heh heh heh Detroit Rock City - funny movie. :-) And it's 4:20 in the morning... suhhh-weeeet! I did fuck all this weekend and it felt pretty good. I mean, I was doing 2 a day band practices - each practice with a different band, which will definitely keep you on your toes, that's for sure. I broke my drum kick pedal during the process, and by that I mean the steel bar that makes the pedals move just broke, like, snapped in two... weird. Bringing the Thunder each and every time. Yup! Thankfully Sunday's practice with Pigasus was called off, because Jesse & Roxie bid on some trip to Disneyland at some 80's themed auction the night before and they won, so for her Birthday they drove out to Anaheim, and they're even getting the star treatment because of Jesse's association with that Pawn Stars show. That is sooooo funny it's cool! LOL Couldn't happen to 2 nicer people. I'm sure they're gonna have the greatest time there. Not as good a time as when the Loud Pipes went there, but still... heh heh Congrats to Demon Lung on their CD release party. Kudos for whoever kicked the creepy drunk guy in the face at that same gig. I didn't wake up on Saturday morning to read anything about any naked, drunken escapades leading to any arrests in Hendertucky, so I can only assume that The People's Whiskey 420 party went well and stayed within Legal boundaries. Bob tried to tell me about The Dirty Panties gig @ the Double Clown, but he wasn't making any sense, so I'm guessing it was a fun time had by all. That's how it's supposed to be. Everyone Happy and having Fun. :-) Thanks to everyone for your concerns about me, but I'm fine. Seriously. Everything is updated. New photos of Vihan Rytmi were posted last week (click here to see them) but I forgot to tell anyone about them, and I just posted the photos I took of Deadhand @ the Double Clown a little while ago, and you can click here to see them. I'm gonna go back to listening to Stern before I get some sleep. I gotta wake up early to get a kick drum pedal at Guitar Center before band practice. Pigasus is playing @ the Bar & Bistro this Sat. night for Bobby Franks Birthday Party, and then on Cinco de Mayo @ the Arts Factory with the Mapes - get HYPED!! <3
I'm currently sitting here @ 4 in the morning with my two lovely house guests Sidney and Murphy, watching Family Guy's Kiss Saves Santa Christmas Special, and languishing in the afterglow of a well played Aluminum Falcon set @ the Motor City Cafe. Add them as a Friend if you haven't already, because what they got going on down there is definitely worth supporting. And Thanx to everyone for coming out and getting all Punky Rocky in the place while we played. Eastside Joe, always good to see you, and Mad Man Zack?? Fuuuuuuuck. I haven't seen that kid since he got kicked out of that Loud Pipes gig @ Diablo's a while back. LOL I had fun tonight. People said we sounded good, and we did a flurry of Descendents songs at the end of our set for some reason. :-) I watched Surrounded By Thieves just kill it from outside through the window, because I had to set my kit up and gossip with George, the Man without Feelings, and some kid who said he used to go to all the Loud Pipes gigs back in the day. And now he was hanging out with me at a bar. Crazy. I can't wait to hear the newly recorded Surrounded By Thieves material. Their stuff is pretty kick ass. That song Red White & Fuck You (I think that's what it's called) is still stuck in my head hours later. They're one of the better bands treading the boards here in Vegas right now, and you could do yourself a favor by checking them out when you get the chance. Yup! And sorry to Xomby for missing out on their set. I blame Jeremy. Damn him for being responsible and all that shit. ;-) GO RAIDERS!!! FUCK THE BILLS!!!
Yeah, that game starts in a few hours, so I better kipper a nap before I start drinking and eating Buffalo wild wings, courtesy of the Prince of Drummers, Danny from Pigasus. He works at the Bikini Bar now, the old Sand Dollar Blues Lounge on Spring Mountain, so if you ever wanted to see him sporting a banana hammock, now's your chance. Head down there immediately and let him make you happy with generous servings of booze. After you get your football on today, head down to see that Give gig happening @ Yayo tonight. It's gonna be crazy good and if I'm not too cockeyed I just might see ya there. Them taco plates be a calling meeeeeeeee... Punk Rock! Tacos! Beer!
