video of the last song they played, and I'll post it up on here sometime soon. It was a melancholy way to end the evening, that's for sure. Speaking of video, here's one I forgot to post up on here from the night of Vandalism @ the Cheyenne Saloon. :-) It's blurry, shaky, off centered and hard to see, but I think it suits the music well. It's Dead Neon performing Advisory (Go To The Boneyard), Downwinder and Cratered. They were soooooooooooooo fucking on that night. Their music makes me wanna give up on the world and just head out to the desert and grow my hair out while waiting for the Apocalypse to come. Yeah, it's that moving... to me anyways. I got more Videos to post, but I need to get a hold of the Bands to ask them what the Hell the song is called that I filmed! hahaha Keep your eyes on the Videos page to see whats what. Everything is updated. Yeah, I added the Pictures of the Happy Campers and Ministry Of Love from that Royal Resort gig, and as soon as I finish writing this shit up I'm gonna head out to more S.F.T. band practice and maybe to Artifice for a night cap. Who knows. What's everyone doing for Labor Day? Me? I'm heading Home... <3
I had a pretty good weekend planned out. I really did. I was gonna start Friday night out by heading down to the Cheyenne Saloon to catch my Nephew DJ Chis opening up for Sen Dogg from Cypress Hill there, and then after that was finished I was gonna head to Vamp'd to catch Green Jelly and the Vermin, which I had been hyping my friends about all week. Problem was, a certain band I wanted nothing to do with was opening the gig, a fact that I only found out about when the flyer was finally made available to the public 2 days before the gig. Yeah, I know. Don't get me started. So I told my friends I wouldn't be at the gig, and they tried to talk me into going anyways, but I stood my ground and stayed away. After over sleeping and missing out on my Nephews set, I decided to pursue other non-musical endeavors that evening. Totally worth it too. :-) Saturday was my plan was all about Football and seeing Nick Razor and G.F.I. @ the Cheyenne Saloon that night, who were playing with Guilty By Association and Rule Of Thumb, I think. Anyways, just like before, a few days before the gig I find out that another band I want nothing to do with are playing the gig that night, and even though they are notorious for booking gigs and not showing up to them, I again decided to stay away and avoid the possibility of any Drama. Again, I got better things to do. Like eat, drink and be merry! :-) So I started the day out with Jeremy testing out some bass pedals he picked up from Cowtown Guitars, and then it was off to Jesse & Roxie's to watch the game. After watching the Raiders lose to the 40-Whiners I went home with a belly full of enchiladas and a better disposition to deal with the Drama I had waiting for me there. And to do laundry. Yup. Fun stuff. Speaking of fun stuff, think this pretty much says it all. I love the title of the email - reads like a newspaper headline! hee hee hee This Gilbert Astrada dude is in serious trouble! ;-) And please note that he sent a copy of the email to "702cop112", but yet tells me if I don't comply with his wishes he will turn the matter over to Metro when, apparently, he already has. Cute. GILBERT ASTRADA CAUGHT VANDALIZING LOCAL BUSINESSMark Hornsby xxxxxxxxxxxxx@yahoo.com to ge138, 702cop112 show details Sunday August 21 11:31 PM (15 minutes ago) Hi Gilbert Astrada~My name is Mark and I have you on video surveillance tagging my club up with your stickers. In the real world that's called VANDALISM and it's against the law. You obviously didn't look up at any of the 15 cameras I have in my bar. The date was on Sunday, August 14 2011. I suggest you come in and explain why this happened to me or this will be turned over to metro and you can explain to them. You have 48 hours to get this handled or it will be dealt with legally. Truly.