Written by Karl Bakla. ![]() I was just reading about the top ten serial killers in the world and was a bit surprised to learn that an American didn’t even make the top five, not that I wanted the U.S. to be the top dog in serial killing, I just assumed that as a people we excelled at it… this has nothing to do with this review, I just happened to read this before writing this… Since we are on the topic of killers, it is appropriate to say that this is a pretty killer demo! 12 poppy Punk Rock tunes, with Surf influenced guitar, & snotty vocals. This disc starts off with a song about having a dead beat dad, & as a father I wonder how’d it would feel to be a dead beat dad & have my own kid write a song like this about me, I’d be devastated! Luckily for my family I am just a drunk, & they don’t have the luxury of not having me around because I have nowhere else to go… Even though I like the song Dead Beat Dad’s I wish they would have put it in the middle of the demo since I don’t find it very representative of the rest of this release, the rest of the demo is much more melodic & has a sound that reminds me of what would happen if you formed a band building off the influence of the songs, Assured Mutual Destruction by Conflict, Boredom Is The Reason by M.I.A., & Moon Over Marin by the Dead Kennedys. Yes, it’s that good! So go to The Social Set’s Bandcamp and plop down the $3 for it you fucking cheap ass mother fucker! Thanks to Joey @ Record City (E. Charleston) for handing me this for review!
