It's 8 o'clock in the morning on a Monday, so what am I doing up? Oh, just waiting for Dean and Raf to come over in a few hours for an American Buckshot practice in the middle of the afternoon! LOL And if that wasn't bad enough, later on today I have to practice with Aluminum Falcon! ha ha ha Oh how did I ever get myself into this mess? Oh yeah, that's right - contrary to popular belief, I like to help my Friends out when I can, because they're my Friends and would probably do the same for me if I needed help with something like a taco plate or whatever. Notice I used the word 'probably'. ;-)

My BFF tells me she worries about me all the time. I don't know if I should console her or kill her. :-/

So how was that T.S.O.L. gig on Sat.? ha ha ha From what I heard it was pretty sweet. Nothing better than seeing a big ass band you'd usually pay lots of money to see in an intimate setting for absolutely free! And hearing about the fire extinguisher incident only reminded me of the infamous SIR T.S.O.L. riot in Hollywood many, many moons back. Google it. We had a fun time that night! LOL And I loved reading and hearing people carrying on about finding out about the gig 'on some website'. Fucking tools. You read that on THIS website, you know, the one nobody claims to read yet gets all sorts of hits each and every day! LOL It's OK to admit you read onethirtyeight.org. Seriously. It's better than the other pablum puke you get from other websites here in town supposedly covering the 'Punk' scene or music scene in general... heh heh I'm glad people had fun on Cinco de Mayo. Me? I went to a Moon Viewing party in GV where I think I pissed in a washing machine... ha ha ha ha Oh tequila - how I adore thee! XOXO

There was some other stuff I wanted to blabber on about, but I can't really think this early in the morning, so I'm gonna go pour another cup of coffee and prepare myself for the immediate tasks at hand today. 2 band practices a day. WTF was I thinking? ha ha ha It's gonna be a long ass day today. Hope I don't have to use my AK.  ;-)

Too soon? ;-)

Yeah, it's a fucking shame that MCA from the Beastie Boys passed away yesterday, hopefully forever ruining that whole 'May the 4th be with You' thing that Star Wars nerds usually carry on about on that day, but the way some people are pontificating about MCA's passing, you would think he was their favorite Uncle or something. I'm a huge fan, but Cancer ain't nothing to fuck with. There was a reason why he didn't attend the Beastie Boys Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction - which they don't belong in, BTW - it was because he couldn't attend. I only say the Beastie Boys don't belong in there because they're not a Rock And Roll band. That would be like the Ramones being inducted into the Rap And Hip Hop Hall Of Fame. Yup. The most recent pictures I could find of MCA were taken over 2 years ago, and he looked terrible then. I can only imagine what he looked like before he passed on.

Maybe it is better to die young? I dunno. Old age just fucking sucks ass, I swear to God. It's hard to believe that those 2 pictures are of the same person. It's a trip, that's for sure. I can't imagine what Sid Vicious would of looked like past the age of 40, but I can guarantee you that he wouldn't of done half of the great stuff MCA did while he was here on Earth. Yeah, MCA man, he was quite a cool character, that's for sure. The world will be a sorrier place without him. Godspeed Sir. Vaya con Dios. It's been nothing but Beastie Boys on a constant loop around my pad since I heard the news. What a fucking shame.

It's Cinco de Mayo, which really doesn't mean shit, and I'm not really sure it's a Holiday of any sorts, but any excuse to grill up some carne and drink some tequila is A-OK in my book! LOL There's a gig going on tonight @ the Arts Factory, but I don't think the Mapes are playing it, and I know for a fact that Pigasus isn't playing it, but all the other bands still are, and Vihan Rytmi has been added to the bill, so it should be a fun time. Yeah, Vihan Rytmi, that band that played their supposed "last gig ever" a while back, and who have played more gigs after announcing they were playing their last gig ever than they did before the announcement! hee hee hee I'm just breaking balls, because I really like Vihan Rytmi, so go out to the Arts Factory tonight and check out some cool bands and hang with some cool people and grab a free comic book from Hellpop! while you're there, because it's Free Comic Book Day and they're doing some cool deals and giveaways and Artist signings and shit, so stop by and take advantage man. Don't worry. You can still go to this gig and then go see T.S.O.L. @ the Double Clown later on that night. T.S.O.L. aren't playing until midnight. ;-) Oh wait, was I supposed to mention that? ;-)

If you didn't see it on the way in here, here's the flyer for the Amber Watson benefit gig going on tomorrow night @ the Bunkhouse.
Even if you can't stay for the entire event, just stop by for as long as you can and just soak it all in and surround yourself with Friends and maybe remind each other of what we mean in each others Lives, ya know? If you can contribute anything monetarily wise, that's great, but even if you can't, just come out anyways. Grab a PBR tall boy and smile and laugh and remember the good times while listening to some tunes. Amber would of wanted it that way.

