Wow, what a weekend. 3 people I know got arrested this weekend - 2 of them for some serious charges, 1 for just being an idiot. It wasn't a good weekend for them, that's for sure. Me personally, I blame the solar eclipse or whatever that stupid thing was that everyone was all gaa gaa over for the abnormal behavior. It's always amazing to me that people feel the need to re-post over and over ad nauseam on Facebook things that are all over the media. You're not a news reporter people. Hey, let's keep people's minds off the important stuff like what's going on in Chicago at the NATO convention by bombarding them with inane stuff that's vapid and meaningless like a solar eclipse! Fucking sheeple I swear.

This gig flyer just popped up this weekend. I fucking hate the Griffin but I love Deadhand, so you can see my dilemma. I don't know who Rusty Maples are, but I'm sure I won't like them... heh heh
I made the trek out to the Silverton on Sat. to see Don Carlos, only to find out the gig had been moved to the Hard Rock and that it had started an hour earlier. Fuck. I didn't feel up to making the trek to the Hard Rock on a Sat. night so I just called it and went Home. Band practice has been killing me of late, so I need all the rest I can get. It's the calm before the storm known as Punk Rock Bowling, which has now achieved the same dooshbag gathering of Poseurs status that the Viva Rockasilly thing has. Whatever. The band that I think I'm officially now a member of, Guilty By Association, is playing 2 gigs for PRB, and it sure would be nice to see a few familiar faces at either one of them... hint hint
Robin Gibb passed away this weekend, which was sad. The dude fought the good fight. Donna Summer passed away a few days earlier. Both of those artists music was like the soundtrack to the 70's. It was everywhere. You know you're getting old when Disco stars start dying off. ;-) And, just to show you they always die in 3's, Chuck Brown preceded them all. Damn. You can even do another recent three celebrities with Carrol Shelby, the car dude, Vidal Sassoon, the hair dude, and George Lindsey, aka the Goober dude on The Andy Griffith Show. *Le sigh* And Abe Vigoda laughs at them all.

Everything is updated. I added the Surrounded By Thieves photos to the website, and you can click here to check them out. Weebly just did some kick ass improvements this weekend, so I've been redesigning and reconfiguring everything on here. You can now comment on everything individually, so I re-added all the photos in the new format, as well as a bunch of Music Reviews that I don't think were up before, stuff from bands like The Heroine, Too $hort, The Toy Dolls, Anthrax, Metallica, Die Laughing, and a few other bands I'm not remembering right now, so go to the page and check all that out. I'm up early so I'm gonna get back to updating everything to the new format. It's a Monday, a day like any other day, a day to nerd out on my website and get shit done! :-)

Fights at punk rock gigs... how cliche! LOL

I had a great time @ the Arts Factory on Sat., checking out bands and scamming out records. Glad to see that the turn out is getting better and better, because the record swap thing is just so much fun. And the Bands! Man! They were great. How sick was Internal Corrosion? Fuck yeah those guys ruled! Playing an Old School Metal sound, ala Show No Mercy era Slayer crossed with Kill 'Em All era Metallica, those guys just fucking killed it, getting the Punks and the Metal heads to stop drinking their tall boys for a second and bang their heads and thrash around in a lovely display of Unity. Internal Corrosion was excellent, and I'd love to see those guys again. Seriously. Go to their Facebook page by clicking here and check them out and Like their page, because that's what it's all about nowadays - being Liked on Facebook. Yeah, and while I'm on the subject, if you haven't already, Like the onethirtyeight.org Facebook page. All you gotta do is click on the button to the right there...

