OK, so let's get back to business, shall we? First off, there's this going down tonight @ the LVCS with a quiet, soft spoken band called the Melvins - perhaps you've heard of them? They're at the tail end run of a 51 States in 51 Days tour that has them getting into all sorts of shenanigans on the road, and if you haven't been keeping up with them via their on-line tour diary at Spin magazine, then you've been missing out on some interesting experiences and interactions. George Thorogood? Really? ha ha ha Click here to catch up on it if you're not already. Also, tonight is Dale's birthday, so bring him lots of gifts, because he likes that sort of thing. ;-) I don't know who the other idiots are listed on this bill, well, except for the 2 idiots I know, Jenn and Rex, and I don't know if they are opening bands or just boring sets of DJ spun music that plays in the background while everyone stands around bored, but the Melvins gig tonight should be intense. And loud. Bring earplugs. You'll thank me later. I don't think I'm gonna make it out though. I got band practice tonight and $40 is pretty steep to pay for a band I used to pay $3 to see @ Al's bar on a Thurs. night... heh heh Add Comment Sunday's American Buckshot BBQ went extremely well. The libations were cold and plentiful, the fire was bright and red hot, the hot dogs were bacon wrapped and the carne asada was piled high on the plate. Chips and salsa everywhere, and a crazy ass lightning storm to cap the evening. Yup. Pretty fun stuff. And the band practice went well too. Our resident Soundman / Roadie Bob said were finally starting to sound good. I think the three piece line up is starting to kick in. Finally. We have a gig coming up in a few weeks at the Double Clown, and I'm almost positive we are no where near being close to ready, but Dean is an impatient man, and he's itching to play a gig, so there ya go. American Buckshot on the 27th of this month. There's a flyer floating around somewhere but it's too crappy for me to post up on here... heh We're like the 7th band playing on a clusterfuck of a show, but we go on first @ 10, so thankfully I'll only be there for a short while, play the gig, and then get the fuck out of there. My Friend and I from out of town have better things to do. ;-) Speaking of clusterfucks, what's up with that Bane show? LOL It's no longer happening at the Knights Hall, because the venue cancelled it last minute, and so now it's been combined with an already established gig that was happening at the Sanctuary, and Unfair Fight is no longer playing, which is the only reason why I was going to go to the gig. Phooey. No offense to Bane, because they're an alright band, but their fans are some major Tools and Dooshbags, so yeah, no Unfair Fight, no Bane gig for me! It's not worth the trouble. If you are still going though, bring some comfortable shoes because the gig has 9, count them, 9, bands playing. Ouch! Speaking of ouch, does anyone have anything good to say about the Bouncing Souls gig? LOL What did you seriously expect? More songs from Maniacal Laughter? The Good, The Bad And The Argyle? Yeah right. Those days are long gone and over, and the new material the band is touring on is just atrocious. I can't even think of the last new Bouncing Souls release that I enjoyed, and that's sad. Sorry, I guess I'm not a True Believer... hahaha Speaking of sad, the new Green Day single sucks ass. Listen to it here: soundcloud.com/greenday I spent the tail end of my Monday evening listening to Dave interview Haywood J. from the Mapes on No Sale radio (www.nosaleradio.org). The music selection was eclectic, and the chat room lively. It was pretty fun. I don't know if it's a weekly ongoing thing or what, but if it is, you should definitely tune in next week and give it a listen. You can even request stuff! My requests for KISS and the Germs could not be fulfilled. Maybe next week, no? ;-) hahaha Everything is updated. Lots of Gigs going down this weekend - including N.J. Pete's Birthday Party happening this Sat. at Motor City. The Fat Dukes Of Fuck and The Civilians are playing. Should be a fantastic time... ...and the Lamb opened the third Seal, and I heard the third living Creature say "Come and See" and behold a Black Horse, and upon him sat Death, and in its hand a pair of Scales... Piece of shit sentenced to Death for Murder Yeah, it's definitely a weird day today. Chimpanzees running crazy in the streets, Curl Up And Die announcing their getting back together, which I 'kind of' heard something about a while ago, and, of course, the Killers have a new song out called Runaways. Barf. I used to make massive fun of the Killers back when they were first starting out, but then I stopped because it bored me, but after my recent trip to the KISS mini golf place, and seeing those dooshbags in that band up on the wall as some sort of offering to ascertain the status of some of the legendary people who put Vegas on the map (like Bugsy Siegel) just makes me despise that band even more than I already do, which is saying a LOT! heh heh I thought Slaughter would of been more appropriate, but what do I know? LOL I seriously can't wait to go back to KISS mini golf - hopefully with my camera this time! Time... time to talk about some gigs. First one is this Random Orbits / Deadhand / TheCore gig going down at Yayo Taco tonight. This one totally slipped through my fingers as I had been sent the flyer weeks ago, but just never got around to putting it up on the website for whatever bong hit induced reason. It's fucking FREE and you ain't got nothing better to do tonight, so come on out and represent! :-) And then tomorrow night, besides that Bouncing Souls gig @ the HOB, there's this little interesting gig happening at Favorite's, a venue which apparently nobody likes! LOL What did you people expect? Change? Really? Same Idiots, same Drama. You can't teach an old dog new tricks, and believe me, there are some real old dogs and real old tricks inhabiting that place. Anyways, The People's Whiskey will be providing musical accompaniment to the sexy shenanigans of