I don't know if the Darkness have ever played Vegas before. If they did, I didn't see them. There was no way I was missing this, because it was just too perfect. A great chance to talk shit on a Friday night. ;-) The band has recently reformed with all original members, and they just released a new MP3 single / video for the song Nothing's Gonna Stop Us, which you can check out and download for free at the bands website www.theactualdarkness.com. The song was better live is all I'm gonna say. :-) But yeah, I hate going to 'concerts', and I hate the House of Boooooo's with a passion, but for the Darkness, I made the effort. And it was sooooo worth it. :-) They opened up with Black Shuck, and then they all changed guitars and basses, and went into Growing On Me, and I was done. They were soooooo fucking good! They had an annoying habit of changing all their guitars and basses in between every song, and only Givin' Up / Stuck In A Rut were played back to back without a guitar  and bass change. Whatever. When you're total Rockstars like the Darkness I guess you can do that. They played everything I wanted to hear, like Street Spirit (Fade Out), the Radiohead cover, and stuff from the 2nd album One Way Ticket To Hell... And Back, like the title song and Is It Just Me, and every great song off of Permission To Land. Beautiful. Justin's voice sounded incredible live and the band sounded fantastic. A Rock N Roll Machine. The best sounding early era AC/DC band crawling around the trenches today they are, and I had a great time. Except for the crowd. I wanted to kill every Tool and Dooshbag in the audience, including the big 6' 4" gay guy sporting a Ride The Lightning era Metallica shirt that I was standing behind who I kept spitting on, because he kept blocking my view. Every time he did I spit on him, and he didn't even notice. Whatever. The capper to all that is when he french kissed his little bearded boyfriend when the band played I Believe In A Thing Called Love. It was their song, and they totally waited all night to hear it. You could totally tell. They took Facebook arm extended pictures of themselves too. I was touched, and immediately headed for the exit... LOL I'm just kidding, but still, it was pretty ghey. I'm glad the Darkness have that appeal. We all need some Pomp, Bombast, and Theatrics in our Music, and the Darkness do all that and more for me. Yup. To commemorate the event I bought a tour shirt with a giant prawn on the front. Why a prawn? I have no idea. It looked cool, is all I can say... heh heh heh

I heard nothing but great things about all the gigs this past weekend - the Pixies tribute show, and the T.S.O.L. / Guilty By Association / Civilians gig. Civilians - you guys made a bunch of new fans - Congratulations! Fuck, it's such a cool time here in the Las Vegas Music Scene right now. Watching your Friends play gigs is fun, playing gigs is better, and playing gigs with your Friends is always the Best. Everything's updated. I gotta get back to the front room. :-)

Oh my fucking GAWD!! If this isn't enough to make you throw up whatever you had for breakfast or lunch today, then I don't know what is. I thought the thing had jumped the shark before, but now, not only has it jumped the shark while wearing flaming hot pink booty shorts, but it also crashed into Arnold's Chicken Wings shack after landing on the other side... heh heh heh
What a fucking farce! All these bands are more suited of playing the Double Down, Bunkhouse, or any other small club here in town, which most of them already have. Remember when Sham 69 played the Emergency Room a few years back? Probably not, because nobody was there. But now that they're playing a big festival, all the sheep in Vegas are baaaaa-ing about how awesome it is that Sham 69 is finally playing Vegas. Fucking tools. Just like how a few of the 'Cool Kids' here in town were crowing about that Bronx show at the Double Clown a few days ago. "The Bronx never play on a weekday in a small club." Really? Didn't I see the Bronx play at the Beauty Bar on a Weds. night just a few months ago? Whatever. I guess unless Sailor Jerry sponsors it, it doesn't happen. Fuck off. And I love that Old Man Markley is playing  PRB AGAIN. After Shawn Stern himself told a friend of mine that PRB doesn't let bands play the festival 2 years in a row, I can't help but laugh at his hypocrisy. Must be nice to be the Stern's fluff girls. ;-) Anyways, much like last year, I'm gonna be staying the fuck away from this public Fleecing of the Sheep.  "Plus more great bands to be announced." it says at the bottom of the line up. Me? I'm still waiting for 1 great band to be announced... heh

