Ha ha ha ha Why do people send me this shit? Seriously? Oh man, this is too funny. Well, if you really wanna know what I think about stuff like this, I can sum it up in 2 words - absolute fucking shite. Fucking ball-less, Auto tuned prefabricated pseudo-Metal bullshit that's softer than baby's diarrhea and just about as interesting. Lots of tuff guy screamed out vocals perfectly contrasted with the pretty, melodic singing, which goes just perfect with the triggered drums and undefined bass sound. Oh, and don't forget the keyboard flourishes, especially during the vocal interludes - soooo atmospheric! If I was an 11 years old boy with hairless nuts the size of raisins I might think this was interesting, but since I'm not, this shit can fuck right off. Next stop - Poseurville - getting off - Famous Last Words. Available from InVogue Records.

Hmmmmmm... I dunno. This isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, if that says anything... LOL On paper, this sounds like an absolute nightmare of a pairing, pinning these 2 once angry young entities onto each other and putting them in a studio and seeing what happens but honestly, I expected a lot worse. I really did. If you can get past Lou Reed's absolutely horrible caterwauling and lyrical nonsensical whining, which makes William Shatner sound like Pavarotti, and James Hetfield's needless vocal repetitions, there's some killer music being played by Metallica in the background, Damage Inc. sounding stuff, stuff that sounds a lot better than the shit that was released on Death Magnetic, that's for sure! If you dare give this release a listen and hear it for your self. Just avoid all the 11 minute plus songs and you'll be alright. Look, I think this release was doomed to fail, and was only produced to keep both bands relevant and in the public eye for way more than their allotted 15 minutes but hey, it is what it is and what it is is a shitty album from Lou Reed and Metallica. What else did you expect? LOL Available from Warner Bros. Records. Nice! Some kick ass Old School Punk Rock, put out by a bunch of crazy kids from New Yaaawk, perfectly suited for mid-afternoon skate ramp seshs with loads of beer, booze, broads and bong hits. Cerebral Ballzy sound like a cross between Christ On Parade and H.F.L., if you can believe that. Pretty good stuff. Really tight, fast and furious songs with song titles like Don't Tell Me What To Do, Puke Song and Underage Drink Forever. Classy, these guys are. I guess the most interesting thing about this release is that it came out on Adult Swim's record label, Williams Street Records, that I didn't know existed until this release. All that tells me is that someone in the band either works for, is friends with, or is currently blowing someone at AS. Kudos to them. :-) This is a great release from Cerebral Ballzy. It gives me hope that someone out there gets it. Check out the debut release from Cerebral Ballzy if you're in a Punk Rocking kind of mood. It's really good. ha ha ha I'm sure this is NOT the official title to this upcoming release from Philly's own Moon Women, but that's how Pitt sent me the MP3's, so that's how I'm labeling it. :-) I'm not even sure he wants me to review this, but I don't care, because this stuff is soooooo fucking good it would be a shame not to let everyone know about it. There's a soothing familiarity about this Moon Women release, in the fact that it sounds like an amalgamation of every post-Punk band that teetered on the line between avant garde, rhythmic art noise and heavy metal pomposity laced with delusions of grandeur. This is really, really really fucking good. Bright, jangly guitars with heavily effected vocal delivery with a danceable back beat. Think early U2, or Lords Of The New Church even. Catchy as fuck, discordant jingle-jangly guitar driven pieces of noisy sugary bliss that's really amazing stuff. The song Seventeen is just brilliant, and the thought of poor little Pitt being the moody little teenage subject of that song just makes me grin to no end. :-) This is going to be a fantastic piece of vinyl when it finally comes out next month. Seek and Consume at any and all costs. For more info on Moon Women go to moonwomen.bandcamp.com. |
