![]() You have to question if it's going to be a very good Ministry album when you start listening to the thing and you have to wait a few minutes before anything remotely interesting happens... ha ha ha So yeah, here's the new Ministry CD. The band is apparently back from the dead, even though Al Jourgensen swore up and down back in 2008 that Ministry would never ever EVER get back together. Yeah right! Integrity? Fuck that. There are bills to be paid and habits to be supported and so you have this Relapse release, which has the band sounding a bit more Industrial, a little bit more Noisy, and still just as Intense as they ever were. Once this thing gets going it's pretty fucking pungent. Mr. Jourgensen sounds in fine form vocally, and I'm glad he's gotten that whole 'Bush is Satan' thing out of his system. All the samples and loops on here are randomly bizarre, as opposed to being just George Bush saying stupid stuff. That schtick got old real quick. Sonically this CD sounds good. Loud as fuck drum machines battle with screaming guitars playing fast as fuck riffs all with vokills layered and slathered in heaping servings all on top of it all. There's a random S.O.D. cover right smack dab in the middle of things that has to be heard to be believed, and it definitely threw me for a loop. United Forces? Really? Why a S.O.D. cover? Your guess is as good as mine. LOL Look, it's Ministry, you know what they're all about. I'm a fan and I liked this album. If you're a fan you will too. It's not their best release, but it definitely doesn't suck. Standout tracks on here include Freefall, Double Tap, Weekend Warrior and the title track. Everything else is pretty much fluffy throw away, which is kind of sad. A CD that's 50% good is better than no CD, right? Right! An interesting release from Ministry. Available from 13th Planet Records.
