I love Limp Bizquik as much as anybody else 😁 so with that in mind, here's the just released N.E. Last Words video for the song Game Changer, the first single from the band this year, and the first with their new front man Chemist, who's also behind Rhymeland Studios, the group responsible for shooting and editing the video. Congratulations Brian and Jameson, shit looks good but why weren't you guys doing the tricks on the skateboards? Why was it Jason Thurtle? 😊

The lesson learned here this past weekend I think is that you can NEVER take Zack Attack on a road trip... ever!!! ha ha ha ha He was obnoxious from the get go, showing up late with a bag of brews and pounding them all the way to the gig nonstop. He wandered off once we got to the Doll Hut, called me right as I was dragging my gear on stage to ask me to pick him up because he was lost, and once he arrived he tried to weasel his way into the gig for free and once inside he was cut off by the bartender for being too drunk. He resolved the problem by drinking in the parking lot with the band C.O.T., the band he went there to see and totally missed out on, and then got upset with security for getting mad at him for being a borracho in public! 😅 Then to top everything off he tried hitting on my friends wife, and when told she was married, he said he didn't give a fuck and wanted to kiss her anyways... lol Oh that kid! I threw him in my car before my friends chin checked him and we sped off into the night, where Zack was being his usual drunk, obnoxious, aggravating self, and I made it to the base of the Cajon pass going up to exit 138 before slamming on the breaks and throwing Zack out of my car. I sped off and left him there to fend for himself. He almost made it to the shoulder of the freeway before getting hit by an RV and being put in the hospital, where he still is apparently... heh I paid no attention to the bands that played while I was at the gig, as I was busy hanging out watching the Disneyland fireworks and listening to the Jim Monroe mixes for the Headnoise stuff, which sounded pretty fantastic, and talking to people who flew in from Chicago, drove up from Mexico and came from all sorts of crazy places in California just to see Headnoise play. Pretty powerful stuff. That's why I had no patience for Zack and his bullshit. Wasn't gonna let that drunken little shit ruin such a great night. Nope. 😎 One gig was great, the other gig was a glorified shitty rehearsal. Friday nights gig at the Double Clown was fantastic. Great turnout, lots of crowd interaction, lots of circle pit action bruh, and lots of good vibes all around the place, and it was so crowded in there I had to have people clear a pathway through the crowd so I could get my kit out. Who knew cover bands were such a draw? LOL I was gonna take a picture of the sizable crowd and post it on somebody's timeline with a snarky remark commenting about how this is what the place looks like when it's really crowded, but didn't feel like being so petty. And besides, it was too easy. 😉 I think Vegas Threat went over the best, only because the music, its easier to slam around to when you're drunk and hyped up, and that seemed to be what the crowd wanted to do so there ya go. Glad we could provide the background soundtrack to your drunken debauchery. You're welcome! LOL Generator played their set and it might as well of been a record of Bad Religion playing because the tunes they were throwing out sounded just like the official versions released. They play the songs really fucking good... can't say that about Vegascendents or Vegas Threat though, because I'm always playing the songs faster than they are on the albums, with my logic being that good bands always play faster live (YouTube any Minor Threat live video for proof) and so should we. Didn't stick around for Fallen OUT, because they were going on at 3 in the morning and I'd much rather be sleeping in my bed passed out at that time of the morning so homewards bound I went. All in all though it was a fun night. Special thanks to my old pal Melo for not taking my money all night long... heh And I think the less said about this gig the next day the better... ha ha ha ha Next day, same bands pretty much except for Fallen OUT, who weren't making the trek out to Bullhead City with us for some reason. Same lineup in a different state. Nice. The drive out to Bullhead City is short and sweet... for me anyways. I'm used to driving to CA for Headnoise gigs for 4 hours sometimes just to get there, so for me an hour there and an hour back for a gig is a cakewalk. More gigs in Bullhead City please! LOL I was the first to get there, so I just sat in my car playing Empires & Puzzles on my phone while waiting for Mike to come by and suss things out, and once he did I started to drag my gear into Lazy Harry's, and while I was doing so some guy pulls up in a taxi and asks me what type of music is being played here tonight, and without missing a beat I told him both kinds - Country and Western! The reference went right over his head, but he continued asking questions, what type of band were we, what type of music do we play, etc., and finally he goes will you be playing any Lynyrd Skynyrd and I told him, of course, and that we would play Freebird for him, and he screamed out oh Hell no! I don't wanna hear that shit and promptly got back in his cab and left... 😂 Meanwhile we should of actually played Freebird, because it would of sounded more together than Vegas Threat did... phooey! I don't know what the fuck happened with those guys, something in the water maybe, but yeah, less said the better. We didn't even make it all the way through the set before calling it quits. Embarrassing, to say the least. Vegascendents did good, but too bad nobody was there to see it! LOL After playing I packed up and went Home, not even sticking around to say goodbye to my old friend and tour mate Wes from The Half Empties, who's running things at Lazy Harry's now. The Loud Pipes went on a legendary 2 week run with those lunatics in The Half Empties and they quickly learned that they couldn't out-party us doods from Vegas... nope! ha ha ha ha It was good to see him and it's a good incentive to get me back to Bullhead for some gigs. But what's up with that barrier though? 😁 hahahahaha of all the people I never expected to see at a Headnoise gig was the ol' sour spawn of Satan himself Joe '666" Stone, but there he was with his girlfriend Ashley in tow, hanging out and making the scene like the rest of us at the Doll Hut on a chilly Friday night in So Cal. I had Bob in tow, of course, and I was hoping he wasn't going to lose my new kick pedal like he lost my last kick pedal at the Viper Room when Headnoise played there last time! LOL At least he paid me back for it though - cash too, so I gotta give him props for that. And props to Rikk Agnew for finally remembering who I am and remembering all the things we've done together! LOL Meth is a hell of a drug kids, that's all I'm saying. 😁 It was good to finally talk to him for real reals. I mean, I always say 'hi' to him whenever I see him, and he's always just gave me that head nod "hi whoever you are" look and been on his merry way (like he did the last time I saw him at The Dive Bar for the Radolescents / Civilians gig) but at this gig he came up to me as soon as Headnoise was done playing (we went on first) and was like, isn't your name Gilbert? Don't I know you? And I was like yeah, Rikk, you know me... 😂 We talked about playing gigs together, recording with each other, sharing rehearsal space together, everything. He loudly told everyone that came up to us while we were talking that he knew me for over 25 years now, and while it's actually a bit longer than that, I didn't mind the error. I was just happy to be taking to my ol' pal again. I've missed him. He's been helping out Headnoise with a bunch of stuff and promised me that we'll be playing some more gigs together in the future. Can't wait to see how THAT'S gonna turn out... ha ha ha Couldn't tell you a thing about the rest of the gig or about any of the bands that played. Talked to Dave and Al from M.D.C. for a little bit after we played, said goodbye to Joe Stone and everyone else that was there like Pastor Rob, (missed my heterosexual life mate Jeremy who got there after I left) then literally jumped back into the ride with Bob and grabbed some coffee before making the trek back up the 15 to the Cajon Pass to be back Home by 1 in the morning to sleep in my own bed. The things I do for my friends. 😁 |
