Had a great time in CA this past weekend. The Headnoise gig in Pomona with Phobia and Mob Attack (who I fucking LOVE!!! D-Beat 4 Life!) was pretty sick. It was at the old (still is) Characters in Pomona, right next to the police station, and which is where I think I saw the $winging Utter$ play once at back in the daze. Cool little place with an outdoor smoking patio where everybody smokes weed while the cop cars roll right by. Weird. Paid no attention to any of the opening bands because I was too busy hanging out and being Chatty Cathy, and then it was time for Headnoise to play. Ya know, it's funny with Headnoise gigs - either some people get it, and don't care, and rock out like they would for any other band, or they hold back and look at their friends for acceptance, for approval, seeing if it's OK to like a "Christian Punk" band ha ha ha ha Oh well. Lots of people dug us, and that's all that matters really. Made lots of new friends after the set, and I had to tear myself away from them all to get my ass inside to see Mob Attack fuck shit up with their blistering barrage of D-Beat madness. Just fucking glorious to my ears and I took lots of pictures and videos like the idiot that I am. Phobia was too much for my ears after Mob Attack, I hung around the patio area decompressing, so after they were done playing a whole shitload of us went to Norm's in Claremont for breakfast grub. There was a shitload of us, some drunk and stoned and wasted and loud, and it took forever to get service and to get our food. The putting everything on one check thing was just the icing on the cake. After everyone left and called it a night, I smoked cloves and watched the sunrise with Rob before crashing out.

The next day I had to go to Cerritos to the Guitar Center to buy more drumsticks. I broke the only 4 pairs of sticks I had at the Headnoise gig the night before. Grabbed some amazing Thai food at Thai Table with Edie and Robert and Digby before meeting up with all the rest of the Headnoise family at Muldoons Saloon in Long Beach for the gig. The place was a dive. Funky but fun. The opening bands played while we hung around outside before heading in. We bullied the jukebox with Clash and Gang Of Four tunes once we were in there, and Headnoise held their own little pool shark tournament, with Tom being the winner of it all in a match against Robert. Once the opening bands were done, we set up quickly, and we played against a huge white screen that was being used to project a psychedelic light show directly in our eyes while we played, and it made for an interesting set. It was basically a glorified practice, but we played some new songs and a few more we didn't play the night before, and people dug the shit out of us. We're building up quite an arsenal of tunes, with both old and new ones being added all the time. It was a fun gig. Afterwards we headed off to Norm's again, this time in Whittier, where the service was quicker, but they gave me creamer in my water. Yuck. Went back to my room to deal with Managers, Police, and selfish assholes parking in handicap parking spaces without proper placards. Phooey. Kippered a few hours rest before heading to the grand opening of the Headnoise familia's new church and then it was off to Sid's Tattoo Parlor for a free tattoo from Rob before heading back to Vegas... right back to the unfolding insanity...
