So I'm sitting at a good taco shop for lunch - not those poisonous, over-priced taco shops that Turbo eats at - and I'm reading Vegas Rocks! magazine while eating my taco plate, and I just burst into spontaneous laughter while doing so. This magazine is sooooooooo fucking shitty! I was reading her Editorial about that stoooopid "Awards Show" she just did, with her crying about how ' it's not fixed' and that ' every vote was counted' and ' the best bands won' and all that shit. Really? Do I have to be the one to say it? We all know it, right? That by 'vote', she means 'dollar', because that's what that whole things is about. Money. Paying for shit. You can buy your award, just like you have to buy your way into the category you wish to be nominated in, and just like you have to buy your table at the Awards ceremony, and just like you have to buy ad space just to even be considered for the stupid thing. For her to act and say differently just shows what an air headed idiot she really is. Fucking 80's Sunset Strip trash. I forgot to mention that I saw her when I was @ the Bikini Bar for that Tinglerz / Babilos / Six Shooters To The Sky gig. She was there with her "personal assistant" and just sucked the energy out of the room. Thankfully she left just as quickly as she came, and as soon as she did things went back to normal. It's like when you're talking shit about someone, and then they walk in the room. It's a bit awkward until they leave, then it goes back to normal, ya know? LOL Sally Steele (her real name I'm sure) has a story in the back of her magazine about the night she hung out with Tommy Lee back in the day. Yeah, you and 2,843 other blond haired ho-bags Honey. ;-) It was while I was sitting there enjoying said taco plate when I got a message from a Friend with the tantalizing opening line of " hahahaha guess who doesn't own the cheyenne saloon!!!! Guess who's getting fired from there this week"... hahaha Needless to say, I wiped the grease and salsa and cheese off of my hands and responded immediately, wanting to know just what the Hell this was all about. And after he gave me all the details about it, I think I shit my pants just a little bit from laughing so hard. That's called Karma motherfucker! LOL Why is it every where I go I gotta hear ANOTHER story about this Mark Hornsby dude, always in the Negative or to Ridicule him, from someone who used to work with him at the many places around town he was fired from. Oh well. Guess he can just add the Cheyenne Saloon to his prestigious list of failures - that is, if he doesn't come through on what he said he was going to do, and we all know he's a man that sticks to his word when it comes to that, right? hahahahaha Fucking idiot. 48 hours - Good Luck! You'll need it! And oh yeah - the guy who actually owns the Cheyenne Saloon wants to make sure everyone knows that Mark Hornsby does NOT own the Cheyenne Saloon, no matter what he tells you, and no matter what it says on the Facebook page... heh heh Here's another video I just got all the info for. It's from Rule Of Thumb, a really good Punk Rock / Hardcore / whatever trio from right here in Vegas. I recorded this a looong time ago and just forgot to upload it until recently. Sorry guys! This is a cool song called As One, and it's from their upcoming release that they're working on as we speak. It's an onethirtyeight.org Exclusive! hahahaha Now I sound like Steven from Punks In Vegas! LOL But at least there's no acoustic guitars in this video! ;-) And this is another video I uploaded recently. It's the Tinglerz playing @ Vamp'd like a month ago, doing a song that was called Fever when I was in the band playing it! LOL The Tinglerz are hugely under appreciated here in town and I have no idea why that is, but I love this song regardless. :-) So yeah, got lots of stuff planned for this weekend, which starts tomorrow at that Misfits gig @ the Hard Rock Cafe. Ghey, but at least Guilty By Association is opening it. Tomorrow night it's all about Christy's Birthday Party @ the Motor City Cafe with The People's Whiskey / Tinglerz / The Seriouslys and the Grand Debut of The Civilians, a new band made up of a bunch of old guys playing music they love. Hopefully. It's gonna be a great night of some kick ass Local music and a Celebration Bitches! for one of the raddest chicks I know. Happy Birthday Christy! XOXO Yes, there will be CAKE!! <3 Saturday - forget about it!! Blondie @ Mandalay bay Pool, and then after that I'm running to the House of Boooooo's to catch O.M.D.! It's gonna be 80's flashback night! hahahaha It is going to be soooooooo much FUN!! Now if only the girls I am interested in weren't wasting their time on junky dooshbag scenester fucks, then I could share this awesomeness with someone! Oh well. Just call me Han Solo! Never take sand to the beach, right? Maybe I'll get lucky. Stranger things have happened. ;-)
