hahahaha Now you know there was NO way I wasn't going to review what's probably the hottest bootleg floating around the Internet right now, right? LOL I mean, there no way I could pass this up! No way. Yup! Oh yeah, it was done. The impossible was done. Danzig's nightmare came true. Not only was the gig digitally recorded on cell phones by all sorts of people (look on YouTube for proof before it gets taken down), it was also audio recorded for posterity. After all the BS about security and locking up your phone and having to go through 2 sets of metal detectors and blah blah blah, someone snuck a pair of recorders in, 2 guys standing on both sides of the stage, and for what it's worth, it's not that bad of a recording. It's definitely listenable and sounds good when played loud. As the owner of dozens of Misfits bootlegs, I can say that I've definitely heard worse... heh heh. I like it because it pretty much sounds like the gig sounded if you were there in the big cavernous arena... hahaha The bass is booming and distorted, Danzig's voice is cracking and warbling off key, the guitars are tinny and LOUD and feedback laden, and the drumming is all over the place - pretty much like I've seen the Misfits every time before! LOL For those of you who saw the gig, you could definitely enjoy this bootleg as a souvenir of sorts, because it captures what the band sounded like that night to a T. You can hear Danzig flub the lyrics to Where Eagles Dare, Mommy... Can I Go Out And Kill Tonight?, All Hell Breaks Loose, and Halloween, hear Doyle not play guitar on a lot of songs (although the feedback laden intro he plays on London Dungeon does sound really fucking good), hear Dave Lombardo play the faster paced songs too slow and the slower paced songs too fast, and Jerry Only provide a wall of noise while crooning like Jerry Vale. It's funny and great. Was the band always this cheesy??? LOL My only real complaint is that they edited out all the in-between song banter on this release, which, to me, was the keef of seeing the Misfits live - Danzig's out of breath, old man rants against whatever was on his mind at the moment. It was the best! "This isn't some Punk Rock concert, this is the Misfits, so slam your ass off!"... hahaha There is a great rant left on here about "real news - not that censored bullshit you see on TV" and his plug for blacklistednews.com... hahaha Whatever. I could go on and on. The songs that were worth the price of admission, that were played perfectly and sound deliciously evil? Oh gosh... Vampira, Hybrid Moments, Teenagers From Mars, Horror Business (my gawd <3), Hollywood Babylon, Who Killed Marilyn? ("more censored news bullshit" according to Danzig), Violent World (very cool to hear live), Astro Zombies, and Night Of The Living Dead. Bien spooky indeed! Although not the complete show (the encore songs of She, Bullet, Attitude, and We Are 138 were not recorded for some reason, and Devilock and Angelfuck were on the setlist but not played), this is still a solid 80 minutes of music from one of the most talked about musical spectacles to ever happen in this or any other lifetime. They said there was no way it would ever happen. They said there was no way they were gonna patch up their differences and get back together and play again, and yet they did. Money solves everything, and this Misfits bootleg, for better or for worse, captures how it was and how it went down. Essential for collectors only. :) Good luck finding this one... 😎😎😎
