I hate that I missed this on Friday. Fucking HATE IT!! :-( Deadhand @ the Royal House playing that Nirvana tribute thing.
Yeah, I missed out on that awesomeness because I was at band practice. Another day, another band apparently. The count is now up to 5. Yeah, I think American Buckshot is back and ready to Bring The Thunder © like we used to do, which is awesome. Another set of songs to learn. I think my left hip is deteriorating at a much more rapid pace than it should be, because it has been in constant pain as of late but oh well. I'm having fun. LOL Saturday I had band practice before playing my debut gig with Pigasus @ the Bar & Bistro for Bobby Frank's Birthday get together (I never saw Mr. Franks all evening), and I think we did pretty good, based on what everyone was telling me after we were finished playing. I was nervous, broke a couple of sticks in half from bashing them too hard on the drums and I made a few mistakes and miscounts but I think I did OK overall. Besides the 'you sounded good' sentiment that was being shared by alot of the attendees, I think just as many people were tripping on me playing at a much slower pace than they're used to seeing me play! LOL Hey man - I'm versatile, I swear! There was too many fantastic people at the place for me to focus on anyone in particular (yeah right), and I Thank all of you who made the effort and came out, especially Dean, fresh from his trip somewhere overseas doing something he probably shouldn't of been doing somewhere he shouldn't of been. Good to have you back Brother. You have no idea of how good it is to see you. XOXO
Shit. While I'm thinking about it, I never shared this Madness video I shot with my trusty iPhone when they played here a few weeks ago. It's for one of my favorite songs off of their debut album, Bed And Breakfast Man.
I also forgot to bring up the fact that Sham 69 had cancelled out of their appearance at Punk Rock Bowling this year, due to Jimmy Pursey's father deteriorating health, so instead, the Cockney Rejects will be taking their place. Now I had heard that the Cockney Rejects were the 'Secret' band playing that Civilians / Youth Brigade gig, so does that mean that there will be a new secret band taking their place? Who knows? The last time I saw the Cockney Rejects was back in the 90's and they were just dog shit terrible. The time before that was sometime in the mid 80's after they went Metal and gawd, they were just fucking horrible then as well, but every time before that, they were fucking incredible, playing most of the songs from their brilliantly titled first album Greatest Hits, Vol. 1. The band is supposed to have a documentary film and a new album out this year called East End Babylon, but I don't know what's up with that. I'm sure they'll be playing few, if any, songs from that album though. I'm sure they've smartened up by now and realized that people only wanna hear the 'Hits' and they'll play just that and all the little tossers can run to the merch booth and buy the swag and post on Facebook how they just saw the Cockney Rejects and me being the old dude that I am will correct them by saying No, you did not see the real Cockney Rejects, much like seeing a Danzig / Doyle thing is not seeing the real Misfits. What you will get at Punk Rock Bowling is the Geggus' brothers latest musical project, and if it was anywhere else, like at a club, I probably would of checked it out, because I'm a HUGE Cockney Rejects fan, but it's not worth just standing around like cattle in a pen tolerating all the shitty bands just to see the ones you like, and therein lies the crux of why the whole Punk Rock Bowling thing sucks shit balls. Oh well. Everything is updated. I added a bunch of simply fucking AMAZING gigs to the Gig Calendar page, including the almighty Freddie McGregor's return to Las Vegas, as well as a return visit from Don Carlos himself. Oh, I am sooooooooo at both of those gigs. You have no idea. There's some other good one's coming up too, but I forget what they are. I'm just spazzing out on Freddie McGregor and Don Carlos. Wow. <3 I posted those Pictures of The Lost playing at the Double Clown Saloon up last week, so click here to check them out if you're so inclined. I'm gonna go play some Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 and work on winning a Tournament. :-)
Big hugs and kisses to everyone who came out to Amber Watson's memorial get together @ the Bunkhouse last night. More than enough money was raised to cover all the expenses, which just goes to show you how beloved that girl was to people here in town. The place was packed, the mood a bit somber. The band Stereo High did an excellent job playing for everyone, and they sounded pretty good while doing it. I'd check them out again if the circumstances were different. It was good seeing sooooo many people I haven't seen in ages there, but it sucked that we were gathered together for all the wrong reasons. It was what it was, and I was there, and that's pretty much it. It was a great show of Love for someone who was taken away from us at a much, much too early age, and I can only hope that the rumors aren't true. Death. Phooey. The night ended up with a group of us heading off to the Artifice, and since we were in the neighborhood, a private after-hours tour of Cowtown Guitars... LOL Jesse & Roxie's new place is fucking magnificent, and conveniently located next to a gay porno shop full of glory holes and desperate men. I mean, that's what I heard anyways. I would never frequent such an establishment. ;-) ha ha ha Congrats to Cowtown Guitars for their new posh digs. The new place is incredible. I can't see anything but a bright and rosy future ahead of them. <3 And I was pretty drunk last night, but I think I joined Pigasus... LOL Anyways, everything's updated. Aluminum Falcon is playing a gig @ the Motor City Cafe tonight with our good friends Surrounded By Thieves and my 2nd favorite Local band The People's Whiskey, so if you're not going to see The Black Jetts / Deadhand / Tinglerz gig @ Favorites, stop on by and hang out and have a few drinks and socialize. We're going on 2nd, so get there appropriately. It should be a fun time. It usually always is. ;-) See ya there.
