I dedicate this to all the people out there who live to read all about the shit I go through from time to time because of something that has been said on this website. I was hoping I would never have to compile another one of these pages, but apparently some people have nothing else better to do, myself included. For those of you who missed out on the Hurricane that was going on in the Comments section of my last post, you can click here to read about what Brandon and Amanda from False Cause and good ol' Chris Piss from who knows where, had to say about my comment about me not going to the D.R.I. gig that just happened this past Sat. because of the assholes that I knew were going to be there to see False Cause. I'm always shocked that people get so bent out of shape by what's said on this website, and that people put so much value into what I think and do and say, but again, apparently, some people do, and when I dare to say what I think or feel I am to be chastised immediately about it and given 50 lashes with a wet noodle for doing so... hee hee hee. In the long run, nothing ever changes, nothing is solved, and nothing becomes of it. It's a huge waste of time but a necessary evil when you dare to speak your mind or give an opinion like I do constantly. And because of it, False Cause isn't my Friend anymore. Boo fucking hoo. See how much sleep I lose over that. I will miss Ben's comments on all things Hockey and Punk related though... heh heh. Detroit sucks! ;-) If you wanna see the original post (where the comment flame war is still going on) just click here, otherwise, just click here to go to the page with the bulk of the bullshit messages those 3 were sending me all weekend. It's pretty Epic stuff.
Speaking of Sports, how bad is the officiating so far this football season? LOL Too many instances of just flat out bad calls that are affecting the Game, and when the NFL has to issue an apology to the Seattle Seahawks about the bad calls on 2 Giants touchdowns that shouldn't of been, then maybe it's time to have someone who can watch the watchmen, an overlord with the ability to overturn ridiculously bad calls that happen on the field. This mornings NFL standings would be a whole Hell of a lot different, that's for sure. I've got nothing but Faith in my beloved Oakland Raiders, but man, we need to tighten up our Defense and, as Jesse Jerk was saying on Sunday, 'put the Pollock in'. LOL
So yeah. Big weekend for gigs coming up, what with this Locals Loaded gig happening @ the LVCS downtown on Friday night with 400 Blows, who are this amazingly intense punk rock band in the vein of bands like The Bronx or Jesus Lizard - You do NOT wanna miss this gig: How sick is this gig? Seriously?? And then this gig on Saturday night with the Adicks, the Vermin and the Lesser You. ::yawn:: I definitely won't be in attendance at this gig, but it's not because of the opening bands. I love the Vermin and I'm dying to see The Lesser You, because my friends tell me good things about them, but I think I'm just over the whole Adicks thing. They remind me of someone that I really miss. Their music is no longer fun to me. Bad memories. Phooey. I'm hoping The Lesser You play a gig I can go to soon so I can check them out. I'm all about good bands here in Vegas, ya know? ;-)
The Quitters are NOT playing this gig, on account of double booking... And yeah, I guess both of these gigs are in conjunction with the Neon Reverb festival happening this weekend here in town, but I have no idea who else is playing or where. I saw the website and was not impressed with anything that I saw playing band wise. Might as well call it the Hipster Festival, because all the bands playing are pretty much ghey. Except for the Local bands of course! ;-)
The Hardest Working Local Band in Existence, Ministry Of Love, are coming back from a successful U.S. Tour where they encountered their share of drunken assholes, blown tires, frantic fans, house parties and the usual amount of blood, sex and booze that a band usually finds on the Road, and they're playing a homecoming gig @ Yayo Taco with a shitload of bands I've never heard of, except for the Green Lady Killers, of course. ;-) I think this is the place I'm gonna be on Saturday, because I can get some good food, good drinks, and also check out a few bands. Who knows. I may actually enjoy it! ;-)
And with that I will bid you Adieu! I'm off to do something extremely tedious yet fun, the likes of which a very few lucky people like myself can only participate in, and that's watch the sun rise. It's not easy being an opinionated Punk God, but somebody's gotta do it... hahahaha Everything's updated. New stuff added... blah blah blah
What happened to the website? I have no idea. I was working on it for hours yesterday without a clue as to what to look for, even dragging George into the fracas to try to help me get a handle on where things went wrong, but we couldn't figure it out. I sent out emails and help tickets to everyone I could think of, hoping for an answer to my query. Right as I was about to pass out this morning, I was chatting with Ben False Cause on Myspace, and he happened to mention that the website was up and needed to be updated. I was dumbfounded but happy. The website is up, I have no idea how, so enjoy it while it lasts, because it just may go down at any time again... hee hee hee.
