hahahahaaha Yeah, I felt the urge to comment on this craptacular band after I saw that a few of my friends have been watching some new video that they just did. I checked the video out myself and I haven't stopped laughing ever since! First off, the Alamo hasn't looked better. I'm surprised they were able to find 10 people to be in the video with the band, and all the video seems to be is like an excuse for that front woman person to spread her germs by making out with everyone in the room, both guy and girl. The music is horrible, and the songs main riff is a thinly disguised NOFX rip off, right down to the effect used on the guitar that gives it that sound. Didn't this band once rip off the riff to Motley Crue's Kick Start My Heart, or am I confusing them with some other Local idiot douchebags? Oh well. Some bands just truly don't care, do they? I was watching this video with my friend's daughter in the room with me, and even she could see that what she was watching was truly, truly lame. She' s only 9 years old and here's what she had to say while viewing it and I assure you, this was completely unprovoked or prompted of her in any way, shape or form:

They look like the type of band who thinks that they're good, but they're really not.

Hahahahahahahaha oh gawd! The brilliance of children! <3 If even she can see what a joke that band is, then why the fuck do some of my friends, who play in bands and who's musical opinions I kind of value, even get behind them or support them in any way, shape or form? Just like Facebook, apparently some of you don't have a 'dislike' button about bands, or either that or you're too chickenshit to tell a band that they suck. Excuse me, let me correct that - you're too chickenshit to tell a band that they suck to their faces. More than a few of you have told me what you think about bands here in town, and I'm not gonna throw anyone under the bus, believe me, but sometimes, just sometimes, I wish you would go public with what you think. Don't be scurred! ;-) Having an opinion is not a bad thing! LOL What's the worst that could happen anyways? They don't talk to you anymore? Boo fucking Hoo. Oh well. Whatever. Nevermind. Just my opinion and what do I know anyways, right? Right! But remember this: to live as a coward is no way to live. ;-)

Captain Beefheart passed away last week, and that's all I have to say about that. I was not a fan of the man, but I know a lot of people were, and to them I say, 'Splain Please, because I just don't get it. I've been watching the videos you've been posting up, and I again, just don't get it. Sorry. I know a lot of bands were influenced by him, but all I'm hearing is the stuff my Dad used to listen to, and that's not really a good thing... hee hee hee

And for those of you who were concerned about them, the band Paramore is NOT breaking up. What's happening is that all the band members except for the singer are leaving. Apparently they all finally woke up one day and could no longer face the shame that comes with being in that band and they could no longer perpetrate the myth that their music had any redeeming qualities whatsoever. Now if only some Local bands could get that concept into their head, we might have a thriving new scene here, flourishing with new musical collaborations and ideas being spread around freely, instead of bands flogging a dead horse and carrying all that excess luggage and baggage and monkeys on their backs. It's almost 2011 - we need some new bands here in town to kick shit up and keep the younger bands from sitting on their laurels! Out with the Old, and in with the New and remember, this is all coming from a guy who plays Loud Pipes reunion gigs every 6 or 7 years, so take it all with a grain of salt... hee hee hee

So, was it the Christmas booze, or the stress of the Holidays that caused all the fighting at the gigs this past weekend? Booooooooooo to whatever it was that was causing it. Macho insecurity? Mommy issues? Little dicks? Get over it man. Fighting at gigs is sooooooooooooo 1987 and nothing to take pride in.

Enough of the negativity! It's fucking Christmas time! The Raiders are still in the hunt for a playoff berth, and the Sharks are infuriating but I don't care. Everything is awesome, and I have the best friends EVER! Let's all be of good cheer and wish Xtal a Happy Birthday, which I believe happened on yesterday. Thank Allah for those Facebook notifications, huh? LOL She's gotta be pushing 23 by now, and I think it's all the guys like Hollywood Shane who used to stalk her on the Tag Board that keep her on her toes and looking so good! hahaaha Happy Birthday Xtal! I owe you a round or 2 or 3! Anyways, Merry Christmas to you all, and enjoy your Holiday. Everything is updated. All sorts of cool gigs added to the page, like the Motörhead one, and the Malevolent Creation one, which should be very, very interesting to see. My Christmas shopping is done. All of my gifts have been wrapped. I'm heading Home, with a carload of gifts for my Family. Happy Holidays everyone! See you when I get back.

