The less said about these past few days the better, OK? Apparently I'm just no good for girls on vacation looking to have fun. Apparently I'm just not a fun person to be around... LOL
I came on here to say something, something that someone asked me to mention on here, but damned if I know what it was now. Marijuana truly does affect the memory. ;-) Wait - oh yeah, Nick from Battle Born wanted me to remind you about the gig they're playing @ the Bunkhouse this Fri. I ran into him earlier at Wal-Mart fretting over his razor purchasing dilemma. They're playing with Local good guys Surrounded by Thieves and Eken Is Dead, who may be good, and who may be guys, I'm not sure. Anyways, after you're through with your First Friday shenanigans, stop on by. It's gonna be fun. :-)
I just scanned over some of the latest postings, and I don't think I said anything about stuff like that Deadhand gig @ the Bikini Bar last Thurs., which was great by the way. Deadhand are playing some fucking AMAZING sounding new songs that just make me chub up every time I hear them. I'm going to their gigs just to hear the new songs, and pretty much neglecting their back catalog of impressive music. Signals Midwest were pretty cool, playing a strong set of tunes that was like riding on a rickety old fishing boat in the middle of a powerfully destructive storm on the open seas. They roll and lurch and swell and turn and start and stop and come dangerously close to sinking at times, but they just never did. I thought they were excellent and their drummer was beast. I bought lots of merch but no shirt, because they didn't have any black shirts. What kind of band doesn't have black shirts? Jeesh! LOL And I found out that No Red Alice is just Sal from TheCore doing his Beardcore stuff. I watched him playing his songs while I was talking to Danielle the Promoter about upcoming stuff she has going on. She said I come across as an asshole on the website but that I'm a really sweet guy. Oh... she couldn't be more wrong about that if she tried... hahaha It was a cool little gig. I had fun. I drank S'more's shots that would of been much better if they had graham crackers to go with it. I think the less said about the American Buckshot performance @ the Double Clown on Fri. the better, OK? hahaha People said we were really good, but they were obviously high on bath salts or something.Saturday was that lame ass Positive Force thing, with all the old Punk Rock paraphernalia on display, but how positive could it be if it's held at Favorites? LOL The stabbing at the Tenacious D show is all over the news, and I think a Show Review for the NOFX thing is forthcoming, but I'm not sure. Sunday I was at that Sports Pub Reunion thing, where I sat at a table in the back and watched people I know and love make absolute embarrassing asses of themselves. Cocaine is a Hell of a drug, ya know? ;-) The guys from the Crystal Method were on the wheels of steel, so the music was pretty chill. Pure 80's Alternative crap. I met some very interesting people though, so the night wasn't a total waste... Shit. I gotta get ready for Ashley & Brendan's little wedding reception thingy. Uhhmmm... check out the latest Show Review from Karl Bakla on the Pinkerton Thugs gig @ Favorite's last week by clicking here. Since Dean and Karl and Bob are all cranking out Show Reviews as of late, I figured I better do one too, and mine's was for the Fat Dukes Of Fuck / Civilians / Lotus gig @ the Motor City Cafe that happened the same day as the Pinkerton Thugs gig, and you can click here to check that out. Karl and I were in different places in the City at the same time equally drunk. :-) Oh, and I also posted the Pictures that my nephew Tony took at that Yayo Taco gig a few weeks back, so click here to check out his photos of Nothing With Numbers, and then click here to see his amazing photos of TheCore in action. That Kid has got the Eye, that's for sure, and watching him running around with my camera working the room was priceless. <3 Everything is updated. Gotta run. Enjoy this Video of Deadhand playing @ the Bikini Bar. It's a bit ruff but watchable.
