Shellac... Wowsers. I just got done posting up all the photos I took (which you can see by clicking here), and I was just reminded of what an Epic performance it was. It's funny that everybody and their Mom asked me about it, but not a lot of people I know went. Me, Jeff from the Bitters, Catasco, Louie The Letch, Jack from Pigasus & Pamela, Brent from the Underground, and that was pretty much it. The rest of the audience was made up of trendy fucks and really old Hipsters, like, people who were the Hip Young ones back in 1992. LOL It was like the Downtown Dooshbag Scene were just there because it was an event, something they heard was Cool but knew nothing about. Disgusting, but oh well. I had a blast, which is all that matters. So yeah, check the Pictures out, and if you like the new layout, or even if you don't, you have Ashley to thank for that, because I totally stole the idea from her! LOL Ashley is a very close Friend of mine and she has her own website for her amazing photography work ( www.ashleychance.com) and I'm on there all the time checking out what she's up to and what she's shot lately. She's got 'The Eye', something that all great Photographers have, and I'm very jealous of her Talent and I try to steal from her every chance I get... hahaha Anyways, check her website out and if you need any sort of photographic work done, hit her up about it and she'll shoot it for you on the cheap. Real Photography is an Art, and she is truly an Artist. Support man, Support. :-) I was gonna do a Show Review of the Shellac gig, but I didn't do anything to remember it afterwords, like write it down or tape some notes like I usually do, because I had to skedaddle to Cali immediately afterwords, and after everything that went down there, the Shellac gig seems like eons ago and almost inconsequential. Almost I said. :-) Yeah, California was a trip. I spent my time just wandering around my old Home town and just... reminiscing. Running into Old and Dear Friends, remembering how things once were and then seeing how things are is quite humbling, to say the least. I hadn't been back to Whittier proper in 20 years... Wowsers. I can't let that happen again. I had a great time while I was there. I ate and went everywhere I could. Saw a couple of cool bands (The Backdoor Preachers and Civil Disgust). Missed out on seeing Face To Face and Walk Proud @ Alex's in Long Beach because I was having too much fun in Whittier and couldn't tear myself away from it. Sorry to mis Hermanos in Walk Proud. Why is it every time I'm out of state fucking Face To Face is playing? LOL gawd my trip was such fun. I think I'm gonna post some Pictures on here of it all... maybe.Hey! Guess what? I have a gig I'm playing this Sat.! Woo Hoo! 2 weekends in a row. This could set a bad precedent... heh heh. Aluminum Falcon will be ripping it up with some other cool as fuck Punk bands of all shapes and sizes and you should start your Halloween festivities off that night by grubbing on some tacos and watching us play. I'll be the guy behind the sexy orange drum man sized drum set - what I'll be wearing this year is up to you to come out and see. I'll tell you one thing though - it ain't gonna be no Star Wars costume! LOL Ya know, now that I think about it, The Captain never gave me those Pictures he took of us last year playing in costume @ the LVCS. Booooooooooooooo to him. It's Halloween, which means that it's also the end of October. I got waaaayyyy too much going on to even focus on writing down what's been going on in my head as of late. I'm on such a high right now that I don't ever wanna come down, and if things work out, maybe I won't have to. Gifts from the North are in transit and I eagerly await their delivery. Long may the Crow fly. Forever may the Wolf howl. See you on Saturday. Wear a costume.
:-)
If I was staying in town, I'd be be checking out some of the kick ass gigs happening this weekend. That Riverboat Gamblers / Deadhand / Holding On To Sound / Dead To Me gig @ the Bunkhouse tonight is going to be AMAZING! I plan on being ballz deep in a cleansing, hallucinogenic world of my own accord at about the same time the gig is happening, so drink a few for me, will ya? Saturday I'd have to be at that Swenson St. 4th of July on Labor Day party with the Apocalyptics and the Seriouslys and the Scoundrels, and then afterwards I'd be avoiding that D.U.I. check point that's gonna be on Tropicana / Paradise to head downtown to see Pigasus and the Tinglerz playing with Flexx Bronco @ the Beauty Bar. Then if I wasn't in jail the next day, I'd be standing around with all of the other Poseurs @ Yayo Taco for that Bloody Phoenix / Alarido / Equal Opportunity Destroyer / Die Laughing gig, and then once that was over I'd head to Meathead's to see the Quitters with Confused Little Girl, who are all the way from Orlando, FLA. But I mean, shit, there's other gigs happening too, like Deadhand & The Akashic Record @ Hypnotic on Sat., or even that gig in Pahrump with Reel Big Fish / Guilty By Association (who's playing drums???) / Haleamano and Tuesday After School on Sunday. When it rains it pours with Gigs here in Las Vegas. Either they're all happening at the same time on the same day, or they're not happening at all. Phooey. If I was in town this weekend, I'd have a lot of deciding to do.
But I'm not. Instead, I'll be here on Friday...
It's been 40 years already... Wowsers... Yup! Back Home amongst the trees and more drunk than any man should ever be, I will be lost in a fog of Singing, Dancing, Drinking, Drugging and Eating until my face falls off permanently stuck in an Idiot Grin. I'm hoping I live to tell the tale but if I don't, that's cool too. I'm at peace with it. :-) Pow Wow's RULE!!
Oh, but I will be tearing myself away on Saturday to be at this gig in La Mirada. It's Youth Gone Mad / The Backdoor Preachers / Death On The Radio and the Blabber Mouths. I have no idea about any of the other bands but it really doesn't matter. It's going to be interesting. I get to see some dear old Friends, jam on some Tunes, and most importantly, support a really worthwhile cause. If you're in the area, stop on by! I would Love to see you...
I'm a sucker for any cause that sells Cupcakes to raise funds! <3 Yeah, I can't wait to feel the Love! L-U-V! Crash out in Whittier, grab some Pizzamania for the road and then it's back to the Rez for the remainder of the Pow Wow. Sunday night is the best night, because that's when they award all the prize money to the winner's of all the different dancing competitions, so you see some amazing footwork going on out there, and then the 49 afterwords is always the best, because most people split and can't hang and only the true Hardcore can make it through that. Again, if you're in the San Diego area and wish to feel threatened by standing amongst a bunch of Mad, Drunken Indians just looking for a reason to do anything that includes Violence, then please stop by and hang out with me. I'll be the Drunk Punk passed out in the Tree. Seriously. Everything's updated. I added the Pictures of that band The Lips that I mentioned in my last post, and by the time I go Live with this posting I'll probably have finished those Pictures I have of The People's Whiskey, so look for that somewhere on here. I got all sorts of shit to put up here, like Videos, a whole shitload of Music Reviews, and a bunch more Pictures, but I just don't got the time. I did the math while chatting up some Bird recently, and I told her I was in 6 bands, but in reality it's 8 - 4 that are actively gigging, and 4 that are just sort-of Projects. The rehearsal schedule is maddening, to say the least. I don't know how I got into this position, and I'm not sure if it's the best thing for me to be doing, but you know what? I'm having fun, and in the long run, that's all that matters. I'm gonna be on Vacation for a bit, obviously, but I'll be back soon. Maybe. Hopefully... heh heh Have a Great Weekend! :-)