Weird Scenes Inside The Gold Mine...

Am I going crazy? The answer is yes.

I find it harder to write as of late, knowing what I want to say, and what I'm eventually going to say, are two completely different entities. What started out as some sort of fanboy fanzine about a scene that I had just moved into (Vegas had a lot more websites dedicated to it's music scene than it does now... *sigh*), and as a way to let my friends and family back home in CA. know what I'm up to here in Vegas, has morphed into this be all/end all source of what's going on or what's "cool" here in town and the #1 place to talk shit, and as the best source ever for local Las Vegas band drama. I find it harder to put out what I really want to say, having to censor myself or shape thoughts and images into interesting views for public consumption. I could give two shits less about what anybody thinks, and I think I've strayed from that for a bit. Not really, but you get my point hopefully. Weird people read these words. I'm not sure why. But from now on, I'm just gonna put it out there, make it more blog-like, trying to post something everyday and put into hard forms what's basically going on in Tag Board and Myspace land. I think that's what people come here for, something to read. Why not give it to them? I think the writers block is over. so let's make the most of it. The video game distraction is gone. I'm seeing things a lot clearer now than ever before. 2007 is one-quarter of the way over. I got way too much stuff to do, and too many people to do it with. I'm hoping this works. It's a good plan anyways. Best of intentions and all that. Wish me luck.

I'm still not sure what's going on with Last Shot Tattoo. I heard it was canceling all shows after some fighting or bullshit that went down @ Friday's 1/2 Ast / False Cause / S.S. Hookers (thanx Sal !) gig. A few bands here in town say no shows are cancelled, a few bands say shows are cancelled. I don't care one way or the other. I would of done the good reporter thing and just called down there and asked what's up myself, or dropped them a line on their Myspace page (which can be found here), but I'm a lazy sod. so I didn't. Hope things work out for the place. I won't go there unless I have to, but lots of kids do go there, so it does serve a purpose... somewhat.

Is everyone through with picking on The Objex / Joe Perv ? Have we given him enough Haterade to fuel his monster faces for another year ? Hope so. Let them play The Rainbow and The Slanted Clam to the coked out underage bar scene they so desperately want to be a part of (Maulus Clothing... ugh !) and be happy.

I did this thing on Myspace yesterday where I highlighted a band that had requested to be my friend on there. If you're on my Friend's List you got the bulletin. That band was Leroy, and you can click here to see what him and his band are all about. Don't know why I did it, but I'm hoping to do it more.

Idle Gossip page has been updated, as well as the Links page. Calendar page is updated daily, and I'm working on an idea for turning the Downloads page into this Vegas based band history kind of thing, highlighting demos and obscure stuff from long forgotten heroes of old. I have a shitload of demos, and I'm sure I could get my hands on a lot more. All you old guys with shoe boxes full of long forgotten demo tapes get a hold of me pronto. I'm really thinking I'm gonna do it.

What's happening with Infestshit ? Good question. I have no idea. I could speculate, but I won't. Those kids got enough problems as it is... hahhahaha. Just kidding. I love them all. And me and George have been working with a guitarist as of late who has passed the rigorous standards we have presented every guitar player with, that is, the ability to count to 4 and the ability to show up to practice on time. Justin does both very well, and has a job and his own equipment. You'd be surprised at how many guitar players here in town have no equipment to call their own, heh heh heh. In other words, he's an anomaly as far as the world of guitarists are concerned. Hee hee hee Look for demo stuff coming very very soon. You have been warned.

Where do I begin? At the beginning, of course...

I remember once having a conversation with my (then) Web Sensei Miss Roxie, and she mentioned something about how my website was like The National Enquirer of the Las Vegas punk scene, and we laughed and grabbed another beer and moved on. This whole Joe Perv thing that's going on has me thinking about that particular incident. Look, the "beauty" of this website is the anonymity factor involved. Anybody can go on that Tag Board to the left of these words and say WHATEVER the fuck they want to say. Many's the time I've gotten emails and phone calls begging me to take stuff off of there (you people know who you are), or yelling at me, saying things like how could I let that be put up there, or how come I didn't delete it, stuff like that. I'm not Big Brother. I'm not the Censor Police. Don't come on here and say little things like your band sucks, or say I saw so and so down on Fremont sucking cock for crack, or so and so's a faggot or stuff like that, and then get all butt hurt when someone does it back to you. That's not fair. Play nicely or don't play at all. We all pretty much know each other in real life. We can all laugh about what goes on here, right? Hope so.

