Las Vegas Mercury’s 2nd Anniversary Party with T.S.O.L. - THE LOUD PIPES - THE DIRTY BABIES - SPLIT SECOND - RED MEANS GO @ The Rock It Tent in the Rio Parking Lot

Weird place for a show. It was 3 things going on at once, The Mercury’s 2nd Anniversary party, The Kodak Rock X-Posed Photo Exhibit, and the show with us and T.S.O.L.. But with all the free food, booze, Gatorades and Red Bulls we could handle, how could we complain? The show started off with Red Means Go, and I’m sure glad they only had a 30 min. set. These guys shouldn’t quit their day jobs, which is being in the Blue Man Group. Split Second came on next and played some early 80’s H.C. sounding Punk Rock, which got the kids moving about. Unfortunately, this began a night long battle with Security over the kids dancing. Seems they didn’t like the people reacting to this crazy Rock and Roll music... which was doubly ironic, since the exhibit featured pictures of kids dancing to Rock and Roll music... sigh. The Dirty Babies played after them and got the crowd bobbing along to their groovy sounding tunes. Really good stuff from them, you should definitely go and check them out when you get the chance.
The Loud Pipes were on next and of course, Chaos and Disorder were the keywords for the set. If you could ignore Roxie’s bass problems, the set sounded really good, and even included a new song... woo hoo! And then came the all mighty T.S.O.L. Playing all of their classics, taking requests from the audience... man, T.S.O.L. were a sight to see. 80 Times... Property Is Theft... Man And Machine... they all sounded killer, and even the new ones off of their latest album Disappear sounded good, songs like Sodomy and Terrible People. Jack looked good in his un-pressed business suit, and had the crowd eating out of his hand the moment he stepped up to the microphone. Mike’s bass playing was spot on, and it was good to hang out with him before the show... shooting the shit about the good old days... lol. Ron told Jesse that the amp he was playing through tonight was the same one that he used to record Dance With Me... no wonder all the songs sounded sooo good! Great show. Great band. Fucking good time was had by all. Extra special thanx to Kat from the Huntridge for all the freebies, and for trying to keep things organized... heh heh heh.
