Here's the 'Professional' flyer for next weeks American Buckshot gig @ the Double Clown with I.D.F.I. and Agent 86 and like 4 other bands. We go on 1st so get there early. I was pleasantly surprised to check my email this morning and see a Show Review submitted by the Legendary Punk Rock Curmudgeon Karl Bakla, the Man so PFR that he was banned from Maximum Rock 'N' Roll!! LOL The review was for a gig with Appalachian Terror Unit / Modern Pets / P.R.O.B.L.E.M.S. / Elements Of Now, and you can click here to read it. It's really well written and I'm beyond hyped that Karl sent that in. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he keeps stuff coming in... hint hint :-)
ALL HAIL BOB gave a few more Pictures to be added to the website, these ones are from the Tinglerz and were taken the same night those Fat Dukes Of Fuck photos were taken. Click here to see them. He says his next ones will be better. I certainly hope so. Everything is updated. I added a shitload of info and flyers to the Gig Calendar page, and I posted a Review of some CD from a rap group called the Hazmat Boyz that I did a while back, and you can go here to read that if ya want. Catching up on website things slowly but surely. Bohemian Summer continues on unabated. Shit! In all my haste to get something written down yesterday, I forgot to mention a few things that were on my mind, like all the good things I heard about that gig @ Yayo Taco on Monday. Some Finnish Punk bands played, and, of course, Vihan Rytmi played, because Adrian is hardcore like that, and because Vihan Rytmi has been on a tear as of late, playing gigs left, right and center. Those guys are sooooooo fucking good it's frightening. Noise Not Music taken to the Nth degree. The other bands that played, Haistelijat and Ydinperhe, were pretty impressive too, from what I heard of anyways. D-Beat. I fucking LOVE the D-Beat. <3 It takes a lot of dedication and a huge set of balls to travel all the way from Finland to tour the United States, so big ups to both those bands for doing it. I would of been at the gig, Hell, I really WANTED to be at the gig, but Monday night gigs just don't work out for me as of late. After band practice I'm usually pretty wet and spent, and in no mood or condition to go out and represent. Phooey. Anyways, it was a great time, lots of people came out, there was no dogs in attendance and only a few parking lot Poseurs because apparently, Yayo Taco just attracts those types of losers like shit attracts flies. Punk Rock Mooches. Whatever. Speaking of Punk Rock, there's 2 must-see gigs happening this weekend that I forgot to mention yesterday, but unfortunately I won't get to see them because they're happening at the Double Clown! hahaha First, on Friday, there's the Dirty Panties CD Release Party happening, with support from their label mates the Gashers and their good friends the Wastrels from Slam Diego, who I haven't seen in ages and who I probably last saw play at the Cooler Lounge many, many moons ago, and the Quitters, who are one of the best bands gigging around town. Should be a cool little fest. And speaking of bands I haven't seen in a while, the White Kaps are playing with Guilty By Association and Action 45 and S.F.T. and again, I won't be there to see any of it! LOL Yeah, I have been relieved of my drumming duties for GBA, and the gig on Sat. marks the return of Bingo Billy behind their kit, so if you go to the gig, make sure you congratulate that tuff motherfucker for coming back from a torn ACL as fast as he did. Those things are crippling to normal human drummers but not to him... heh heh Again, it should be a fun gig, so get yer ass down there and Support! :-) Me? I'm gonna be at the Motor City Cafe watching the Fat Dukes Of Fuck and the Civilians play! hahaha Speaking of the Fat Dukes Of Fuck, Bob sent in some photos he took of them a few days ago of them playing @ the Double Clown, and you can click here to check those out if you're so inclined. They're not the best photos ever taken, but they definitely capture the ambiance and eccentricity of the evening, that's for sure. :-)
Everything is updated. It's a gorgeous day outside. I think I'm gonna go seek Adventure... Sunday's American Buckshot BBQ went extremely well. The libations were cold and plentiful, the fire was bright and red hot, the hot dogs were bacon wrapped and the carne asada was piled high on the plate. Chips and salsa everywhere, and a crazy ass lightning storm to cap the evening. Yup. Pretty fun stuff. And the band practice went well too. Our resident Soundman / Roadie Bob said were finally starting to sound good. I think the three piece line up is starting to kick in. Finally. We have a gig coming up in a few weeks at the Double Clown, and I'm almost positive we are no where near being close to ready, but Dean is an impatient man, and he's itching to play a gig, so there ya go. American Buckshot on the 27th of this month. There's a flyer floating around somewhere but it's too crappy for me to post up on here... heh We're like the 7th band playing on a clusterfuck of a show, but we go on first @ 10, so thankfully I'll only be there for a short while, play the gig, and then get the fuck out of there. My Friend and I from out of town have better things to do. ;-) Speaking of clusterfucks, what's up with that Bane show? LOL It's no longer happening at the Knights Hall, because the venue cancelled it last minute, and so now it's been combined with an already established gig that was happening at the Sanctuary, and Unfair Fight is no longer playing, which is the only reason why I was going to go to the gig. Phooey. No offense to Bane, because they're an alright band, but their fans are some major Tools and Dooshbags, so yeah, no Unfair Fight, no Bane gig for me! It's not worth the trouble. If you are still going though, bring some comfortable shoes because the gig