Why is it that everything happens gig wise at once here in Vegas? It's either like there's nothing going on, or there's all sorts of shit going on. Ugh! It gets a bit frustrating at times, but I guess that's how it goes. And what's with bands sending me the flyers for their gigs the day before or the day of their gig, asking me to put it up on the website, and then getting pissy at me when I don't. Fuck you! To promote a gig properly, you can't just make a Facebook invite page and spread a flyer around on there. No wonder you guys bitch about how the Scene sucks because there was only 10 people to see you on a Weds. night. Jackasses. Oh well. Anyways, the fun tomorrow is @ First Friday, of course, and that kicks off with the Seriouslys and Stagnetti's Cock playing in the parking lot of Talk Of The Town, my 2nd favorite strip club in town. ;-) What's up with the band Stagnetti's Cock? Why does everyone talk shit about them? And more importantly, why should they care? LOL The flyer says the gig starts @ 10 pm, but I don't know how that's possible, if it's really a First Friday event kind of thing. 10 o'clock is when most things are shutting down, not starting up.
If that gig is not Punk Rock enough for you, then this one definitely should fix that dilemma! LOL Also on Friday night is the 2 year anniversary of Ecophagy Records, a Local D.I.Y. record label / Distro that you should all support and buy stuff from. The people that run that label don't like me, but that doesn't mean I can't give props where props are due. :-) Like I said, they're having their 2 year anniversary party tomorrow @ Yayo Taco and Life's Torment are playing, and a bunch of other bands I know nothing about are playing as well, bands with names like Gravehill, Zoloa and Seas Will Rise. It's also the debut of a Local band called Vihan Rytmi, which is apparently Swedish for "We Kick Ass" or something. The band features Larry from Life's Torment and Adrian from Alarido, a band that broke up waaaaayyy too soon IMO. If you don't catch Vihan Rytmi @ Yayo Taco, you can catch them and Seas Will Rise and Zoloa playing later on that night @ the Double Down. It's a pretty shitty thing to do, play 2 different gigs on the same day, but since it's the Double Down, who gives a shit, ya know? LOL Fuck that place. And if this is not enough for you to do on a Friday night, the Burning Man people are, of course, burning a woman somewhere downtown, and N.E. Last Words are playing @ 8 Ball Bail Bonds, and I.D.F.I. are playing @ the Motor City Cafe with a couple of shitty loser bands, where 90% of the crowd will be outside tweeking and drinking. Plan your night accordingly. ;-)
And then there's Saturday. Start off by watching 2 Troma movies @ the Sci-Fi Center (Demented Death Farm Massacre and Redneck Zombies), and then get your ass to the Cheyenne Saloon for the Authority Zero, S.F.T. and Surrounded By Thieves gig. That is going to be fun F-U-N!! And I'm happy to say that S.F.T. has their original drummer Darryl back. :-)
And then Sunday it's all about Lagwagon / Nothington / Cobra Skulls @ the LVCS. You can get your tickets by clicking here. What? You haven't heard about that gig? Well don't worry - not a lot of people have. Hopefully people turn out for it, because all the bands are good, but if not, too bad. Promotion people, promotion. It's not a bad thing, I swear. I probably won't go to any of these gigs though, because I'm planning on attending the Wedding of Tess Fosburgh and Jesse Nabers, Super Photographer Extraordinaire on Saturday. To see this guy so blissfully happy and content with his lovely Lady Tess has truly been a trip, to say the least. They say that there is a perfect match out there for everyone, and I'm glad that these 2 found each other. Congratulations to the both of you. May your Future together be nothing but Goodness. Everything's updated. Blah blah blah...
Yeah, I realize the irony in protesting censorship of the Internet by self-censoring myself ON the Internet, but still, pretty funny stuff. It's also funny how the news about the censorship of the Internet movement was spread via the Internet as well. Oh the delicious irony! The fact that some people out there optimistically believe that they have any say in what the Government is or isn't going to do is laughable to me, although this little censorship issue apparently caused 30 Senators and Congressmen to flip-flop on their position on this, so who knows? Maybe the People can have a say in what goes on in their Government? Or maybe this is feeding the masses just enough to keep them from starving. Giving the dog a bone. Whatever. I thought it was interesting. I participated. The End.
