Well, I had some time off, since Aluminum Falcon didn't practice yesterday, so I fucking relaxed and did fuck all. I watched cartoons and listened to Nick And Artie. I cleaned my house. I made tacos and rice. Yeah, this practice thing last week was a bit hectic, to say the least, but I think all the hard work payed off, because every band I was trying out with and jamming with liked me, so yeah, go me! LOL I'm gonna be filling in for Bingo Billy in Guilty By Association for a bit, until his torn ACL heals up and he's able to get back behind the kit. GBA has some big shows coming up, like the D.I. gig for Punk Rock Bowling, the Swingin' Utter$ gig @ the Bunkhouse (I think) and some gig just outside of Denver with The Black Pacific at some skate park or someplace like that, I dunno. I'm just the drummer. Nobody tells me anything, and that's just fine. :-) It's a beautiful day today. I think I'm gonna go hang around outside somewhere. Everything's updated. I just added the photos that Skateboard Bob took of Aluminum Falcon playing at the Motor City Cafe like, months ago, click here to see them, and I don't remember if I even mentioned those Die Laughing pictures I took when they played their going away party. Click here to check those out. I wish I would of gotten more pictures of the band playing, but I didn't charge my camera battery, and it died during the bands set. Booooooooo. Well, hopefully they can get back together, either here or in California, and I'll shoot them up something proper. Get their new CD if you haven't already. That thing is face shredding. The band's Facebook page is right here. :-)
Uhhhmmm... so exactly what happened at that Orgy show anyways? LOL It's been a very draining weekend, to say the least. Doing stuff not website related is much more appealing right now than anything else, but I had to sit down and post these Pigasus photos up - click here to check them out. I'm always curious as to what people do with the pictures they take at gigs - I rarely see any of them - but there's been a lot of photos being shared on Facebook from Pigasus' last gig @ the Motor City Cafe, so I thought I'd jump on that bandwagon and get my photos around before I forget about them. :-) I'm gonna get those pictures of the other band that played that night, The Swamp Gospel, up ASAP. That band is comprised of some real heavyweights. It features ex- Muffs, Tommyknockers, and Dirty Babies! Their Cramps derived sound was pretty cool to hear, and I'm looking forward to seeing them again. Everything's updated. Happy Birthday to Annie, Eric from the Naked City Romeos (his birthday gig is this Saturday I think) and my favorite Homosexual Pitt, who I made a special cake for. ;-) Enjoy!
Where the Fuck have I been? Where the FUCK have YOU been? hahaha This time, it wasn't killing Zombies that have kept me at bay, but it was a damn cold! Go figure! Apparently, it hit Vegas pretty hard, with a lot of people I know either getting slowed up by it or completely shut down because of it, so I think I'm in good company. Good to catch it now and get it out of the way, right? Now I can get back to the website, catching up on all the shit I've been lagging on. At least that's my excuse. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Anyways, all sorts of things going on here, with lots of good gigs happening and some coming up that potentially look interesting. I was hyped on tonight's gig @ the Divebar with the Queers, but after hearing about what happened there last Friday at the Agent Orange gig and then on Sat. with the D.I. gig, I think I'll be staying home. Drama and Drunken Fools Fighting just bores me to tears. Nice to know nothing changes there, despite what they're telling people, huh? What? You didn't know Agent Orange and D.I. played @ the Divebar this past weekend? Yeah, neither did a lot of people apparently. Promoters, Bars, Clubs, whatever, try getting the info out to people and, surprise surprise!, people might show up to the gigs. A strange concept I know. And BTW, Myspace is dead. If you're posting show flyers and gig information through that fucked up beyond belief vehicle, don't forget to post the same info on Friendster too. Having been on Myspace for over 6 years now, it's been a long strange trip watching them fuck themselves up into the unworkable mediocrity spam filled machine that it currently is. Promoters - get a Facebook page. Everyone you know is on there, and if you wanna entice people to get out and check out some of the bands you have playing your venue, that's the way to do it. That, and maybe send me the info beforehand, so I can put it on my Gig Calendar page and let all 9 people who read this website know what's coming up and what's going on. Yup.Happy Birthday Talitha!! XOXOXO times a zillion!! Me wuv you! <3 Pitt is coming to town for Thanksgiving. Just to grub with his family, and not to play a surprise reunion gig @ the Double Down with the Loud Pipes this weekend. Remember, you did NOT hear that from me. ;-) Pek was spinning through the channels and saw Jesse on Pawn Stars last night, fixing up some old Gibson ukulele that some shnook brought in. Pek's daughter seemed hyped that she had been playing and hanging out at a 'TV Star's" house. LOL Kids. You gotta love 