Well, I'm back on top of that list. You now, the list that some people have that says 'Jump this person as soon as you see him'... LOL All for talking shit about the Divebar which, by the way, is still open. What is this, the Kiss "Final Tour Ever" bullshit? hahaha Tero from the Divebar said somewhere that they're closing because of financial reasons and for personal circumstances that got out of control. I'll leave it to you to guess as to what those personal circumstances are... heh hehThe sun is coming up on a brand new day, a day in which I went public with a new relationship on Facebook, which, apparently, is how things are done nowadays. LOL She's the best girl ever. You're all invited to the wedding. <3 It was also a day that I got to see Unfair Fight win some Battle of the Bands thing at Diablo's, and, a day in which Area 702's fight to stay alive as an All Ages venue for bands to play at came to an end. Yeah, apparently the City Council or some shit 86'd Area 702's bid to stay open, and I'm kind of mixed about it. I mean, on one hand, it sucks that Vegas loses this venue, but just like the Sanctuary, or the Farm before them, I really don't give a shit because the bands that played at all those venues were a bunch of pitiful poseur scenester bands who didn't deserve a place to play! LOL The few times I ventured into those places and observed that absolute dooshbaggery Rockstar bullshit these bands perpetrated just made me El Oh El! You would of thought these Local bands were already signed to Atlantic Records and had toured the world 3 times over with the way they were acting and carrying on. And I'm not even gonna get started on how shitty most of the bands who played there are, because that just makes me sound like 'that old guy' which I guess I am, but coming from my D.I.Y. background like I do, I just get upset that kids today just expect everything to be handed to them or done for them, while none of them take the initiative to do something themselves. Like Sal did. Sal from TheCore was telling me about this thing he started called Revive Vegas, which is basically a vehicle to set up charity shows and auctions and to help out of state bands book Local shows here, which sounds like a great thing to me. Anything anybody wants to try and do to keep Las Vegas as a viable option for touring bands to consider playing at is cool in my book, and him doing charity shows with Local bands helping those less fortunate than us just makes me wanna give Sal a big ol' sloppy hug and kiss -- with tongue! ;-) But seriously, support Sal in this endeavor. It's pretty fucking epic. If you can volunteer your time, or help out by playing the gigs, or if you have some stuff you can put up for auction, contact Sal at Revive Vegas on their Facebook page right here and let him know what you can do. Kudos to you Sal, Kudos! <3 OK, to get back to the Unfair Fight @ Diablo's story; I had no idea it was a Battle of the Bands thing until I got there. I probably wouldn't of gone if I knew it was. Thank Allah they were selling $1 Heinekens - I was double fisting all night! LOL I got there just as the first band finished, watched Unfair Fight rip through a set of new songs that I didn't recognize or never heard before (Dan later told me that they played a bunch of new stuff, which sounded amazing, BTW), and then afterwords watched this group called Clonk (or maybe Clunk?) that was made up of a bunch of angry Metal dudes (and 1 chick) playing this choppy, headbanging melodic noise while fully decked out as evil clowns, ala Slipknot or I.C.P. or some shit like that. It was interesting, to say the least... heh heh. The way they were judging who won this Battle of the Bands shit was by some sort of decibel reading machine which measured the noise of the crowd, and Unfair Fight won by, and I quote Local Show Joe here, "a nut hair" - they won by only a 1 point higher decibel point reading! Woo hoo! hahahahaha It was pretty sweet that they won, and, I think, a little bit of a shock to the guys in the band. The looks on their face were priceless! Oh well, they won $500 for their trouble and now move on to the 2nd round, and I was happy to be there to see them win it. Congratulations guys, and Good Luck in the next round! :-) Some interesting gigs happening this weekend. The Double Down will be jumping tonight with the Tinglerz and Dead Birds And Blind Kids, same with the Hard Rock Cafe where Unearth and In Shadows Embrace will be shaking the structure right down to it's shoddy workmanship foundation. If you're in the downtown area tonight, Penn Jillette And The No God Band will be playing @ the Bunkhouse for some UNLV benefit, so check that out if you're interested. I hear they play Punk covers. ;-) Also @ Artifice, Andrew Kiraly, ex singer of old school Vegas punk band Boba Fett Youth, wrote a book about those good ol' days of being a Punk and is having his book release party on Friday. Should be interesting, to say the least. He acts like he's the only one to get punched in the face for having an opinion... heh heh Saturday Surrounded By Thieves is playing with the Bogarts @ Yayo Taco, the Seriouslys are playing at the Double Down, and if you're in the mood to dance early in the afternoon, then head over to the Sanctuary to see the Remedies and Tuesday After School play some All Ages dance party. Come on, it's OK if you're the oldest guy there. Trust me, it gets easier to deal with the older you get! heh heh heh Everything is updated. Have a great weekend. I'll be at the Artifice all weekend with my new girlfriend if anyone needs me. :-) Emole, aka Bryan, one of the many ex Loud Pipes singers, is in town from San Fran - Let's party! He and I will be at Artifice on Saturday for the Bike Prom which is going on that night. Click here for more info on the event. Bicycle Prom... good grief!! What's next? Toaster Sadie Hawkins dance? Melo - good seeing and drinking and bullshitting with ya Brother! XOXOXO Good meeting your Wife as well! Keep up on that Indian stuff - it pays off I tells ya! hahaah And Hey!!! Where's that Cyanide Blues live stuff at, ya bastard? hahaha Gotta go. It's gonna be a great weekend. :-)
Cows on drugs... you gotta love that!