Hey! I don't know if you saw the flyer on your way in here, but there is this pretty fun looking gig happening this Friday at the LVCS: Adolescents / Youth Brigade / The Vermin / TheCore It should be interesting, to say the least. I haven't seen either headlining band in a while, so hearing them running through their 'Greatest Hits set seems like a pretty good way to cap off a Friday night. My Friday night is going to start at the Hellpop Record Swap Meet, where I'm gonna have a grip of cash to buy records with, and if I'm not too busy drooling over some pretty colored vinyl, I might check out some of the bands that are playing, which includes Life's Torment, Die Laughing and, of course, The Mapes. <3 There's some new band playing that's composed of members of 1/2 Ast, but those guys don't like me anymore, so phooey to them. Check them out if you're there though.
Speaking of things you should check out if you're so inclined, tonight @ the Double Down Deadhand are playing some AVN kickoff party or some shit. They're playing with some shitty bands that aren't worth mentioning, bands that think that sexual gimmicks and sloppy blow jobs will allow them to 'make it', whatever that means. The sad part is that some of my Friends like them... Jeesh! hahaha Whatever, go check out Deadhand tonight - you will not be disappointed, unless they decide to play some of their shitty acoustic covers they've been doing as of late for that other 'Punk Rock' website here in town. Acoustic guitars are NOT Punk Rock. Neither are beards, for that matter. Get over it already. Seriously.
_Oh, Saturday night this band called Thousand Watt Stare is playing at the Bikini Bar. I'm told they're pretty good and that I might like them, but again, they're playing with some shitty band that's not worth supporting and because of that, I'll be staying at home. Man, I wish these people in these bands would just go away. You can't talk shit about people, run away without paying what you owed them, burning all your bridges in this town and then move away and then come back after a few years and just act like everything is OK and all is forgotten and forgiven. Just because you found new people to believe your bullshit doesn't mean that you're the 'Cool Guy' that those ignorant few think you are. Well, it's either that or maybe I'm just an asshole, I dunno... heh heh Bikini Bar is a cool place, and if you got nothing better to do on Saturday then stop by and check out Thousand Watt Stare and tell me how they were. :-)
Sunday! Sunday!! Sunday!!! Old School Metal comes to the House of Boooooo's when Anthrax, Testament and Death Angel tear shit up there. I've seen all 3 of those bands many, many times before and if I'm feeling all nostalgic I may just stop by and see how well they've aged. Anthrax's new album Worship Music is pretty good, so I may go just to hear how new songs like Fight 'Em Till You Can't and The Devil You Know sound live. And, to watch Charlie Benante play drums. <3
Everything is updated. See you around.
I have been watching this at every chance possible. Mike Judge was a Guest Speaker at Comic Con this year, and he unveiled some brand new footage from the upcoming Beavis & Butthead cartoon series. I haven't laughed this hard in years. Oh my fucking GAWD it has been too long without these guys. <3
Amy Winehouse died this weekend and the less said about that the better. I believe the term I lovingly adhered to her in Death was "piece of shit junkie alcoholic no talent LOSER", which I thought was pretty spot on, but apparently having and airing an Opinion is enough to get you called 'heartless' and 'a piece of shit'... hahaha Oh Interznets, how I love you! XOXOXO
See this picture? It's a shot of the lead singer of the band Ringworm, who played at the Bunkhouse this past Sat. They sucked, BTW.
