This could be the best news I hear all year.
3 charged in 1998 skinhead killings outside Vegas By KEN RITTER Associated Press LAS VEGAS -- Three people identified as white supremacists were indicted Wednesday on capital murder and weapons charges in what a federal prosecutor described as execution-style ambush slayings of two skinhead group members who advocated racial tolerance. Authorities said an investigation that took more than 13 years led to the charges against Melissa Hack and her brother Ross Hack, who could face the death penalty if convicted. A third person, Leland Jones, faces charges including aiding and abetting a crime of violence and committing a crime on federal land. Jones was 17 at the time of the killings on Independence Day weekend 1998, so he could face a maximum of life in prison without parole if convicted. Melissa Hack, 35, and Jones, now 31, pleaded not guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Carl Hoffman, who ordered both held in federal custody pending trial in May. Ross Hack, 40, is serving time at a federal prison in Arizona on an unrelated federal passport fraud conviction. His appearance date wasn't immediately set. The slayings of Lin Newborn, 24, and his friend and Air Force member, Daniel Shersty, 20, drew national attention on a subculture of moderates within a group usually considered extremist and united by hatred of non-whites. Bliss said prosecutors will show that the Hack siblings and Jones were affiliated with a neo-Nazi white supremacist group when they committed what she termed as a "deliberate, premeditated, heinous" double-homicide involving two handguns and a shotgun and "driven by racial hatred." One of the men was left wounded "to linger and die," Bliss told the judge, while the other was chased across the desert and shot to death. Attorneys Brent Bryson and Gabriel Grasso, representing Melissa Hack, and James Hartsell for Jones, tried to convince the judge to let their clients remain free pending trial. Hoffman deemed them a flight risk and a threat to the community. The lawyers declined to comment outside the courtroom. Melissa Hack was the girlfriend of white supremacist John "Polar Bear" Butler, a former leader of the Independent Nazi Skins and the only person previously charged in the case. Butler, now 40, was convicted in state court in 2001 of murder and other charges, and was initially sentenced to death. His sentence was later reduced, and he is serving a life without parole in at a state prison in Indian Springs, about 45 miles north of Las Vegas. Shersty, who was white, was from Lake Mary, Fla., and was stationed at Nellis Air Force near Las Vegas. Newborn, who was black, was a body piercing artist in Las Vegas. Prosecutors say they belonged to a group known as the Anti-Racist Action Group, sometimes dubbed Skinheads against Racial Prejudice. Bliss said the two were lured by Melissa Hack and another woman into the desert on a ruse and shot dead by Butler, Ross Hack and Jones the night before their bodies were found on July 4, 1998, federal land north of Las Vegas. 14 years... Holy Shit Ballz. Doesn't seem that long ago at all, but thinking about it now, it seems like a whole different time and place for a whole different world I used to live in. Revenge is a Dish that is Best served cold. If you don't believe in Karma, than maybe you should re-evaluate your Beliefs. Fuck these pieces of shit. I hope they all get the chair, or lethal injection, or at least a long, miserable life full of suffering, misery and strife behind bars. Spit and I butted heads on all sorts of things, mostly Egos and Punk Rock related, but what happened to him has never sat well with me. I don't know if him and Danny are finally getting Justice, but it's nice to see that some of those responsible are getting what's coming to them. That thought makes me break out into a big ass grin. Maybe now Spit and Danny can finally rest in peace. Lord knows they deserve at least that.