*M Mark HornsbyMHC (LLC)Yeah, I don't think I'll be supporting the Cheyenne Saloon anytime in the future, to say the least, which is just fine. I got better things to do and if he's serious about pursuing this legally, then I guess we'll go that route. He told his Cop friend. I told my Lawyer. We'll see how this plays out. :-) I Heart Nirvana, which is the only reason why this picture is here. :-) Ahhhhhhh, such a beautiful Monday morning. I think I'll go out and enjoy it and see what kind of mischief I can get into. Pretty quiet week musically, with the weekend having only one must see gig, that being the Mapes / Maxies gig @ the Motor City Cafe. If you're feeling brave you can venture out to Hendertucky to see the Tinglerz, but I wouldn't advise it, and neither does my Lawyer. :-) There's some Thrash shows @ the Sanctuary, Yayo, the Bunkhouse, whatever, happening this weekend, and you can check out the Gig Calendar page for all the info, and then there's that Butthole Surfers gig happening @ the Palms on Sunday, which, I dunno, just bums me out to no end. The last time I saw the Butthole Surfers, they were playing a big stage, during their MTV Alternative Nation moment in the sun, and they seemed kind of lost up there, and it definitely didn't feel like a Butthole Surfers gig from where I was standing. Good but not Essential like it used to be. I can't imagine it will be any different at the Palms. Oh well. Could just be the 'Old Guy' in me, but I'd rather not see it. Have fun if you're going though. :-) Everything's updated, all the Pictures from the Pentagram / Pigasus / Dead Neon / Demon Lung / 21 Strong gig @ the Cheyenne are up, and hopefully they won't be the last pictures I take there but if they are, oh well. :-) I got some video from that night too, and I'll upload that later. The Maxies are from Greenland people - GREENLAND!! :-)
New look for the website - do you like it??? :-) See that picture on the front of the page? Yeah, it was that kind of night @ the Cheyenne Saloon. Hamm's beer on tap and Newcastle by the gallon kept us all in a glorious spirit, and the music / performance of Pentagram will forever be imbedded into my brain as one of the inadvertently funniest things I've ever seen in my Life! LOL That Singer with the Marty Feldman eyes, I dunno, there was just something about him... That Dude has seen some things man... LOL It was a fantastic night made all the more better with all the good friends that came out and made it so. Pigasus just fucking killed it, performing the only non-Metal set of the night and setting the standard for high energy Rock and Roll bands to excel to. And they all do it while smoking cigarettes! :-) Dead Neon were just in-fucking-credible and I stood directly in front of the band grinning like an idiot at the onslaught of noise they were just scattering in random directions all around the nearly empty Cheyenne Saloon. Yeah, the turnout was piss poor to say the least, but that didn't stop any of the bands playing from giving it their all. I dunno, I like 'small, intimate' gigs. You can have more silly fun with your Friends that way. Special Thanks to 21 Strong for the hook up on discount tickets to get in. And would someone tell Demon Lung to stop playing those Black Sabbath covers? Their original material is soooooo good standing out on it's own that those covers aren't even necessary. Seattle... enough said.Friday night @ Artifice was fun, if only for the free birthday cake and cheap booze they serve up there nightly. The fucking Naked City Romeos turned the place on it's ear and gave it a good sloppy drunk fucking and spanked it in the ass when it was through, serving up an impressive serving of kick ass Punk Rock & Roll that made a Believer out of me. They were most excellent! Same with The People's Whiskey. Why those guys aren't a bigger band in the Scene is beyond me. They're really good and they have a great drummer. It's all about the Drummer you know! ;-) The Fremonts were the Fremonts, playing a countrified set of Rock tunes that would make people like Waylon Jennings or Buck Owens proud, but I just wasn't feeling it. Spent the majority of their set watching Ruckus play that new, cool looking bass of his. People dug them though, and one of the Birthday boys got up and sang a tune with them. Fun stuff. It was like a Birthday party celebration for 3 different people up in there, so the free booze was flowing and the free cake was being eaten! LOL Despite all the Drama at the end of the night, I was having a fun time! Didn't I look like I was? Didn't I look Happy, even if just for a moment? hahahaha For some reason I keep ending up @ Vamp'd on Thurs., hanging out with my 2 favorite waitresses ever, Ashley & Josette, checking out the Board of Fare at Local Band Thursday Nights. SOMEBODY told the Management there that I could get the word out about getting Local Punk Band night going