Union 13 show was siiiiiiiiiick. Great turnout, no drama, just good times and circle pits for all. Thanks to everyone who came out and thanks to everyone for making it the event that it was. The Show Review will be up later. I'm still waiting for those pictures Liz Crumpet took of Infestshit... hint hint.
1/2 Ast is still the Greatest Band to ever come out of this wretched city. Las Vegas' # 1 Party Band, Makers of Mischief, Purveyors of Punkitude, and really nice guys to boot. Brent and John apparently feel that I don't praise them enough on here, so hopefully that will appease them for a little while, perhaps long enough for them to record those new songs they've been playing in their set lately.
Lots more to say, lots of stuff to add to the website, but for right now I gotta go do stuff. Hopefully by the time I get back I will be tired enough to sleep, pass out, whatever.
Weird Scenes Inside The Gold Mine... Am I going crazy? The answer is yes. I find it harder to write as of late, knowing what I want to say, and what I'm eventually going to say, are two completely different entities. What started out as some sort of fanboy fanzine about a scene that I had just moved into (Vegas had a lot more websites dedicated to it's music scene than it does now... *sigh*), and as a way to let my friends and family back home in CA. know what I'm up to here in Vegas, has morphed into this be all/end all source of what's going on or what's "cool" here in town and the #1 place to talk shit, and as the best source ever for local Las Vegas band drama. I find it harder to put out what I really want to say, having to censor myself or shape thoughts and images into interesting views for public consumption. I could give two shits less about what anybody thinks, and I think I've strayed from that for a bit. Not really, but you get my point hopefully. Weird people read these words. I'm not sure why. But from now on, I'm just gonna put it out there, make it more blog-like, trying to post something everyday and put into hard forms what's basically going on in Tag Board and Myspace land. I think that's what people come here for, something to read. Why not give it to them? I think the writers block is over. so let's make the most of it. The video game distraction is gone. I'm seeing things a lot clearer now than ever before. 2007 is one-quarter of the way over. I got way too much stuff to do, and too many people to do it with. I'm hoping this works. It's a good plan anyways. Best of intentions and all that. Wish me luck. I'm still not sure what's going on with Last Shot Tattoo. I heard it was canceling all shows after some fighting or bullshit that went down @ Friday's 1/2 Ast / False Cause / S.S. Hookers (thanx Sal !) gig. A few bands here in town say no shows are cancelled, a few bands say shows are cancelled. I don't care one way or the other. I would of done the good reporter thing and just called down there and asked what's up myself, or dropped them a line on their Myspace page (which can be found here), but I'm a lazy sod. so I didn't. Hope things work out for the place. I won't go there unless I have to, but lots of kids do go there, so it does serve a purpose... somewhat. Is everyone through with picking on The Objex / Joe Perv ? Have we given him enough Haterade to fuel his monster faces for another year ? Hope so. Let them play The Rainbow and The Slanted Clam to the coked out underage bar scene they so desperately want to be a part of (Maulus Clothing... ugh !) and be happy. I did this thing on Myspace yesterday where I highlighted a band that had requested to be my friend on there. If you're on my Friend's List you got the bulletin. That band was Leroy, and you can click here to see what him and his band are all about. Don't know why I did it, but I'm hoping to do it more. Idle Gossip page has been updated, as well as the Links page. Calendar page is updated daily, and I'm working on an idea for turning the Downloads page into this Vegas based band history kind of thing, highlighting demos and obscure stuff from long forgotten heroes of old. I have a shitload of demos, and I'm sure I could get my hands on a lot more. All you old guys with shoe boxes full of long forgotten demo tapes get a hold of me pronto. I'm really thinking I'm gonna do it. What's happening with Infestshit ? Good question. I have no idea. I could speculate, but I won't. Those kids got enough problems as it is... hahhahaha. Just kidding. I love them all. And me and George have been working with a guitarist as of late who has passed the rigorous standards we have presented every guitar player with, that is, the ability to count to 4 and the ability to show up to practice on time. Justin does both very well, and has a job and his own equipment. You'd be surprised at how many guitar players here in town have no equipment to call their own, heh heh heh. In other words, he's an anomaly as far as the world of guitarists are concerned. Hee hee hee Look for demo stuff coming very very soon. You have been warned.
