![]() Football? What's a football? ;-) #FireDennisAllen. That's all I'm saying... Latest additions to the website include the few photos I took of the Blooze Brothers playing the Double Clown a while back, and you can click here to check those out. Uhhhmmm, I went to AZ. for some gig and I took pictures of a band called Reject Riot playing @Mr. G's Roadhouse, and you can click here to check those out. Now let's see, again, I swear I posted these photos up before, but I guess I didn't, but the photos I took of Capitalist Casualties tearing shit up @The Artistic Armory can be viewed by clicking here. Did I mention that I'm losing my mind as of late? No? Good. Again, I swear theses pix were up too, but they weren't, obviously, so click here to check out the photos of Fuzz SoLow performing @Velveteen Rabbit I took a while ago. Click here to check out some pix I took of The Right Hand Men, a cool band who the Civilians played with at a Doll Hut gig a few months back, and click here to check out some amazeball photos of Mercy Music playing @Triple B's. That Brendan is one sexy beast, that's for sure. Hubba Hubba! ;-) Like the new watermark? Yeah, me too. I figure, since that little sticker brings out such anger and spite in people, it's best to embrace it and just keep it out there and in people's faces. You ever see my stickers around town, and they're just gouged out, covered up, scratched out, or someone tried to anyways, and it's never anybody elses, just that little ol' sticker for my website that nobody reads, so I figure, fuck it, people hate the sight of it that much, that's all the more reason to use it as a watermark on my photos. I used to think it was a wee bit obnoxious, but not no more! LOL Don't like it? Suck it. ![]() Speaking of Mercy Music, they're playing that Bob Mould gig @The Hipster House, aka what used to be known as the Bunkhouse, and you can click here to check out the Facebook event page for it. Bob Mould's new album, Beauty & Ruin, is pretty good. Kid With Crooked Face, Little Pills, Hey Mr, Grey, Tomorrow Morning, all classic stuff. Few songs are 'bleh', but whatever. Sounds like a fun gig but again, it's on a night when I got band practice, and I'm pretty useless after band practice - ask anyone - but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go. Bob Mould still puts on a good show. Plus, it's the record release party for the debut album from Mercy Music which is called When I Die, I'm Taking You With Me. It's gonna be a good gig. :-) Speaking of good things, the website now has a store, where you can now buy my spare junk, which is cluttering up my closets at an alarming rate. Shirts, CD's, spare body parts, whatever. It's all for sale and if you want any of it, you're more than welcome to give me your money for my crappy stuff. Follow the links to the side there or click here. Either or. "Interesting" gigs going on this week. Click here to see what all is going on these next few days, and if your band isn't listed as playing a gig, it's because your band sucks and I don't like you. Deal with it. Or maybe it's just because I'm lazy and haven't gotten around to adding it to the website. Either or. Oh, and Green Day tribute nights? *BARF* hahaha

Football? What's that? Is there a football season going on? LOL I went to sleep an hour before the Raiders / Gheytriots kickoff, expecting to wake up hours later to hear of a 56-6 drubbing to New England, but instead I woke up to read about a 16-9 loss, another close game the Raiders could of won, but not with a game plan soooo conservative that Ronald Regan tried to rise from the dead just so he could 'Like' it on Facebook. Those calling it a 'morale win' just don't get it. A loss is a loss, and I'm not giving up on the #FireDennisAllen bandwagon... Nope! Look for that to happen after we lose to the Dolphins in London. It's not like I'm not doing anything while I'm not watching football. I've been organizing the photo files on my computer, getting everything that I no longer use or need access to transfered onto my new portable hard drive, and while doing that I noticed that I forgot to post a whole lot of Pictures to the website. At least I don't think I did. I'm not sure why I didn't, because most of them were edited already, some were watermarked, and I could of sworn I posted all these pictures before, but I guess I didn't. Here's a list of stuff I just posted up to the website in the past few days. Pictures of The Lucky Cheats playing @ the LVCS Pictures of The Loud Pipes playing at the Dive. Photos taken by Jesse "Photo Joto" Nabers, and mucho, mucho Thanx! for that. I don't know what's going on with TLP, because practice has stopped and I've no clue if or when they will ever start up again. Phooey. Pictures of TheCore playing @ Backstage Bar & Billiards Pictures of Leather Lungs playing @ Velveteen Rabbit Pictures of The Business playing @ the Cheyenne Saloon. I could of sworn I posted these pix up before... didn't I?? Pictures of Wartorn playing @ Backstage Bar & Billiards Pictures of Battle Born @ Backstage Bar & Billiards Pictures of We Gave It Hell @ Southern Nevada Sports Center ![]() *whew* I also posted a couple of Music Reviews I finished editing - a Hated Youth write up by the legendary Colin Oscopy, which you can read by clicking here, and a review of the latest offering from Nests, written by moi, which you can read by clicking here. Barrio Bowl