on there instead, so I mentioned that I would let people out there know that if you're in a Punk Band and would like to play @ Vamp'd on Thurs. nights for $50 and some drink tickets, contact me by clicking here and I'll send you the guys cell phone number. Of course, you could probably go down there and talk to the people yourself, but that would require initiative, now wouldn't it? Speaking of new places for bands to play, ya know Danny, the Prince of Pinche Drummers who plays for Pigasus, has a regular job that involves slinging suds down @ the Bikini Bar on Spring Mountain, located where the old Sand Dollar Blues bar used to be. He's got the hip Rock and Roll crowd hanging out down there being cool, and he's gonna start booking bands to play there as well so again, if you're in a band and you're looking to have more then 2 or 3 options as far as places to play go, then hit up his Facebook page by clicking here and talk to him about bringing down DA ROCK! to the Bikini Bar. :-) The sun is coming up, so I should probably get to sleep. I got band practice with S.F.T. later on today, because I'm helping them out with their lack of drummer thing since their old drummer just moved away. I'm playing the Agnostic Front gig with them, so if you'd like to come out and see us play well gee, that would be swell! LOL Pretty quiet and easy weekend coming up. Green Jelly is playing with The Vermin @ Vamp'd on Friday, then Surrounded By Thieves and the Naked City Romeos are playing out in Hendertucky on Saturday, and the Legendary Diamondhead are playing @ the Bunkhouse on Sunday. See? Nice and easy weekend. Somewhere along the way the liver abuse has got to end, right? Right? ;-) Feeling brave? Head out to Hendertucky on Saturday to see this gig! LOL
I am sooooooooo in Love with Deadhand right now that it's not even funny! <3 I finally saw them play last night @ Hypnotic Billiards (in the same shopping center as Tony's, which makes some of the bombest Mexican food in the City!) and it's almost 24 hours later and I can't stop thinking about what a great performance they put on! Hypnotic Billiards sucks as a venue, because the stage is almost dead set against the front of the circular bar, leaving pretty much the entire prime viewing area directly in front of the stage non useable, forcing everyone to watch from either the left or the right of the stage, and the room's a bit bright as well, sucking up all the bottom end and making everything sound a wee bit trebley, but as far as a viable option for bands to play in a City that sorely needs one, Hypnotic Billiards will work! LOL Plus it's All Ages as well, which is always a plus here in town. I got there just as Ministry Of Love started to play, because the gig MOL was playing before the Signals Midwest gig was running late, and they were sounding really good for the first half of their set, but then I think technical difficulties killed the momentum midway through. It was either that or it was the slower, mid paced songs that they played towards the end of their set. Either or, but Hey! What do I know, right. The kids dug them. That's all that matters. :-) Signals Midwest were pretty good, with a drummer that was absolutely KILLING IT while the band played their energetic punky pop music!! I love watching good drummers and this guy was really, really good. The rest of the band were no slouches either, but the drummer was the Star. Seriously. I wish Signals Midwest would make Las Vegas a regular stop, because I'd definitely go check those guys out again. Good stuff. I've forgotten how great TheCore are, what with Sal and his whole 'Beardcore' thing keeping the band from playing as often as they should, but man, those guys haven't lost a thing since the last time I saw them play. Just fucking fantastic, although I think they played pretty much the same set as the last time I saw them. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, just saying. :-) They're one of my favorite Local bands and one of the bands I point out to others as a perfect example of what a good band is supposed to be like. I tried to take pictures but there were a couple of dooshy "professional photographer" types (1 of whom was Steve from punksinvegas.com... LOL) running around and getting in the way of my shots, so I just gave up and enjoyed the rest of their set from a distance. Soooooooo good TheCore are. :-) Oh, and did I mention that Deadhand were fucking AMAZING! hahaha Playing a great selection from their debut CD and a bunch of stuff they haven't even released yet, they were just fucking stellar and I seriously couldn't be prouder of Brendan. I've been with that kid through thick and thin, and with this latest release he's just beginning to hit his stride with his songwriting. Just fantastic stuff and they sounded sooooo good last night. Deadhand. Fuck yeah. Buy their new CD immediately and become a fan on their Facebook page by clicking here. I was gonna go to Saturday's Krum Bums / Dead Neon / Blatant / Toxic Holocaust gig, but I didn't have the $$$ to get in, and by the time Pulsar got back to me and said I would be on the Guest List, I had already made other plans. Sorry. I heard nothing about the gig though, if it was good or not. I'm sure it was though. I heard good things about that Hemlock / Klunk gig that happened @ the Cheyenne Saloon, which is cool. Hemlock has been around forever. Everyone in town has a Hemlock story, either good or bad, and who can forget those classic freeway off ramp wooden board gig announcements, huh? LOL Friday's birthday party for the Prince of Pinche Drummers was splendid. We didn't kill the keg because we were all concentrating on smoking ourselves retarded and shooting whiskey and chugging tequila! LOL There's Pictures of the night in the usual place, but the funny thing is, I don't remember taking or being in any of them! hahahaha Oh Tequila, how I Love thee!! <3Everything is updated. I don't know if I ever said anything about it on the website, but I'm back to playing drums in Youth Gone Mad, and we have a great gig block party thing going on this Sat. in Torrance, CA. with the Yeastie Boys, Million Kids, the Von Steins and a bunch of other cool bands. Yeah, not only am I a Drum Whore, but now I'm doing it in different states! LOL It's an All Day, All Ages extravaganza that is not to be missed! I'll be taking lots of photos, that's for sure! LOL And speaking of photos, the Hell Ride Music Festival posted a bunch of Pictures of the Vegascendents in action when we played there in Fullerton a while back, and you can go here to check them out on their Facebook page. They're pretty good and Thankfully, not centered on me! LOL The guy in the Double Down tee shirt dancing around and singing along was just some random drunken dude having fun. I thought the shirt was ironic, to say the least... heh heh. I'm not gonna make it to tonight's Black Jetts / Tinglerz / Unko Atama gig @ the Bunkhouse because I gotta go help a friend set up their Etsy.com web account, but if you got nothing better to do than please go support a couple of great Local bands and some band who's name translates to 'Shit Head'... heh heh heh It's gonna be a great week! Can't wait to see all my Friends and Family in CA. again!! Woo Hoo!! A pretty P.F.R. flyer, right?
Hey! I have a working website again! LOL
RollerCon is in town, and there's shit jumping off all over the place this weekend! Tomorrow night there are some great gigs happening around town, like Sloka @ the Double Down, Deadhand @ the Beauty Bar, and the Departures (straight outta Jersey!), Holding Onto Sound, the Quitters and Battle Born @ Yayo Taco, but the best place to be is Casa de Amoroso for Danny, the Prince of Pinche Drummers B-Day extravaganza! Bring your swimming outfits and some CAKE or something else to eat because this one may be going all night long! hahaha Happy Birthday Sir! keg Stands will be mandatory this evening! :-)
If you're still alive on Sat. and not in jail, the place to be that night is the Toxic Holocaust, Blatant, F.S.U., Krum Bums and Dead Neon gig @ the Bunkhouse. It should be an interesting gig to say the least. The Tinglerz are also playing that night @ the Motor City Cafe, so if you're not @ the Double Down trying to pick up on chubby drunk roller girls then you should be at 1 of those 2 gigs. Remember, going to see a band won't give you a disease. Maybe... heh heh
Sunday it's all about Deadhand, Signals Midwest and TheCore at Hypnotics, and if you're up early enough you can stop by there and catch Ministry Of Love with Broken End Stereo and a few other bands playing an All Ages gig for the kids. Oh, and Monday, the Black Jetts and the Tinglerz are playing @ the Bunkhouse with Unko Atama from S.F., so yeah, like I said, it's gonna be a busy weekend - hope to see you all somewhere!
 Best. Flyer. EVER!!! :-)