Everything is updated. New Stuff added, yada yada yada. The Raiders WILL beat the Texans this Sunday - I'm gonna stick my neck out right now and say that! hahahaha And Thank Gawd Hockey Season is here! GO SHARKS!! FUCK THE DUCKS! hahahaha And so it begins! hahahahhaha Have a great weekend - I know I will. :-)
Did I ever post this?? I don't think so, but if I did, Sorry. It's a video I took of the Naked City Romeo's performing Rock 'N Roll's For Kids, off of their fantastic debut CD release. I recorded it @ Artifice a while ago. If you missed the Music Review I did on it, you can click here to check it out for yourself. It's at the bottom of the page. This video is a little dark, so too bad if you can't see everything too clear. It's Punk Rock. It's supposed to be a bit dark. I watch this video all the time when I need a good laugh. The singer Bobbie is just the funniest guy to watch perform. This is Pentagram playing some song that I'm never going to know the Title of at the Cheyenne Saloon a while back. This was the gig that the infamous stickering 'Vandalism' incident went down at. No, I haven't heard anything back about that in case you were wondering. I do know what some of you are up to though... heh heh
Yeah, I'm just cleaning up and clearing out a bunch of shit that either slipped through the cracks or I just plain forgot about. Did you see all the Pictures I posted of that Deadhand / Razorhoof / Smooth Sailing / G.P.B. gig @ Yayo Taco a while back? Well, if you didn't, you can click here or click on the photos to the right of these words here. Either or, I don't care. And check out the pix I took of Six Shooters To The Sky @ the Bikini Bar. They came out pretty sweet. My Family is in town, so I'm doing that whole Touristy thing with them, and because of that I'll be at that stupid Misfits gig @ the Hard Rock Cafe on Thursday... Boooooooooo. And yeah, I know - I'm a Hypocrite, but in my Defense, at least I admit it! LOL See ya there! There's all sorts of stuff happening this weekend, so check out the Gig Calendar page to see what's what. Me? I'm gonna be in 80's Heaven on Saturday - Blondie and then O.M.D.!!! Like, ohmygawd!! Ya know? Totally!! hahaha
If I have to hear one more dooshbag football announcer say how "The Bills are for Real", or that "It's time to Bill-ieve", I think I'm gonna puke. Buffalo got majorly lucky catching Tom Brady on what was possibly the worst game of his career. Fucking Bastards. Fuck you Canadian Bills. And again, Fuck You Danny!! Enjoy it while it lasts motherfucker!!! hahahahahahahahahahahaha The Raiders looked good yesterday in beating the Jets. Sanchez had no time to be eating no hot dogs on the sideline this game... heh heh heh. People are calling it an upset. I never had doubt, but that's just me. I think the Raiders can beat anyone on any day, New England, our next opponent included. They're gonna be scary good once they get their starting receivers back. McFadden - leading rusher in the NFL - Yup! :-) And if this doesn't illustrate how out of control the Refs are in the NFL right now I don't know what does. Click here to watch the video. Where was the hold? Seriously?Criminal Trespassing? Vandalism? Really? Wowsers. You have GOT to be kidding me!!! I'm still waiting for some verification / proof, but if it's true, I'll be ecstatic to have been right about that idiot and his shitty ass Metal club. The last night of Deadhand's month long residency @ the Hypnotic Lounge came to an intimate end this past Saturday, in front of a group of Friends and Fans which ran the gamut from under age, over age, and middle age. I'll leave it to you to guess which one I was! ;-) hahahaha Deadhand played an amazing set, as always, but it was a bit awkward to see Brendan struggle with playing The Cowboy Song by Thin Lizzy, a song he's obviously bored to tears playing. Yuck. Playing covers sucks - trust me I know! hahaha Aluminum Falcon played some Descendents covers, which, of course, sucked, because we hadn't practiced them in a little while, but I think they came out OK. Bikeage and I'm The One I think. We played them for the Punk Rock kids that I saw at the last Deadhand gig @ Yayo Taco. They had come out to support, and they were jumping