I know... I know. Great color, amazeball graphic, and it was in my size too! <3 I will be sporting this shirt loudly and proudly at all gay themed events I attend and all during the upcoming summer months, because sometimes it's good to wear a color other than black. Only sometimes though. ;-) Yeah, the fucking Battle Born EP release party was pretty fantastic. Just a great vibe in the place, no Drama whatsoever, and every band that played was really good. Battle Born just killed it. Killed it! I fucking Love those guys! TheCore almost stole the show, Surrounded By Thieves played a great set, and The Fact Remains were pretty good. I dug 'em. I wrote this huge ass diatribe on here about the gig, but I'm gonna make it a Show Review instead, so as soon as I get the pix edited from the night I'll post it up here. It was a cool gig, and if you weren't there you blew it. Make up for that by going to the band's Facebook page by clicking here and buy a copy of their CD if you don't already have one. Oh, and Friend them too while you're there. Their new CD is the tits, that's all I'm saying. Oh, how I love it when bands who have lost any and all credibility and burned every bridge they possibly could here in this town try to get back together and play some gigs, like anyone gives a fuck about them. Either they can't find new people to play with them in these reunion gigs, or they just book gigs and then cancel at the last minute, which is just pathetic. Do us all a favor, you worthless piece of shit pathetic bands - quit trying to relive your 'glory days', just because your Life is a giant clusterfuck full of disappointment and regrets, you losers you. Go back to abusing the welfare system and polluting the gene pool with your retarded offspring. And take your 'Friends' with you. You should all go fuck off and die together. The Seriouslys played Favorite's on Friday, and they didn't get paid, which royally sucks ass. Considering that the fine people booking that place are the same people who used to book the Divebar, this little bit of non-payment shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who's been involved with the music scene here. I hope they make this right and pay the bands what they're due. It would be a bad thing for them not to. It's not like Favorites is drawing them in ya know. Alienating the Bands you rely on to get people into your establishment is never a good thing to do. Everything is updated. I think I'm gonna go outside for awhile. :-)
I cannot stress enough the awesomeness of this upcoming Battle Born EP release thing happening tomorrow night @ the Bunkhouse. Besides the raison de se réjouir Battle Born, TheCore are also playing, and I haven't seen them play in years it seems. I hope they play some of that new stuff that Sal let me hear that one night at the Double Clown. It sounded great to me, and I'm sure it will to everyone else who hears it. And Surrounded by Thieves are playing as well, and I'm gonna try to be inside, as opposed to outside, as I apparently am every time the band plays, or whatever it was they were making fun of me for that last time at the Motor City Cafe... LOL It's gonna be a funtastic night to say the least. I may have to pass out in my car for this one. ;-)
Tonight there's a couple of interesting things going on, with the first being this Double Down Radio Mother's Day contest for something, I dunno. I know some pretty rad Punk Rock Moms, but I don;t know if any of them would want to do whatever it takes to win the White Trash Sash but hey - you never know! ;-)
And then after that, head on over to the Bunkhouse to be a part of the Zombie Prom 2012 which, I can tell you from past experiences, is always a fun time - guaranteed. The Fabulous Sin City Roller Girls know how to throw a party, and this one tonight is going to be a rager! Get your ass there and have some fun! There's a discount for Zombies so come prepared.

If you ask me, the only place to be is the Bar & Bistro for Bobby Frank's Birthday get together, but I'm a little biased in that appraisal. :-)

Dudes! It's Super Bowl Sunday morning, and I could give 2 shits less about the game than ever. No Raiders = No Interest for me. I don't know jack shit about the Giants, and I fucking hate the New England Gaytriots, which is the only reason why I'd like to see New York win. No, today for me is all about the get together, the excuse to party with Friends both old and new and the Family members I hold near and dear here in Las Vegas. I'm sure I'll be texting away with my Family back Home on the Rez, but that's another story for another time. ;-) The celebration starts @ 3 pm. Casa de Amoroso. if you don't know then too bad for you.