'em. Me, I don't even hang out with Jesse in his "TV Star" house as much as I do Gibson, his precious beautiful baby boy. I just hang with him on the couch drinking Slurpees and watching football. Between watching him and watching Tony running around with Jesse's other boys playing football in the street, I'm fully entertained every Sunday afternoon. Yeah, that Tony. Grandpa Spooky. The Prince of Pinche Darkness. He came back from the South healthy and vibrant. Weird. It was a bit unsettling at first, but now I'm used to it. Tony's outlived his usefulness as mine and Jesse's Raiders good luck charm though, the bastard. After our drubbing by Pittsburgh yesterday, I'm convinced our good luck well has run dry. Looks like we'll have to rely on our backup rookie Receiver and backup Pollack Quarterback to get us that wild card spot in the playoffs. hee hee hee I've been catching up on my Hockey watching as of late, and man, the Sharks look wobbly as fuck this year. Inconsistent play and a giant clusterfuck at the Goalie position has them looking real, real bad. **sigh** Oh well. It's early, right? It's gonna be an interesting Season, that's for sure. Yeah, I know. Who cares, right? You wanna hear about the Drama! The trip to California. Upper deckers. Garage parties. Breaking shit. The whole Jack and Pigasus thing. Hank's party. The Flexx Bronco / Last Night's Heroes gig. What happened @ the Divebar. What happened at the Beauty Bar. Brookelyn finally leaving Las Vegas and her talking shit on Facebook about people and band mates she left behind. All of that stuff, right? Well too bad. I got better things to do, and I'm gonna get to doing them right now. Everything is updated. Yada yada yada.
Hey! Through the magic of the Internet I just found out that the Apocalyptics are playing @ the Double Down tonight with the Shakes and Season Of The Nightmare. Go out and support a great band that deserves it, in a place that I wouldn't be caught dead in... heh heh
I just added a shitload of upcoming gigs to the Gig Calendar page, stuff like, oh, I dunno, Youth Brigade, Zeke, Dead Kennedys, Misfits, Voodoo Glow Skulls (now moved to the Beauty Bar... UGH!), Fu Manchu, the Adicks, CH3, the Pixies, Agent Orange, Angry Samoans, D.I., that American Carnage Tour with Slayer / Anthrax / Megadeth (siiiiiiiiiick) and lots and lots of Local gigs too. Check it out and plan accordingly. Interesting things are a brewing, that's for sure. ;-)
Where do I begin? At the beginning, of course... I remember once having a conversation with my (then) Web Sensei Miss Roxie, and she mentioned something about how my website was like The National Enquirer of the Las Vegas punk scene, and we laughed and grabbed another beer and moved on. This whole Joe Perv thing that's going on has me thinking about that particular incident. Look, the "beauty" of this website is the anonymity factor involved. Anybody can go on that Tag Board to the left of these words and say WHATEVER the fuck they want to say. Many's the time I've gotten emails and phone calls begging me to take stuff off of there (you people know who you are), or yelling at me, saying things like how could I let that be put up there, or how come I didn't delete it, stuff like that. I'm not Big Brother. I'm not the Censor Police. Don't come on here and say little things like your band sucks, or say I saw so and so down on Fremont sucking cock for crack, or so and so's a faggot or stuff like that, and then get all butt hurt when someone does it back to you. That's not fair. Play nicely or don't play at all. We all pretty much know each other in real life. We can all laugh about what goes on here, right? Hope so. Now to address the Joe Perv situation. Look. I know the guy. I think we're about the same age. He does his thing, I do mine. If somebody else has a problem with him, that's between him and them. If Joe Perv has a problem with me, he knows who I am, and he knows what I look like. Talk to me anytime guy. If that really was Dylan Perv who posted that on the Tag Board (what's up dude?), I think he summed it up a Hell of a lot better than I ever could. Joe Perv's band reeks of desperation. And, just so you all know, The Objex won't be playing The Exploited gig. Here is the reason why. They were acting like Rockstars and Brian Saliba told them to take a hike. There's some more dirt for ya, the best paparazzi a growing band could have. Enjoy. My information comes straight from the source, but spin it any way you see fit. It's all fun and games until someone gets butt hurt, right? Anyways, Guilty By Association will be taking The Objex place on the bill. Who wants to bet me on how many D.I. covers Guilty By Association are gonna play. I say 2...hee hee hee Speaking of D.I., here's the Show Review of the gig. Pictures can be found to the right. I think it's a bit of a dry read, but it wasn't a good day for me, and to try to tell you I was hyped on things afterwords would be an exercise in futility, so I don't insult your intelligence or mine by saying otherwise. I present things in a matter of fact style. Phooey. The highlight of the day was Sin of course (<3), but finally meeting Zombalina (wowsers) and seeing Paul make a total bender out of himself was definitely funny... embarrassing, but funny.
