Shit! I almost forgot to tell you about the February Music Reviews that were posted recently, so that's what I'm doing now! LOL I talk shit about the latest releases from Moon Women, Cerebral Ballzy, Metallica, Famous Last Words, G.P.B., the Nirvana tribute CD Newermind from Spin Magazine, Van Halen and Corrosion Of Conformity. Click here to read them. Also, I forgot to mention that The People's Whiskey @ the Bikini Bar photos were just added as well, so go to the right of these words and click on the photo of their guitar player who's name I don't know or you can just click here to check them out as well. Nothing much more to say really. Band practice has been killing me as of late, getting hyped up on recording this weekend @ Camel Hump Studios. It's gonna be fantastic! If you're in a band, click here to check out all the things they have to offer you. It's a pretty sick set up they got going there, so take advantage. Oh, and I don't think Aluminum Falcon is gonna be playing that gig @ the Cheyenne Saloon on Friday. We still haven't gotten a flyer from the Promoter and it just doesn't seem like it's worth it to play a gig that nobody knows anything about. We got better things to do with our time, like record a masterpiece! ;-) Add Comment Did I ever post this?? I don't think so, but if I did, Sorry. It's a video I took of the Naked City Romeo's performing Rock 'N Roll's For Kids, off of their fantastic debut CD release. I recorded it @ Artifice a while ago. If you missed the Music Review I did on it, you can click here to check it out for yourself. It's at the bottom of the page. This video is a little dark, so too bad if you can't see everything too clear. It's Punk Rock. It's supposed to be a bit dark. I watch this video all the time when I need a good laugh. The singer Bobbie is just the funniest guy to watch perform. This is Pentagram playing some song that I'm never going to know the Title of at the Cheyenne Saloon a while back. This was the gig that the infamous stickering 'Vandalism' incident went down at. No, I haven't heard anything back about that in case you were wondering. I do know what some of you are up to though... heh heh Yeah, I'm just cleaning up and clearing out a bunch of shit that either slipped through the cracks or I just plain forgot about. Did you see all the Pictures I posted of that Deadhand / Razorhoof / Smooth Sailing / G.P.B. gig @ Yayo Taco a while back? Well, if you didn't, you can click here or click on the photos to the right of these words here. Either or, I don't care. And check out the pix I took of Six Shooters To The Sky @ the Bikini Bar. They came out pretty sweet. My Family is in town, so I'm doing that whole Touristy thing with them, and because of that I'll be at that stupid Misfits gig @ the Hard Rock Cafe on Thursday... Boooooooooo. And yeah, I know - I'm a Hypocrite, but in my Defense, at least I admit it! LOL See ya there! There's all sorts of stuff happening this weekend, so check out the Gig Calendar page to see what's what. Me? I'm gonna be in 80's Heaven on Saturday - Blondie and then O.M.D.!!! Like, ohmygawd!! Ya know? Totally!! hahaha I live for gigs like that one last night. I really do. Small, intimate things with a handful of Friends in attendance, glorified practices really, and the vibe is just so relaxed, stress free, I dunno, something. The Bands are basically playing for each other and the 2 or 3 other idiots in attendance who have nothing better to do than to come out and check out some bands they've never heard of, on the slim chance that one of them might be worth remembering and maybe worth scrounging some change together to buy some merch off of the band to help their gas funds to get them to the next gig. Yeah, that's what last nights gig @ Yayo Taco was all about, and I loved every minute of it. I only made the effort to see Deadhand, who I am currently obsessed with, but seeing a band like Razorhoof just throw down the sickness with their Neurosis / Eyehategod Noise not Music was worth the $5 admission donation price alone. Click here to check out the bands Facebook page. And what's up with the new changes to the layout of Facebook? Can you say, LAME!! hahahaha Smooth Sailing were pretty good too, in a Refused / At The Drive In kind of way, shaking the walls of Yayo Taco loose with their double bass playing musical onslaught. Click here to check their Facebook page out and become their Friend. And I finally got to see G.P.B., who are just the cutest bunch of Punk kids ever! They're like a cross between Rancid and the Casualties, and every one of their songs is, uhhhmmm, how should I put this, "inspired", by bands like the Dead Boys, Sham 69 and the 4-Skins. They played a NOFX cover that never changed tempo once, even though it was supposed to... heh heh heh. Deadhand played a NOFX cover too, Linoleum, and had some random Punk kid sing it and lose his shit while doing so. His buddy helped out on backup vocals too... rad. It was cute and awesome at the same time. Totally laid back night @ Yayo Taco. You should of been there. You missed out. :-) Tomorrow night Pigasus is playing at the Beauty Bar for some reason, but I couldn't find shit on Facebook about it. I thought it was for something about tattoos or some shit, but who knows. Friday night Danny, The Prince of Drummers, is putting on a show at the place he works at, the Bikini Bar, that he's calling The Clash Of The Scenes, and it's featuring the Tinglerz, Six Shooters To The Sky and Babilos, and you can click here to check out all the info about it on the Facebook event page for it. Isn't Facebook wonderful? Takes all the effort out of promoting a gig! LOL And everybody is complaining about the new Facebook layout but I dunno, I like it. It works for me and simplifies everything. Whatever. And don't forget about this gig happening @ the Hypnotic Lounge this Saturday. It should be a night of Local Music Sexiness!!!! Deadhand, Aluminum Falcon and Holding Onto Sound. I was told that Dead Neon