Replica 7
Recently Floyd asked me, "Do you like the song Plastic Bomb?" Annoyed, I informed him for the 666th time that I only listen to the record Pick Your King by Poison Idea. I explained to him that I didn't give a fuck about some song called Plastic Bomb that is by some shitty band. He informed me it was a Poison Idea song. This was a shock, I had no idea that Poison Idea recorded or released anything besides Pick Your King. So I looked into this song & it was good, but mostly it just reinforced my decision to exclusively listen to Pick Your King. This is a lifestyle choice I made 24 years ago, after hearing the Discharge album Grave New World. Did they get King Diamond to sing on that piece of shit? To shorten this long story, after hearing Plastic Bomb I decided that it might be OK to come out of my Punk music bomb shelter & hear something new, so I ripped opened a fanzine & decided to check out Replica.

When I first heard this 7" I was wasted & had no business being anywhere but in bed sleeping, but fuck it… I am an adult. When I put this record on, I immediately started to sing-a-long to the song Strings, "Coming from my arse! Coming from my arse! Coming from my arse!" Fuck yeah! Hardcore bands usually don't have lyrics that good! When I listened to the record a few days later I realized they were screaming, "Coming from my eyes!" What we have here are 5 Hardcore Punk tunes that are on the verge of drifting into Metal territory, but luckily stay on the Punk side of things. Hot Lixx Hulalan recorded this & it really shows in the guitar sound. I liked this record a lot & I assume the Crusty guy who brought his dog into the mosh pit would feel the same. I know I said this before, but I am gonna say it again, "Fuck the Crusty guy who brought his dog into the mosh pit!" If you like Antischism, Appalachian Terror Unit, Aus Rotten, or are just a fan of bands with names that begin with the letter 'A', this is for you!

Some of you may call "BULLSHIT" on me and accuse me of listening to other records besides Pick Your King & cite the other Music Reviews that can be found on the onethirtyeight.org website as proof.  Well, the truth is, I didn't listen to those records, I just looked at the record covers while watching Sons Of Anarchy & wrote my feelings about the episode I just watched. With that said, I didn't cry over Tara.

The vinyl is available from the Prank Records website by clicking here. The first song from this release is available as a free download, and you can go here to check that out. 'Like' the band on Facebook by clicking here.