You ever have one of those dreams where everything makes sense, all is good, and right about the time that you realize that all your problems could be solved if you just paid attention to what was going on, or to the circumstances around you or even to what was being said, then BLAMMO! You forget what the solution was, you forget what was being said, you forget the circumstances you found yourself in. Yeah, me too. Don't you hate it when that happens?
Happy Birthday to my Buddy and Secret Plaything Pitt. He's like a butt brother to me, and I'm sorry that I missed you when you were here compadre. I can't explain the overwhelming feeling of dread that washed over me while getting prepared to attend that Bronx gig. I hate the Double Down but it's cool when me and you go there late at night and drink and talk, as long as it's about ANYTHING but Guns N Roses... heh heh. Happy Birthday Homo. I love you.
Lots of Vegas bands doing stuff. Playing gigs, both locally and out of state, recording lots of new demos, taking pictures of themselves @ their drunken bar shows...I'm hyped on all of it. The problem is, none of the bands I'm in are doing any of that...heh heh. Someone tell me what's going on? Did I miss a Memo or something? I'm loving the Back Stabbath tunes, the Vulcans demo is amazing, The Mapes make me laugh every time one of their songs comes up in my rotation, Dirty Panties music is OK, and even the Swenson Street Hookers stuff is good in small doses. Summer is right around the corner and I have only 2 words to say ~ Desert Shows. Let's make this shit happen! Who's down?
I jumped the gun a bit about The Exploited thing. The show is on. British Invasion Tour 2007, here in Vegas. I was just sick of negotiating with "their people" and let Brian handle it after a bit. I just didn't give a fuck after a while. That's why he's the Brains of Doomsday Productions. He worked his ass off to make the show happen and bring it to Vegas, and all thanks go to him. Well, him and The Objex. Why The Objex, you ask? Well, that's because they were stupid (or desperate) enough to actually PAY to be on the bill. Yup. Pay To Pay is alive and well and living in Las Vegas, and bands like The Objex further perpetrate the fraud by their participation in the scam. Shame on them.
Music Reviews coming up, Calendar page is updated, San Jose is in a slump, and I'm lost in video game land. I like going to shows. Are there any good ones coming up? Besides the ones Infestshit are playing? :-) Just because a show is on my Gig Calendar doesn't mean that I would go to it. It's more of a courtesy to my friends and whatnot. Speaking of friends, see you all @ the D.I. show this Saturday. It's an early matinee show (remember when Matinee shows would happen @ The Huntridge Theatre? Neither do I.), so either stay up all night drinking and go to the show, or wake up early and start drinking before the show. Special Brew for breakfast... mmmmmmmmmmmm. And then there's the after party @ Sin's house. Moonpies and Strawberry Shortcakes for all. Holy Fuck. Somebody save me...