around and slam dancing while we played. Rad. Holding On To Sound sounded great from the outside of the Hypnotic Lounge, where I think there was more people outside just chatting and chilling than there were inside checking out the band playing. Booooooooooooooooooooooo. Oh well. There was Skittles outside. :-) It was still a fun as fuck night, with the gig ending early Da Falcon flew around the Naked City after dropping off the band equipment in search of Food, Music, Drugs, Drink, Debauchery and Guys with eye patches. We were successful on all counts. ;-) Friday night I was hanging outside of the Bikini Bar, enjoying a nice Chicago style Polish sandwich combo that I had scored from the Sausage Fest food truck, fighting off the urge to go to that Pussycat's strip club and get into trouble when my partner in crime George strolled up. After he made fun of me for eating and not drinking we ventured inside for beers and Babilos, a band that I've always promoted but never seen before, and now that I have, I gotta say they were pretty good. Old school Big 4 Metal ala early Metallica and Slayer played by a scary looking group of hombres who were either Mexican, or Indian, or Filipino or a combination thereof, just pulverizing the crowd with their brooootaaal ass Metal music. They brought out a lot of people, a lot of really good looking people, like, chicks in club attire and the Jersey Shore types they attract, who all immediately left after Babilos was done blowing the roof off the joint. Sad to see but whatever. Poor Tinglerz played right after them to a virtually empty room, which always sucks. It didn't deter them from playing a great set though, but it just would of been nice if there would of been a few more people there to see it. Six Shooters To The Sky fared a little better in the opening slot, they had a few Friends there checking them out, and after watching them play I was a bit peeved that they broke up in the first place. They are sooooooooooo fucking good!! I don't remember them being that good, but then again, I can't remember the last time I saw them before Friday. University Theater? Slanted Clam? I dunno, but it's been too long. I hope they keep it together and do something with this. I was talking to them all before they played, and I asked them why they broke up, and they all gave different answers but all typical band shit - Sex, Drugs, Money, Drama. When I asked them why they got back together they couldn't give me an answer. But it was Liz, the bass playing Goddess, who after their set came up to me and said You know why we got back together? Honestly? It was because we were bored. That sentiment is the reason a lot of the great bands did it, and Six Shooters To The Sky may become one of the great Vegas bands, that is, if they don't kill each other first. Great little gig @ the Bikini Bar last Friday. That place needs some drink specials though... OK. I've on babbled long enough. Everything's updated, new Pictures of Unfair Fight, Tinglerz and Deadhand from their gig @ Hypnotic Lounge a while back are up, and I'm just getting around to doing those Motor City Cafe photos, which started off with the Seriouslys. Those chicks are kick ass and you should check them out whenever you get the chance. Lots of stuff coming up this weekend, so check out the Gig Calendar page and plan accordingly. I think I'm gonna go grab a pastrami sandwich. :-)
I live for gigs like that one last night. I really do. Small, intimate things with a handful of Friends in attendance, glorified practices really, and the vibe is just so relaxed, stress free, I dunno, something. The Bands are basically playing for each other and the 2 or 3 other idiots in attendance who have nothing better to do than to come out and check out some bands they've never heard of, on the slim chance that one of them might be worth remembering and maybe worth scrounging some change together to buy some merch off of the band to help their gas funds to get them to the next gig. Yeah, that's what last nights gig @ Yayo Taco was all about, and I loved every minute of it. I only made the effort to see Deadhand, who I am currently obsessed with, but seeing a band like Razorhoof just throw down the sickness with their Neurosis / Eyehategod Noise not Music was worth the $5 admission donation price alone. Click here to check out the bands Facebook page. And what's up with the new changes to the layout of Facebook? Can you say, LAME!! hahahaha Smooth Sailing were pretty good too, in a Refused / At The Drive In kind of way, shaking the walls of