There's a couple of cool gigs going on this weekend that I think you should be hyped about. The first one is going down on Friday with Deadhand and Three Chord Radio playing @ Favorites. Brendan is just back from his acoustic beard core crap busking tour, and so it should be a great night to catch the band rock the fuck out and blow the roof off the joint like they usually do. Three Chord Radio are a cover band that plays like, 90's Punk covers I think. I played a gig with them in Hendertucky but don't remember too much about them except that they played Rancid and Bad Religion covers. Phooey. Anyways, get off your lazy ass and check out a cool gig. I would be there, but there's no place for us handicapped people to sit. I should have a Photographer there though - if she's not too busy working on her Interpol pix... heh heh And then there's this gig going down on Saturday @ the Bunkhouse. Off With Their Heads, who I think, last played here for Punk Rock Bowling last year? I dunno, don't really care. I think I saw them play at the Bunkhouse before, don't remember digging them too much, but I'm not too sure about that thought either. Alzheimer's ya know. Anyways, the bigger deal about this gig is that it's TheCore's CD release show for their new album called Thunder Makers. As a proud member of American Buckshot, who bring the Thunder each and every time we play, and have been doing so for years, I take a small bit of umbrage at these young bearded upstarts declaring themselves Thunder Makers - perhaps a thunder making dual performance might be necessary, hmmm? LOL All kidding aside, this is a cool moment for TheCore, and I'm hoping to be there to celebrate it with them. Sal one night @ the Double Clown played me some unfinished tracks the band were working on, and the stuff sounded fantastic then, so I can only imagine what it's gotta sound like now! And with Holding Onto Sound on the bill as well, that just makes this a gig you don't wanna miss - especially if you're a lover of Beardcore! hee hee hee If you're at this gig and you're not sporting a beard, then you will be the odd one in the room and possibly subject to ridicule - unless you're a chick, of course... heh heh So come on out and celebrate their latest release with ThcCore!

I woke up this morning to find this email in my inbox with this outstanding announcement about Demon Lung getting signed to a major label. It seriously couldn't happen to a more deserving band. This is what happens when you're a real band and you get signed to a real label. I remember when I first saw them, playing in front of nobody, and I knew they had something special going on. I kept seeing them perform and I watched them transform into the Metal juggernaut that they are. This band deserves all their rewards and accolades, because they've earned each and every one of them through hard work and perseverance. Again, kudos to you Demon Lung. I wish you nothing else but even more success. Make Vegas Proud!! :-) Candlelight Records has announced the signing of Demon Lung. The Las Vegas-based quartet, featuring guitarist Phil Burns, bassist Patrick Warren, drummer Jeremy Brenton and vocalist Shanda Fredrick, is set to begin recording its full-length debut in the coming weeks at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California with producer Billy Anderson (Sleep, High On Fire, Eyehategod) for a spring 2013 release. The band commented: "We are very honored to join the Candlelight roster. To be included among such talented artists is very humbling, and we thank the great people at Candlelight for giving us the opportunity." Metal Hammer called Demon Lung's four-song demo, Pareidolia, "earthy yet horror-themed doom Metal a la Candlemass with an Acrimony groove." The magazine called Fredrick a "wild-eyed, satanic songstress." Popular music and film site Ave Noctum noted, "Demon Lung has a deft touch and solid sound. Their Music is clearly from the Soul. Fair to say they are a welcomed addition to the ranks of the doomed." Teeth Of The Divine added, "Fredrick has the requisite sultry pipes that keep a steady, hazy tone. She has a deep, bluesy voice that fits the languid music perfectly." Demon Lung has performed alongside Pentagram, High On Fire, Jucifer, Witch Mountain and Castle and will resume performing once recording has been completed. How fucking sick is that, right? Again, Congratulations to ya Demon Lung! I can't wait to hear how kick ass that recording is going to come out once it's done. :-) Cheers!
