I was waiting for verification before commenting on this but I guess it's true since it's all over social media now, but yeah, JJ from IDFI passed away yesterday, and to say that it's shocking is a bit of an understatement. IDFI were a great band and JJ was the heart of the machine. He lived it, he breathed he, he loved it, and most importantly, he was real about it. One of the nicest guys ever, and a true supporter of the Local music scene in every sense of the word. I'm not sure on the details of what exactly happened but at this point it really doesn't matter. IDFI were recording new stuff and finally getting around to gigging about again, and I was looking forward to getting some new pics of IDFI and JJ and his crazy spiky pointed Doyle-esque Heavy Metal guitar and those crazy green neon strings of his. Every time I saw those green strings for sale at Guitar Center I always figured JJ was the only one buying them because he was the only guy I ever saw playing them. 😁 What a fucking loss. My condolences to his friends and his family and his band mates and everyone else that knew him. The dude was a monster rager on that guitar, and he will be missed, that's for sure. Go to the IDFI Facebook page to keep up on memorial services info (click here) and anything else going on with news and updates and such. I'll miss hanging around with him, and I'll definitely miss seeing him on the stage where he seemed most comfortable. Take it easy JJ. Go easy.. step lightly... stay free.

Since there's nothing going on locally music wise that's worth talking about, I've just been sitting back today with popcorn in hand reading the comments on the shitstorm that Bob started on Facebook by daring to have the opinion that any bands that play Punk Rock Boring are sellouts. Juvenile I know, but still, like, it's just his opinion, man, and I pretty much don't give a fuck about his opinion and neither should you. It's a bit different than mine, of course, but what's amazing to me is how lit everybody is about going out of their way to point out just how wrong Bob is about this, like he's ever been right about anything in his whole life!! 😁 The butt-hurt Punk enablers of that corporate rock festival are passionate about justifying their reasons for attending said old band bore fest, and the PCPP (PC Punk Police) are quick to point out just how good the snooze fest is for supporting and promoting the local music scene, and then there's the truly defeated old guys who were saying they only go to hang out and drink with their friends, with everyone calling Bob out on his BS, and Bob trying in vain to defend himself and his right to post his opinion on his Facebook profile, and I'm sitting back taking it all in because I got nothing better to do, biting my lip not to comment back and get involved in the shitstorm, because my point was going to be to everyone 'who cares?" and I didn't feel like wasting my time on such trivial BS. Maybe I've lost my thirst for keyboard combat and online confrontation, but I just saw it all as a waste of time. I mean in this day and age and with what's going on in the world right now who fucking cares? If you wanna go, go. If you wanna support Drumpf, support that asshat, fine. I don't care. I don't have to like it, but what I won't do is say you can't do it. Freedom of Expression means you're gonna hear some things you don't like, and that you might not even agree with, but that doesn't mean you have to listen to it. Don't like it then leave. Freedom of Choice. It's what you want. That's what makes America great, isn't it? Isn't it?? Funny how people seem to have forgotten that nowadays. Well this should be interesting... oh the possibilities if it works! 😈 |
