Cobra Skulls / Holding On To Sound / The People's Whiskey / The Seriouslys @ The Bunkhouse Saloon9/24/2012 by Karl Bakla I was pretty stoked about this show since the last time I saw Cobra Skulls was at pre-FEST 10, and I was so drunk that I only vaguely remember their set. It has been asked before, "Why do you get so drunk?", which is followed with, "If you like a band so much and see them drunk, you will just end up not remembering the show!". Well, for one thing, I never said I liked any of the bands that I see... and secondly, the only record I like is Poison Idea's Pick Your King. If you come to my house, the first thing you will notice is that I don't live in a house. The second thing you will notice is my large record collection. At first thought you might think, "Wow, what a large record collection?!", but after you go through it, you will realize I just own a thousand copies of Pick Your King by Poison Idea. "Why?", you might ask. Well, if you have to ask, then you are probably a poser, Poser! When I pulled up to this show I was pretty stoked to see that the parking lot was filled... not too shabby for a Monday night! As I walked through the door of the Bunkhouse, The Seriouslys were playing, which was pretty awesome because the last time I saw them play I was so drunk I don’t really remember them playing. Such a shame, because tonight they played a really good set filled with poppy Punk Rock tunes! While they were playing, I found my date waiting for me at the bar... that Gavin has the most luscious lips and fuck me eyes. He drives all the boys wild. I missed The People’s Whiskey's set which is no fault to them; I was catching up with my main dude outside. I heard about his new job, and he got to hear that I am still a loser with no plans to ever be a winner! While we were talking a member of the Bitters came up, and joined the conversation. He said to us, "I'd rather have AIDS, than fuck with a condom!" When Holding On To Sound played we rushed in. The front of the stage was more jam packed than my butthole at midnight at Hawks gym. It was great seeing a shit load of people singing along to them, and it was awesome seeing a bunch of people that I never see at Punk shows. H.O.T.S. did a great set filled with their dub influenced hard core; everyone in attendance was stoked and rocking out. When Cobra Skulls played, all of the people I never see at Punk shows who happened to be at this show were gone, so fuck them! Fake ass tricks! Cobra Skulls played an awesome set, and the people that stuck around were treated to political Punk songs that made the crowd happier than a crack head with a boulder-sized rock. It was a good night; the only thing that would make the night better was a chile relleno burrito at Pepe’s, so like any good fat ass I waddled my way to my car and headed out for some comfort food!