There's a real reason why shit doesn't get done on here, and it has to do with a certain someone who keeps me up all night, getting crazy with me, and giving me the greatest hopes and dreams ever, but it all comes with a price, a price which, given my present physical condition, is a bit difficult to pay and leaves me feeling weak and a bit drained. Oh well. And no, I'm not talking about Bob... ha ha ha No, I'm talking about Her, and she knows who she is... and so do a few other people too... heh
Anyways, first off, let me tell you about this gig going down tonight @ the Lounge inside the Palms casino featuring The People's Whiskey and The Scoundrels. A kick ass, rocking good time is guaranteed. I haven't been to this place yet, but if it's the same place that I played a disastrous gig while in Suite 666 (we played with Black Camaro... UGH!), then it's a good room to watch bands play and they have great waitresses for quick booze service. ;-) Come on out and Support! if you got nothing better to do tonight. I might be there, with my just returned Home hot shot professional Photographer Ashley Chance. <3 Check out her website Taken by Chance by clicking here to see some of her amazing work. OK, what's been added to the website as of late? Well, that damn cursed Show Review I did like 6 months ago of Unfair Fight's record release party for We Are The Dead, and you can click here to read that shit. I don't know why the layout kept getting messed up, and words I wrote (or think I wrote anyways) kept disappearing from it. Oh well. It's up, it's done, and with the slew of people turning in stuff for the website, I better get cracking and keep up with my stuff! LOL Good ol' Zack, aka Colin Oscopy (his Facebook name) turned in a Show Review for the D.R.I. Thrashgiving gig that went down @ the Bunkhouse a few days ago, and you can go here to read that. How was everybody's Thanksgiving anyways? Mine sucked this year because I spent it flat on my back in a Oxycontin stupor, wracked with pain and unable to even sit up for a few minutes. But at least I got my grub on - Thank You Roxie! XOXO Speaking of Show Reviews, Dean turned one in for the D.I. gig that we (American Buckshot) were supposed to play but didn't, and you can click here to read that one. Much better than the half finished one he turned in for that craptacular Horror Business gig we played @ the Sand Dollar... jeesh! :-) Thanks to Blue Tile Lounge for bringing us both of those reviews. Add them and Like their page on Facebook by clicking here to be kept abreast on what's going on here in Vegas regarding Punk Rock and Skateboarding. And speaking of craptacular, Bob, aka All Hail Bob, turned in a completely illiterate, barely comprehensible Show Review for a The People's Whiskey gig he went to @ the Double Clown a while ago, and you can click here to read that, if you can. Don't worry. It's short. Won't take you much time at all to get through it, and if you can tell me what it was about, please drop me a line @ [email protected] and enlighten me. :-) I think everything else on here that's been added as of late I've already mentioned, but if not, I'll get to it tomorrow. I gotta get out of here, because my leg is killing me. Pain pills take me away... Oh, I don't even know what to say about this! Thank You Jarret Keene and Seven magazine for the kind words. Maybe I'll have to start reading the shit rag now! ha ha ha Yeah right! Took me forever to find this blurb about me in between all the glossy ads for d-bag DJ's playing at clubs and well dressed whookers (whores/hookers) posing for pictures to show how 'Hott" and 'Cool' they are. Whatever. Jarrett does a good job trying to interject some sort of culture and info about the real Music scene into that magazine, and you can't fault him for that. Thanks again dude! I definitely owe you a drink or two... There's all sorts of stuff to mention that's been added to the website as of late, but I just can't do it. I'm tired, in pain, and just can't drag myself to do it. I'm getting better every day though, so eventually, everything will all get up to date and up to speed on here... hopefully... heh heh
Well, I guess the question of the hour is if American Buckshot is going to play this gig on Friday. To be honest, your guess is as good as mine. I'm wracked with pain, but I'm able to walk around for short bursts of time, but it comes with a lot of effort and stress and I'm kind of hunched over when I do it. I feel like a worthless lump but I think I'm making progress. 2 other Local bands, N.E. Last Words and Roid Rage, have been added, so if we don't play it won't be THAT big of a deal. I'm taking it day by day, so we'll see. It should be a fun gig regardless. Come out and work off some of that post Thanksgiving day turkey flab by bouncing around while D.I. plays all the songs you all know and love. There are worse ways to spend a Black Friday night. My recent injury has me Thankful for a lot of things, especially my Friends who have been helping me out as of late, bringing me food and crutches and taking me to the Dr.'s and all that stuff you take for granted when you're no longer able to walk. I seriously love each and every one of you, and I couldn't do any of this without your help. Again, I'm seriously Thankful for everything you all do for me. I'm also Thankful that this Aluminum Falcon recording is officially being released! LOL It's been a long time coming, that's for sure. It's called Finally, and you can listen to it and purchase it on Google Play by clicking here, and on CD Baby by clicking here. The link for Soundcloud is right below here. Check it out and lemme know what you think about it. It was recorded here in town @ Camel Hump Studios by John "Plastic Bag" Brown and mixed by Paul Miner, who's worked with Death By Stereo and New Found Glory, among others. I'm really proud of how this came out. The actual, physical CD will be available for purchase real soon. The artwork that Andy from Surrounded By Thieves did for it is incredible. Some new stuff added to the website to bring to your attention, like the stuff Karl Bakla has been turning in, Music Reviews on the latest from the Post Teens (click here to read that) and the Dee Cracks (click here to read that), a Ramones type band from Austria. I finally straightened out my review of the Unfair Fight 7" (click here to read it), and the photos of The Vermin playing at the Double Clown were posted. Click here to check those out. Yeah, lots of stuff coming up on here. There's lots of catching up to do. :-)
P.S. Happy Birthday Talitha - I love you! XOXOXOXO |
