Just when you think that dooshbag Stephen O'Hara couldn't get any "stupieder", he goes and pulls some dumb shit like this. Apparently he likes talking shit to people when they're down and out, and when he's obviously out of his mind. I'm still waiting to run into him somewhere and ask him about his little comments he made about me when I was bed ridden. I saw his ex band mate Homeless Mike this past weekend, both at the Ditch Dust BBQ and at the J.F.A. gig, and that little bitch boy kept his head down and acted like he didn't see me anywhere we were at. Funny. I applaud Clay for going public with his dismissal of this loser, because just like the cancer operation he just went through, you gotta cut that shit out before it spreads and takes over. Believe me, I know. I cut people out of my Life all the fucking time, because the Drama and Stress is just not worth it. Clay doesn't deserve to be dealing with this shit right now, but Stephen deserves to get anything and everything that's coming to him. And believe me, that retribution is going to come... and soon. Speaking of drunken acts of buffoonery, the High Rollers weekend is upon us, with everyone putting on their Fred Perry's and Harrington's and turning into an instant working class Skinhead - Oi! Oi! LOL Don we now our ghey apparel... ha ha ha There's plenty of events happening around the downtown area, like scooter rally's and rides, and 60's Soul dance parties with loads of DJ's, and a few bands playing, like The Champions, from San Francisco, who my friends up there say should not be missed, and a Jam cover band called All Mod Cons that I think I saw at one of the other scooter rally's before. Hmmmmm.... Interesting. Yayo Taco is closing. They can't pay a $700 fine, which doesn't say much for the success of their business. The LVRJ is saying the fine is paid, but the restaurant needs to be brought up to health code standards, which the Owner is refusing to do, because of some self implied persecution complex from the Clark County Health Dept. He says he doesn't have to, the County says he does. Whatever. There's a benefit gig going down there tonight, featuring Holding On To Sound, Caravels, and some other hand picked jewels of the All Ages scene, so if you're in the area, drop off a couple of bucks and help raise some dough to help pay for... something? All the info on the gig can be found here. First Friday tonight. Godhunter / Demon Lung gig tonight @ Favorites. The Champions @ the Bunkhouse. Mustard Plug and Los Kung Fu Monkeys @ the Hard Rock Cafe. F.S.P. @ the Double Clown. Holding On To Sound @ Yayo Taco. The People's Whiskey doing an unplugged set @ the Huntridge Tavern. All that is going down tonight, so there's no excuse to stay in. Saturday night it's all about Scarlet @ Artifice with their Bauhaus inspired night. Sunday is Crazy Chief @ Backstage Bar & Billiards. Plus Wranglers games going on against San Francisco and Colorado @ the Orleans all weekend. Yup! Definitely time for some shenanigans. ;-) Everything is updated. The photos of the White Kaps @ Favorites are posted, and you can see them by clicking here. The pictures of J.F.A. are posted as well, and you can click here to check those out. I also did a Music Review for the new Anti-Flag / Hostage Calm split 7", and you can click here to read that. It's amazing what you can get done when you have the time...
if it isn't one thing it's another. I can't seem to catch a break! LOL If it's not one piddly ass piss ant thing after another, ya know?
I came Home after an incredible Saturday night out with Friends and Family, starting off with Mike's Surprise Birthday Party get together @ P.T's Pub, and then the White Kaps / Glue Gun gig @ Favorites, and I took lots of photos of both events. I uploaded them to the portable hard drive connected to my computer when I got the chance, and then I passed out happy and content. I awoke the next afternoon and began to start editing them to post them up on Facebook and shit and my computer isn't reading the device. I can't access the pictures. Strange. I start and restart the computer, but it still doesn't read the hard drive. I try using a different USB port, I try starting/restarting the portable hard drive itself, I switch out the cords, try it in Safe mode, nothing works. I am fucking screwed. All my Pictures were on there - ALL of them. Years worth. Like I said, if it's not one thing it's another... phooey!