Now to address the Joe Perv situation. Look. I know the guy. I think we're about the same age. He does his thing, I do mine. If somebody else has a problem with him, that's between him and them. If Joe Perv has a problem with me, he knows who I am, and he knows what I look like. Talk to me anytime guy. If that really was Dylan Perv who posted that on the Tag Board (what's up dude?), I think he summed it up a Hell of a lot better than I ever could. Joe Perv's band reeks of desperation. And, just so you all know, The Objex won't be playing The Exploited gig. Here is the reason why. They were acting like Rockstars and Brian Saliba told them to take a hike. There's some more dirt for ya, the best paparazzi a growing band could have. Enjoy. My information comes straight from the source, but spin it any way you see fit. It's all fun and games until someone gets butt hurt, right? Anyways, Guilty By Association will be taking The Objex place on the bill. Who wants to bet me on how many D.I. covers Guilty By Association are gonna play. I say 2...hee hee hee

Speaking of D.I., here's the Show Review of the gig. Pictures can be found to the right. I think it's a bit of a dry read, but it wasn't a good day for me, and to try to tell you I was hyped on things afterwords would be an exercise in futility, so I don't insult your intelligence or mine by saying otherwise. I present things in a matter of fact style. Phooey. The highlight of the day was Sin of course (<3), but finally meeting Zombalina (wowsers) and seeing Paul make a total bender out of himself was definitely funny... embarrassing, but funny.

You ever have one of those dreams where everything makes sense, all is good, and right about the time that you realize that all your problems could be solved if you just paid attention to what was going on, or to the circumstances around you or even to what was being said, then BLAMMO! You forget what the solution was, you forget what was being said, you forget the circumstances you found yourself in. Yeah, me too. Don't you hate it when that happens?

Happy Birthday to my Buddy and Secret Plaything Pitt. He's like a butt brother to me, and I'm sorry that I missed you when you were here compadre. I can't explain the overwhelming feeling of dread that washed over me while getting prepared to attend that Bronx gig. I hate the Double Down but it's cool when me and you go there late at night and drink and talk, as long as it's about ANYTHING but Guns N Roses... heh heh. Happy Birthday Homo. I love you.

Lots of Vegas bands doing stuff. Playing gigs, both locally and out of state, recording lots of new demos, taking pictures of themselves @ their drunken bar shows...I'm hyped on all of it. The problem is, none of the bands I'm in are doing any of that...heh heh. Someone tell me what's going on? Did I miss a Memo or something? I'm loving the Back Stabbath tunes, the Vulcans demo is amazing, The Mapes make me laugh every time one of their songs comes up in my rotation, Dirty Panties music is OK, and even the Swenson Street Hookers stuff is good in small doses. Summer is right around the corner and I have only 2 words to say ~ Desert Shows. Let's make this shit happen! Who's down?

I jumped the gun a bit about The Exploited thing. The show is on. British Invasion Tour 2007, here in Vegas. I was just sick of negotiating with "their people" and let Brian handle it after a bit. I just didn't give a fuck after a while. That's why he's the Brains of Doomsday Productions. He worked his ass off to make the show happen and bring it to Vegas, and all thanks go to him. Well, him and The Objex. Why The Objex, you ask? Well, that's because they were stupid (or desperate) enough to actually PAY to be on the bill. Yup. Pay To Pay is alive and well and living in Las Vegas, and bands like The Objex further perpetrate the fraud by their participation in the scam. Shame on them.

Music Reviews coming up, Calendar page is updated, San Jose is in a slump, and I'm lost in video game land. I like going to shows. Are there any good ones coming up? Besides the ones Infestshit are playing? :-) Just because a show is on my Gig Calendar doesn't mean that I would go to it. It's more of a courtesy to my friends and whatnot. Speaking of friends, see you all @ the D.I. show this Saturday. It's an early matinee show (remember when Matinee shows would happen @ The Huntridge Theatre? Neither do I.), so either stay up all night drinking and go to the show, or wake up early and start drinking before the show. Special Brew for breakfast... mmmmmmmmmmmm. And then there's the after party @ Sin's house. Moonpies and Strawberry Shortcakes for all. Holy Fuck. Somebody save me...
