Gosh! So much going on I've been sorely slacking on website shit. Did you see this yet? The Cool In Vegas website with the video about the Local Las Vegas Music Scene, featuring Roxie, Bob Mandoki, some dude from that Vegas Cocks! magazine, and with music by the Scoundrels, Drainage X and the Peccadilloes playing in the background? Click here if you haven't seen it yet. Overall it's pretty good, but to hear one of the Interviewee's spew on about how the Beauty Bar is a great, intimate place for bands to play is a joke. Obviously he doesn't listen to the bands while they're playing there, because if he did, he would notice they sound like wet dog shit in a paper cup. Oh well. Still a cool video. Check it out.The amazing photos that Jesse "The Super Photographer/Roadie" Nabers took of the Loud Pipes glorious return to the Double Down can be viewed by clicking here. And if you haven't read the little blurb the Weekly said about the night, just click here. I like that the girl reporter for that shitty mag interviewed us for like 20 minutes and only 2 lines of anything we said was put in the paper, and even those were taken out of context, misquoted; not being what we said at all... hee hee hee Oh Journalists, you are a funny, funny lot. :-) Depending on whom you ask about it, the Dead Kennedys show @ the Hard Rock Cafe was either an epic event of humongous proportions, or a sad public display of a dead horse flogging. :-) And to think, I got chastised for commenting on how sad it was that the Jerry Only Experience drew hundreds of more people than the East Bay Ray Experience did! LOL And yeah, after the gig, East Bay Ray was hanging out at the Double Down, where I'm willing to venture that more people saw him there than at the Hard Rock Cafe - Ohh SNAPS!! hahahaha Just kidding of course. As long as you had fun at the gig, that's all that matters. How great was that Raiders / Chargers game yesterday, huh? hahahaha I will spare you all the details of how I had to convince a few die hard Raiders fans that we indeed had a chance to beat the Chargers, and after being proven right by the 1st quarters end, the feeling of satisfaction that I'm still walking around with can't be beat. :-) I'm not saying we're playoff bound, but man, with our 4-0 division record, anything is possible, and stranger things have happened - GO RAIDERS!! Tonight I'm staying home and watching the Sharks / Red Wings game. I'm hoping for revenge for our 5-3 loss to them earlier. I'm gonna be trying to catch up on website stuff, so keep your eyes peeled for new things popping up on here. Hopefully.
So as I'm just waking up Saturday night and sitting at my desk, trying to figure out what I'm gonna do about my car being broke, I hear a shitload of sirens pulling up to what sounds like it's right in front of my house. Since there's a really nice lady who lives right across the street from me, I hurriedly walk outside to encounter this: The house across the street from me was on fire.
Yeah, pretty crazy right. While I'm standing there snapping pictures, I see some Po-Po's pulling in, and that's never a good thing at the scene of a fire. That means they found something in there that they shouldn't of, something criminal, and when I saw the false wall in the garage I was thinking meth lab, but instead, it was just a weed growing room.
A grow house, right across the street from me! If that don't beat all! LOL It was on the Channel 3 11 o'clock news later on that night, where they reported it as an electrical fire, which led to the discovery of a grow room. They also said they had a good idea who lived there which was good, because I sure didn't! ;-)
After they took a shitload of pictures (and told me I couldn't take pictures, for some strange reason), the Police called in some crime scene clean up crew to take all the stuff out, ripping like 25 or so plants out of this house, took all the grow room equipment apart and broke it and piled it up on the sidewalk, weighed the weed in cardboard boxes, took all the broken grow room equipment away, boarded up the house and left. Another win on the War on Drugs I guess. The guy who owned the house came back at like 3 in the morning, looked at what happened and left. I can't imagine what was going through his head when he saw all this, but all I can say is, I hope he's got a good Lawyer! hahahaha And this is how I spent my Saturday evening, instead of going to Youth Brigade, instead of going to Raw Power, and instead of going to San-D and J-Sin of the Peccadilloes wedding. FML and curse my car for having a defective fuel pump. Again.