Fuck the Warped Tour. Seriously. I'm glad that Battle Born is playing it and all that, but gawd damn is that shitty lineup some of the WORST bands I've ever heard of in my Life. It's no wonder that only dooshbag chicks, ghey ass scene kids, and Hank! are hyped about it happening today... hahaha That was a joke. Sarcasm. Not meant to be taken seriously. I'm talking to you Pulsar and Jarrett...After band practice I usually grab Mr. Wizard and look to veg out / chillax in front of my big ass computer monitor on anything but music, like reading about the differences between serial killers and mass murderers or watching videos on YouTube about how to make ebelskivers. In any case, I always find cool stuff out there, like this teaser about the new Jesus Lizard Club DVD that's coming out in Aug. Seeing David Yow work the crowd gives me the shivers. That dude is psychotic and frightening. I cannot wait to get my paws on that DVD. Jesus Lizard is one of the greatest bands I ever saw live. Seeing them destroy this seedy little dive bar called the Shamrock in Hollywood on a Thursday night is something I will never forget. It was scarier than anything I ever saw GG Allin do, that's for damn sure. Saw them at Club Lingerie, Raji's, the Palladium... what the Hell was I thinking back then? LOL Oh, to be Young and Stupid again...
Speaking of bands I saw a lot back in the Daze, Jane's Addiction have a new album coming out pretty soon that I'm hyped about, especially after seeing the video of them performing in Brazil or some crappy place like that, debuting songs off their upcoming release down there. Well, one of the songs they played, End To The Lies, is the first single off the new album called The Great Escape Artist, and this is the official video for it. Do you remember when videos used to be watched on T.V., and not on the Internet? Yeah, me too... womp womp womp womp. Cue the sad trombone! hahaha Yeah, I'm always gonna have a soft spot in my heart for those guys, just like I'm always gonna have a soft spot in my heart for puppets, explosions, fire, cartoony violence and face shredding Metal, and all of those can be found in this Mastodon video from the Adult Swim channel for an unreleased song called Deathbound. Why on there? I don't know. All I know is that it's a great song and I love watching this video... heh heh heh
And what does all of this have to do with Las Vegas or Punk Rock? Well, the answer is, NOTHING! hahahaha Except for a few Birthdays that happened these past few days (Happy Birthday Bob! Happy Birthday Patty Cakes! Happy Birthday Ainjil! <3), it's been a pretty quiet week. Band practice is killing me and I could care less. I'm getting comfortable with the loss of movement I'm gradually building up. ;-) 4th of July weekend is here, and besides this awesome Wedding party gig with the Loud Pipes / The Southside Gashers / The Unidentified on Sat. @ Yayo Taco, there's other stuff going on as well.