Finally. The last of the Drunken Debauchery stuff is up, including the photos of the Clusterfux, A Pretty Mess and Riot This. All the Links can be found to the right of these here words. The 3rd, and last, installment of the Infestshit Tour Pictures are up as well. Community Of Friends is a D.I.Y. Punk Record store that has recently opened, and you should all support it or fuck off. Click here to go to the Myspace page and learn all about it. This record store already has Hank's creepy stamp of approval, so it must be the shiz-nit. The art performance warehouse that Keil from the Vulcans has opened up is called The Louvre, and it's Myspace page can be found here. The High End Mystery Emporium had a great opening night I heard, so go here to their Myspace page and keep abreast of what those guys are up to. Fucking awesome that Vegas is suddenly getting alternatives to the usual stops on the local bar / club circuit. Better to play a record store / art space / warehouse than a smelly, smoky bar. Brian Infestshit is organizing a local benefit for Spike from D.R.I. to help pay some of the guitar players recently acquired medical bills, and is looking for bands to play the show non-gratis. Hit him up here to see if you can play, or to just offer to help out in whatever way you can. Who doesn't own a D.R.I. album, right? D.I. is playing The Cheyenne on Sat. with one of my fave local bands False Cause, so go out to the gig and buy Ben lots of shots of Jack. It will be a better show if you do. Las Vegas' # 1 Party Band 1/2 Ast are playing a kick ass LOCALS ONLY show on the 18th @ Take 1 with the Peccadilloes and False Cause. That show is not to be missed. F.S.P. are getting back together again and are playing on the 19th @ The N.Y. Cafe with Vermin From Venus and Lethal Injection. It's deja vu all over again. Go to these gigs and show support for YOUR scene, both old and new. Jupiter Shifter needs a drummer. The only requirement is to eat a bag of dicks from Rob Ruckus every now and then. Go to their Myspace page here if you can hang with the hardest working bass player in Las Vegas. Speaking of Jupiter Shifter, someone stole Kei's P.A. head and Brew's (ex-Dirty Babies) bass amp. Keep your eyes peeled for anyone selling stuff that matches that description. Payback is a mother fucker.
To even attempt to begin to tell you what an influence the Ramones were on my life is a waste of energy. It wasn't like Johnny's passing is a shock, but to contemplate the thought that there's only 1 original member left of this groundbreaking band is sure to make you feel even older than you already are. So pour yourself a drink, slap on your favorite Ramones album and just remember... don't mourn the loss, but rather celebrate the gift we were given. I've been getting a great response from people who read my last posting here. I don't really post on myspace.com anymore, since Jesse gets all "macho insecurity" on me whenever Devon tells him what I wrote. At least if they come here to read what I wrote I get counter hits! LOL But yeah, lots of people have been writing / asking questions about what happened between me and The Loud Pipes, and I thank all of you for even giving a fuck. It just trips me out that all of this vicious legal stuff has to happen. Oh well. But anyways, enough of my Drama, let's talk about some killer shows with By Death's Design @ Gameworks tonight and The Dirty Babies @ The Double Down this weekend. Check out the Gig Listings page for more info on all the things coming up here in town (as always). Nothing new posted, nothing much to say. I'm in a funk over Johnny's passing, and I'll probably be that way for awhile. Oh yeah, I heard a few things about the D.I. / T.S.O.L. show last night... and the funny part is that I'm sure it's all true... slow, sloppy and shitty... heh heh heh
Fucking ten million things going on at once, so let me just spit some thoughts at you as they come to me, OK? The Agent Orange - D.I. Show Review is up... click here to read that. Some more Pictures of both bands, as well as some pix of Anti-Flag are posted on this page here. The Loud Pipes have a plan to FINALLY finish the recording session and to at least have an official demo available to you all for our upcoming shows with By Death's Design in Arizona and the Supersuckers show at the Boston and the Sub/Hum/Ans show at the Huntridge, which nobody in charge over there seems to know anything about. But the show is listed on the Sub/Hum/Ans web site, so I guess it's a go. It's been days later and I still can't believe how terribly boring that Yaphet Kotto show was at Balcony Lights... you Airbag kids need to re-define the terms "amazing live band" and "mind blowing show"... heh heh heh. The Loud Pipes Club House is officially closing real soon... and I'm not quite sure why, but oh well. We're all going to some invite-only show tonight with Social Distortion and The Missing 23rd @ The Beach, and I know that it's gonna be FUN! Chicks in bikinis! Woo Hoo!
