I dunno... I was always told by my Mom that if you don't have anything nice to say, then you shouldn't say anything at all, right? ;-) And since I didn't have anything nice to say, I had nothing to say, but then, since the band I was supposed to have practice with pulled a no text / no call thing on me, I figured I'd sit in front of my computer and jot a few things down, in the middle of my negotiations to get into that Black Flag gig on Sunday... heh heh Tonight I'm playing a gig with the Vegascendents in Bullhead City, AZ. with two bands called Turbo Snail (it's their last gig ever, apparently) and Reject Riot, who I think are playing that upcoming Battalion Of Saints gig @ the Artistic Armory, but I'm not sure, but if you're interested in more info about the gig, then please click here and check out the Facebook event page for it. Where's Bullhead City, you ask? Good question, because I have no idea, but I'm told that it's an hour and a half drive away from Vegas, and that's about it. All I do know for certain is that this gig sprung up very last moment, like literally, less than 24 hours, and since April knows how to sucker Mike into these things (ha ha), I find myself heading off to AZ. to play a gig and then coming back to Vegas in the afternoon. Any tips / recommendations on something to do while I'm out there, besides my usual rub & tug & grub routine? LOL I'm coming back to Vegas on Sat. to play this gig with another band I'm in, S.F.T., a gig where we're sharing the stage with the very cool band IDFI and and a whole bunch of classy looking cars somewhere at Pair-A-Dice tattoo. I'm told we go on at 9 pm, so if you're in the area, or just looking for something to do that day, then stop by, have a few, get your grub on, buy some shit, and check out some Punk bands bringing the thunder. Should be fun. :-) As always, there's a shit ton of stuff going on this weekend, the Illicitor gig @ Triple B's, or the Fuzz SoLow gig @ the Gold Spike, or Hell, even that Castle gig going on at that new place called JJ's Showroom could be worth a gander, click here to weigh your options, but the gig most interesting to me is the one going on for Rory from the Hard Pipe Hitters birthday bash, which is going on directly down the street from a place I used to live in on Whispering Clouds Ct. in Southern Highlands. When I lived there I remember a bunch of high school kids having a little Ska / Punk band going on in their garage just down the street from me, near the cul-de-sac dead end, and on days I was Home I'd listen to them stumble and flourish, bashing out one song after another at band practice. I wonder what that band turned into, and which one of them one the bill they are? And yeah, then on Sun., I'm heading off to the dreaded Black Flag / Quitters gig @ the Limp Cock Cafe. Nay Nay assures me that I'll have no problems there, Photo Pass included, but I dunno, she could be betraying me, Lando Calrissian style, so I'm taking my own sexy Wookie with me to watch me back... hahahaha See you around!! :-)

Shit! Spazzing out on the whole recording thing with the Civilians made me forget about promoting this gig coming up on Fri., a gig celebrating the 4 year anniversary of Geezus Cryst & Free Beer, and band I've seen or played gigs with numerous times, but yet I couldn't tell you a single thing about them, which is either a good thing or a bad thing, I'm not sure yet. What I do know is that it's the first gig for the Vegascendents in about 3 months, so this should be fun just for that fact alone, but throw Frank & Deans and Stagnetti's Cock into the mix, and you end up with a pretty good smorgasbord of what's going on here Locally - crappy cover bands and just plain crappy bands! ha ha ha ha As usual, there's tons of stuff going on this weekend, so go to the Upcoming Gigs page by clicking here to figure out what you're gonna do with yourself these next few days. Me? I'm gonna enjoy some much needed time off, and with the Raiders drafting Khalil Mack for their much needed defensive woes, and with the Sharks bowing out of the playoff picture in such a disgraceful fashion, I'm already counting down the day until Autumn... or at least until my next trip out of town. :-) I might of been out of line, but it doesn't change a thing, because when you get right down to it, a persons sexual activities is really none of my fucking business, and it shouldn't be used as some sort of demeaning insult against somebody, because then you become an idiot like Homeless Dyke and then people laugh at you and nobody will ever take you seriously. I'll comment on him some more in a bit. But yeah, I might of been a bit extreme in calling her a whore, but other than that, it doesn't change a thing. Your band sucks. I don't like you. Deal with it. And speaking of dealing with it, while sitting at Camel Hump Studios, listening back to the bass and drum tracks that Jeremy and I had laid down for the next upcoming Civilians release, he read to me the latest case of diarrhea spewing from the mouth of Homeless Dyke on the Boycott Onethirtyeight.org Facebook page, and I just had to laugh at him flogging that dead horse once again. Give it up dude. Let it go already. Your perspective on the events of that day you're commenting on are both delusional and flat out wrong. I guess you forgot to mention the part where you were weeping like a little girl with a scraped knee while standing in front of me, apologizing left right and center for what you had done, begging me to stop what was going on all around us? Did you just conveniently block that out of your memory or something, because I can assure you it happened, because there were plenty of witnesses, but whatever. I'm done even commenting on anything you do or say, because it's meaningless and I got better things to do than listen to your homophobic rants about sucking dick and whatever, although your band getting kicked off that gig because of your shit talking was pretty funny. Consequences, man. Repercussions. Life's a bitch when you go out of your way to alienate yourself from everyone and everything. How "Punk" of you. Isn't it time for you to move away from here again? Jeez! LOL Yeah, recording at da Hump was cool. Obi John Kenobi Brown makes it all go smooth and easy, and always with that damn air bag in his hand! ha ha ha I think it took me longer to