I heard it was cancelled because of the rain, and now I hear that it's still happening, so here it is - better late than never. Click on the link to see what all the fuss is all about! Occupy Las VegasApparently, the Vegas version of this little farcical play is cooperating with all Local Authority figures and those in Power to ensure that no one gets hurt or arrested, which should be the Goal of any well organized protest, right? Oh, and I think it's Kid friendly as well, so bring the young-ins out to see what the big deal is all about. It's their Future you're trying to save and if you're lucky, you'll even be on TV, which is the real goal this Occupy Las Vegas thing seems to be about but whatever. I'll be there, and so should you.Protest and Punk Rock - Occupy Las Vegas and the Misfits - it's gonna be a good night to be on the Strip. Too bad there's no real Punk Rock or Protest to speak of, but hey, it's all baby steps in the right direction, right? Right! heh heh heh
Did I ever post this?? I don't think so, but if I did, Sorry. It's a video I took of the Naked City Romeo's performing Rock 'N Roll's For Kids, off of their fantastic debut CD release. I recorded it @ Artifice a while ago. If you missed the Music Review I did on it, you can click here to check it out for yourself. It's at the bottom of the page. This video is a little dark, so too bad if you can't see everything too clear. It's Punk Rock. It's supposed to be a bit dark. I watch this video all the time when I need a good laugh. The singer Bobbie is just the funniest guy to watch perform. This is Pentagram playing some song that I'm never going to know the Title of at the Cheyenne Saloon a while back. This was the gig that the infamous stickering 'Vandalism' incident went down at. No, I haven't heard anything back about that in case you were wondering. I do know what some of you are up to though... heh heh
Yeah, I'm just cleaning up and clearing out a bunch of shit that either slipped through the cracks or I just plain forgot about. Did you see all the Pictures I posted of that Deadhand / Razorhoof / Smooth Sailing / G.P.B. gig @ Yayo Taco a while back? Well, if you didn't, you can click here or click on the photos to the right of these words here. Either or, I don't care. And check out the pix I took of Six Shooters To The Sky @ the Bikini Bar. They came out pretty sweet. My Family is in town, so I'm doing that whole Touristy thing with them, and because of that I'll be at that stupid Misfits gig @ the Hard Rock Cafe on Thursday... Boooooooooo. And yeah, I know - I'm a Hypocrite, but in my Defense, at least I admit it! LOL See ya there! There's all sorts of stuff happening this weekend, so check out the Gig Calendar page to see what's what. Me? I'm gonna be in 80's Heaven on Saturday - Blondie and then O.M.D.!!! Like, ohmygawd!! Ya know? Totally!! hahaha
Fucking Hell... what a weekend. Sitting in my office in a daze after waking up at the crack of 6 pm on Sunday sure can put things in perspective sometimes. The gig on Thursday with Knock Out, Battle Born and The Waking Light was pretty sweet, and Knock Out was a Hell of a lot better than the last time I saw them @ the Icehouse, that's for sure. They kept their shitty ska versions of Misfits songs towards the end of their set, and everything leading up to that was pretty damn good, even the Descendents cover of Bikeage that they dedicated to Mike. Battle Born just killed it and sounded phenomenal through the pro P.A. inside of the Cheyenne. I missed the majority of their set because I was outside doing a photo shoot for some random girl from L.A. who said she was gonna make me a Star. :-0 hahahaha Aluminum Falcon played their, what, 3rd gig I think, and the momentum seems to be building, one group of fans at a time. Lots of good words and positive vibes after we were done playing. The bass player from Knock Out rubbed my tummy and told me I was a great drummer... lol. Somebody took video of the night, and Senor Tyson was nice enough to post that shit on YouTube, of course.
My goal during this next song is to break cymbals. The collection on my garage wall can attest to the fact that it happens all the time, but not this night unfortunately. :-(
Yeah, it was a good night until I got home and heard that my friend Michelle Flipside had passed away. She was only 45, much too young and pretty to go. She was a cancer survivor as well, which just makes the event even more of a tragedy than it already is. I seriously think I met her at a Vermin gig @ Favorites back in 1994. I used to see her column pop up in Flipside every now and then and be like, 'Who is this chick writing up the Local gigs? I wanna meet her.' She hyped up the Vermin gig in her column, saying she'd be there, and I went there specifically to meet her, and once I did, I was smitten. She was Smart and Witty and Cute as all gets, and she loved to have fun - how could you not adore that? After that we spent time together and afterwords we were constantly running into each other at the Wet Stop or the Double Down or wherever the cool gigs in town were happening, hanging out, shooting pool or shooting the shit, always drinking, always having fun. For some reason that slips my mind she moved away and we lost touch, like you do. Thankfully, through the magic of Facebook, we re-connected and would spend the occasional hours talking about things at all odd hours of the night and morning, where she would share with me her Thoughts and Plans and Memories, always full of Life, always sounding just the same as she always was, even though she'd been through a lot since we last chatted. Just a huge fucking tragedy that she's gone, and I take little comfort in the fact that she's not suffering anymore. Death fucking sucks. I hate it. My condolences to her Husband Richard and all of her Family at this terrible time. I'm going to miss the Hell out of you Chelle. Godspeed to you. Easy be the Journey. I love you.