Tomorrow night I have a dilemma. Do I go see the Darkness @ the HOB, or do I go see T.S.O.L. @ the Bunkhouse? That Pixies tribute show @ the Royal Resort is also going on tomorrow night, but I was never that big of a fan of the Pixies, so Meh. I thought the Naked City Romeos were playing the Motor City Cafe on Sat. night, but I think I got the dates wrong. 3d6 and The Fat Dukes Of Fuck are playing @ the Bikini Bar on Sat., but I dunno if I'm gonna make that. Same with that Orgy show @ the Aruba on Sun. That place is doing a whole bunch of stuff show wise, but now that I found out that Brian Saliba is behind it, all I can say is enjoy it while it lasts. University Theater - anyone remember that? No, probably not, and that's just the way Las Vegas likes it. Forget your Past. Celebrate what's happening Now, no matter that it's neither Original, Interesting or Cute the 2nd, 3rd or 4th time around. Keep the Masses distracted and you can get anything done and approved. That's the American Way!! ;-)

It's 3 am on a beautiful Tuesday morning. Howard Stern is bitching about something and I could give a shit less. I've had the most interesting past few days ever, and I'm currently in the middle of major rehearsals with 3 different bands that have me not knowing which way is up. The Loud Pipes have a gig coming up soon, same with the Vegascendents, and I got a new band that I'm pretty hyped about. Aluminum Falcon has been 'shelved', for lack of a better term, and this new band helps ease the pain of the frustration of not being able to take Aluminum Falcon to greater heights than we did. Oh well. It wasn't from lack of trying, I can assure you of that. Starting a new band is like getting a new girlfriend. It's always fun in the beginning. ;-)

I heard nothing but great things about the Zombie Prom @ the Bunkhouse on Fri. I don't know if I believe the story Turbo told me, but it still sounded fun! hahaha I love the Tinglerz and I dig the Seriouslys. I was at the sidewalk sale for Cowtown Guitars Sat. afternoon, chatting away and eating hot dogs with the 2 new owners, Jesse & Roxie,  and their offspring, Gadzuki, who kept everyone on their toes by throwing around a super rubber bounce ball that everybody took turns chasing after, and by riding a scooter around for hours until he was red in the face. Gawd I love that kid. Great turnout too. Talked to a bunch of people who I haven't seen in a while, and even a few who only talk to me on Facebook - what a shock! hahahaha And it's always awkward when you see someone in person who just added you as a Friend, and they don't say a word to you -- how quickly can you say 'Delete'? ;-)

T.S.O.L. on Sat. - were you there? I wasn't, but everybody I talked to that was there said it was a great gig. I heard that Paolo and S.F.T. just killed it. I didn't go, of course, and not because it was at the Bunkhouse; I got no problem with the place, and it wasn't because of Civet, because those cunts just aren't worth the trouble of even making an effort to avoid, but I didn't go because of the Pulsar thing. Since I love the kid I'll spare him the indignity of airing our dirty laundry in public, but I will say this - I'm not the only one who thinks like this. Others are noticing, and they don't like it but Hey! What do I know, right? LOL

Yeah, nothing but shit talking going on here. I'm gonna go back to burning CD's into my music collection. People who come over to my house and see it or go through it are kind of impressed and shocked, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. :-) Support Local Music. Be More Than A Witness. Fuck Pay To Play Bullshit, and Plan on being at this gig on Saturday!

It's a Wedding Party!!!