set up and for them to get everything mic'd up than it did to actually record the drum tracks. My band mates just called 'em out and I played them, with the only one needing a second take being a new song that we haven't even played that much, so whatever. Trueland seems to think that his process works best, and I'm inclined to believe him. 5 songs, 20 minutes, I'm done! LOL Took Jeremy just about that long to put his bass tracks down on top of mine, and after a quick mix sesh we called it a day. Simple. Easy. I wish all the bands I whore myself out to were just as easy to do things with. Anyways, great things on the horizon for the Civilians. Don't ask me when this recording is going to be finished or worked on again, because I'm just the Drummer - I'm lucky they even bother to tell me anything at all. ;-) Next gig is opening up for the Business at the Cheyenne Saloon on June 12th - see ya there! :-) Everything is updated, although damned if I know what any of it is right now. Look around and see for yourself... I'm too busy. ;-) Such a informative weekend, wasn't it? I learned so much about sooooo many interesting things. Wow! The effort is appreciated, but really, let it go. Seriously. Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone! I'm in the midst of preparations for a puro Mexicano carne asada fiesta, arroz y frijoles y todo!! Unfortunately, I have Loud Pipes practice tonight, so I won't be guzzling tequila like I should be today, but oh well. I can give up one in place of the other, because the band is sounding alarmingly good with Dave on guitar. I listen to the practice recordings all the time and I'm digging it. Come out to the gig in a few weeks and hear it for yourself... plug plug. :-) Sat. night's gig with S.F.T. was surreal. People throwing $20 at us while we played like we were some skanky strippers was pretty epic! LOL The 3 encores was pretty nice as well. Thanx to everyone for coming out and hanging out with us. It was fun. The other bands that played were cool as well. Some band that Derek James is playing in, a band called The Blooze Brothers, a Blues Brothers cover band, opened things up, and since I am a sucker for all things Blues Brothers related, I dug them. They had the drummer from the Voodoo Glow Skulls playing with 'em, for what it's worth, and the band sounded good from outside where I was standing. I had to venture inside to see Los Carajos play, a new project from John and Carlos from S.F.T., a band that plays Español versions of songs, Punk songs, Estrellitas, Rancheros, y todo! They haven't become narcocorridos yet, but I wouldn't put it past them. ;-) Seriously though, they were really good. I liked them. Nice guys too. And then S.F.T. finished the night off, people threw money at us, things got a little rowdy, and people were yelling for encores, and we pulled a few songs out of our asses that we haven't played in months, and they came out OK - I think! hahaha I'm digging that the guys in S.F.T. are now focusing on playing the gig than in getting fucked up beforehand. If you haven't heard us lately, check us out. New songs, new Drummer (me!), and new Attitudes, but not in a Patti LaBelle kind of way... well maybe. ;-) The reason why Billie Joe, Duff McKagan, Tre Cool, Jesse Malin and Tim "Don't call me Lint" Armstrong were all in town this past weekend was to renew Billie Joe and Adrienne's wedding vows. They've been married for 20 years now, and took the occasion to come out to Vegas and have fun. If you saw them get together on the tiny stage of the Beauty Bar on Sat. night and rip through Sonic Reducer and a few other classic songs, then you're pretty lucky. Video of their performance is out there. Search it out for yourself, you lazy bastards.
Did anybody see that Clash special that debuted this weekend on VH1 Classic called The Rise And Fall Of The Clash? Jeremy and I gave it a perusal last night after a good Felipito's grub, and the special itself is a very one sided, sensationalistic journalism type of piece, which is weird because Robin Banks' name is all over it, but there's lots of Interviews with every girl who ever fucked somebody in the band, friends of the band who pontificate a lot on what they thought the Clash were all about, and not a word from Paul or Topper about anything, except for archival footage of course, but nevertheless, here's what I got out of watching the entire thing: Bernie Rhodes is an asshole, Joe Strummer was a Saint, Mick Jones is a "Spliff Head", Paul Simonon was just Joe's lackey, and Topper Headon is the greatest Drummer that there ever was. Well, tell me something I don't know! LOL It's an interesting 2 hour watch, and if you can see it, I reccomend that you do. The focus on later day Clash version 2.0, the Vince, Pete and Nick years, is almost crucial watching material. Almost. Everything's updated. Bob is here, so it must be time for practice. Gotta keep that ol' 138 Studios going, now don't we? hahaha And as for that other thing, that Local band getting "signed", well, I predicted that, didn't I? Oh yes I did. And the Farce continues. It's pathetic how you desperate guys out there buy into that bands bullshit, and how you all fall hook, line and sinker for a talentless whore and her band of hacks. Pathetic yet predictable. Phooey. Sometimes I'm ashamed to be a male. hahahahaha The onethirtyeight.org Facebook page has exactly 419 likes. For the prestigious honor of being the 420th friend of the page, I'm giving that person a free onethirtyeight.org tee shirt... and maybe some weed, because I hear that's how you thank people for their support nowadays. ;-) I just posted the Pictures of Crazy Chief playing @ Velveteen Rabbit - click here to check them out. I also posted the Music Review on the Three Rounds / Junkie Fight split 7" that just came out recently, and you can click here to give it a read. Get that single ASAP, the Three Rounds stuff is really, really good. Everything is updated! Lots and lots of stuff going on this weekend, and you can click here to check out the newly redesigned Gig Calendar page. My band S.F.T. has a gig tomorrow @ the Double Clown, and I'd love to show you the flyer for the gig, but apparently no one made one, because that's just the thing to do when you're in a band in Las Vegas. ;-) Happy Cinco de Mayo! Avoid the Amateurs out there this weekend. |