OK, now that that shameless plug thing is over, let's get back to the gig! :-) Nests - holy sweaty donkey balls! Where the fuck did these kids come from?? Those kids just fucking shredded it up true Hardcore style, playing some Gang Green / Jerry's Kids style of Punk that just had me standing there with my jaw on the floor at how fucking righteous the shit they were playing sounded. Infuckingcredible. It's too bad that the singer got sucker hit from behind by some douchebag while Vihan Rytmi's insanely noisy set. Those guys were good too! I hope it seriously wasn't their last gig, because they were pretty wicked sick. Painajainen style crusty noise not music, which I only say because it's the name of that bands classic 7". Finnish Hard Core Man - you gotta love it! ;-) Vihan Rytmi. Good stuff. It was cool when Crystal from Ecophagy Records got up on stage and screamed out a few songs. It wasn't cool when that dooshbag East Side Joe's kid sent the singer from Nests flying into the support poles for the overhead metal structure with a blindside low blow tackle from behind. That was a pretty chickenshit thing to do. Oh well. The fights that came afterwords because of it were mildly amusing. ;-) And then Die Laughing brought it all to a close with a lackadaisical set of all 4, 382 songs that they know, in celebration of their just released CD that contains everything the band has ever done. Fucking sweet to say the least. Yeah, it was a bittersweet way to send Bob and Larry on their way to a bigger and better future in L.A., but it was cool that people made the effort to come out and see them off and to celebrate the whole Die Laughing CD release thing. Very cool indeed. I left after the bands were done, stopping off at Artifice to see Deana, and I didn't even say Goodbye to Larry or Bob because I know our paths will cross again somewhere and that we'll see each other again. There is no word for 'Goodbye' in my Native language, there's only the phrase meaning 'Until we meet again', which is 'nya'aamh'. Nya'aamh Larry and Bob - nya'aamh my Friends.

Shit! I almost forgot to tell you about the February Music Reviews that were posted recently, so that's what I'm doing now! LOL I talk shit about the latest releases from Moon Women, Cerebral Ballzy, Metallica, Famous Last Words, G.P.B., the Nirvana tribute CD Newermind from Spin Magazine, Van Halen and Corrosion Of Conformity. Click here to read them. Also, I forgot to mention that The People's Whiskey @ the Bikini Bar photos were just added as well, so go to the right of these words and click on the photo of their guitar player who's name I don't know or you can just click here to check them out as well. Nothing much more to say really. Band practice has been killing me as of late, getting hyped up on recording this weekend @ Camel Hump Studios. It's gonna be fantastic! If you're in a band, click here to check out all the things they have to offer you. It's a pretty sick set up they got going there, so take advantage. Oh, and I don't think Aluminum Falcon is gonna be playing that gig @ the Cheyenne Saloon on Friday. We still haven't gotten a flyer from the Promoter and it just doesn't seem like it's worth it to play a gig that nobody knows anything about. We got better things to do with our time, like record a masterpiece! ;-)

I don't know if the Darkness have ever played Vegas before. If they did, I didn't see them. There was no way I was missing this, because it was just too perfect. A great chance to talk shit on a Friday night. ;-) The band has recently reformed with all original members, and they just released a new MP3 single / video for the song Nothing's Gonna Stop Us, which you can check out and download for free at the bands website www.theactualdarkness.com. The song was better live is all I'm gonna say. :-) But yeah, I hate going to 'concerts', and I hate the House of Boooooo's with a passion, but for the Darkness, I made the effort. And it was sooooo worth it. :-) They opened up with Black Shuck, and then they all changed guitars and basses, and went into Growing On Me, and I was done. They were soooooo fucking good! They had an annoying habit of changing all their guitars and basses in between every song, and only Givin' Up / Stuck In A Rut were played back to back without a guitar  and bass change. Whatever. When you're total Rockstars like the Darkness I guess you can do that. They played everything I wanted to hear, like Street Spirit (Fade Out), the Radiohead cover, and stuff from the 2nd album One Way Ticket To Hell... And Back, like the title song and Is It Just Me, and every great song off of Permission To Land. Beautiful. Justin's voice sounded incredible live and the band sounded fantastic. A Rock N Roll Machine. The best sounding early era AC/DC band crawling around the trenches today they are, and I had a great time. Except for the crowd. I wanted to kill every Tool and Dooshbag in the audience, including the big 6' 4" gay guy sporting a Ride The Lightning era Metallica shirt that I was standing behind who I kept spitting on, because he kept blocking my view. Every time he did I spit on him, and he didn't even notice. Whatever. The capper to all that is when he french kissed his little bearded boyfriend when the band played I Believe In A Thing Called Love. It was their song, and they totally waited all night to hear it. You could totally tell. They took Facebook arm extended pictures of themselves too. I was touched, and immediately headed for the exit... LOL I'm just kidding, but still, it was pretty ghey. I'm glad the Darkness have that appeal. We all need some Pomp, Bombast, and Theatrics in our Music, and the Darkness do all that and more for me. Yup. To commemorate the event I bought a tour shirt with a giant prawn on the front. Why a prawn? I have no idea. It looked cool, is all I can say... heh heh heh

