![]() You know how every station in every City has an "Extreme" radio station? And you know how 98% of those bands on there all look alike and sound alike and are comprised of the same looking types of douchebags?? Well, apparently this band Gob thought it would be cool to join up with that 98% of the populace and make perfectly banal, bland music for the mindless sheep that congregate at cool clubs and Alternative bars all across the world. Safe as plastic scissors and just as deadly. I'm sure this CD sounds great being pumped out over the popular club's P.A., where the drinks are over priced and the girls are overly plastic, but other than that, phooey. Ball-less music for background noise while trying to find someone to fuck for the night. Why do bands like Gob even exist? Is it to keep the mindless drones that populate trendy clubs happy? Probably. Let's hope this music stays there where it belongs. Phooey.

![]() Gawd I am such a major league fag for this band Squeeze. Unashamed I am about it too! Don't ask how it happened, I really don't remember, but it just did. I, like every other girl on the planet, had this originally in the good ol' VHS format many, many moons ago, and to finally have it on DVD is so freaking awesome! No remastering / remixing done with this DVD - it looks just as bad now as it did back then! hahahaha But oh, the music, the music is glorious - sugar sweet pop songs of Lost Love, Broken Hearts and Excessive Drinking make this band one after my own heart. The little blue guy from the Greatest Hits LP is still here, scrawling away in blue and red all the song titles to the videos. Was he supposed to be drawn in 3-D? I dunno. I might have to bust out some 3-D glasses and see if he is, because it sure looks like that. Anyways, if you don't know a thing about Squeeze, this is as good a place as any to start. This DVD is great. Watching the videos that accompany such classic tunes as Is That Love, Another Nail In My Heart, Hourglass and, of course, Black Coffee In Bed and Tempted will show you how witty and original this band was, and why the Difford / Tillbrook songwriting team are considered to be the Lennon / McCartney of the 80's. Absolutely essential. ![]() Wowsers! Where did this Hostage Life band come from? This is really surprising stuff! Catchy, sing song melodic Punk ala latter day Bad Religion, Face To Face, Strung Out or even Alkaline Trio make this highly listenable. I don't know how I got this CD, as the band hails from Toronto, Ontario, up in the Great White North part of North America known as Canada. Tight as fuck, toe tapping, happy go lucky Punk music. I like the lead vocals. Hostage Life got a good sound. Interesting drum work, crunchy guitar riffs, lots of O.C. Rikk Agnew harmonic octave solos, and what I think are some lyrics that are not trodding the same old boards as everybody else makes this an interesting tease as to what the band is all about. Hostage Life. Check them out. |
