Shit! I almost forgot to tell you about the February Music Reviews that were posted recently, so that's what I'm doing now! LOL I talk shit about the latest releases from Moon Women, Cerebral Ballzy, Metallica, Famous Last Words, G.P.B., the Nirvana tribute CD Newermind from Spin Magazine, Van Halen and Corrosion Of Conformity. Click here to read them. Also, I forgot to mention that The People's Whiskey @ the Bikini Bar photos were just added as well, so go to the right of these words and click on the photo of their guitar player who's name I don't know or you can just click here to check them out as well. Nothing much more to say really. Band practice has been killing me as of late, getting hyped up on recording this weekend @ Camel Hump Studios. It's gonna be fantastic! If you're in a band, click here to check out all the things they have to offer you. It's a pretty sick set up they got going there, so take advantage. Oh, and I don't think Aluminum Falcon is gonna be playing that gig @ the Cheyenne Saloon on Friday. We still haven't gotten a flyer from the Promoter and it just doesn't seem like it's worth it to play a gig that nobody knows anything about. We got better things to do with our time, like record a masterpiece! ;-)

OhMyGawd! The nuptials of Tess & Jess on Saturday was soooooooo cool! The outdoor ceremony was held @ the Artisan (classy joint with over-priced drinks) and the feeling being amongst Family and Friends was pretty fucking sweet. Everybody was fucking nice as can be, and there was nothing but Love Love Love in the air! :-) The ceremony itself was beautiful, with the Bride's side of the aisle filled with normal, well dressed people, looking healthy and animated, and the Groom's side of the aisle was filled with tattooed freaks all dressed in black looking hung over and very uncomfortable outside the confines of a dark, smelly bar. :-) Funny stuff. After the Ceremony was over it was great when Tess & Jess walked down the aisle as Man & Wife to the music from some Star Wars movie... heh heh heh As if you would expect anything else, right? Then the party moved to Agave where it was open bar, free food, and a strong enforcement of liquor license lines by an over-zealous Bar Manager or something. The commemorative shot glasses were a fine touch, and leave it to the Mexicans in the crowd to steal all the ones left behind on other tables, as well as stealing anything and everything that wasn't nailed down! LOL Oh, such fun times. Again, Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Nabers. Thanx for the Invite, and all the Best to the both of you. Huzzzzaaaaahhh! ;-)
Quiet weekend for me. Went to nothing, saw nothing, heard everything. I knew the Authority Zero show was going to be great, but after the Wedding reception I was waaaaayyy too buzzed to be driving around safely, so I headed Home to continue my whiskey drinking while watching Workaholics. ;-) I didn't make it to Lagwagon on Sunday either, because I was too busy doing nothing while laying around on the couch, wishing football was on. Bob was hanging out at my place after practice the other night while I was mixing down some old Loud Pipes practice MP3's I have laying around, and he saw all the other bands that I have recorded, and made the silly ass comment about releasing some of the tracks on some sort of onethirtyeight.org compilation thingy, and doing it old school by releasing it on cassette... LOL I told him I toyed with the idea a while back, but then decided 'What for?' and just left it at that. But Bob swears he'll do it, so I let him have at it, telling him I was gonna put the finished product on the website as a download and that he could release it on cassette if he mixed all the live stuff down, and so he did, and the first band on the block was G.F.I. because Bob says Nick is the dirtiest old man ever! ha ha ha We're working with bare basic mixing software (no Pro Tools) and the fact that these are just recorded on my little TASCAM hand held recorder, but they came out pretty good for what they are. Anyways, click here to check out the recording of G.F.I. Live @ The Bunkhouse on Feb. 27, 2010. Everything is updated. I got band practice in a few hours. Aluminum Falcon has a gig to play this Friday @ the Cheyenne Saloon, and I wish I knew who was playing, and I wish I had a