I just hope there will be CAKE!! <3 You also have this pre-gig happening on Saturday afternoon with the Happy Campers and Surrounded By Thieves, going on right before the Face To Face / Strung Out gig @ the HOB. I saw this exact same Face To Face / Strung Out gig in Seattle when I was just there, and was bored to tears. Don't ask why I was there... heh heh
Sunday will be recovery day, and Monday is the 4th! What's everyone doing? Is the Annual Swenson Street 4th of July Party going down? Anybody know? Let me know if it is. I'll be at Casa Amoroso drinking fluids, charring dead flesh and blowing stuff up, and hopefully not choking on my own vomit in the front seat of my car like I almost did a while back! hahaha Have a great weekend! Good Luck to Guilty By Association on their upcoming Tour! Same with Holding On To Sound! Knock 'em dead guys!
It's 3 am on a beautiful Tuesday morning. Howard Stern is bitching about something and I could give a shit less. I've had the most interesting past few days ever, and I'm currently in the middle of major rehearsals with 3 different bands that have me not knowing which way is up. The Loud Pipes have a gig coming up soon, same with the Vegascendents, and I got a new band that I'm pretty hyped about. Aluminum Falcon has been 'shelved', for lack of a better term, and this new band helps ease the pain of the frustration of not being able to take Aluminum Falcon to greater heights than we did. Oh well. It wasn't from lack of trying, I can assure you of that. Starting a new band is like getting a new girlfriend. It's always fun in the beginning. ;-)
I heard nothing but great things about the Zombie Prom @ the Bunkhouse on Fri. I don't know if I believe the story Turbo told me, but it still sounded fun! hahaha I love the Tinglerz and I dig the Seriouslys. I was at the sidewalk sale for Cowtown Guitars Sat. afternoon, chatting away and eating hot dogs with the 2 new owners, Jesse & Roxie, and their offspring, Gadzuki, who kept everyone on their toes by throwing around a super rubber bounce ball that everybody took turns chasing after, and by riding a scooter around for hours until he was red in the face. Gawd I love that kid. Great turnout too. Talked to a bunch of people who I haven't seen in a while, and even a few who only talk to me on Facebook - what a shock! hahahaha And it's always awkward when you see someone in person who just added you as a Friend, and they don't say a word to you -- how quickly can you say 'Delete'? ;-)
T.S.O.L. on Sat. - were you there? I wasn't, but everybody I talked to that was there said it was a great gig. I heard that Paolo and S.F.T. just killed it. I didn't go, of course, and not because it was at the Bunkhouse; I got no problem with the place, and it wasn't because of Civet, because those cunts just aren't worth the trouble of even making an effort to avoid, but I didn't go because of the Pulsar thing. Since I love the kid I'll spare him the indignity of airing our dirty laundry in public, but I will say this - I'm not the only one who thinks like this. Others are noticing, and they don't like it but Hey! What do I know, right? LOL
Yeah, nothing but shit talking going on here. I'm gonna go back to burning CD's into my music collection. People who come over to my house and see it or go through it are kind of impressed and shocked, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. :-) Support Local Music. Be More Than A Witness. Fuck Pay To Play Bullshit, and Plan on being at this gig on Saturday!
 It's a Wedding Party!!!