After the Game, if you can avoid the D.U.I. checkpoints that will be up everywhere all around the city, head downtown to the Bunkhouse to see Banner Pilot with Deadhand, TheCore, Holding On To Sound and Murder Majesty, if ya can believe that. Yeah, apparently they're still a band and yeah, Pulsar gave them the slot on the bill instead of my band. Phooey. Anyways, it should be a good gig and you shouldn't miss it, although being too drunk and wasted to make it down there is perfectly acceptable. It is Super Bowl Sunday after all... heh heh
The Bronx are playing a Special 'Invite Only' gig next week and you can't go. I'm just saying... ;-)

I know! A new Mapes song! And it rules!! ha ha ha It's worth watching just to see Haywood J. putting his mouth around a beer can and guzzling it down with no hands involved! LOL Now that's Sexy times 12! ;-) Oh man, Friday night was sooooooooo much fun. Yeah, I know everyone and their Mom went to that Adolescents / Youth Brigade / Vermin gig @ LVCS (sheep), and I heard it was a pretty OK show (what was up with TheCore cancelling?) but the gig @ the Arts Factory had better bands and a record swap meet, with lots of crates and boxes full of colored vinyl goodness! I was in Heaven!! ha ha ha I easily blew hundreds of dollars stocking up my vinyl collection with stuff I used to have and stuff that I never had before. F-U-N. Phooey to the elitist record collecting scum dogs who wouldn't take my money for their records. I lost out on a few choice pieces of vinyl because of it, but that's OK because it was their loss. :-) All the Bands that played were cool. Vanish Twin from AZ. were easily the highlight of the night, playing some twisted Neurosis type ambient noise grind-core shit. Here's a video of them doing a song called Looking For Flames. I stopped recording at the end of the video because I thought they went into a different song. ;-) They continued playing for like 3 minutes after I stopped filming... heh.
Yeah, I was just hanging out and walking around doing my thing and observing the happenings and goings ons and whatnot. Life's Torment kicked things off with a blistering set of Noise not Music that was just broooootal as fuck. Why don't these guys just pack the places they play in with fans going ape shit over their music is beyond me, but whatever. I'm all about catching small, intimate performances with little to no one there, as opposed to big HOB corrals full of automatons and sheeple. Lame. Watching Bob play drums is a trip, because he's a lefty, but his technique is destructive and he's got a good sense of timing and fills which is cool to watch. Larry looks like he's channeling demons when he plays his guitar and screams into the microphone, and Travis acts like he's being tortured and mutilated while he shreds the bass and screams along. Life's Torment are fucking Ace and they just get better and better every time I see them. They're pretty fucking sick and you should check them out each and every time you get the chance. If you like your Punk music chainsaw fast and just as delicate, then look no further than Life's Torment. They bring it each and every time. I posted the photos I took that night already, and they're over to the left of these words. ------------------------>
Speaking of checking things out, check out this thing that Fuzz, one time bartender extraordinaire at the Legendary Cooler Lounge (R.I.P.) has going on. It's a solo project called Fuzz So Low (get it?) with Fuzz playing guitar while accompanying himself on a kick drum and set of high hats. It was pretty cool stuff and it's always fun watching Fuzz kick out the jams. Kick out the jams... get it? Oh, the puns are flying fast and furious today! :-)
Fuzz So Low played inside, and everyone else played outside. Good Greens ( a total Sublime rip off band) played inside, and Spotted Dick And The Love Stew cancelled. Again. Do those guys just sign up to play gigs and then don't play them or something? LOL Sabertooth Snatch (from AZ.) played, and they were pretty good, in a Victim's Family kind of way. I don't think they went over too well with the majority of the crowd, either because they were a bit different then what Die Laughing and Life's Torment threw down, or because everyone was inside checking out the Record Swap Meet. Either or, not a lot of people were checking out Sabertooth Snatch, which was a shame because they were pretty good. Check them out for yourself and see.
_And last but not least is Die Laughing. They were pretty good but their set kind of just meshed into the Life's Torment set, because they played back to back from each other and they're basically the same band but with a different bass player. How Bob pulled that one off I'll never know. ;-) The music they play is kick ass though, so it makes it worth it. Their set was short but sweet, ending with a Black Flag cover that brought Travis from Life's Torment back on stage to handle lead vocals. Check out the video and see how well they did thrashing out Gimme Gimme Gimme. So yeah, there's my little video wrap up of everything that was going on at the Arts Factory last Friday night. It was a great time and if you weren't there, then you're lame. And if you were at that gig at the LVCS instead of this one, then you're stupid - real stupid. :-)
Yeah, I realize the irony in protesting censorship of the Internet by self-censoring myself ON the Internet, but still, pretty funny stuff. It's also funny how the news about the censorship of the Internet movement was spread via the Internet as well. Oh the delicious irony! The fact that some people out there optimistically believe that they have any say in what the Government is or isn't going to do is laughable to me, although this little censorship issue apparently caused 30 Senators and Congressmen to flip-flop on their position on this, so who knows? Maybe the People can have a say in what goes on in their Government? Or maybe this is feeding the masses just enough to keep them from starving. Giving the dog a bone. Whatever. I thought it was interesting. I participated. The End.