I'm not letting it get to me though - nope! I know there's a way to salvage everything that's on there (I hope!), and I had too much fun hanging out and making the scene these past few days to let it deter me at this particular moment. Nope! There's too much going on to be Positive about, like this Ditch Dust BBQ thing happening this weekend - click here to check out the Facebook page with all the info. It's being brought to you by Blue Tile Lounge Presents, Let It Roll Skateboarding, ODCFX.com and Double Down Radio. Oh, and the Hawaiian Hot Dog people are going to be there as well, just in case you get the munchies or something. ;-) It's all going down in Boulder City this Sat afternoon, and it's being hosted by Brian Brannon of J.F.A., who are playing later that night at the LVCS with Guilty By Association, IDFI, American Buckshot, G.F.I. from Slam Diego who, if you haven't seen them play before, are fanfuckingtastic, and Mersa, who are pretty good themselves. Yeah, it's gonna be a fun filled, long and busy day on Sat., and if you're not doing anything else, you should consider hanging out. The skate thing is free, and it's only $5 to get into the gig later that night. That's some pretty cheap entertainment right there. Probably cost you more for gas and beer than anything else. Wait - did I say 'probably'? I meant to say 'definitely'. ;-) Everything is updated. Loads of new stuff posted and available for your perusal - stuff like the Gig Review Dean did for the Vegascendents gig @ the Double Clown a few weeks ago, and you can click here to check that out. And speaking of Gig Reviews, Senor Karl Bakla did one for the Rapewhistle / Fuck The Facts / Gods America / Nests gig @ Favorites that went down a few weeks ago, and you can click here to read that one. I also posted some Pictures of the Tinglerz playing @ the LVCS (click here to check them out) and Soto St. playing @ the Double Clown - click here to check those out. I also had a new posting in the Tunes section on a Legendary Las Vegas Hardcore band called O.T. Factor for their 2nd release called Legends, but I found that the band had released the stuff on their old Myspace page, so I 86'd it. I really knew nothing about the band, and I still don't, but they do have a Facebook page, so click here to check out what they're up to now, and click here to go to the bands Myspace page to see what they were up to back then, and to listen to the Legends release, as well as some other songs from another release of theirs. Again, good stuff.
What an eventful week. Big ass meteors hitting the Earth, I had emergency surgery on my toofuses that had me hospitalized again, Clay got his cancerous kidney removed (Dr.s reported that it tested at 80 proof) and I spent the most wonderful Valentine's Day with a girl that will always and forever have my Heart and Soul, and she knows it - oh, and of course, Bob was there, my faithful Gunga Din like manservant and sexual confidante. I lost a few acquaintances too, including a girl that I had not seen for years, since like before the Infestshit days, and she passed away but I'm glad I got to see her before she went. When I saw her, I thought to myself, I know that girl from somewhere. She had grown up, gotten healthy, and was looking Happy and not as Punk Rock as she used to look. "Helloooo Gillll-buuuurrrt" she yelled at me, and I laughed because the way she said my name made me instantly recognize who she was. We hugged, we chatted about the old days, all the Drama that went down, had a beer, some laughs, and then we split, promising to add each other on Facebook and all that BS. Never did, and now she's gone. That fucking sucks. Another girl I know passed away this morning, the day after Valentine's Day. Her Facebook page is full of well wishes and naughty E-cards, chock full of her funny, smart ass comments, and now she too is gone. Both of these girls were in their early 20's, much too fucking young to be over and done. I hurt for their Family and Friends who have to deal with this shit way too soon. I hate sounding like a broken record but seriously, don't take anything for granted. Let people know how you feel about them. You just never fucking know...
OK. Calm before the storm. Nothing much going on this weekend except for that White Kaps gig on Sat.. I'm afraid to go for fear of running into someone else I haven't seen in a while and having them pass away from me too soon as well. Whatever. The funk I'm in will pass. Life is Beautiful. I'm listening to the Cure. It reminds me of Her, and all the others like her who have passed in and out of my Life. I will miss you. I love you all.