the Battle Born Burlesque, featuring my dear friend Lou Lou Roxy, so if you're feeling adventurous stop by. Everything's updated. I gotta run. Too Hip - Gotta Go. See you at the gigs! :-) heh heh heh Detroit Rock City - funny movie. :-) And it's 4:20 in the morning... suhhh-weeeet! I did fuck all this weekend and it felt pretty good. I mean, I was doing 2 a day band practices - each practice with a different band, which will definitely keep you on your toes, that's for sure. I broke my drum kick pedal during the process, and by that I mean the steel bar that makes the pedals move just broke, like, snapped in two... weird. Bringing the Thunder each and every time. Yup! Thankfully Sunday's practice with Pigasus was called off, because Jesse & Roxie bid on some trip to Disneyland at some 80's themed auction the night before and they won, so for her Birthday they drove out to Anaheim, and they're even getting the star treatment because of Jesse's association with that Pawn Stars show. That is sooooo funny it's cool! LOL Couldn't happen to 2 nicer people. I'm sure they're gonna have the greatest time there. Not as good a time as when the Loud Pipes went there, but still... heh heh Congrats to Demon Lung on their CD release party. Kudos for whoever kicked the creepy drunk guy in the face at that same gig. I didn't wake up on Saturday morning to read anything about any naked, drunken escapades leading to any arrests in Hendertucky, so I can only assume that The People's Whiskey 420 party went well and stayed within Legal boundaries. Bob tried to tell me about The Dirty Panties gig @ the Double Clown, but he wasn't making any sense, so I'm guessing it was a fun time had by all. That's how it's supposed to be. Everyone Happy and having Fun. :-) Thanks to everyone for your concerns about me, but I'm fine. Seriously. Everything is updated. New photos of Vihan Rytmi were posted last week (click here to see them) but I forgot to tell anyone about them, and I just posted the photos I took of Deadhand @ the Double Clown a little while ago, and you can click here to see them. I'm gonna go back to listening to Stern before I get some sleep. I gotta wake up early to get a kick drum pedal at Guitar Center before band practice. Pigasus is playing @ the Bar & Bistro this Sat. night for Bobby Franks Birthday Party, and then on Cinco de Mayo @ the Arts Factory with the Mapes - get HYPED!! <3 2 hours. 2 fucking hours I sat inside of Yayo Taco, waiting for something, anything to happen. I was starting to get irritated at last nights Coke Bust gig @ Yayo Taco. The reason why me, and all 5 bands who were scheduled to play, were sitting around looking stupid was because there was no P.A. available. Yeah, you read that right. Whatever dumbass promoter was responsible for the gig apparently thought that Yayo Taco was a venue and not a taco shop and thought that a P.A. would be provided. Just. Fucking. Great. So an hour after the gig was supposed to start all that the bands could come up with was 2 little ass P.A. speakers - no cables, no microphones, not even 2 stands to hold these little ass speakers up - it was pathetic, and once we heard the bands bitching about playing time and who was playing in what slot I called it a night and gave up on the gig. Sorry Coke Bust. I really wanted to see you play but apparently it wasn't meant to be. Oh well. I also really wanted to see all my Friends on Facebook who said they were gonna be there, but, in a perfect example of it, I guess it's easier to do things on Facebook than in real life, like how people keep posting all that Occupy Wall Street shit, or Occupy Vegas or whatever, and then they don't even bother to show up. Hypocrites. Phooey. I believe it was Gandhi who said First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win in regards to peaceful protesting, and all I can say to that is that you couldn't be more wrong if you tried! LOL The Govt. is cracking down tomorrow on all that shit, with the big show down coming at sunrise with the Occupy Wall Street crew. Fuhrer Bloomberg and his Gestapo stormtroopers are taking back that park, and there ain't a thing that peaceful protesting is gonna do to stop it. Talk - Action = Zero. As the MC5 said, It's time to kick out the Jams Motherfucker!! And before you think to yourself that if you were there, you'd be right there on the front line fighting it out against the Police, just stop it, because you wouldn't. You're a Hypocrite arm chair rebel who watches what's going on from safe behind your computer screen. Just quit it. I wouldn't be there because it's not a cause that I believe in fighting for. Sorry. I support the Fight but won't fight for it, if that makes any sense. Politics. Phooey. Zeke / Custom Made Scare @ the LVCS tomorrow - Who's going besides me??? :-) Yeah, the Las Vegas Shakedown is a joke. They should just call it what it is, and that's Viva Las Vegas without the car show. It's also pretty stupid that a lot of the bands are playing at other venues around town for Free, so why would you pay the ridiculously high price to see the headliner? In the case of Zeke it's worth it, but the rest of the gigs? Fuck off. And I hate that there aren't enough Local bands on the fucking bills. How the Fremonts got that opening slot at the Zeke gig is beyond me (wink wink), but since it starts at 4 o'clock, I doubt that anyone of the 21 and over crowd that Zeke fans are made of will be there. I know I won't. Enjoy playing to that empty room guys. And Flexx Bronco again? Really? Weren't they just here like 2 months ago? LOL They're an OK band but come on. Why couldn't The People's Whiskey play that gig in that spot? :-) Might guarantee that some Locals get there early, but that makes too much sense, so I'll just stop now. And I guess they didn't need to advertise either. Oh well. Deadbolt is playing the Opening Night kickoff tonight, and hardly anybody knows about it. Good job there Ralph. Go cater to that Las Vegas Weekly crowd some more, and lemme know how that works out, OK? Thanx! Everything is updated. You know the drill. See you somewhere soon. :-) |
