Not a lot was made of it here Locally, but the Seriouslys broke up recently, and I'm just as guilty as every body else that writes about Music here in town in not making a bigger deal out of that fact. I hate that this write up is becoming a Eulogy of sorts, but I guess that's the way it is. The Seriouslys were a great band, and this release, Keepin' It Shrill, has become their swan song unfortunately, but what a swan song it is! It's one Hell of a way to go out big, that's for sure. The 6 songs on here are some well played Punk Pop goodness, catchy as all fucking gets, with buzz saw guitars that go from dirty and nasty to light and airy in a matter of seconds, bass runs that climb and hop all over the fret board, and drum beats that snap and crack and keep everything toe tapping and head nodding. The songs are short, sweet and infectious. Fantastic stuff. Such a shame that they're not gonna be around anymore, because every Scene needs a band like the Seriouslys. Lots of bands sing about Politics and War and Love and all that, but no one sings about space monsters, finding blood in their friends swimming pool, or Local drama queens, quite like the Seriouslys did, and they will be missed, that's for sure.
Anyways, back to this release - there's some classic stuff on this release. I don't know where it was recorded, somewhere in California I believe, it sounds killer though, and I do recognize most of the songs on here, like Hiroshirama, Stab X 3, and Garbage Pile, because they were the tunes the band was playing the most at their recent gigs, and they redid their songs On The Wire and Drama Queen on here for some reason. Sounds better than the versions on their first album, so I guess that's as good a reason as any to redo a song, right? I dunno. Whatever. I wish I would of gotten this download card from the band sooner, because then I could of enjoyed their last sets more if I would of known the material a bit better. Yeah, Keepin' It Shrill wasn't put out on vinyl or even pressed up on CD's, it was just a digital only release, which is kind of interesting. Is this the wave of the future? Who knows? All I know is that this is the final release from one of the better bands to come out of Vegas, the Seriouslys, and it's a damn 6 song treasure waiting to be found for some, but it's always good to go out on top, right? Right! Kudos Ladies, Kudos. :-)
I dunno how you'd find the download card for this album - maybe go up to one of the band members and buy them a few drinks and after a bit ask them if they have one on them? That might work. Go to the Seriouslys Facebook page by clicking here and find out who the band members are and where they like to hang out and drink at. ;-)