flyer to show you for the gig, but, well, you know how that goes. Why promote a gig weeks beforehand when you can just create a Facebook event page a few days before the gig and then post the flyer on there. LOL After the gig on Friday we're heading straight to the studio to record our debut release. We got the studio locked down all weekend, and to say that this is a long time coming is the Understatement of the Century. Should be good. :-) Why is it that everything happens gig wise at once here in Vegas? It's either like there's nothing going on, or there's all sorts of shit going on. Ugh! It gets a bit frustrating at times, but I guess that's how it goes. And what's with bands sending me the flyers for their gigs the day before or the day of their gig, asking me to put it up on the website, and then getting pissy at me when I don't. Fuck you! To promote a gig properly, you can't just make a Facebook invite page and spread a flyer around on there. No wonder you guys bitch about how the Scene sucks because there was only 10 people to see you on a Weds. night. Jackasses. Oh well. Anyways, the fun tomorrow is @ First Friday, of course, and that kicks off with the Seriouslys and Stagnetti's Cock playing in the parking lot of Talk Of The Town, my 2nd favorite strip club in town. ;-) What's up with the band Stagnetti's Cock? Why does everyone talk shit about them? And more importantly, why should they care? LOL The flyer says the gig starts @ 10 pm, but I don't know how that's possible, if it's really a First Friday event kind of thing. 10 o'clock is when most things are shutting down, not starting up. If that gig is not Punk Rock enough for you, then this one definitely should fix that dilemma! LOL Also on Friday night is the 2 year anniversary of Ecophagy Records, a Local D.I.Y. record label / Distro that you should all support and buy stuff from. The people that run that label don't like me, but that doesn't mean I can't give props where props are due. :-) Like I said, they're having their 2 year anniversary party tomorrow @ Yayo Taco and Life's Torment are playing, and a bunch of other bands I know nothing about are playing as well, bands with names like Gravehill, Zoloa and Seas Will Rise. It's also the debut of a Local band called Vihan Rytmi, which is apparently Swedish for "We Kick Ass" or something. The band features Larry from Life's Torment and Adrian from Alarido, a band that broke up waaaaayyy too soon IMO. If you don't catch Vihan Rytmi @ Yayo Taco, you can catch them and Seas Will Rise and Zoloa playing later on that night @ the Double Down. It's a pretty shitty thing to do, play 2 different gigs on the same day, but since it's the Double Down, who gives a shit, ya know? LOL Fuck that place. And if this is not enough for you to do on a Friday night, the Burning Man people are, of course, burning a woman somewhere downtown, and N.E. Last Words are playing @ 8 Ball Bail Bonds, and I.D.F.I. are playing @ the Motor City Cafe with a couple of shitty loser bands, where 90% of the crowd will be outside tweeking and drinking. Plan your night accordingly. ;-) And then there's Saturday. Start off by watching 2 Troma movies @ the Sci-Fi Center (Demented Death Farm Massacre and Redneck Zombies), and then get your ass to the Cheyenne Saloon for the Authority Zero, S.F.T. and Surrounded By Thieves gig. That is going to be fun F-U-N!! And I'm happy to say that S.F.T. has their original drummer Darryl back. :-) And then Sunday it's all about Lagwagon / Nothington / Cobra Skulls @ the LVCS. You can get your tickets by clicking here. What? You haven't heard about that gig? Well don't worry - not a lot of people have. Hopefully people turn out for it, because all the bands are good, but if not, too bad. Promotion people, promotion. It's not a bad thing, I swear.
I probably won't go to any of these gigs though, because I'm planning on attending the Wedding of Tess Fosburgh and Jesse Nabers, Super Photographer Extraordinaire on Saturday. To see this guy so blissfully happy and content with his lovely Lady Tess has truly been a trip, to say the least. They say that there is a perfect match out there for everyone, and I'm glad that these 2 found each other. Congratulations to the both of you. May your Future together be nothing but Goodness. Everything's updated. Blah blah blah... |