I don't know if you saw the flyer on your way in here, but there is this pretty fun looking gig happening this Friday at the LVCS: Adolescents / Youth Brigade / The Vermin / TheCore It should be interesting, to say the least. I haven't seen either headlining band in a while, so hearing them running through their 'Greatest Hits set seems like a pretty good way to cap off a Friday night. My Friday night is going to start at the Hellpop Record Swap Meet, where I'm gonna have a grip of cash to buy records with, and if I'm not too busy drooling over some pretty colored vinyl, I might check out some of the bands that are playing, which includes Life's Torment, Die Laughing and, of course, The Mapes. <3 There's some new band playing that's composed of members of 1/2 Ast, but those guys don't like me anymore, so phooey to them. Check them out if you're there though.
Speaking of things you should check out if you're so inclined, tonight @ the Double Down Deadhand are playing some AVN kickoff party or some shit. They're playing with some shitty bands that aren't worth mentioning, bands that think that sexual gimmicks and sloppy blow jobs will allow them to 'make it', whatever that means. The sad part is that some of my Friends like them... Jeesh! hahaha Whatever, go check out Deadhand tonight - you will not be disappointed, unless they decide to play some of their shitty acoustic covers they've been doing as of late for that other 'Punk Rock' website here in town. Acoustic guitars are NOT Punk Rock. Neither are beards, for that matter. Get over it already. Seriously.
 _Oh, Saturday night this band called Thousand Watt Stare is playing at the Bikini Bar. I'm told they're pretty good and that I might like them, but again, they're playing with some shitty band that's not worth supporting and because of that, I'll be staying at home. Man, I wish these people in these bands would just go away. You can't talk shit about people, run away without paying what you owed them, burning all your bridges in this town and then move away and then come back after a few years and just act like everything is OK and all is forgotten and forgiven. Just because you found new people to believe your bullshit doesn't mean that you're the 'Cool Guy' that those ignorant few think you are. Well, it's either that or maybe I'm just an asshole, I dunno... heh heh Bikini Bar is a cool place, and if you got nothing better to do on Saturday then stop by and check out Thousand Watt Stare and tell me how they were. :-)
Sunday! Sunday!! Sunday!!! Old School Metal comes to the House of Boooooo's when Anthrax, Testament and Death Angel tear shit up there. I've seen all 3 of those bands many, many times before and if I'm feeling all nostalgic I may just stop by and see how well they've aged. Anthrax's new album Worship Music is pretty good, so I may go just to hear how new songs like Fight 'Em Till You Can't and The Devil You Know sound live. And, to watch Charlie Benante play drums. <3

OK, it's not like that there's nothing going on in the Scene, right? ;-) Here's the problem - there's too much going on! I'm completely suckered back into the whole Red Dead Redemption thing, and the new Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 comes out today. As soon as I'm done typing this up I'm heading to Game Stop to grab me a copy, and you probably won't see me for about a month! LOL I'm on one of the luckiest streaks ever with the Females in my Life, and I got this gig with the Vegascendents for some Punk Rock Bowling after party thing in Oxnard ( Nardcore!) coming up that has me pretty preoccupied, so with all that going on, I just don't have to urge to see Gigs as much as I should. I missed the Deadhand / TheCore gig this past weekend as well as some house party that the Civilians played on Sunday. Sorry guys. Plus, it's pretty nauseating when Local bands announce that they're ' Playing their 2nd release in it's entirety" like they're fucking Slayer or something. Get a clue Egomaniacs - nobody gives a shit if you play your first, second, third fourth or fifth release in it's entirety because if it was any good, if it really was a Classic release that deserved to be heard in it's entirety, like Rain In Blood or Sailing The Seas Of Cheese or Three Imaginary Boys, you guys WOULD be Slayer at this point in your musical career, but you're not. Sorry. Don't quit your day job. And nobody's impressed that you're opening for the big bands at the Joint either. What did that do for you the last time you opened for that same band? Oh, that's right - NOTHING! Fucking Tools. No wonder whenever I mention that your band is playing a gig people give me that funny look, like they just smelled a dirty diaper full of shit. He's probably drunk, sipping on his Scotch and smoking those stinky cigars of his, laughing and carrying on like the cool guy he was, like when HE gave a couple of Punx from L.A. a chance at establishing HIS bar as a viable option for bands to play at, against the better wishes of his partner who said that Bands would never work there, and did his damnedest to make sure they wouldn't. :-) Yeah... someday... Monster Zero is playing Fri. @ the Motor City Cafe, and go see the Naked City Romeos on Sat. there too because they're all sexy beasts and they play some kick ass Punk Rock music. And BTW, that Cunt Sparrer thing is a fucking joke. After that Turbonegra fiasco I watched one time, I'm convinced that chicks just can't play that aggressive, hard Punk