It's also the ONLY picture I was able to snap off, because just as I was snapping this pic some fucking dooshbag purposely slammed into me and sent me flying across the room. Fucking jackoff. I love how these pussies will only come near me when I'm not paying attention to them. When I'm standing there waiting for them to come around, ready to lay a fist or a knee into them, they suddenly don't come anywhere near me, but when I'm focusing on taking pictures and not paying attention to them, then the cheap shots ensue. Cowards. Same thing was happening to me at the gig @ Yayo Taco this past Thursday. Some people are respectful, some aren't, but whatever. If I'm getting nailed by cheap shot artists while trying to take pictures of a band, then I'll just walk away. No skin off my nose, but it sometimes limits me to how many pictures I can take. That's what happened with those Life's Torment photos I took that night. I spent most of the bands set watching out for the cheap shot faggots who were slamming around while the band was just killing it. I'm sure if the band would of been paying attention, they could of said something, but they didn't, but after watching the dickless hardcore dancing assholes completely ruin everyone's fun time by doing those gay ass dance moves and handing out cheap shots to anyone who was just trying to watch the band, I got to thinking. The Bunkhouse was where that last bit of Drama involving 'That Band' (and yeah, you guys are considered EXACTLY that - deal with it) happened at. Big fight went down, it was some friends of the band, or at least somebody they knew of, because whenever anyone posted a bragging comment on their Facebook page, comments that included names of those involved or statements of what they did or what happened, they quickly deleted it off of their page. Reminded me of that Adicks shit that went on with the LVCS a while back. Officially, 'That Band's' stance was that "they couldn't control what their fans do", and I have to call shenanigans on that. Of course you can control what's going on in the crowd! The thought that you can't is just ludicrous! I've seen waaaaay too many bands do exactly that, stopping their set by calling out some assholes fighting in the crowd or for being obnoxious and ruining everyone's good time. If you, as a Band, don't think you have that ability to control the crowd, well, that's not saying much for your band now, is it? It was while watching Ringworm thrash about on stage from the safety of a bar stool that I was putting all this together. I had to do something. They weren't a very good band. LOL But it was while watching the crowd ebb and flow from the few asshole dancers ruining things for everyone that I was thinking all this through. The homo hardcore dancers would start picking up the change, throwing out errant kicks and shoves to people who were just trying to watch the gig, and the band just played on, either ignorant of what was going on, or apathetic with that lame "we can't control the crowd" rhetoric like 'That Band', which is a bit of a Cockstar thing to do when you think about it, or perhaps maybe even endorsing it a bit. Is this what it's come to? Really? I hate to sound like That Old Guy, but dancing used to be a fun thing to do at gigs - even slamming. And the rule was that you never got anyone involved with it if they didn't want to. It stayed in the area and that was it. Yeah, of course it got out of hand from time to time, but for the most part, it was just good, sweaty fun. Nowadays it seems like a macho jock shithead little dick thing, but whatever. New Rule: Cheap shots being thrown at me - I'm gone. I got better things to do at a gig, like get drunk and put onethirtyeight.org stickers up on everything! ;-) Bands, learn to control your crowd of Friends or start to act like you give a shit. It's not that hard to do.Yeah, Saturdays gig was pretty weird. The atmosphere was heavy with tension, due to the turnout being a total sausage party, which most gigs are, but the abundance of flat brimmed baseball hats, basketball jerseys, and jailhouse tattoos on suburban white kids from affluent neighborhoods just ensured that Drama was going to ensure, and of course it did. There was even some Baby Momma Drama going down, which was just like the icing on the cake! LOL Kudos to Pulsar and Josh and the other Security dudes for keeping the fighting down to a minimum. No knives were pulled on anyone, not even the Soundman! ;-) I gave it a bit of a Review, same with the Napalm Raid gig, and both of them will be up by the end of this week, I hope. The Pictures of Napalm Raid, Humilitate, and Life's Torment were all posted, and you can click here, or here, or even here to see them all, or you can click on the images to the right of these words to check them all out as well. Same with the Demon Lung photos from this past Saturday night @ the Bunkhouse. For me, the highlight of the evening was hanging out with George, my former heterosexual lover / band mate / partner in crime. Now THAT, was fun! <3 Real busy this week. It's almost 9 in the morning and I got band practice in a few hours, so I better get some shut eye. Looking forward to getting shit done and moving on and putting stuff behind me where it belongs. Some of you out there know what I'm talking about, and the rest of you probably wish you did. All you gotta do is ask. ;-)
