It's funny that everywhere I go as of late people keep asking me if I really liked the Seriously's or if I was just being nice. Apparently, some people don't know me all that well, because one, I'm not a nice guy and two, if I didn't like the band, I wouldn't of said shit about them on here - no mention, no backhanded compliments, nothing. My days of kissing some bands ass just to get something out of them are looooooong over. I saw the band, I liked them, I wrote what I did, and that's that. You all will have the opportunity to check them out yourselves at the next gig the Seriously's play, whenever that is, and then you can either agree with what I said or come up with your own assessment. I believe you will like what you hear.
Speaking of checking out bands, this Thursday @ the LVCS, another Benefit gig for the poor kids of Africa to get a well dug is happening, and it's featuring Dick Falcon, Last Night's Heroes (hopefully) and the debut of a band called Viva Valhalla, comprised of a bunch of people you may know, like Tony from Thirteen34 / Give 'Em Hell / Swenson Street Hookers, and some other band called the Sonorous Tubes or something like that, and Dave, aka the Pikey, an English bloke who you would know from being a crazy gifted tattoo artist @ Last Chance Tattoo and as someone you see at gigs around town, usually on the arm of Ainjil from Pigasus, who owns his hair and his feet and everything in between. ;^) Anyways, come out and support a great cause and see the debut of a band that's either gonna be really, really good, or a major dud of a disappointment. There will be no middle ground accepted from these guys, promise.
Tonight is the Guttermouth show @ The University Theatre. I totally spaced it and forgot that it was happening tonight, even though it's listed on my Myspace page as well as on this website. Senility I tells ya ! Marc is in town (if you see him before I do, ask him when that Republic reunion is happening), so I'm hoping to hang out with him and George and Jennifer, The Maker of Cheese Drums, as well as George, The Hardest Working Man In The Business World this weekend, as well as my old guitar playing mutant boy buddy Darryl Skytzo, who's band Crash Course (click here to check out their Myspace page) is playing The Double Down on Saturday night. Ugh. St. Patrick's Day. I'm avoiding green beer like the plague. Corned Beef and Cabbage, Jameson's Whiskey, Irish Car Bombs, big titty Red Headed women, I'm all about it, but green beer ? Phooey. I have some very interesting options available, like dinner and a movie (again babe ? LOL), bar hopping, Circus Circus (don't ask) or house parties galore. Any other suggestions. Chances are I'm just gonna get drunk and pass out early somewhere like I usually do, but at least this time I won't be stranded. Or wake up sticky. Or will I ? I think Infestshit is finally taking a step in the right direction and finally gettin off their asses and getting into a recording studio. Thank Allah. I'm so sick of hearing Brian introduce a song that we have been playing for over a year now as "a new song" (coughcoughDeathTollRisingcoughcough) when we have like 4 or 5 brand spanking new, already done, ready to be recorded, sick as fuck tunes we could be playing. If you've seen us lately you've heard us play War Machine. As sick as that song is, the new stuff is sicker. A bit disturbing too. I like it. Hopefully the recorded stuff sees the light of day, and hopefully, we'll be playing them live somewhere, like when we're opening up for Conflict on their upcoming Tour. Is anyone besides me amazed that a band like Infestshit is opening up 4 shows for them on their only American Tour ? Holy fuck. Say what you want about their politics or their choice of musical directions, but Conflict draws HUGE crowds, and it's gonna be funny watching Infestshit playing in front of an audience that big, while Steve Ignorant stands off to the side of the stage, checking them out as well.... hee hee hee In keeping with the newly started tradition, I present to you onethirtyeight.org's newest friend, Fluent. They're a band from AZ. with a sound leaning more towards Limp Bisquick and Korn and Rage Against The Machine territory, but since they made the effort to ask to be my friend, I figure the least I can do is ask you to check them out. Char, I hope you're reading this... hahahahaha. I would just like to say that Justin is the nicest guy in the world and working out most excellent. To watch him and George write out Tabliture for songs we're working on is fascinating. It's like a secret language or something that only musicians understand. It's neat. We're gonna demo some stuff Sunday, of course, assuming that I don't die, get arrested, or end up somewhere I shouldn't be after St. Patrick's Day festivities. Wish me luck. Weird Scenes Inside The Gold Mine... Am I going crazy? The answer is yes. I find it harder to write as of late, knowing what I want to say, and what I'm eventually going to say, are two completely different entities. What started out as some sort of fanboy fanzine about a scene that I had just moved into (Vegas had a lot more websites dedicated to it's music scene than it does now... *sigh*), and as a way to let my friends and family back home in CA. know what I'm up to here in Vegas, has morphed into this be all/end all source of what's going on or what's "cool" here in town and the #1 place to talk shit, and as the best source ever for local Las Vegas band drama. I find it harder to put out what I really want to say, having to censor myself or shape thoughts and images into interesting views for public consumption. I could give two shits less about what anybody thinks, and I think I've strayed from that for a bit. Not really, but you get my point hopefully. Weird people read these words. I'm not sure why. But from now on, I'm just gonna put it out there, make it more blog-like, trying to post something everyday and put into hard forms what's basically going on in Tag Board and Myspace land. I think that's what people come here for, something to read. Why not give it to them? I think the writers block is over. so let's make the most of it. The video game distraction is gone. I'm seeing things a lot clearer now than ever before. 