music. Nope. If it was a bunch of guys playing crappy Cock Sparrer covers, no one would give a shit, but since it's a bunch of girls playing crappy Cock Sparrer covers, everyone here acts like it's the Second Coming or something. Homophobia, Racism, Band Drama, House Parties, going to Gigs (even if it's only for a few minutes), and all sorts of shit I can't remember right now even if I wanted to. I'm not even sure that I care to, to be quite honest. It's fucking First Friday, I got shit to do and people to see, it's cold and it's raining, and I'm gone. I am sooooooooo in Love with Deadhand right now that it's not even funny! <3 I finally saw them play last night @ Hypnotic Billiards (in the same shopping center as Tony's, which makes some of the bombest Mexican food in the City!) and it's almost 24 hours later and I can't stop thinking about what a great performance they put on! Hypnotic Billiards sucks as a venue, because the stage is almost dead set against the front of the circular bar, leaving pretty much the entire prime viewing area directly in front of the stage non useable, forcing everyone to watch from either the left or the right of the stage, and the room's a bit bright as well, sucking up all the bottom end and making everything sound a wee bit trebley, but as far as a viable option for bands to play in a City that sorely needs one, Hypnotic Billiards will work! LOL Plus it's All Ages as well, which is always a plus here in town. I got there just as Ministry Of Love started to play, because the gig MOL was playing before the Signals Midwest gig was running late, and they were sounding really good for the first half of their set, but then I think technical difficulties killed the momentum midway through. It was either that or it was the slower, mid paced songs that they played towards the end of their set. Either or, but Hey! What do I know, right. The kids dug them. That's all that matters. :-)
Signals Midwest were pretty good, with a drummer that was absolutely KILLING IT while the band played their energetic punky pop music!! I love watching good drummers and this guy was really, really good. The rest of the band were no slouches either, but the drummer was the Star. Seriously. I wish Signals Midwest would make Las Vegas a regular stop, because I'd definitely go check those guys out again. Good stuff. I've forgotten how great TheCore are, what with Sal and his whole 'Beardcore' thing keeping the band from playing as often as they should, but man, those guys haven't lost a thing since the last time I saw them play. Just fucking fantastic, although I think they played pretty much the same set as the last time I saw them. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, just saying. :-) They're one of my favorite Local bands and one of the bands I point out to others as a perfect example of what a good band is supposed to be like. I tried to take pictures but there were a couple of dooshy "professional photographer" types (1 of whom was Steve from punksinvegas.com... LOL) running around and getting in the way of my shots, so I just gave up and enjoyed the rest of their set from a distance. Soooooooo good TheCore are. :-) Oh, and did I mention that Deadhand were fucking AMAZING! hahaha Playing a great selection from their debut CD and a bunch of stuff they haven't even released yet, they were just fucking stellar and I seriously couldn't be prouder of Brendan. I've been with that kid through thick and thin, and with this latest release he's just beginning to hit his stride with his songwriting. Just fantastic stuff and they sounded sooooo good last night. I was gonna go to Saturday's Krum Bums / Dead Neon / Blatant / Toxic Holocaust gig, but I didn't have the $$$ to get in, and by the time Pulsar got back to me and said I would be on the Guest List, I had already made other plans. Sorry. I heard nothing about the gig though, if it was good or not. I'm sure it was though. I heard good things about that Hemlock / Klunk gig that happened @ the Cheyenne Saloon, which is cool. Hemlock has been around forever. Everyone in town has a Hemlock story, either good or bad, and who can forget those classic freeway off ramp wooden board gig announcements, huh? LOL Friday's birthday party for the Prince of Pinche Drummers was splendid. We didn't kill the keg because we were all concentrating on smoking ourselves retarded and shooting whiskey and chugging tequila! LOL There's Pictures of the night in the usual place, but the funny thing is, I don't remember taking or being in any of them! hahahaha Oh Tequila, how I Love thee!! <3Everything is updated. I don't know if I ever said anything about it on the website, but I'm back to playing drums in Youth Gone Mad, and we have a great gig block party thing going on this Sat. in Torrance, CA. with the Yeastie Boys, Million Kids, the Von Steins and a bunch of other cool bands. Yeah, not only am I a Drum Whore, but now I'm doing it in different states! LOL It's an All Day, All Ages extravaganza that is not to be missed! I'll be taking lots of photos, that's for sure! LOL And speaking of photos, the Hell Ride Music Festival posted a bunch of Pictures of the Vegascendents in action when we played there in Fullerton a while back, and you can go here to check them out on their Facebook page. Oh, and Monday, the Black Jetts and the Tinglerz are playing @ the Bunkhouse with Unko Atama from S.F., so yeah, like I said, it's gonna be a busy weekend - hope to see you all somewhere!