Last night was soooooooo much fun!! Yayo Taco was the shizz last night, with lots of good Friends and Family in attendance because, well let's face it - what else are ya supposed to do on a Thurs. night? Sit on Facebook and complain how you're bored and broke and wish you had something to do? LOL Well, to all you people who were doing that, the gig last night was FREE and all the bands were really good - even Nothing With Numbers! LOL Yeah, I've never been a fan of that band, but last night they were exceptionally good, making me get off my ass and check them out while they played. Pretty cool sounding stuff. I'm definitely gonna have to check them out again sometime soon. I take back any bad things I may or may not have said about them! hahaha Random Orbits were pretty good too, reminding me of bands like Glassjaw or Sunny Day Real Estate, but in a more rocking way... heh. I thought I had seen them play somewhere else before but I was wrong. Oh well. They were still proper and I bought some merch from them to help them out. Apparently when their Tour first began, the band was robbed of all their musical equipment and have been doing the gigs on borrowed equipment. Very fucking commendable. Random Orbits, check them out. They're pretty good. And, of course, fucking Deadhand and TheCore both just laid waste to the place with a couple of fantastic sets that were mixtures of classic material and new songs that I have never heard before. I think both bands have some new releases forthcoming, and based on what I heard both bands play, those releases are gonna be quake inducing, shaking the Earth kind of Music. Personally I can't wait to hear it. :-) In the Better Late Than Never Dept. is a Show Review that good ol' Skateboard Bob did for that Fat Dukes Of Fuck / Tinglerz / Seriouslys / Civilians gig that happened at the Double Clown last week, and you can click here to read it if you are so inclined. It's infantile, crass, poorly worded and socially irrelevant, which means it's a perfect fit to this web 'zine. LOL He took some photos as well, so look for those to be posted up here real soon. And speaking of photos, I got around to posting those Pictures I took of Spotted Dick And The Love Stew and the $wingin' Utter$ at the Bunkhouse from last month. Click here for some Spotted Dick, and click here for some $wingin' Utter$. That night was very, very interesting... heh heh Everything is updated. Go see The People's Whiskey @ Favorites tonight. :-)
I have a big announcement at the end of this, something I've been sitting on for about a week now, sworn to secrecy while the details were being worked out. I was told I could announce it on Tuesday, and so I will, right after I spew on about this first.
First off, Happy Birthday to the One, the Only, the Sorely Missed on the Tag Board ever since he became sane, the Impeccably Dressed Hollywood Shane, who is now known as New York Shane nowadays, unfortunately. :-( I believe he turns 27 or some shit like that, well, that's what he tells the Trannies down at Washington Square in Greenwich Village anyways.
Shane, he's talking to Y-O-U... I'm not gonna bore you with Tales of all the times Shane stole my Booze or my Drugs, sometimes doing both on the same night! No, All I'm going to do is wish a very Happy Birthday to a very near and dear friend of mine, that I'm glad is still around for me to tell him things like this:
I think the creepy grin says it all... ;-) Hee hee hee Happy Birthday Bro! I love you, and I miss you! Try not to get too, too crazy on your Birthday - oh shit, look who I'm telling that too! hahahahahaha XOXOXOXO
So yeah, how was everyone's V.D. day? Mines was spectacular! The huge bundle of loot I spent on the holiday was well worth everything I got in return, which is always a good thing. I didn't make it to the Off! gig @ the palms, but I'm not really bummed about it because I don't even like that band, but I wanted to go because I thought it would be an event or some shit like that. I haven't been going to any gigs this year, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. The ones I do plan on going to, like last Thursdays debut gig of The Unidentified @ the LVCS, or the Apocalyptics and the State Streets gig @ Meatheads on Saturday, usually end up with me in my broken down car at the side of the road, waiting for a mechanic or a tow truck to come save my ass. LOL Or something else more interesting comes up, or I decide to get drunk somewhere. I think I'm slipping a bit. I don't care as much as I used to. Maturity? Naaaahh. I know there's a shit load of new bands coming around, and I wanna Interview them and take Pictures of them before they get too big or start hanging out with the wrong people, but I don't really wanna do that because I want to, it's more just for the website. I dunno. I'll figure it out. There's too many good gigs coming up that I wanna check out, like the 12 Volt Sex reunion gig happening this Sat. @ the Beauty Bar. I have always been a sucker for a good hook, and 12 Volt Sex songs had them by the bucketful!!! I still listen to their stuff - most of it still holds up. Yeah, that gig is going to be fun. Hope to see a bunch of old Las Vegas heads turn out for that one.