It's very rare that I do this, but I just had to rush these fantastic Fat Dukes Of Fuck photos up to the website, just to try to illustrate what a great performance they put on this past Saturday @ Motor City Cafe. They were beyond outlandish, putting on an interactive display of toilet paper flinging lessons that had everyone in the place getting into what they were doing. Totally original set and really great to see. Musically they're in the vein of bands like the Melvins, Crowbar, and maybe even Buzzoven, and the Enthusiasm and Lunacy the band displays is both contagious and entertaining. Everyone was having a great time, and the music was really, really good. Holy fuck did I love watching the Fat Dukes Of Fuck mess up the Motor City Cafe. That was some pretty gnarly shit. Click here to check out the photos, or just click on the Pictures tab near the top of the page. Either or. It's a Monday, and when I checked the ol' website email I found another Show Review from Karl Bakla in there! :-) If this keeps up it may add a shred of Dignity and Relevancy to this website! LOL The write up is for a gig with the Street Eaters, the Mapes, Time Crashers and the Hard Pipe Hitters, and you can read all about it by clicking right here. And for the record, I don't have a problem with the Hard Pipe Hitters. They got rid of that idiot from Infestshit, so they're now cool with me. I can support them guilt free. Now if only some other bands here in town would follow suit... Speaking of guilt - I heard Guilty By Association killed it on Saturday @ the Double Clown. That's fucking cool. And they even played some new songs, which is scary! LOL And everybody loved the White Kaps, but how could you not? They're a great band that I've been into since we were both playing that La Habra backyard keg party scene waaaaaaaaaaaayyy back in the days. Riots galore and fun times for all. I hope if and when the White Kaps come back, they play someplace else, but I doubt it. Phooey.Bunch of new stuff added to the website, like this Music Review for the latest release from Thick As Blood (click here to read that) and another on the latest release from Demon Lung called Pareidolia, which is nothing short of amazing. Click here to read that. I also added the American Buckshot Delightful demo to the Tunes page, to get you hyped up on our upcoming gig this Friday, and you can click here to check that out. Listen to it, download it, enjoy it, whatever. Everything is updated. I got a Teeter Hang Ups inversion table to check out today. ;-) Enjoy!
Shit! In all my haste to get something written down yesterday, I forgot to mention a few things that were on my mind, like all the good things I heard about that gig @ Yayo Taco on Monday. Some Finnish Punk bands played, and, of course, Vihan Rytmi played, because Adrian is hardcore like that, and because Vihan Rytmi has been on a tear as of late, playing gigs left, right and center. Those guys are sooooooo fucking good it's frightening. Noise Not Music taken to the Nth degree. The other bands that played, Haistelijat and Ydinperhe, were pretty impressive too, from what I heard of anyways. D-Beat. I fucking LOVE the D-Beat. <3 It takes a lot of dedication and a huge set of balls to travel all the way from Finland to tour the United States, so big ups to both those bands for doing it. I would of been at the gig, Hell, I really WANTED to be at the gig, but Monday night gigs just don't work out for me as of late. After band practice I'm usually pretty wet and spent, and in no mood or condition to go out and represent. Phooey. Anyways, it was a great time, lots of people came out, there was no dogs in attendance and only a few parking lot Poseurs because apparently, Yayo Taco just attracts those types of losers like shit attracts flies. Punk Rock Mooches. Whatever. Speaking of Punk Rock, there's 2 must-see gigs happening this weekend that I forgot to mention yesterday, but unfortunately I won't get to see them because they're happening at the Double Clown! hahaha First, on Friday, there's the Dirty Panties CD Release Party happening, with support from their label mates the Gashers and their good friends the Wastrels from Slam Diego, who I haven't seen in ages and who I probably last saw play at the Cooler Lounge many, many moons ago, and the Quitters, who are one of the best bands gigging around town. Should be a cool little fest. And speaking of bands I haven't seen in a while, the White Kaps are playing with Guilty By Association and Action 45 and S.F.T. and again, I won't be there to see any of it! LOL Yeah, I have been relieved of my drumming duties for GBA, and the gig on Sat. marks the return of Bingo Billy behind their kit, so if you go to the gig, make sure you congratulate that tuff motherfucker for coming back from a torn ACL as fast as he did. Those things are crippling to normal human drummers but not to him... heh heh Again, it should be a fun gig, so get yer ass down there and Support! :-) Me? I'm gonna be at the Motor City Cafe watching the Fat Dukes Of Fuck and the Civilians play! hahaha Speaking of the Fat Dukes Of Fuck, Bob sent in some photos he took of them a few days ago of them playing @ the Double Clown, and you can click here to check those out if you're so inclined. They're not the best photos ever taken, but they definitely capture the ambiance and eccentricity of the evening, that's for sure. :-) Everything is updated. It's a gorgeous day outside. I think I'm gonna go seek Adventure...
