Fat Dukes OF Fuck
It's very rare that I do this, but I just had to rush these fantastic Fat Dukes Of Fuck photos up to the website, just to try to illustrate what a great performance they put on this past Saturday @ Motor City Cafe. They were beyond outlandish, putting on an interactive display of toilet paper flinging lessons that had everyone in the place getting into what they were doing. Totally original set and really great to see. Musically they're in the vein of bands like the Melvins, Crowbar, and maybe even Buzzoven, and the Enthusiasm and Lunacy the band displays is both contagious and entertaining. Everyone was having a great time, and the music was really, really good. Holy fuck did I love watching the Fat Dukes Of Fuck mess up the Motor City Cafe. That was some pretty gnarly shit. Click here to check out the photos, or just click on the Pictures tab near the top of the page. Either or.

It's a Monday, and when I checked the ol' website email I found another Show Review from Karl Bakla in there! :-) If this keeps up it may add a shred of Dignity and Relevancy to this website! LOL The write up is for a gig with the Street Eaters, the Mapes, Time Crashers and the Hard Pipe Hitters, and you can read all about it by clicking right here. And for the record, I don't have a problem with the Hard Pipe Hitters. They got rid of that idiot from Infestshit, so they're now cool with me. I can support them guilt free. Now if only some other bands here in town would follow suit...

Speaking of guilt - I heard Guilty By Association killed it on Saturday @ the Double Clown. That's fucking cool. And they even played some new songs, which is scary! LOL And everybody loved the White Kaps, but how could you not? They're a great band that I've been into since we were both playing that La Habra backyard keg party scene waaaaaaaaaaaayyy back in the days. Riots galore and fun times for all. I hope if and when the White Kaps come back, they play someplace else, but I doubt it. Phooey.

Bunch of new stuff added to the website, like this Music Review for the latest release from Thick As Blood (click here to read that) and another on the latest release from Demon Lung called Pareidolia, which is nothing short of amazing. Click here to read that. I also added the American Buckshot Delightful demo to the Tunes page, to get you hyped up on our upcoming gig this Friday, and you can click here to check that out. Listen to it, download it, enjoy it, whatever. Everything is updated. I got a Teeter Hang Ups inversion table to check out today. ;-) Enjoy!

I don't even know where to begin, so I'm just gonna ramble like a baboon on speed and let things go. Sorry if it offends anyone... LOL Yeah, whatever. Hey, I had a blast in CO. Playing that skate park benefit in Silt on Sat. was friggin' awesome! Ran into Alex The Traveler while there, a Vegas kid who is friends with Sammy and used to hang out at the gigs back in the days @ Eastside Joe's and Yayo and all that shit. He's grown up a bit now and doing good and all that. It was cool catching up with him. And man, everybody is sure nice in CO. No attitudes, friendly, easy going, it was definitely a trip to deal with, to say the least! But yeah, we got the full on Rock Star treatment, with fully loaded rooms at the Holiday Inn, where all the bands were staying, and there was lots of room hopping, booze drinking and drug doings going on all weekend there. The guys were super nice people but man, did their bands suck ass! LOL Reno Divorce were total Social Distortion clones, and The Black Pacific were just sad, with their drunken guitar player ruining their entire set, and them playing like a zillion covers from bands as diverse as the Rolling Stones to Black Flag to David Bowie to Pegboy didn't help out either. The Black Pacific sounded like Pennywise to me, and they had a tee shirt for sale that was a total rip off of the Unknown Pleasures album by Joy Division, so yeah, I wasn't impressed. Another band I wasn't impressed with was these ass spelunking dooshbags called Red Tide Rising, who were the biggest fucking jokes I've seen in a long, long time. Imagine a bunch of scene kids with broomsticks rammed far up their asses and lacking any originality or musical talent whatsoever, and you'd have a slight idea of what Red Tide Rising are all about. Just. Fucking. Horrible. They had boxes on stage that they would stand on and do choreographed cockstar moves on them to the delight of no one who was there to see them. There's a band here in town that does the same thing and looks just as stupid when they do. I don't get it, but whatever. Every band that played had people in front of them watching them play, every band except for these jackoffs in Red Tide Rising. Whatever. Even the opening band, Arch Angel, had a mob of people watching them play as they massacred songs by Metallica, Pantera, Megadeth and Primus, if you can believe that. Too Many Puppies never sounded worse. LOL They were a bunch of high school kids so it was kind of cute to watch for a little bit. Yeah, the gig on Sat. was cool. The after party at Deidra's was off the hook. I also saw a White Water Raptor by the Colorado river that night. ;-)