I heard nothing but great things about all the gigs this past weekend - the Pixies tribute show, and the T.S.O.L. / Guilty By Association / Civilians gig. Civilians - you guys made a bunch of new fans - Congratulations! Fuck, it's such a cool time here in the Las Vegas Music Scene right now. Watching your Friends play gigs is fun, playing gigs is better, and playing gigs with your Friends is always the Best. Everything's updated. I gotta get back to the front room. :-)

If I have to hear one more dooshbag football announcer say how "The Bills are for Real", or that "It's time to Bill-ieve", I think I'm gonna puke. Buffalo got majorly lucky catching Tom Brady on what was possibly the worst game of his career. Fucking Bastards. Fuck you Canadian Bills. And again, Fuck You Danny!! Enjoy it while it lasts motherfucker!!! hahahahahahahahahahahaha

The Raiders looked good yesterday in beating the Jets. Sanchez had no time to be eating no hot dogs on the sideline this game... heh heh heh. People are calling it an upset. I never had doubt, but that's just me. I think the Raiders can beat anyone on any day, New England, our next opponent included. They're gonna be scary good once they get their starting receivers back. McFadden - leading rusher in the NFL - Yup! :-) And if this doesn't illustrate how out of control the Refs are in the NFL right now I don't know what does. Click here to watch the video. Where was the hold? Seriously?

Criminal Trespassing? Vandalism? Really? Wowsers. You have GOT to be kidding me!!! I'm still waiting for some verification / proof, but if it's true, I'll be ecstatic to have been right about that idiot and his shitty ass Metal club.

The last night of Deadhand's month long residency @ the Hypnotic Lounge came to an intimate end this past Saturday, in front of a group of Friends and Fans which ran the gamut from under age, over age, and middle age. I'll leave it to you to guess which one I was! ;-) hahahaha Deadhand played an amazing set, as always, but it was a bit awkward to see Brendan struggle with playing The Cowboy Song by Thin Lizzy, a song he's obviously bored to tears playing. Yuck. Playing covers sucks - trust me I know! hahaha Aluminum Falcon played some Descendents covers, which, of course, sucked, because we hadn't practiced them in a little while, but I think they came out OK. Bikeage and I'm The One I think. We played them for the Punk Rock kids that I saw at the last Deadhand gig @ Yayo Taco. They had come out to support, and they were jumping around and slam dancing while we played. Rad. Holding On To Sound sounded great from the outside of the Hypnotic Lounge, where I think there was more people outside just chatting and chilling than there were inside checking out the band playing. Booooooooooooooooooooooo. Oh well. There was Skittles outside. :-)  It was still a fun as fuck night, with the gig ending early Da Falcon flew around the Naked City after dropping off the band equipment in search of Food, Music, Drugs, Drink, Debauchery and Guys with eye patches. We were successful on all counts. ;-)

