Written by Karl Bakla. I picked this record up solely for the novelty factor. Sure the Reggae music on this is not on par with the Upsetters Dub Blackboard Jungle, but I don’t think that was the point. This 7" has three Jawbreaker covers done reggae on Jamaican banana yellow vinyl, which will crack you up. Bad Scene, Everyone's Fault is pulled off of Dear You and changed up to Bad Weed, Dealers Fault. I remember buying Dear You years ago and thinking it sucked shit, so I am glad they chose the one song I actually dug from that album to cover. Boxcar is changed to Hot Boxcar, which cracks me up because when I was in high school my buddy Xavier got arrested for hot boxing, ha! Stupid drug laws! Kiss The Bottle is covered too, which reminds me that I need to fire up the credit card and purchase The Mission District: 17 Reasons compilation, so that I can complete my J Church collection. A little bummed there wasn't a cover from the Unfun LP. I bought Unfun when it came out & was floored by it. At that point in my life, if it wasn't hardcore then I thought it sucked shit! Jawbreaker were one of the bands that helped open my eyes and realize that good Punk didn't have to be played by shirtless thugs beating up people because they weren't fucking hardcore! This is a fun record, I assumed I would play it once and file it away, but I have already spun it several times. If you are a Jawbreaker fan, it's worth picking up. If you listen to Stan Rankin' T, you might want to stick to that. Available from the fine folks at the Silver Sprocket Bicycle Club, which you can find out more about by clicking here.