Everything is updated. All the Pictures from the Guilty By Association 10th Anniversary gig @ Yayo Taco are up on the website. I'm not feeling too well right now. I think I'm gonna go puke. Later.
OK, so I've just crashed the Ghost Train into Mexico, using the stolen Spanish Soldiers uniform that I got after I killed those wetters for talking shit to me up North. I can't decode the 4th Treasure Map for the life of me, and running into old friends like Seth, Nigel Dickens, Bonnie McFarlane (even though I blew her Dad's brains out in the barn) and Sheriff Marshall is just like the icing on the cake I can't stop eating. I love killing Chupacabras and I've vowed to never kill another Sasquatch as long as I live. I found the Brokeback Mountain guys, and I loved killing that Nazi store keep for shits and giggles. You probably don't have any idea of what I'm talking about, and if you do, isn't it great? LOL Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare has been consuming my Life as of late, and I'm not minding that fact one bit. I don't go to Gigs, work on the Website, or even venture out of the house for replenishment anymore - everybody delivers nowadays, including Albertsons! ;-) Ahhhhhhhh... this is why I don't play video games more than I do. They take over my Life and make everything else seem inconsequential. Fun as Hell though.I do get out on Sundays to watch the Raiders at Casa de Amoroso though, and with our new Good Luck charm Tony, things have been most festive as of late. Roxie is the best host a group of Neanderthal football fans could ever hope to have, and with our 3 game winning streak going into the bye week, I'm feeling most optimistic that we'll give Pittsburgh a good run for their money next game. And what about what happened to Wade Phillips? hahahahaahahahaha Jerry Jones is a douchebag! The only way the Cowboys are going to the Super Bowl this year is if they buy a ticket! LOL And the Sharks are pissing me off. We do great against the good teams, and we suck ass when we play the not-so-good teams. Niemi Sucks, the Joe Thornton suspension was total bullshit, but you know what - at least we're not the Ducks, the Kingss, or the Sabres!! hahaha Oh SNAPS!
California, we're coming for you... Hide your sheep!! The clowns are John Wayne Gacy originals! It made me both Angry and Amused that the Misfits show had such a great turnout. Angry that there are that many stupid people who went to that bullshit, and Amused that there are that many stupid people who went to that bullshit. All of you who have told me about the gig, either positive or negative, I secretly smirk at you for being a sucker and going to that shit - "You ever get the feeling you've been cheated?" heh heh heh I'm not gonna pontificate upon which line up is more of a real Misfits reunion - Doyle and Danzig and some Sunset Strip doods, or Jerry Only and some Black Flag alumni, because, as Jess Stewart said, "It's not 1995 anymore - don't we have better things to complain about?" LOLTime for the Sharks / Ducks game. After that, more zombie killing. Outbreak and everyone's favorite band Murder Majesty is playing @ the Box Office on Thurs., and the Bronx is playing @ the Beauty Bar that night as well. Friday has Bad Taste (new band in town - check out their Myspace page by clicking here) playing @ the Sanctuary, and Dead Neon is playing @ LVCS that night as well. Saturday it's all about Turbonegra, Pigasus (who are actually rehearsing now!!) and the Tinglerz @ the LVCS, but Die Laughing is playing their "last" gig at some place called Hillary downtown that afternoon, and the 7 Outs are at the Double Down that night too! Busy ass weekend of stuff going on. Dress warmly and get your ass out to the gigs! Me, I'll be sitting at home killing zombies; content. ;-) Everything is updated - new stuff added to the Pictures page, as well as the Live Stuff page, including the 2 songs I got of Nails playing @ Yayo Taco, so browse around and waste some time and check shit out. What else are ya gonna do - play Farmville? hahahaha
Hey! Through the magic of the Internet I just found out that the Apocalyptics are playing @ the Double Down tonight with the Shakes and Season Of The Nightmare. Go out and support a great band that deserves it, in a place that I wouldn't be caught dead in... heh heh
I just added a shitload of upcoming gigs to the Gig Calendar page, stuff like, oh, I dunno, Youth Brigade, Zeke, Dead Kennedys, Misfits, Voodoo Glow Skulls (now moved to the Beauty Bar... UGH!), Fu Manchu, the Adicks, CH3, the Pixies, Agent Orange, Angry Samoans, D.I., that American Carnage Tour with Slayer / Anthrax / Megadeth (siiiiiiiiiick) and lots and lots of Local gigs too. Check it out and plan accordingly. Interesting things are a brewing, that's for sure. ;-)