Finally. The last of the Drunken Debauchery stuff is up, including the photos of the Clusterfux, A Pretty Mess and Riot This. All the Links can be found to the right of these here words. The 3rd, and last, installment of the Infestshit Tour Pictures are up as well. Community Of Friends is a D.I.Y. Punk Record store that has recently opened, and you should all support it or fuck off. Click here to go to the Myspace page and learn all about it. This record store already has Hank's creepy stamp of approval, so it must be the shiz-nit. The art performance warehouse that Keil from the Vulcans has opened up is called The Louvre, and it's Myspace page can be found here. The High End Mystery Emporium had a great opening night I heard, so go here to their Myspace page and keep abreast of what those guys are up to. Fucking awesome that Vegas is suddenly getting alternatives to the usual stops on the local bar / club circuit. Better to play a record store / art space / warehouse than a smelly, smoky bar. Brian Infestshit is organizing a local benefit for Spike from D.R.I. to help pay some of the guitar players recently acquired medical bills, and is looking for bands to play the show non-gratis. Hit him up here to see if you can play, or to just offer to help out in whatever way you can. Who doesn't own a D.R.I. album, right? D.I. is playing The Cheyenne on Sat. with one of my fave local bands False Cause, so go out to the gig and buy Ben lots of shots of Jack. It will be a better show if you do. Las Vegas' # 1 Party Band 1/2 Ast are playing a kick ass LOCALS ONLY show on the 18th @ Take 1 with the Peccadilloes and False Cause. That show is not to be missed. F.S.P. are getting back together again and are playing on the 19th @ The N.Y. Cafe with Vermin From Venus and Lethal Injection. It's deja vu all over again. Go to these gigs and show support for YOUR scene, both old and new. Jupiter Shifter needs a drummer. The only requirement is to eat a bag of dicks from Rob Ruckus every now and then. Go to their Myspace page here if you can hang with the hardest working bass player in Las Vegas. Speaking of Jupiter Shifter, someone stole Kei's P.A. head and Brew's (ex-Dirty Babies) bass amp. Keep your eyes peeled for anyone selling stuff that matches that description. Payback is a mother fucker.
I have no idea of what's going on, and at this point I almost don't even care. Things being the way they are right now, I'm almost prone to just skip away and not look back. But that's no fun, right? hee hee hee Yeah, this weekend's shenanigans were a bit rough on me personally, but looking back on it all it was all worth it. Catharsis are some pretty nice people and it was fun hanging out with them and being silly. The Roadrunner T-Shirt that smelled like gravy? Priceless. Our show Friday with 1/2 Ast was about as much fun as I figured it was going to be, with the highlight (for me) being when Joe and Tad from the Peccadilloes went flying into my drum set, or maybe when Joe and the promoter (I think) "went outside for a talk". Just fun stuff and a great set from those guys. As usual. They had me doing the gay robot, and that's all I'm gonna say. Saturday Suite 666 got filmed for some cable access punk rock television show, and as soon as I find out more about it I'll be sure to let you all know. I'm dying to see the footage, especially the Interview afterwords... ha ha ha. Tell us not do to something and it's the first thing we'll do. Ask the promoter from Jillian's about that. So uhm, yeah, more to come, as soon as I figure out how to update my website properly. And by the way, we're playing with Vice Squad come October. Brian Infestshit sez so. ;-)
The Suite 666 Pictures taken by the girl with the golden eye Michelle are up and you can go here to check those out. Someday I hope to be as good a photographer as she is. The Peccadilloes (one of the best bands here in Las Vegas) are playing on Sat. at both Gameworks and The Double Drama, and I suggest you check them out both times if ya can. I'm currently looking for a bass player to jam with, and if you can answer yes to the following 5 questions I'd love to talk to you immediately if not sooner... 1) Must have own equipment. 2) Must have own transportation. 3) Must have no problem being in a band with girls. 4) Must be able to tour excessively. 5) Must be able to practice 2 days a week. Yeah, we lost the talented services of Senor Brew right after our last show @ the Cooler Lounge, and I'm still not sure why, but he's my bro and I love him to death. So if anyone out there can answer yes to all 5 of those requirements please drop me a line and talk to me ASAP. There's much work to be done and the sooner we begin the sooner it ends...have a great weekend and I'll see you all soon.
If someone could tell me what the hell happened at our gig with the Backdoor Breaker Inners and the Polyplush Cats @ the Cooler Lounge last Friday, would you please write in and tell me...heh heh heh. If you have no idea of what I'm talking about, but you would like to, click here to read all about it. I haven't gotten the Suite 666 photos from Michelle yet but as soon as I do I'll post them up for your visual perusal. And yes...the few Pictures I took of the Backdoor Breaker Inners are up too, and you can go here to check those out. Not a lot to say this time around and things are pretty quiet on the western front. I can't believe that I spaced on Bullet Train To Vegas...damn. Go see the Peccadilloes this Sat. at both Gameworks and at the Double Drama Saloon (where attempted murderers have birthday parties! lol) It's a fun time guaranteed! Everything is updated...blah blah blah
Finally. It seemed like it would never happen, but we played our first show Sat. night @ the Double Down and it was a BLAST! I'm still not sure what happened to Misty's amp (it just didn't wanna work for some reason) but the general consensus seemed to be that we did OK, considering it was our first show and all. Look for a write up on it later this week. I'm so sick of being sick that it's not funny. Anyone out there have a cure for Stage 2 Pneumonia? Drop me a line and let me know ASAP please. So.........I posted a Show Review on Rick's 12 Band Fiesta @ the Cooler Lounge with the Peccadilloes, Vegas Dogs, the Dirty Babies and the Luv-Taps, and you can go here to check it out. The Pictures I took that night can be viewed by clicking here. I want to give special hugs and kisses to Brookelyn, Brew and Misty for making playing music fun for me again. I had such a great time that I can't wait to do it again (this Sat. in Boulder City with the Black Jetts... plug plug). Anyways, I'm outta here. Got lots of personal stuff to do.