II was a huge success, Side boob is how out of state bands get people to check them out, Metal bands are pretentious, according to Kirby, and I heard nothing about that Bucket Flushh!! gig - which is a good thing for a house party I guess! :-) The Svetlanas, who may or may not be from Mother Russia, are playing the Artistic Armory mañana with New Cold War (will Janoff be back from Tour to sing with them? LOL), The Quitters, Three Rounds (who have a split 7" with God's America out that is fucking great), and The Blissins, who also, may or may not be from Mother Russia, but are probably from AZ. somewhere. A cool night of subversion on a Tues. night - BE THERE!! ![]() So where were you last night? I know you weren't at the Slaughter And The Dogs gig, because NOBODY was there! LOL Oh man, I can't remember the last time I've seen a band's gig that sparsely attended, Local or National acts included. Maybe Give 'Em Hell when they were playing mop up at the Double Clown one night, but even that's stretching it. Oh well. It's a good thing nobody was there, because every band that played sucked - mine included. It's called 'Practice ' for a reason people. It's not a bad thing, I swear... LOL Rule Of Thumb were the lucky ones, because they didn't play the gig for some reason... ha ha ha I think the general consensus of every band that played last night was that the less said about the gig, the better, and I think everyone involved just wants to put it behind them and forget about it. Unfortunately, video evidence exists, but I haven't the heart to post it up here. It's too gruesome. Much like watching the Raiders / Texans game just hours before the gig. Ouch. That was pretty gruesome too. Man, Sun. just wasn't much of a good day for me. I should of stayed in bed and slept... LOL Sat. was a much better day, because all I did was a whole lotta Simpsons watching and hearing everyone ranting about either the Surrounded By Thieves CD release party at the Double Clown, or they were carrying on about Pirates taking over the Dive bar. Strange days indeed. Congrats to Surrounded By Thieves on their latest release. You fuckers better save me one of those limited run of 500 red vinyl LP's! I never got my green vinyl version of that Desert Rats With Baseball Bats II release from Cody either. I don't know of anyone that did. Bastard. There was a write up on Surrounded By Thieves recently in the Review Journal, and if you haven't read it yet, you can click here to check that out. ![]() On Thursday, while all the Fashion Punx and Poseurs pretending to be Street Punx were converging on the Dive bar to see Total Ghaos play, I was getting my Metal on with Jeremy and Bob at the Prong gig @ the LVCS. Jeremy had the hook up through a friend that's Prong's road manager, so we hung out there and had a fun time. Prong were really good. Nothing spectacular, nothing over the top, just some good ol' fashioned American Metal that was a welcome change of pace to gigs I usually go to. Ya know, every now and then, you just gotta get your Metal on. I do it, you do it, who cares? I had fun, Prong were good, I got to watch a guy at the Brass The Lounge who was wearing a tee shirt that said "This is what AWESOME looks like" dance around to songs like Funky Cold Medina and Wild Thing. If that's not fun I don't know what is! LOL I gave the whole night a write up, and you can click here to check that out. I also posted the Pictures I took that night with my new fresh ass Canon EOS Rebel SL1 camera, photos of Prong (click here) and Rule Of Thumb (click here) that came out pretty good. I was fucking with settings and aperture and all sorts of shit like that, so some of them came out pretty interesting, to say the least. Me likey. :-) Speaking of write ups, I forgot to tell you that Zack Attack, aka everybody's favorite bar back at the Dive and Local skateboarding borracho, wrote up his little excursion to Ventura last month for the Nardfest II gig, and you can click here to check that out. It's Zack. He writes how he talks. If you know him, you'll love it. I wonder what ever happened to Karl Bakla? :-)
Everything's updated. The Breeders are playing tonight @ the Bunkhouse, and Junior Brown is playing @ Triple B's on Thurs., and you know who could care less? This guy right here!! ha ha ha Just like I don't care about all that fucking Drama between my friends about ripped off tee shirt designs and shit talking from the skanky new (old) girlfriend of an ex-band member / Friend on Instagram bullshit. I can understand that there's a point to be made, and all you people sitting on the sidelines putting in your two cents about everything doesn't help that point to get made, but I'm always a fan of Action over Words, and all that shit doesn't need to be played out on Facebook. Keep it real people. Let's get drunk and fight like dogs in the street, Fight Club style... ha ha ha Oh, and to those of you "stupied" enough to be poking a semi-sleeping lion, DO NOT cry like a little bitch when the lion lashes out at you and strikes you down with one of his claws. That's not how it's gonna go down, so fair warning. ![]() G.B.H. is cancelled!!! G.B.H. is cancelled!!! G.B.H. is cancelled!!! G.B.H. is cancelled!!! G.B.H. is cancelled!!! G.B.H. is cancelled!!! That's just in case you didn't hear about it already... heh heh Yeah, seems the ol' 'Visa's are a day late' excuse reared it's ugly head with that