Yayo Taco loose with their double bass playing musical onslaught. Click here to check their Facebook page out and become their Friend. And I finally got to see G.P.B., who are just the cutest bunch of Punk kids ever! They're like a cross between Rancid and the Casualties, and every one of their songs is, uhhhmmm, how should I put this, "inspired", by bands like the Dead Boys, Sham 69 and the 4-Skins. They played a NOFX cover that never changed tempo once, even though it was supposed to... heh heh heh. Deadhand played a NOFX cover too, Linoleum, and had some random Punk kid sing it and lose his shit while doing so. His buddy helped out on backup vocals too... rad. It was cute and awesome at the same time. Totally laid back night @ Yayo Taco. You should of been there. You missed out. :-) Tomorrow night Pigasus is playing at the Beauty Bar for some reason, but I couldn't find shit on Facebook about it. I thought it was for something about tattoos or some shit, but who knows. Friday night Danny, The Prince of Drummers, is putting on a show at the place he works at, the Bikini Bar, that he's calling The Clash Of The Scenes, and it's featuring the Tinglerz, Six Shooters To The Sky and Babilos, and you can click here to check out all the info about it on the Facebook event page for it. Isn't Facebook wonderful? Takes all the effort out of promoting a gig! LOL And everybody is complaining about the new Facebook layout but I dunno, I like it. It works for me and simplifies everything. Whatever. And don't forget about this gig happening @ the Hypnotic Lounge this Saturday. It should be a night of Local Music Sexiness!!!! Deadhand, Aluminum Falcon and Holding Onto Sound. I was told that Dead Neon dropped off... Booooooooooooo. See ya there! XOXOXOXOXO Robots are SEXXXY!! <3
You know it's a good Birthday when you get so wasted that you have to leave your own Birthday party because you're too drunk to party! hahahaha Yeah, Mel's B-Day @ the Bunkhouse this past Sat. was a fucking blast! Six Shooters To The Sky killed it, Stereohigh fucking played for about an hour and a half too long, and the Vegascendents thrashed our way through an almost impressive set. New songs were played, and old songs were forgotten - it was great! LOL And Kudos! to whoever kept screaming at me to get naked... LOL It was a ruff ride for me after what I had been through at Reggae In The Desert earlier that day though. Wowsers. Drinking in the bright sunshine sure is draining!
First off, anyone who tells you that the Indians don't rule the front stage area of Reggae In The Desert is a bald faced liar! LOL It's getting so bad now that we all are starting to remember each others names. ;-) And how they're able to get full bottles of booze into the place undetected is beyond me - hahaha The searches this year were terrible - I almost didn't get all of my drugs in! LOL And, they served Guinness there this year! Woo Hoo! It was Heavenly! And the Music, oh the Music was glorious! Don Carlos was incredible, and Mykal Rose just fucking killed it, leading the crowd in a hair raising version of Natty Dreadlocks that was just awesome to see and hear. And Freddie McGregor, the King of Lover's Rock, just OWNED the place with a waaaaaay too short set of hits including Bobby Babylon, Just Don't Want To Be Lonely, Big Ship, Africa and If You Want To Go. He even did a few of his Brother Dennis Brown's songs mid-set, which was just sick as fuck. Ending the night with a couple of old school Ska songs, which had him High Steppin' and Skanking and out-dancing guys in his band who were 30 years younger than him! hahaha It was great to see. I tried to dance but my back and legs weren't having it... LOL Reggae In The Desert 2011 was the shit! Rastafari! Praise Jah! King of Kings! Lord of Lords! Lion of Judah! hahaha That was for Jeremy, because he loves that stuff. :-)
Deadhand are my new favorite band. Seriously. They're fucking incredible. <3 I saw a tiny bit of video, heard some glowing reports from a few people who's musical opinion I value, and I used to share a rehearsal space with them, so I know about what I speak of! LOL Congrats on a spectacular CD release show. I fucking wish I could of been there. :-(
Everything's updated. Butthole Surfers are coming to town. Go to the Gig Calendar page to read all about it. While uploading the videos I took this weekend, I found this S.F.T. video I never posted before, so I thought I would leave you with that. It was taken last month @ the Divebar, and I think the song is called D.U.I., but I'm not sure. Enjoy!
