I know I've been slacking as of late, but it's such a beautiful day today that I'm gonna be running around everywhere, but there's some cool stuff going on tonight, like this: Plus this little bit of Crusty Punx goodness, featuring the Naturals / N.F.F.U. / Paranoid Freakout: And the aforementioned Tinglerz / Naked City Romeos / Agent 86 gig happening @ the Double Down tonight: I even toyed with the idea of going to Extreme Thing, but then I remembered that there is hair on my balls, and so I would have no interest in any of the bands playing, whoever they are... LOL Everything's updated - check out The Waking Light / Aluminum Falcon / Battle Born pictures from the Cheyenne Saloon from a while back - the Knock Out photos are coming real soon. I gotta do those Barrington Levy pictures first though. :-)

It started out like this: Dude! Did you see that Ben Weasel video? Well of course I had. I don't live under a rock anymore, and I'm pretty up on what's happening in the big ol' underground Punk Rock web 'zine world. I'd seen it a dozen times already by the time I got this email. So I replied that I had seen the video, and wondered why they asked. How come you're not talking about it on the website? Especially after what happened to Blondie. Hmmmm... well, considering that the 2 incidents are miles apart in comparison, you're an idiot for thinking that the 2 things are even remotely related. The Ben Weasel thing is about some chick hassling him and challenging him and physically assaulting him with ice and beer and being ignorant enough to step up to his challenge and getting what she deserved, pretty much, and the Blondie thing involved a chickenshit act of cowardice against a girl that was just victimized for the sole reason of being smart enough to finally dump some dickless loser and trying to move on with her Life. For that, she was cracked in the head with brass knuckles by a piece of living schmegma. Like I said, the 2 acts couldn't be farther apart if you tried. People truly are stupied. If you haven't seen it yet, here's the video everyone's talking about. I find it interesting that this thing had tongues a wagging in the PFR community, with all the flash words of Misogyny, Sexism, and Chauvinism being thrown about. I know it's wrong to be violent towards anyone, Man or Woman, but sometimes you gotta step up and do what ya gotta do. What did that first girl expect was going to happen to her when she went up to the stage? Did she think Ben was going to kiss her? LOL It's Sexist to think that you can throw ice and spit beer on someone and get away with it because you're a girl. Fuck that. Don't play the Game and then cry when things don't go as planned. That's just ghey. And that 2nd chick got what anyone who has ever tried to break up a fight, Man or Woman, knows all about, and that's the errant punch. How was Ben supposed to know that the person approaching him from behind and putting their hands on him was a chick? That's a hard determination to make in the heat of battle. She didn't have to get involved, Security was handling it, but she did, and she got shoved and punched because of it. Boo fucking Hoo. And the Hypocrisy involved in the heated discussions going on in message boards across the Internet is amazing. Some say she had it coming, others say a guy should never hit a girl - EVER - and that notion is just wrong. That's Sexist. She wanted a reaction, and she got it. No crying about how it was wrong after the fact. It can't be both ways. It just can't. You can't antagonize or aggravate or provoke someone and not expect to get what's coming to you, especially if you're a girl and you play that whole 'guys shouldn't hit girls' card. That's bullshit, and borderline Chauvinism. You can't be all 'Equality for All!' and then make exceptions to that rule. "Talk Shit - Get Hit" - isn't that the rule? hee hee hee Yeah, whatever. It irks me even more seeing people I know on Facebook and Myspace getting all hypocritical about it with their 'I lost all respect for Ben Weasel and won't support anything he does anymore or buy his music'. Yeah right. Sanctimonious much? The indignation is shocking - where was all this when the whole Blondie thing went down? Some of those same people at the time were like "I can't comment", "I don't wanna get involved" or the ever classic "I wasn't there. I didn't see it." And now, suddenly, they're fired up and against violence against women, because they saw it on YouTube. Fucking Hypocrites. Phooey. Whatever. Looks like the little Las Vegas Punx are growing up. Gee, how cute! Having to deal with the Realities of Life sure can humble you, no doubt about that. :-) hahahaha Whatever. Look, to get back to the point, what Ben Weasel did was justified and understandable and to paraphrase Chris Rock, I'm not saying what Ben Weasel did was right, but I understand. ;-) But what happened to Blondie was 100% wrong, no matter how you look at it. Glad to see that SOME of you out there are finally starting to see it that it was, albeit 3 years too late. Oh well. Better late than never I guess.
Everything's updated. Pictures of The Waking Light and Battle Born from the Cheyenne Saloon were just added to the website. I'm gonna go back to listening to Stern and waiting for my phone to ring. <3 Ya know, only I could get involved in Drama at a Barrington Levy gig! LOL The fights, the yelling, the drinks getting thrown at me, Drama seems to be attracted to me like iron to a magnet. Pretty funny stuff, all of it and it didn't take away one bit from how fucking PHENOMENAL Mr. Levy was! Gawd damn did the Man just slay it this weekend. Disappointing turnouts at both gigs he did had to be a disappointment to him, but he said it reminded him of when he first started out in the music business, and that no matter what size the crowd was, he was gonna give them a good show, and man did he ever! Murderer, Under Mi Sensi, Black Roses, She's Mine, Prison Oval Rock, Teach The Youth, Broader Than Broadway, Too Experienced, Work, I don't think there was a hit that he didn't play over both nights! Him playing 2 different sets had me soooooooooooo grateful that I went to both gigs. To witness a Legend in an intimate setting like that was breathtaking. Life affirming. Barrington Levy. Love and Respect.
I have no idea what's going on in the Punk Rock world... hahahaha I think the LVCS feud is over. That was fun while it lasted. And if I hear one more word, Positive or Negative, about that one band I'm gonna puke! LOL They practice in the same building as me. I know. :-) Anyways, everything is updated and I got lots of stuff to do. I'm sure there's stuff going on this week but I have no idea right now. I gotta go Google all the info I can about the Holiday Killer being in the new Batman movie. I'm more hyped on that than the fact that Anne Hathaway is playing Catwoman... *barf* I find it funny how the line ended up dividing it all. Either you got it or you didn't. The majority of people who got it were of a "youthful" mind set, and those that didn't were generally old grumpy butts! hahaha Hey, some folks just don't like getting involved in anything and as long as it doesn't affect them or their lives, they blissfully go along with whatever is easier for them. In the 1940's you called those people French! ;-) hahahaha Aaaahhhh who cares? It's all over now but nothing's changed for me. You play that place you're a doooooooosh. You support it you're an idiot. Simple enough. My opinion, that's all. Sorry that others seem to agree, whether they'll publicly state it or not. I have the greatest conversations with people after stuff like this happens.
Barrington Levy tonight and tomorrow. Oh GAWD do I need these gigs. I need the healing powers of Reggae music to soother my Soul right now. Not really, because none of the Drama gets to me, but it sounds good, right? ;-) Lots of stuff going on this weekend. Hope to see you all around somewhere - even those who say they're gonna beat me up! hee hee hee |