has 9, count them, 9, bands playing. Ouch! Speaking of ouch, does anyone have anything good to say about the Bouncing Souls gig? LOL What did you seriously expect? More songs from Maniacal Laughter? The Good, The Bad And The Argyle? Yeah right. Those days are long gone and over, and the new material the band is touring on is just atrocious. I can't even think of the last new Bouncing Souls release that I enjoyed, and that's sad. Sorry, I guess I'm not a True Believer... hahaha Speaking of sad, the new Green Day single sucks ass. Listen to it here: soundcloud.com/greenday I spent the tail end of my Monday evening listening to Dave interview Haywood J. from the Mapes on No Sale radio (www.nosaleradio.org). The music selection was eclectic, and the chat room lively. It was pretty fun. I don't know if it's a weekly ongoing thing or what, but if it is, you should definitely tune in next week and give it a listen. You can even request stuff! My requests for KISS and the Germs could not be fulfilled. Maybe next week, no? ;-) hahaha Everything is updated. Lots of Gigs going down this weekend - including N.J. Pete's Birthday Party happening this Sat. at Motor City. The Fat Dukes Of Fuck and The Civilians are playing. Should be a fantastic time... Last night was soooooooo much fun!! Yayo Taco was the shizz last night, with lots of good Friends and Family in attendance because, well let's face it - what else are ya supposed to do on a Thurs. night? Sit on Facebook and complain how you're bored and broke and wish you had something to do? LOL Well, to all you people who were doing that, the gig last night was FREE and all the bands were really good - even Nothing With Numbers! LOL Yeah, I've never been a fan of that band, but last night they were exceptionally good, making me get off my ass and check them out while they played. Pretty cool sounding stuff. I'm definitely gonna have to check them out again sometime soon. I take back any bad things I may or may not have said about them! hahaha Random Orbits were pretty good too, reminding me of bands like Glassjaw or Sunny Day Real Estate, but in a more rocking way... heh. I thought I had seen them play somewhere else before but I was wrong. Oh well. They were still proper and I bought some merch from them to help them out. Apparently when their Tour first began, the band was robbed of all their musical equipment and have been doing the gigs on borrowed equipment. Very fucking commendable. Random Orbits, check them out. They're pretty good. And, of course, fucking Deadhand and TheCore both just laid waste to the place with a couple of fantastic sets that were mixtures of classic material and new songs that I have never heard before. I think both bands have some new releases forthcoming, and based on what I heard both bands play, those releases are gonna be quake inducing, shaking the Earth kind of Music. Personally I can't wait to hear it. :-) In the Better Late Than Never Dept. is a Show Review that good ol' Skateboard Bob did for that Fat Dukes Of Fuck / Tinglerz / Seriouslys / Civilians gig that happened at the Double Clown last week, and you can click here to read it if you are so inclined. It's infantile, crass, poorly worded and socially irrelevant, which means it's a perfect fit to this web 'zine. LOL He took some photos as well, so look for those to be posted up here real soon. And speaking of photos, I got around to posting those Pictures I took of Spotted Dick And The Love Stew and the $wingin' Utter$ at the Bunkhouse from last month. Click here for some Spotted Dick, and click here for some $wingin' Utter$. That night was very, very interesting... heh heh Everything is updated. Go see The People's Whiskey @ Favorites tonight. :-) ...and the Lamb opened the third Seal, and I heard the third living Creature say "Come and See" and behold a Black Horse, and upon him sat Death, and in its hand a pair of Scales... Piece of shit sentenced to Death for Murder Yeah, it's definitely a weird day today. Chimpanzees running crazy in the streets, Curl Up And Die announcing their getting back together, which I 'kind of' heard something about a while ago, and, of course, the Killers have a new song out called Runaways. Barf. I used to make massive fun of the Killers back when they were first starting out, but then I stopped because it bored me, but after my recent trip to the KISS mini golf place, and seeing those dooshbags in that band up on the wall as some sort of offering to ascertain the status of some of the legendary people who put Vegas on the map (like Bugsy Siegel) just makes me despise that band even more than I already do, which is saying a LOT! heh heh I thought Slaughter would of been more appropriate, but what do I know? LOL I seriously can't wait to go back to KISS mini golf - hopefully with my camera this time! Time... time to talk about some gigs. First one is this Random Orbits / Deadhand / TheCore gig going down at Yayo Taco tonight. This one totally slipped through my fingers as I had been sent the flyer weeks ago, but just never got around to putting it up on the website for whatever bong hit induced reason. It's fucking FREE and you ain't got nothing better to do tonight, so come on out and represent! :-) And then tomorrow night, besides that Bouncing Souls gig @ the HOB, there's this little interesting gig happening at Favorite's, a venue which apparently nobody likes! LOL What did you people expect? Change? Really? Same Idiots, same Drama. You can't teach an old dog new tricks, and believe me, there are some real old dogs and real old tricks inhabiting that place. Anyways, The People's Whiskey will be providing musical accompaniment to the sexy shenanigans of the Battle Born Burlesque, featuring my dear friend Lou Lou Roxy, so if you're feeling adventurous stop by. Everything's updated. I gotta run. Too Hip - Gotta Go. See you at the gigs! :-)