All that separated the Fools from the Cools was a 5 foot high chain link fence! hahahaha I'll leave it to you to figure out which side was which. ;-)
It was while walking around downtown Friday night that I decided on really having nothing to do with this PRB fiasco. It was while watching them set up the stage in the middle of a parking lot and at the El Cortez watching the Sheep trying to get their tickets in the Fiesta Room that I realized how absurd this all was. Here you had a supposedly rebellion oriented little sub-culture of independent free thinkers all looking the same and acting the same and being nice and organized and obeying the rules and conforming to whatever was asked of them, all just to see some bands from hundreds of yards away and to be confined in a little corral like space where they willingly waited around for hours to be flocked and fleeced of everything and anything they had of value. Expensive bottled water? Check! Over priced beers? Check? $5 cover charge to use the GOOD bathrooms? Check! All that over priced liquid has to go somewhere, right? Right! Might as well make a buck or two off of it. There was no In's or Out's, no studded anything allowed in, stupid metal bleachers to sit on, all the band merch was visibly over priced, and that stupid Larry And His Flask band of attention whores was more than annoying with their playing everywhere they could around the event. Fucking dooshbag Scenester hippy acoustic Beard Core bullshit. I fucking hate it. Bite me. Yeah, the Descendents stole the event, and I heard good things about Cock Sparrer, but I thought the Singer was a bit "off" and the drummer was just boring and playing the songs without accents. Boooooo. N.J. Pete told me Stiff Little Fingers killed it, and he knows what's up, so I'll believe that. I didn't make it to any of the Club events, because I'm not a Tool, but I heard All was pretty good from Jeremy, who was drooling over Karl Alvarez all weekend like the sexy fan boy that he is, and Christian told me that Fishbone rocked it pretty good too. Heard nothing else about any of the club shows. Nothing. Oh well. The whole PRB thing was a giant clusterfuck anyways. I felt sorry if anyone paid to stand around in the parking lot and pose for pictures to post on Facebook of you and your friends looking stupid, when everyone knew that you could see everything just fine from various places around the place, like the Motel 8, or the El Cortez parking lot, or even just by standing on the sidewalk. Shit, people were giving away tickets, and the scalpers were selling them below face value. I guess that's what happens when you over sell all the events by 30%, because you anticipate people buying the tickets and not using them. Yeah, the huge battle I was anticipating didn't break out between the Crusty Punx and the Skinheads on the last day, but oh well. I guess that means Punk Rock Bowling will be back next year to fleece the sheep of Las Vegas and I, as always, will be on the outside looking in. Yup. Thanks to Monica and Rebecca for making me miss the gigs. LOL
The gig with the Loud Pipes on Saturday was a hollow victory at best. Beard Core was in full effect with the opening bands all sitting around playing acoustic guitars and singing Bob Dylan hippy shit while throwing in the occasional Punk band cover. Yeah, because I need to hear what Fuck Armageddon, This Is Hell by Bad Religion sounds like slowed down and acoustic. What the fucking fuck is wrong with people nowadays?? I might have to declare war on Beard Core, because this shit is getting out of hand. By the time we played, people were just dying to hear SOMETHING good, and we gave it to them, of course, even though we got out-shined by Rawkmom's band, who I think are called Lazer Wolf. Pretty fucking impressive they were. It was a good night. Thanks to Bree for all the jokes. How was that drumming again? :-)
The Vegascendents gig on Monday was CRAZY! I've never seen the LVCS so fucking full of people. They got rid of the Bull (awwwwww) and have more than 2 bartenders working there now, making getting a drink a breeze. The legal capacity for the place is 700, and the staff there said there was close to a thousand people there for Cock Sparrer the night before. Crazy. Anyways, we played pretty good and got a great crowd reaction from everyone, which was both weird and nice. I still don't understand the 'Covers' thing, but apparently a lot of people do, because by the time Punk Rock Karaoke got on stage, the place was primed and ready to go off. Who knew that the appeal of seeing drunken people warble along to and forget the words to songs that should be burned into their brains from years of overplaying was such a draw? LOL I mean seriously, how do you flub the 'Hey! Ho! Let's Go!' intro to Blitzkrieg Bop? hahahahaha Well, some guy did, and there were plenty other mistakes made, but who cares? It was all in good fun. Some people did good though, like that chick who sang Sonic Reducer without a lyric sheet! Dick Lucas from the Sub/Hum/Ans snarled his way through New Rose by the Damned. Shawn Stern totally flubbed Amoeba, and Amy Carrelli nailed it when doing Cherry Bomb by the Runaways without a lyric sheet! Like I said, it was a fun way to end an epic 4 or 5 day run of drunken, drugged out debauchery with Punk Rock Bowling as the background to it all. Thanks to Michaela for making me miss everything and nothing. :-)
There was no way I'm gonna make it to Guitar Wolf tonight. No fucking way. Like most people, it's gonna take me days to recover from this, so I'm gonna go pop some pills and go get some rest. Hibernation time, I believe it's called. Later.