dropped off... Booooooooooooo. See ya there! XOXOXOXOXO Oakland - Buffalo... I'm over it. Final Score: Raiders 35 - Referees 28 - Bills 10. The bad officiating and missed calls were rampant and totally biased towards Buffalo. It got so bad there towards the end that the Referees kept throwing flags, and then they would have to huddle together just to come to the conclusion that there was no infraction on the play! WTF? And that 'Review' in the last seconds of the game that allowed Buffalo to regroup and catch their breath before they scored the winning touchdown? What was that about? Total Bullshit, that's what! And it took 10 minutes after the game was over to declare it an official Bills win, because they had to review that Hail Mary pass Campbell put up to end the game. Oh whatever. There's no Honor in that Win. Fuck you Buffalo. And fuck you Danny. :-) Mayweather / Ortiz. The Booooooooo's from the crowd were well deserved. It wasn't a cheap shot, and Ortiz is known for head butting, so the Ref should of been more assertive in that matter, and any fighter knows you keep your hands up no matter what, so whatever. Ortiz is a tomato who was gonna lose to Mayweather regardless. Floyd don't fight anyone he knows he can't beat. Until Mayweather fights Pacquiao, I'm always gonna regard him as a pussy. Of course it's being totally ignored in the Media, but I've been watching this with a most jaundiced and jaded eye since it's start this past Saturday. OccupyWallSt.org I'm not sure what the occupation of Wall Street is supposed to bring about, but it's a start I guess. Their Declaration of Intent is a very interesting read. I gave money to buy them food and stuff, because I'm a Rebel like that. hahahaah Viva La Revolution! I'm doing my part - what about Y-O-U? ;-) There's a cool little gig happening @ Yayo Taco tomorrow night with Deadhand, G.P.B., Smooth Sailing and Razorhoof. Don't know who those last 2 bands are, but any chance I get to see Deadhand is one I'm going to take. If you haven't bought their self titled debut release yet, you are blowing it big time! Make amends for that by stopping by Yayo and getting your grub on, checking out some bands, and buying that Deadhand CD from 1 of the 3 handsome fellows in that band. I'll leave it to you to decide which one of them is the handsome one... heh heh heh Busy week ahead! Lots of Gigs coming up, so check out the Gig Calendar page and plan accordingly. Everything is updated. New Pictures of Machine Gun Vendetta and Surrounded By Thieves just added, so check them out. :-) There's a reason why I stay away from certain bands, and that reason is Drama. Drama usually associated with a certain member of the band, or with the people who support certain bands. Sometimes it's both. Locally, there are bands here in town that I will have NOTHING to do with, just because of the past actions of a few of their members and their support / condoning of them and their actions. I think this has always been obvious to most of you, and my friends and I all make jokes about it, because it's no big thing - always Business, never Personal, ya know? I usually just ignore said bands and they either grow up or grow out of the Scene, showing themselves as the true Poseurs that they always were, but a few of them stick around and start and join other bands, which is a shame because sometimes the new bands are really fucking ace, and I can't get behind them and support them because of who's in the band. Phooey. I don't keep up on the bands and again, just ignore them and hope that they go away. I really can't be bothered. I really don't care what they're doing or what they're up to. I only know about it if someone tells me about it, which leads me to this. A fight at a bar gig. Big whoop dee doo! Since it involved a band that I don't support, everyone felt the urgency to tell me about it and to ask what I thought about what happened. Look, I really don't care about it, and I know EXACTLY what happened, but so what? Big fight / Drama started by fans of a certain band. Shit got scary, and the Soundman got a knife pulled on him - that sux but what do you expect at THAT type of show with THOSE type of bands and the crowd that THEY bring in. Violence is almost inevitable when dealing with them, and for those involved who claim taking part of it like it's something cool, like some ignorant jock would, well, that's just fucking laughable. And bragging about it on Facebook and naming the names of those involved is always a laugh as well. Fucking retards, I swear. Had a great trip to Cali this past weekend. Hung out in a Heroin den. Played at a Tweeker bar. The only thing missing was the chicken wire strung out in front of the stage! LOL Ate and Drank. Took pictures of stuff. Posted onethirtyeight.org stickers on everything. Had fun. It was a lot better than I'm making it out to be, I assure you. ;-) Came Home to Romance and Relaxation, which is always a good thing. My toothache pain is gone, which is weird, because I don't think toothache pain just goes away. Oh well. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Everything is updated. The Pictures I took of Sloka @ the Tropics Lounge in Fullerton are up, and you can click here to go check them out. That new camera of mine is awesome! There's lots of stuff going on this weekend, starting off with that Napalm Raid gig @ Yayo Taco, then there's some great bands playing at the Double Down on Fri. and Sat., and that Las Vegas Summer Punk Fest is also going down this weekend too. Should be interesting to see how THAT little thing plays out. There's the G.P.B. CD release party going on @ the Sanctuary on Friday, Unfair Fight is playing with Ringworm @ the Bunkhouse on Sat., and Ty Segall @ the Beauty Bar on Sunday. Should be a cool weekend. :-) I leave you with this heartwarming video of a whale being saved from some nylon netting he got trapped in while swimming around. The way he shows his gratitude is just the coolest thing ever. <3 See you around. |
