I can still hear ALL of my Raiders fan friends lamenting loudly and proudly during the preseason that This is OUR year and We're going to the Superbowl for sure and all other sorts of bandwagon fan crap, and when I pointedly asked them what they based this opinion on, they mostly said 3 things - QB Carr, WR Crabtree/Cooper, and Mack and Beastmode. When I brought up that our reliance on Carr last year is what killed the team, and that there was still no adequate backup to Carr in case, oh Heaven forbid, he gets injured again this year, and my friends would counter back with, but we have the best O-line ever and Carr's not gonna get touched this year, to which I said "Uh huh". When I pointed out that our young receivers had more dropped passes than anybody in the league combined, I was called a Hater. And when I brought up the fact that Beastmode Lynch didn't exactly go out on a high note at the end of his career, and now we expected this guy, who hadn't trained or done anything football related in years to just come on the field and do what for our Offense, I was told I wasn't a true fan, even though I've been supporting the team since 1972. Whatever. Once again, Luck, and a lot of smoke and mirrors had Raiders fans salivating at the possibilities after the first 2 games of this season, with SOME people (coughcoughMattcoughcough) even thinking we were gonna be undefeated the first half of the season, and I just kind of stood around and went 'meh' about it all, because I knew we weren't good, I knew we were all hype, no substance, and now with our current 2-3 record, with the last 3 games being games we should of won on paper but didn't, well, I think our true selves are finally being shown. I think I was proven right. Sucks I know, but let's face it - our Defense is horrible. #firekennortonjr Sean Smith is a joke, so is our Defensive Coordinator. That guy couldn't adapt or change a scheme to save his Dad's life. Nepotism at it's finest. Beastmode has failed to do anything or even come close to living up to the hope or the hype he was generating on social media before even touching a football. Our receivers drop everything that's thrown at them (once again leading the league in dropped passes) but it doesn't matter anyways, because we don't have a quarterback to throw it to them! LOL Once again Carr goes down with an injury and the whole Raiders train derails. Been the story so far this year. Once somebody gets injured, we have no backups to smoothly step in and make the transition less painful. Ugh. This season has been painful, and the shenanigans with the building of the stadium out here just leave me with a bad taste in my mouth, and I find myself lost on the Lord's day. No band practice, and now no football - what am I gonna do with my Sundays??? Work on the website? Fuck that! LOL