It was all worth it! hahahaha After all the BS with the Hosting company, my Servers, and anyone else who thought they had an idea about A-Records and CNAME bullshit, the website is finally up, active, and available for whatever purpose it serves, besides self ego gratification, of course. ;-) WE DO IT BECAUSE WE ARE COMPELLED, PEOPLE!! There's no other reason, and it's the best reason that there is to do it. Yeah. So anyways, it's gonna be a busy weekend, and I just wanted to jump in here and remind all 3 of you who read this website about this:
Comic Books & Beer Flyer
Free beer and comic books?? LET'S GO!!
and this..., of course, is going to be fucking AMAZING!! hahahahaha Make sure to get there early to check out the opening bands. They, of course, are all a bunch of very well behaved, non-alcohol abusing Gentlemen, well acquainted with the rules of Proper Behavior and Social Etiquette.
Picture
And then, the next day, if you're not in jail for a DUI (like my poor friend Alex was recently) from the previous nights festivities, then get yer ass back to the LVCS to see this - Attendance is Mandatory.

There's gonna be artwork for sale and prints of some very cool stuff being sold, so if you're looking to make your bat cave a little bit spookier, then you might wanna bring a few extra dollars to purchase a few bits of Horror and Fear to hang up on your walls. And make sure you stick around, because not only do you have the almighty Pigasus playing the after party with their tough-as-nails wounded band members, but you also have Jack Grisham And The West Coast Dukes, who are gonna be playing a bunch of T.S.O.L. stuff, of course, but also some Joykiller material too! Suh-weeeet! If he plays Love You More Dead and Nobody's Here To Stay, I'd be a very happy camper.

And then on Sunday, I recover. And by that I mean, I'm gonna be at band practice, playing drums for like 5 hours straight. Yeah. Like I said, it's gonna be a pretty fun filled weekend, a minor precursor to the liver testing limits of next weekends Las Vegas Shakedown, happening @ the LVCS and the Beauty bar, both venues within stumbling distance of each other. Yeah, I'm digging this new website thing. It's like, it's fun again. Weird. Anyways, hope to see some of you out and about and making the Downtown scene fun again. Come out and dance in the flames of the world burning down all around us. Beats sitting at home and watching it on your TV, that's for sure.

To even attempt to begin to tell you what an influence the Ramones were on my life is a waste of energy. It wasn't like Johnny's passing is a shock, but to contemplate the thought that there's only 1 original member left of this groundbreaking band is sure to make you feel even older than you already are. So pour yourself a drink, slap on your favorite Ramones album and just remember... don't mourn the loss, but rather celebrate the gift we were given. I've been getting a great response from people who read my last posting here. I don't really post on myspace.com anymore, since Jesse gets all "macho insecurity" on me whenever Devon tells him what I wrote. At least if they come here to read what I wrote I get counter hits! LOL But yeah, lots of people have been writing / asking questions about what happened between me and The Loud Pipes, and I thank all of you for even giving a fuck. It just trips me out that all of this vicious legal stuff has to happen. Oh well. But anyways, enough of my Drama, let's talk about some killer shows with By Death's Design @ Gameworks tonight and The Dirty Babies @ The Double Down this weekend. Check out the Gig Listings page for more info on all the things coming up here in town (as always). Nothing new posted, nothing much to say. I'm in a funk over Johnny's passing, and I'll probably be that way for awhile. Oh yeah, I heard a few things about the D.I. / T.S.O.L. show last night... and the funny part is that I'm sure it's all true... slow, sloppy and shitty... heh heh heh

OK... not a lot to say... but that's only because I've been super busy with personal stuff. I finally got a house to call my own, and all I can say is that it's about time! It's the only thing I wanted for Christmas! I live right across the street from Devon, so I'm gonna be going over there and throwing rocks through his window real soon... heh heh heh I posted some Reviews (finally) about the latest releases from T.S.O.L., Supersuckers, Mummies, New York Dolls, Foo Fighters, R.H.C.P. and Speedealer. I have no idea what's happening with The Loud Pipes... I don't know if the demo is done, or if anything was gonna be done with The Troubadour live tape. I don't know if we have a tour to do in February... and I don't know about any upcoming show dates we may be playing (like the Sub/Hum/Ans gig @ The Huntridge). All I know is that I don't know nothing... and that's fine. Has it really been a whole year since I first played with The Loud Pipes? When Spencer was rubbing his package on my head while we played some Internet music show? Wowsers... lots has happened since then, and hopefully lots more will happen soon. Happy New Year everyone!!!