G.B.H. gig, and if you believe that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you. ;-) Suddenly that Mercy Music / Direct Hit! / Bombpops gig @ the Dive seems like a viable option, right? LOL Come on, you know you already charged your hair up, put your butt flap and bondage belt on, broke out your old denim vest covered in patches and badges, you're committed to going out tonight, go check out some bands playing at a place that's slowly becoming THEE place for Punk Rock music here in town. Wowsers. The Double Clown can suck it. Speaking of Mercy Music, their new album, When I Die, I'm Taking You With Me, was just released on iTunes yesterday, and you can click here to buy it, download it, stream it, whatever. I don't do anything with iTunes, and after reading on Facebook about how everyone was force fed a copy of U2's new album, I'm glad I don't! :-) Soooooooooo... what's the point of starting a QB with a rocket of an arm and have him only throw short or diagonal slant passes, never testing the safeties the entire game? Man, coaching needs to step the fuck up, because that was some shitty ass play calling during the Raiders game yesterday. Hours later and I'm still miffed about it but hey, at least it's football season, which gives me a reason to live for another 15 weeks. :-) ![]() I missed the Weirdos gig on Sat. My ride totally flaked out on me. Boooo. I had a chance to tag along with Jeremy to go to CA. to see Good Riddance at Alex's Bar in Long Beach, but decided to stay in state and see those old dudes the Weirdos at the Dive. Boy, was I stupid! I heard the Weirdos were great, but to be honest, I was dreading seeing them. The last few times I had seen the Weirdos, they were just terrible, I mean, embarrassingly terrible, almost as bad as when I saw Sham 69 @ Night Moves in Huntington Beach in 1990, but that's another story. I heard the Weirdos were good. I'm glad you all thought so. It just sucks when you see a band that you used to destroy yourself to just, not really going through the motions, but, just a step or two behind what they used to be, not doing their legacy any good, a shadow of their once glorious self. That's what I saw in the videos everyone was posting anyways. It will happen to you and your favorite childhood bands someday too, don't worry about it, and when it does, you can say, 'gee, Gilbert was right! This does kind of suck.' And what's with all this Vermin backlash? Weren't those guys 'The Cool Dudes' just a while ago? Man, you lose 1 TV show and the whole world turns it's back on you... LOL And there was no way I was making it to that My Man Mike gig on Sun. @ the Dive because, well let's face it, I'm not that cool anymore. I'm not one of those guys that's enamored of all things Japanese. Nope. ![]() I have a brand new camera and nothing to take pictures of!! hahaha It seems like everytime there's something going on, I'm busy doing something else, or I have nothing to do, and there's nothing going on. Like this gig going on tomorrow, Barghest and Dogma @ the Cheyenne Saloon. I would like to go to it, but it's on a Civilians practice day, and I'm pretty much useless after band practice, so no gig for me. Same with the G.B.H. gig on Weds. @ Triple B's. I got other non-Punk rock plans, so I'm not gonna be there. Have fun! G.B.H. is one of those bands that can still kill it (much like the Buzzcocks) by playing the old stuff that established them as the Legends they are and still sound good doing it. There are some cool gigs coming up this week... Prong... Slaughter And The Dogs... even the Total Ghaos gig has some cool opening bands supporting, so click here to go to the Gig Calendar page to get all the info on what's heppening around town, and if your band isn't listed on there, it's because you and your band sucks - simple as that! Oh - before I forget, click here to read the write up I gave The Quitters - Contributing To Erosion release, and click here to read the write up I gave to the self-titled Hoax release. I also posted the photos I took of Turbo Snail playing @ Mr. G.'s Roadhouse in AZ., complete with Paolo singing along, and you can click here to see those. I also posted those photos of Feather Static I took @ Morgan's Tavern in Riverside, CA., and you can click here to see those. Since I can't edit new pictures, I figure I better catch up on editing my old pictures... makes sense, don't it? :-) ![]() No, I don't know where that Sete Star Sept house party is going on tonight. I suppose you could look at this just improved flyer for the gig with the address on it to the left of these words here, but I wouldn't recommend it, because then you're gonna find yourself at a gig full of smelly, underage lunatics losing their collective minds, and you wouldn't wanna be a part of that, would ya? ;-) Have fun, and don't be the old guy at the house party. There's nothing worse than being THAT guy. ;-) New Noise Magazine, whoever they are, are streaming the upcoming Mercy Music album called When I Die, I'm Taking You With Me, and you can click here to give it a listen. I wish I could tell you how good or bad the album sounds, but I fell asleep listening to it! hahahaha I'm joking... or am I? Listen for yourself and see. ;-) Derek Carr named starting QB for the Raiders... YES!! #StartTheCarr :-) Everything's updated. Hope you're enjoying your Labor Day weekend. My new camera is the Best. Thing. EVER!!!! |
