ha ha ha I'm sure this is NOT the official title to this upcoming release from Philly's own Moon Women, but that's how Pitt sent me the MP3's, so that's how I'm labeling it. :-) I'm not even sure he wants me to review this, but I don't care, because this stuff is soooooo fucking good it would be a shame not to let everyone know about it. There's a soothing familiarity about this Moon Women release, in the fact that it sounds like an amalgamation of every post-Punk band that teetered on the line between avant garde, rhythmic art noise and heavy metal pomposity laced with delusions of grandeur. This is really, really really fucking good. Bright, jangly guitars with heavily effected vocal delivery with a danceable back beat. Think early U2, or Lords Of The New Church even. Catchy as fuck, discordant jingle-jangly guitar driven pieces of noisy sugary bliss that's really amazing stuff. The song Seventeen is just brilliant, and the thought of poor little Pitt being the moody little teenage subject of that song just makes me grin to no end. :-) This is going to be a fantastic piece of vinyl when it finally comes out next month. Seek and Consume at any and all costs. For more info on Moon Women go to moonwomen.bandcamp.com.