We had the Sun. afternoon off and spent it doing the unusual tourist thing of just driving around looking stupid, when we stumbled upon Glenwood Springs, where my Hero Doc Holliday is supposedly buried. We found the place after a bit of a search (it's in a rich neighborhood at the base of the Williams Fork Mountains) and trekked a half a mile up this steep ass hill to get to the cemetery where the Legendary Gunfighter is resting somewhere. We payed our respects to the Man and I threw up near the grave marker. It seemed appropriate. ;-) We spent the rest of the afternoon @ Doc Holliday's Saloon, where we ate and drank and gambled like the tourists we are. We had to drag ourselves away from the place, but a few hours later in Denver, all was forgotten. The place we played that night, called the Lion's Lair, was a total Punk Rock dive bar, where the bartender Michelle was an old Vegas person who just got us hammered all night long gratis of all charges. Thank you ever so much dear! XOXO The bands we played with, Salt and Murder Hat, were exceptional, with Salt mining a heavy Grunge vibe and Murder Hat just killing it by playing everything from Thrash to Ska, and whatever they wanted to in between. Both bands annihilated the place, and it was fun playing the gig with them. You can go to Salt's Facebook page by clicking here, and you can go to Murder Hat's Facebook page by clicking here. They're both great bands full of super nice guys. Look forward to seeing them play here in Vegas sometime soon (I hope). The drive home on Monday was sweet, taking our time and hitting up some scenic viewpoints along the way. We saw the Oscar Meyer weinermobile. I spent way too much money in Utah's Beaver. The Comedy channels on satellite radio made the time go by much quicker. It was a great weekend with some good friends, full of fun times and lots and lots of shenanigans. Lots of Pictures to come.

Notice how I didn't mention the band I played the gigs with. Pretty cool, right? It's something I feel I have to do now because I don't wanna hear the BS that goes when one decides to exercise their right to air an opinion in public. Although the hubbub has died down majorly, I'm still getting emails from bitter ex-girlfriends and band mates who think they're slick and cool and anonymous. Think again people. You're fooling no one, and your antics aren't cute. You're not that slick. Seriously. I've got a busy week ahead of me, that's for sure. Lots of photos to edit and Gig info to add the the website. Anyone remember Punk Rock Bowling? The gig at the Aruba Hotel? Uh huh, me either. Yeah, I added the photos of D.I., Kids On Fire and Guilty by Association to the website, and you can click here for the D.I. photos, and here for the Kids On Fire pix, and here for the Guilty By Association photos. Thanks to Skateboard Bob for taking the GBA pictures. Everything is sort of updated. I got to get my ass to work.

Damn... your computer crashes and look at all the fun you miss out on. I totally spaced on going to see Bullet Train To Vegas this past weekend. Boooooo! I was so busy re-installing and configuring my computer (and lamenting the loss of some of my data files) that I completely forgot about that band playing. I hate when that happens. Factor into that equation the fact that I'm sick as a dog and you'll get an idea of where my head is at, which is heavily sedated and very medicated. Lots of people have complimented me on my Tag Message Board, and I see that Jesse even posted something on it. I'm flattered that he even bothers to check my web site out. The last time I went to his bands web site it was a train wreck of a mess. Nothing worked, the pictures sucked and Roxie was posting to herself on the Message Board. D00D, here's the news flash that I know you missed out on:

I'M NOT MAD ABOUT BEING KICKED OUT OF THE LOUD PIPES

There it is for you, in nice bold 14 point font. Get over it yourself. If I believed everything that everyone has been telling me about you Jesse, I'd have an even lower opinion of you than I already do. I could make a business out of correcting inaccuracies and myths being perpetrated about me and the band, but what for? I don't care, and anyone that has bothered to talk to me knows this is how I've always felt about the deception from the beginning. Ask Tony. Ask Pitt. This is all so funny, isn't it? I wasn't upset when they told me, nor was I upset when you told me a few days later. Why I can still remember how you begged me to join your band, promising me that you'd buy me a drum set, pay me to play gigs and just generally doing anything you could to get me to play with you. How many times did you tell me I was the best drummer you ever played with. Do you remember all that Jesse? And you think I'm upset over getting kicked out of the band? Sorry but the answer is no. You needed me buddy, not vice versa. Phooey. The fact that I dedicated even this much space to addressing this topic is idiotic. Go about your business and I'll go about mine, and never the two shall meet, OK? OK. Good luck playing with Brendan from Absent Minded on guitar, good luck with your 'real' job, good luck with getting to out of state shows without Pitt's van, and good luck raising the money to go to New Orleans. I posted a new Music reviews page, some old (The Half Empties, Sin City Ghouls, Descendents, Dirty Babies), some new (Agnostic Front, Sum 41, Elvis Costello and the In Honor compilation), all equally vapid and devoid of thought. I also updated the Links page, as well as added some old Show Reviews that I found lying around (Infestshit / The Heart Attacks @ Balcony Lights being my favorite). Loads of good shows coming up this weekend and next week... hope to see you all at some of the gigs.
