Dwarves - Take Back The Night cover artworkArtwork stolen from Dwarves.com
Ahhhhhhhhh, the Dwarves. Now here's a band that you can set your Punk Rock watch to. Unapologetically punishing in their delivery, the Dwarves are a non-PC breath of stale beer cigarette tinged air, and they rarely, if ever, fail to deliver the goods when given the chance to, and on this, their 13th full length release called Take Back The Night, the Dwarves stomp and swagger like the Punk Rock titans that they are, although maybe not as angry as they used to be, and definitely not as fast and sloppy as they used to be either, but still, just as mighty. 17 songs in 26 minutes. That's pretty Punk Rock. Not bad. This is the "going back to their early sound" release that established bands are forced to put out, an album where every song, every riff, sounds vaguely similar to something the band had put out years early when they were in their prime. Nostalgia Sells. Songs like Safe Space, Down And Dirty, Here's Looking At You, The Giver, and Nowhere Fast, are all brutally great stuff, don't get me wrong, but if you're a longtime Dwarves fan you'll hear where they copped the lick from an early classic tune from. Not a bad thing just an observation. It's hard to keep up with who's in the Dwarves nowadays, but as long as Blag sneers and snarls and croons away as the ringmaster to this demented Punk Rock 'N' Roll circus, then it really doesn't matter who's in the band, now does it? This CD sounds fantastic. Kudos to Andy Carpenter for mixing this shit and making it sound as good as it does. There's 4 clean versions of songs from the album tacked onto the end of the CD for some reason, versions of the songs without the cuss words in them, but you can just ignore them all. Imagine that, the Dwarves pandering to radio stipulations hoping to get airplay. What has the world come to? LOL This is a pretty good  release from the Dwarves. Certainly not their best, but definitely not their worst. I dig it.

Available on beautiful colored vinyl from Burger Records by clicking here. It's also available digitally via the Dwarves Bandcamp page, which you can go to by clicking here. It's also available on dwarves.com (click here), Amazon.com (click here), Spotify (click here), and wherever else Punk Rock is packaged and processed and made all nice for profit.