It's not that I don't have anything to say - believe me, the stuff I know about and the Rumors I've been hearing are some very salacious stuff - but I'm just busy as fuck with little to no time to just sit on the ol' computer and pontificate. I got the Loud Pipes gig @ the Double Down on Fri., and then the Vegascendents were asked to play the final PRB gig on Monday night at the LVCS with that Punk Rock Karaoke band thing, so I gotta practice hard to look sharp at both of the gigs. The gig @ the Divebar was pretty fun, with a dedicated contingent of rowdy drunks mucking about and having fun while we were playing. I'll post some video from that night later on. Right now, I gotta get the Emerald mansion ready for tonight's performance. I'm hoping that there will be no interruptions! ;-)
For you Spies out there, with little to no reading comprehension, I would just like to inform you that Seattle was a blast! I totally didn't wanna come back. Seriously. But I guess I had to. Right?I had this glowing CD review written up about this new Local band, who feature a Friend of mine, and while looking up who the other members are, I thought that I saw that one of them was a member of a band that I can't stand, a band that I don't support in any way, shape and form, and a band who's members I will not support in any project that they're a part of. Morals? Beliefs? Values? Standards? Me? Yeah, I know. Shocks me too sometimes, but some things will never be forgotten. God Forgives. I don't. So I asked my Friend is it was the same person, and he confirmed that it was, and I reluctantly had to tell him I couldn't support his band. He asked why, and I told him, and he told me to stop being a Fag about it, but I didn't relent in the least bit, and after a while he said he respected my decision and we left it at that. No harsh words, no antipathy, nothing. Imagine that. And, as if to rub salt into my wounds, my Friend told me that their songs sound even better live. Fuck. Sometimes it's hard sticking to your guns. Sometimes. ;-)I got this letter a while back, but just decided to post it up right now.
From: xxxxxxXXxxxxxx [mailto:xxxxxxx@hotmail.com] Sent: Friday, April 29, 2011 2:12 PM To: ge138 Subject: SPORTS SUCK!!!!
HEY ASSHOLE!! QUIT TALKING ABOUT SPORTS. SPORTS SUCK!!!! JOCKS SUCK MY PUNK ROCK DICK!!! GO BACK TO TALKING SHIT ABOUT SHITTY BANDS LIKE YOU USED TO. SPORTS ARENT PUNK!!! SPORTS IS BORING. FUCK YOU!!!!! I'm guessing by all over usage of exclamation points that "They mean it, maaaaaaaan!" LOL Look, I get this all the time, every time, same time every year. I adore pontificating on my beloved San Jose Sharks and Oakland Raiders, and if you don't like it go read punksinvegas or something. The sports talk here only stops when my Teams aren't playing! And on that note: Fuck You Vancouver!! And speaking of punksinvegas, they were lucky enough to host the World debut of a new song by the new band Deadhand, which is just Lydia Vance without the emo guitar player whatshisname in it. I've been fortunate enough to hear Deadhand rehearsing their songs, and once I even slid my TASCAM recorder under their door and recorded their set. LOL Came out pretty good too! One of the songs I recorded, Prehistoric, is featured on the bands Pure Volume page, so just click here to check it out yourself if you haven't already and see just how fucking face melting Deadhand's music is. To say that I'm hyped on this is a huge understatement. Check out both songs on both websites and revel in the greatness that is Deadhand. :-) For those of you who give a shit about PRB, Killing Joke has cancelled their Tour and will not be playing their Monday slot at PRB. Agnostic Front will be filling in for them, but save yourself the trouble and just go see them @ the Cheyenne Saloon when they play there in September. And speaking of bands not playing, Instinct Of Survival were denied entrance by the Dept. of Homeland Security into the U.S.A., based on their smelly dreads and lengthy criminal records. That sucks! I was looking forward to their gig next week @ Yayo Taco. BoooooooooooIt was 10 years ago today that we lost The Man, The Myth, The Legend, that will forever be known as Ronnie James Dio. \m/(*_*)\m/ Booooooooooooo. Such a cool little guy. The Voice may be gone but it will be heard forever and never, ever forgotten. OK, I think I've blabbered on long enough, and come pretty damn close to recreating what I wrote last night before the Weebly Monster decided to eat everything that I had wrote. Everything is updated. I added a shitload of shows to the Gig Calendar page, including the Loud Pipes gig @ the Double Down next week. Guttural Secrete are playing @ Yayo Taco tomorrow, and then this is happening Friday @ the Divebar. Yeah, I know. Yeah, Vegascendents / S.F.T. / I.D.F.I. are gonna be playing some tunes and drinking some brews and keeping the air full of the kind smoke. Stop on by and listen to some Punk Rock tuneage played as only we can. ;-) See ya there.