Friday night I was hanging outside of the Bikini Bar, enjoying a nice Chicago style Polish sandwich combo that I had scored from the Sausage Fest food truck, fighting off the urge to go to that Pussycat's strip club and get into trouble when my partner in crime George strolled up. After he made fun of me for eating and not drinking we ventured inside for beers and Babilos, a band that I've always promoted but never seen before, and now that I have, I gotta say they were pretty good. Old school Big 4 Metal ala early Metallica and Slayer played by a scary looking group of hombres who were either Mexican, or Indian, or Filipino or a combination thereof, just pulverizing the crowd with their brooootaaal ass Metal music. They brought out a lot of people, a lot of really good looking people, like, chicks in club attire and the Jersey Shore types they attract, who all immediately left after Babilos was done blowing the roof off the joint. Sad to see but whatever. Poor Tinglerz played right after them to a virtually empty room, which always sucks. It didn't deter them from playing a great set though, but it just would of been nice if there would of been a few more people there to see it. Six Shooters To The Sky fared a little better in the opening slot, they had a few Friends there checking them out, and after watching them play I was a bit peeved that they broke up in the first place. They are sooooooooooo fucking good!! I don't remember them being that good, but then again, I can't remember the last time I saw them before Friday. University Theater? Slanted Clam? I dunno, but it's been too long. I hope they keep it together and do something with this. I was talking to them all before they played, and I asked them why they broke up, and they all gave different answers but all typical band shit - Sex, Drugs, Money, Drama. When I asked them why they got back together they couldn't give me an answer. But it was Liz, the bass playing Goddess, who after their set came up to me and said You know why we got back together? Honestly? It was because we were bored. That sentiment is the reason a lot of the great bands did it, and Six Shooters To The Sky may become one of the great Vegas bands, that is, if they don't kill each other first. Great little gig @ the Bikini Bar last Friday. That place needs some drink specials though...

OK. I've on babbled long enough. Everything's updated, new Pictures of Unfair Fight, Tinglerz and Deadhand from their gig @ Hypnotic Lounge a while back are up, and I'm just getting around to doing those Motor City Cafe photos, which started off with the Seriouslys. Those chicks are kick ass and you should check them out whenever you get the chance. Lots of stuff coming up this weekend, so check out the Gig Calendar page and plan accordingly. I think I'm gonna go grab a pastrami sandwich. :-)

I have a big announcement at the end of this, something I've been sitting on for about a week now, sworn to secrecy while the details were being worked out. I was told I could announce it on Tuesday, and so I will, right after I spew on about this first.

First off, Happy Birthday to the One, the Only, the Sorely Missed on the Tag Board ever since he became sane, the Impeccably Dressed Hollywood Shane, who is now known as New York Shane nowadays, unfortunately. :-( I believe he turns 27 or some shit like that, well, that's what he tells the Trannies down at Washington Square in Greenwich Village anyways.

Shane is a Fag!!
Shane, he's talking to Y-O-U...
I'm not gonna bore you with Tales of all the times Shane stole my Booze or my Drugs, sometimes doing both on the same night! No, All I'm going to do is wish a very Happy Birthday to a very near and dear friend of mine, that I'm glad is still around for me to tell him things like this:
Picture
I think the creepy grin says it all... ;-)
Hee hee hee Happy Birthday Bro! I love you, and I miss you! Try not to get too, too crazy on your Birthday - oh shit, look who I'm telling that too! hahahahahaha XOXOXOXO

So yeah, how was everyone's V.D. day? Mines was spectacular! The huge bundle of loot I spent on the holiday was well worth everything I got in return, which is always a good thing. I didn't make it to the Off! gig @ the palms, but I'm not really bummed about it because I don't even like that band, but I wanted to go because I thought it would be an event or some shit like that. I haven't been going to any gigs this year, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. The ones I do plan on going to, like last Thursdays debut gig of The Unidentified @ the LVCS, or the Apocalyptics and the State Streets gig @ Meatheads on Saturday, usually end up with me in my broken down car at the side of the road, waiting for a mechanic or a tow truck to come save my ass. LOL Or something else more interesting comes up, or I decide to get drunk somewhere. I think I'm slipping a bit. I don't care as much as I used to. Maturity? Naaaahh. I know there's a shit load of new bands coming around, and I wanna Interview them and take Pictures of them before they get too big or start hanging out with the wrong people, but I don't really wanna do that because I want to, it's more just for the website. I dunno. I'll figure it out. There's too many good gigs coming up that I wanna check out, like the 12 Volt Sex reunion gig happening this Sat. @ the Beauty Bar. I have always been a sucker for a good hook, and 12 Volt Sex songs had them by the bucketful!!! I still listen to their stuff - most of it still holds up. Yeah, that gig is going to be fun. Hope to see a bunch of old Las Vegas heads turn out for that one.

