The Psyatics / Haymarket Squares / The People's Whiskey / Piss Broke Rebels / The Lazy Stalkers @ The Double Clown Saloon
by All Hail Bob
As I walk in The People's Whiskey were just tuning up. I missed the first band. As they jump into the first song I noticed the mic was a little low and flat. Since I'm the "FORMER" sound tech over there, I hook them up with the one mic they had. There's 3 mic's most times. These guys got 3-4 different styles of music sets they can play and the Punk set was played this time. Right out the gate - WOW!! Best band of the night... Loud and in your face.
So I'm hanging out on the patio when The Psyatics start playing. It's sounds like a chick singing some butt rock style of early 80's Pop perhaps, but I go inside and it's 3 mid to late 40's guys and this guy had a such a HIGH voice - very VERY odd.
And then The Lazy Stalkers played... THEY SUCKED BADLY!!!!! Cute girl singing and bopping around, none of them could keep a tune. I would try to call it... Gutter Pop??? Something dumb ass hipsters would call Punk... and yet I found myself sitting through their set and heckling them. They did a cover of Anything, Anything and raped it. Why do bands cover that song? It's not even Dramarama's best song. I like the song Last Cigarette. I should have killed myself. It would have been more entertaining...
Then the Piss Broke Rebels played. Cow Rock sound from L.A. Not bad. Got some hooky sound... catchy but nothing I haven't heard before. The lead vox is a chick that was sitting down on the stage the whole set. I heard she broke her foot or something. At least sit on a bar stool! Her voice was like rough and like the girl from the Distillers. GIVE IT UP LADIES... THERE WAS AND EVER WILL BE ONE WENDY O. WILLIAMS... get a clue.
