Walk Proud - Too Much Is Never Enough

Walk Proud - Too Much Is Never Enough cover
If you don't know about the almighty Walk Proud, straight outta barrio Norwalk, CA., then I feel sorry for you, because you missed out on some blistering Hardcore, puro Punk Rock played by 5 guys with energy to burn and hooks for days. Such a good band. They played with everybody - Agnostic Front, Gorilla Biscuits, Insted, Youth Of Today, Ill Repute, No For An Answer, blah blah blah, fitting in perfectly with the Positive message and youthful attitudes that were prevalent at those type of gigs, be it Youth Crew, or Nardcore or whatever. They could hold their own on stage with anyone. Later on Walk Proud got signed to the Legendary Nemesis Records, run by Big Frank Harrison, one of the pillars of the Punk Rock scene in So. Cal at the time. They were label mates with The Offspring, played with Green Day, and it seemed that they were destined for greatness, and then... they just sort of blew up and blew apart. Other distracting things took priority, and Walk Proud kind of went out with a whimper, playing periodically with different members at different times and then just drifting away aimlessly as new musical projects took precedent over anything Walk Proud related. Sad, and not a good way to go out. They deserved better than that. They were a good band. It was a classic case of 'Could of, Would of, Should of'.

And yet, as it often does, the call to play again took a hold of the various Walk Proud band members, all of whom had matured and grown up into fine, upstanding gentlemen; Fathers and Grandfathers, and yet the urge to just pick up their instruments and play some (now) Old School Hardcore, if only for their own satisfaction, was too much to resist, and so they did, minus 1 original member (Matt - guitar), Walk Proud has decided to start gigging around again, and in doing so, have put together 12 new songs of circle pit inducing Hardcore that is truly a treat to my ears. Not only for the nostalgia that's involved with this - I've known these guys for years, and must have seen them play 50 times or so, from backyards to big venues, but it's also a treat because these songs are that good. Head bobbing, toe tapping songs with lots of shouted out vocals and crunchy Metal tinged guitar riffs. Stuff that would have me out in the pit knocking fools around if I didn't have a bum knee and a bad back. Walk Proud is bringing their fiery, circle pit inducing Punk Rock music to a new generation of fans, and I for one couldn't be happier. They gig around heavy, so keep an eye out for them, and check them out when you get the chance, and if you watch Walk Proud play and you don't like them, uhhhm, either Karl or Jim will give you a free sticker and huge hug. Not Lalo though. He's still a scary, solitary, hombre... heh heh heh Check out this brand spanking new Walk Proud album. I'm pretty sure you're gonna love it. :-)

Available from the band at each and every gig that Walk Proud plays. It's also available from Know Records, their current label, on either green or red vinyl. I got mine on greedy money green. Click here to buy it from them. It's also available on iTunes by clicking here, Amazon by clicking here, yada yada yada...