There is sooo much going and and sooooooo much I wanna let you all in on, but until everything is set in concrete, I'm just gonna keep my mouth shut and say mums the word for now... it's been a long time coming. The future's so bright... WTF happened at the Take 1 gig this Friday past? Apparently, Take 1 has a bouncer there that needs an outlet for his steroid rage or something. Glass was broken, a huge drunken melee broke out, and now there's no more punk gigs to be had there. Phooey. New Music Reviews on the latest from Nomeansno, Resilience, Supersuckers, New York Dolls, the Riot This / Bruise Violet split, Sky Blue 72, Enemy 13, Clusterfux, Venom and last but not least, Infestshit. Click here to read them all. Band wise everything's going great. I think we found our 2 guitarist, but I'm not sure yet. Infestshit has a couple of shows coming up that might peek your interest. Oct. 8 @ Community Of Friends record store with my good buddy Ben and his band of street fighting men False Cause, Oct. 21 @ The Cooler Lounge with Vegas legends F.S.P., False Cause and Dirty Sanchez, and Oct. 28 with Vice Squad and Enemy 13, from El Paso, TX. Come out and witness the intensity those guys bring. Fuck. I've been tweaking the Photos page, since a few people were complaining about not being able to find photos on there, and about some of the links not working. The layout is different now, so tell me if you like it. I also re-edited some lost photos and added them to the page, including some pictures of Suite 666, The Wastrels and the Swing Shift Side Show, which I think were never used before. In any case, click here to check them out. More to come.
Finally. The last of the Drunken Debauchery stuff is up, including the photos of the Clusterfux, A Pretty Mess and Riot This. All the Links can be found to the right of these here words. The 3rd, and last, installment of the Infestshit Tour Pictures are up as well. Community Of Friends is a D.I.Y. Punk Record store that has recently opened, and you should all support it or fuck off. Click here to go to the Myspace page and learn all about it. This record store already has Hank's creepy stamp of approval, so it must be the shiz-nit. The art performance warehouse that Keil from the Vulcans has opened up is called The Louvre, and it's Myspace page can be found here. The High End Mystery Emporium had a great opening night I heard, so go here to their Myspace page and keep abreast of what those guys are up to. Fucking awesome that Vegas is suddenly getting alternatives to the usual stops on the local bar / club circuit. Better to play a record store / art space / warehouse than a smelly, smoky bar. Brian Infestshit is organizing a local benefit for Spike from D.R.I. to help pay some of the guitar players recently acquired medical bills, and is looking for bands to play the show non-gratis. Hit him up here to see if you can play, or to just offer to help out in whatever way you can. Who doesn't own a D.R.I. album, right? D.I. is playing The Cheyenne on Sat. with one of my fave local bands False Cause, so go out to the gig and buy Ben lots of shots of Jack. It will be a better show if you do. Las Vegas' # 1 Party Band 1/2 Ast are playing a kick ass LOCALS ONLY show on the 18th @ Take 1 with the Peccadilloes and False Cause. That show is not to be missed. F.S.P. are getting back together again and are playing on the 19th @ The N.Y. Cafe with Vermin From Venus and Lethal Injection. It's deja vu all over again. Go to these gigs and show support for YOUR scene, both old and new. Jupiter Shifter needs a drummer. The only requirement is to eat a bag of dicks from Rob Ruckus every now and then. Go to their Myspace page here if you can hang with the hardest working bass player in Las Vegas. Speaking of Jupiter Shifter, someone stole Kei's P.A. head and Brew's (ex-Dirty Babies) bass amp. Keep your eyes peeled for anyone selling stuff that matches that description. Payback is a mother fucker.