Who watches the Grammy's nowadays? Didn't they lose credibility like, when Jethro Tull beat out Metallica in Best Heavy Metal Band category? LOL I was a bit taken back by the many people I know, who's musical taste and knowledge I revere and respect, being concerned with it's outcome or participants in any way, shape or form. Who the Hell are Arcade Fire and who cares? Gee, the Best New Artist has been releasing albums for 6 years now - who gives a shit? I'm glad I don't keep up on current things in music. I don't even hear shit like Cee-Lo, Keisha or Rihanna unless I'm in a strip club. Heard Lady Gaga there for the first time too. That craptacular music should stay in strip clubs, where it's the perfect fodder for some ho-bag to rub her vajeen on your crotch, infecting you and making you a Carrier for whatever neglected disease that particular 'Entertainer' is inflamed with this week. Strip clubs - you gotta love 'em! You know I do.
Quite possibly the GREATEST Zombie movie EVER!!! <3 Besides that 12 Volt Sex gig, there's a bunch of good gigs happening soon. Friday's that Joe Buck Yourself Rockasilly thing happening @ the LVCS, then on Saturday if you don't go to the 12 Volt Sex thing, you could always head off to the Double Down to see the Black Jetts and Left Unattended rock that toilet, or see the Quitters and Nothing With Numbers guys fuck shit up @ the LVCS. If none of that appeals to you, then TheCore are playing @ the Cheyenne Saloon that night as well! Too many choices, and all too far apart. Phooey. Sunday's got Less Than Jake and Off With Their Heads are at the House of Boooooooo's, and then Monday Ministry Of Love is headlining Area 702 over a bunch of bands with some of the shittiest names EVER!! And for you Old School Hessians out there, Death Angel is playing @ the Cheyenne Saloon. Death Angel... cool guys. Haven't seen them since I played a gig with them @ the Country Club in Reseda with Possessed and Sacred Reich! hahahaha The 80's... what were we thinking? LOL Fun times then, fun times now. Get off your ass and get to some gigs! There's waaaaaaay too much to do to wanna stay home.
Oh, and that big announcement thing I was talking about... Descendents are playing Las Vegas in May downtown in front of the El Cortez - GET HYPED!!! :-)
It's that time of year, where Bands and Musicians come together to do what they can in order to help those less fortunate than themselves, which, when you think about it, is saying a lot, because most people in Bands are pretty close to being in the poorhouse themselves! You got shows like this one happening tonight @ the LVCS to help poor children in Africa have well water.
And then tomorrow night's the Local 107.9 Holiday Toy Drive @ the Bunkhouse with the Mapes, Unfair Fight and the Remedies. Nothing With Numbers is no longer playing the gig, due to someone in the band being sick. 107.9 is a radio station, right? Who the Hell still listens to terrestrial radio anymore? Satellite radio rules the wasteland! LOL
And then on Saturday, it's a Holiday Benefit Show for buying some kids in need some much deserved toys for Christmas. The Dirty Panties, the Quitters, Betting On Tomorrow and the Vegascendents will be playing. Bring lots of cash to buy raffle tickets for a chance to win some of the cool swag being given away. Vegascendents play first.
It's not a Holiday gig in any way, shape or form, but Lydia Vance is playing the Brass Lounge with The Thought Of and Asterionella. I Am The Thief was supposed to play but, in keeping with their recent ways of getting on the bill and then canceling weeks later, they're not gonna make it to the gig. Booooooooooooo.
And all of this adds up to a very busy weekend indeed, with those who need help this time of year getting a little something something to get them through the Holidays. Pretty cool, right? If you're in a band and wanna help out the next upcoming Holiday benefit gig, which is for Shade Tree Shelter, please contact Roddy Belford @ roddy_belford@yahoo.com to get involved with that. Tonight's the Sharks @ Buffalo game, with the festivities going down @ the Hotel Amoroso, which is slowly becoming the most happening place in town to see and be seen at. ;-) I'm glad the clientele is as exclusive as it is there. I can only imagine what would happen if anyone and everyone started showing up there. Come on by and watch as the King lauds proudly and loudly over the Prince while his beloved Sharks attack and destroy the Princes lowly Sabres on their home ice. This victory will be oh, so sweet!