Who watches the Grammy's nowadays? Didn't they lose credibility like, when Jethro Tull beat out Metallica in Best Heavy Metal Band category? LOL I was a bit taken back by the many people I know, who's musical taste and knowledge I revere and respect, being concerned with it's outcome or participants in any way, shape or form. Who the Hell are Arcade Fire and who cares? Gee, the Best New Artist has been releasing albums for 6 years now - who gives a shit? I'm glad I don't keep up on current things in music. I don't even hear shit like Cee-Lo, Keisha or Rihanna unless I'm in a strip club. Heard Lady Gaga there for the first time too. That craptacular music should stay in strip clubs, where it's the perfect fodder for some ho-bag to rub her vajeen on your crotch, infecting you and making you a Carrier for whatever neglected disease that particular 'Entertainer' is inflamed with this week. Strip clubs - you gotta love 'em! You know I do.
Picture
Quite possibly the GREATEST Zombie movie EVER!!! <3
Besides that 12 Volt Sex gig, there's a bunch of good gigs happening soon. Friday's that Joe Buck Yourself Rockasilly thing happening @ the LVCS, then on Saturday if you don't go to the 12 Volt Sex thing, you could always head off to the Double Down to see the Black Jetts and Left Unattended rock that toilet, or see the Quitters and Nothing With Numbers guys fuck shit up @ the LVCS. If none of that appeals to you, then TheCore are playing @ the Cheyenne Saloon that night as well! Too many choices, and all too far apart. Phooey. Sunday's got Less Than Jake and Off With Their Heads are at the House of Boooooooo's, and then Monday Ministry Of Love is headlining Area 702 over a bunch of bands with some of the shittiest names EVER!! And for you Old School Hessians out there, Death Angel is playing @ the Cheyenne Saloon. Death Angel... cool guys. Haven't seen them since I played a gig with them @ the Country Club in Reseda with Possessed and Sacred Reich! hahahaha The 80's... what were we thinking? LOL Fun times then, fun times now. Get off your ass and get to some gigs! There's waaaaaaay too much to do to wanna stay home.

Oh, and that big announcement thing I was talking about... Descendents are playing Las Vegas in May downtown in front of the El Cortez - GET HYPED!!!  :-)

Hahahahahahahaha So Feelgood's is now known as Vamp'd? WTF? So now I guess it's only owned by Count Cool Rider? Spoooooooky! I guess Vince Neil needed to free up some cash to take care of his loss of income during his upcoming jail stint? hee hee hee How does that jackass get away with what he does? Incredible, to say the least. Anyways, at Vamp'd there's lots of Punk and Metal gigs now lined up, which is always the sign of a club hitting hard times. I think the same thing is happening @ The Black Door, Dave Navarro's bad idea directly next to the Double Down. When those type of bands are allowed in a venue, things are not going good. :-) Anyways, Feelgood's is now Vamp'd. Who knows what The Black Door is going to end up being called. Maybe the Coke Store? ;-)

I think this is the last of the video footage from the Aluminum Falcon gig on the 16th @ the LVCS. It's for the last song we played called Battlelines. Special Thanks to N.J. Pete for filming it.
So who's going to the Big 4 concert in Indio, CA.? Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax? If you are I'd like to slap you in the face. Big Raul, I'm looking in your direction. ;-) Hahahaha I saw that same line up back in what, 1991, at Irvine Meadows. Alice In Chains opened. Wasn't that good then, I doubt it will be that good 20 years later. And speaking of 20 years later, Guns And Roses will be eligible for the Rock And Roll Crock of Shame next year. Man I feel old.

Lots and lots of shit going on this weekend, of course, like the Toasters gig @ the Bunkhouse, the almighty Motörhead @ the HOB, TheCore and I Am The Thief @ Meatheads, Three Rounds @ LVCS, and some other gigs I'm totally not remembering right now. It's all on the Gig Calendar. Look it up yourself ya lazy bastards. I'm getting ready for the Sharks / Kings game tonight, so things are a bit fuzzy green right now, but I'm taking all bets and collecting all debts from all you suckaaaaah Kings fans! Your 2 game winning streak ends tonight! hahahaha Everything is updated - old stuff just keeps getting added, and new stuff just keeps getting ignored. In other words, everything is normal around these parts. Strange, right? See you at the gigs!