I had this HUGE update posted, hyper-linked and everything, and when I hit the button to post it, nothing showed up. I tried to go back to a previously saved version of it, and that was gone too. FUCK!!! I'm going to sleep. I'll re-write it in the afternoon when I wake up.
My head hurts. I mean, really hurts. My back too. I can hardly move or lift my arms, and there isn't a sink in my house that doesn't have vomit in it. I've been pissing blood for 7 days now and I really don't care. These past few days have been soooooooo worth it, and to end it yesterday at Casa de Amoroso, sitting poolside amongst Friends and Family, was just the perfect ending for a good run of days. A really, good run of days. :-)
Bad Brains gig? Rats. I was gonna go, I really was. I was on the Guest List and everything (Thanks Tyson!), but I had Loud Pipes practice, so I decided to play music with my friends as opposed to watching my friends play music. Once I was finished practicing, I was in no condition to go to the gig so I decided to head home and watch Game 4. We killed them 6-3. :-) I only ran into 3 people who said the Bad Brains were good. Everyone else said they sucked, or that it wasn't worth the $35 to get in. I don't blame them. Last time I saw the Bad Brains it cost me $15 to get in, and they were opening up for the Ramones at the Hollywood Palladium.
The Manic Hispanic / Loud Pipes gig on Friday was in-fucking-amazing! LOL Whoever said that Diablo's sucked needs to be kicked in the vaa-jay-jay. That place was rad! It was weird being treated like Kings, with an endless supply of Food and Booze being foisted upon us, but I got used to it after like 2 or 3 minutes or so. ;-) Great to see so many Friends there, and weird not seeing Hank or the Captain there when we played. Shame on you 2! Manic Hispanic were fantastic, playing a great mix of the Classics (Big Heinas, Uncle Chato's Garden, Wasted, Rudy Cholo) and some unreleased songs I haven't heard them play in years, covers of songs from bands like the Bad Brains and the Ramones. Just an incredible set from them, as usual. They deliver nothing less each and every time they play. It was great seeing Gabby up on stage with the band. Almost didn't think I'd ever see that again. Afterwards it was off to Viva were, well, let me put it this way. I have never seen such a massive gathering of Mediocrity, Lameness and Douchebaggery in my Life. Just areas full of Tools and Sheep and Poseurs, all trying to out Happy Days each other. Ghey. I had to see it to verify it myself, but Viva sucks. It's just pathetic now. Gawd Damn. What happened to that thing?
Sat. had me heading up the mountain to converse with the Tibetan Monks to be told what a bad person I am, all after getting virtually no sleep the night before. I tried going to the Car Show at Viva, but after nearly having a heart attack at how much they wanted to get in there, I passed on checking it out. Elvira was there giving away autographed head shots, but I was waaaaay too drunk/hungover to be standing in a 5 mile long line to get one of those, so I left. I spent the best part of the afternoon with a friend at the bar she works at, drinking beers and eating pizza, having girl talk and gossiping. :-) I went home to watch the Sharks game, fully planning on going to the Anti-Viva gig @ Meathead's right afterwords, but I passed out in the middle of the first period. Good thing too, as we got slaughtered by the Kings. SLAUGHTERED. Glad I missed it.
Easter Sunday I woke up mid-afternoon and raced down to Jesse and Roxie's to partake in Birthday celebrations for one of my favorite people, Miss Roxie. Walking into a home filled with Friends and Family was just the cure I needed for my mental and physical recovery. Beer and Cake are one of the best combinations EVER!. That's one of the many things Roxie and I have bonded with over the years, and spending the day with her and everyone else was just the perfect ending to a great run of mind numbing, physically draining, drunken, drugged out debauchery. I also heard the new Pigasus recordings (wowsers!) while I was there and heard of the new Unfair Fight recording. Both are guaranteed to blow minds. Gawd damn it's gonna be a great year. :-)
Everything's updated. Game 6 is about to begin, and my phone is blowing up with shit talking Kings fans. I'm hoping that the Sharks can wrap this up so we can move on to Round 2. I'm not too optimistic that's gonna happen, but I remain forever optimistic. GO SHARKS!!