2007 is one-quarter of the way over. I got way too much stuff to do, and too many people to do it with. I'm hoping this works. It's a good plan anyways. Best of intentions and all that. Wish me luck. I'm still not sure what's going on with Last Shot Tattoo. I heard it was canceling all shows after some fighting or bullshit that went down @ Friday's 1/2 Ast / False Cause / S.S. Hookers (thanx Sal !) gig. A few bands here in town say no shows are cancelled, a few bands say shows are cancelled. I don't care one way or the other. I would of done the good reporter thing and just called down there and asked what's up myself, or dropped them a line on their Myspace page (which can be found here), but I'm a lazy sod. so I didn't. Hope things work out for the place. I won't go there unless I have to, but lots of kids do go there, so it does serve a purpose... somewhat. Is everyone through with picking on The Objex / Joe Perv ? Have we given him enough Haterade to fuel his monster faces for another year ? Hope so. Let them play The Rainbow and The Slanted Clam to the coked out underage bar scene they so desperately want to be a part of (Maulus Clothing... ugh !) and be happy. I did this thing on Myspace yesterday where I highlighted a band that had requested to be my friend on there. If you're on my Friend's List you got the bulletin. That band was Leroy, and you can click here to see what him and his band are all about. Don't know why I did it, but I'm hoping to do it more. Idle Gossip page has been updated, as well as the Links page. Calendar page is updated daily, and I'm working on an idea for turning the Downloads page into this Vegas based band history kind of thing, highlighting demos and obscure stuff from long forgotten heroes of old. I have a shitload of demos, and I'm sure I could get my hands on a lot more. All you old guys with shoe boxes full of long forgotten demo tapes get a hold of me pronto. I'm really thinking I'm gonna do it. What's happening with Infestshit ? Good question. I have no idea. I could speculate, but I won't. Those kids got enough problems as it is... hahhahaha. Just kidding. I love them all. And me and George have been working with a guitarist as of late who has passed the rigorous standards we have presented every guitar player with, that is, the ability to count to 4 and the ability to show up to practice on time. Justin does both very well, and has a job and his own equipment. You'd be surprised at how many guitar players here in town have no equipment to call their own, heh heh heh. In other words, he's an anomaly as far as the world of guitarists are concerned. Hee hee hee Look for demo stuff coming very very soon. You have been warned.
You ever have one of those dreams where everything makes sense, all is good, and right about the time that you realize that all your problems could be solved if you just paid attention to what was going on, or to the circumstances around you or even to what was being said, then BLAMMO! You forget what the solution was, you forget what was being said, you forget the circumstances you found yourself in. Yeah, me too. Don't you hate it when that happens?

I can't explain the overwhelming feeling of dread that washed over me while getting prepared to attend that Bronx gig. I hate the Double Down but it's cool when me and you go there late at night and drink and talk, as long as it's about ANYTHING but Guns N Roses... heh heh. Happy Birthday Homo. I love you.
Lots of Vegas bands doing stuff. Playing gigs, both locally and out of state, recording lots of new demos, taking pictures of themselves @ their drunken bar shows...I'm hyped on all of it. The problem is, none of the bands I'm in are doing any of that...heh heh. Someone tell me what's going on? Did I miss a Memo or something? I'm loving the Back Stabbath tunes, the Vulcans demo is amazing, The Mapes make me laugh every time one of their songs comes up in my rotation, Dirty Panties music is OK, and even the Swenson Street Hookers stuff is good in small doses. Summer is right around the corner and I have only 2 words to say ~ Desert Shows. Let's make this shit happen! Who's down?
I jumped the gun a bit about The Exploited thing. The show is on. British Invasion Tour 2007, here in Vegas. I was just sick of negotiating with "their people" and let Brian handle it after a bit. I just didn't give a fuck after a while. That's why he's the Brains of Doomsday Productions. He worked his ass off to make the show happen and bring it to Vegas, and all thanks go to him. Well, him and The Objex. Why The Objex, you ask? Well, that's because they were stupid (or desperate) enough to actually PAY to be on the bill. Yup. Pay To Pay is alive and well and living in Las Vegas, and bands like The Objex further perpetrate the fraud by their participation in the scam. Shame on them.
Music Reviews coming up, Calendar page is updated, San Jose is in a slump, and I'm lost in video game land. I like going to shows. Are there any good ones coming up? Besides the ones Infestshit are playing? :-) Just because a show is on my Gig Calendar doesn't mean that I would go to it. It's more of a courtesy to my friends and whatnot. Speaking of friends, see you all @ the D.I. show this Saturday. It's an early matinee show (remember when Matinee shows would happen @ The Huntridge Theatre? Neither do I.), so either stay up all night drinking and go to the show, or wake up early and start drinking before the show. Special Brew for breakfast... mmmmmmmmmmmm. And then there's the after party @ Sin's house. Moonpies and Strawberry Shortcakes for all. Holy Fuck. Somebody save me...