Good Morning! Tomorrow is the 29th of February! Leap Year! I wish I was going to Disneyland to film a video like the guys from Deadhand are. The place is open for 24 hours on Leap Day, which could be pretty awesome. Disneyland must be fun at 3 in the morning, you could probably get away with a lot more stuff... heh heh heh Have fun dudes. Make sure to get some of those commemorative Mickey Mouse ears while you're there. ;-)
I haven't been doing shit as of late. Band practice, avoiding sick people, not being invited to Bachelor parties and avoiding Drama at Birthday parties and hanging out with Sin is pretty much all I'm doing as of late. The website suffers but my Heart does not. I don't go to gigs as much, which is kind of a bummer, but on the other hand, the payoff is well worth what I'm missing out on. <3 Everything is updated. Thanks to everyone for coming here for whatever reason. The numbers for the website are going through the roof as of late, and I can't imagine why. Maybe I should not update it as often as I do? LOL OK - it's Official - This gig for Eric from the Naked City Romeos is happening on Friday! LOL I only know that because Emma from the Seriouslys made a flyer for the gig! :-) The Seriouslys, the Fremonts, and, of course, the Naked City Romeos (or, as Turbo calls it, the Bacon City Rodeo) will all be playing in celebration of Eric's 50th year on Earth. That's quite an accomplishment if ya ask me! Anyways, stop on by and bring the guy a gift or buy him some drinks and have fun with some of the cooler people in town, who will be both hanging out and playing on stage. And if you haven't already, head over to the Seriouslys Reverb Nation band page by clicking here and check out the songs and video they have posted on there. The songs sound killer. Where the Hell were they recorded at? Kudos to whoever mixed them. They're nice and LOUD! :-) And the video is pretty cool too. It's for a song called Kick Me Out that I can recall the band playing a few times that I saw them. The video seems to be more about the Double Down than the song, but whatever. It's still cool. Check it out below. There's this pretty cool thing going on Saturday afternoon in Boomer's parking lot. It's a Punk Rock Swap Meet/Garage Sale where Local Musicians and Artists will be selling used gear, band merch, art, photos, used household goods, crafts, jewelry, clothing and a bunch more stuff, so if you're looking for some deals then stop on by! There's gonna be some bands playing (.Bipolar / The Fat Dukes Of Fuck / Mechanical Death) and a food truck for all of you with the munchies. ;-) Or, if you don't wanna eat there, head over to Yayo Taco afterwords to see Local bands Dead Neon and Spun In Darkness playing with some heavy ass bands from Arizona with names like Godhunter, Inoculara and Blister Unit. The gig starts @ 6, so get there early to check out all the bands. You should definitely check out this gig rather than that shitty Angry Samoans gig going down @ the Cheyenne, that's for sure. I don't know how that band is even still around, and after that last gig of there's @ the Beauty Bar a while back, I don't know how they can even be comfortable playing here! LOL Give it up guys. Seriously. :-) Everything is updated. Pictures of the Quitters were just added, and you can check them out by clicking right here. That Roddy Radiation (from the Specials) gig is happening tonight @ the Aruba, but I don't think that I'm going to that, but check it out if you're so inclined. It might be fun. :-) Have a great weekend. See ya around somewhere.
Uhhhmmm... so exactly what happened at that Orgy show anyways? LOL
It's been a very draining weekend, to say the least. Doing stuff not website related is much more appealing right now than anything else, but I had to sit down and post these Pigasus photos up - click here to check them out. I'm always curious as to what people do with the pictures they take at gigs - I rarely see any of them - but there's been a lot of photos being shared on Facebook from Pigasus' last gig @ the Motor City Cafe, so I thought I'd jump on that bandwagon and get my photos around before I forget about them. :-) I'm gonna get those pictures of the other band that played that night, The Swamp Gospel, up ASAP. That band is comprised of some real heavyweights. It features ex-Muffs, Tommyknockers, and Dirty Babies! Their Cramps derived sound was pretty cool to hear, and I'm looking forward to seeing them again. Everything's updated. Happy Birthday to Annie, Eric from the Naked City Romeos (his birthday gig is this Saturday I think) and my favorite Homosexual Pitt, who I made a special cake for. ;-) Enjoy! I don't know if the Darkness have ever played Vegas before. If they did, I didn't see them. There was no way I was missing this, because it was just too perfect. A great chance to talk shit on a Friday night. ;-) The band has recently reformed with all original members, and they just released a new MP3 single / video for the song Nothing's Gonna Stop Us, which you can check out and download for free at the bands website www.theactualdarkness.com. The song was better live is all I'm gonna say. :-) But yeah, I hate going to 'concerts', and I hate the House of Boooooo's with a passion, but for the Darkness, I made the effort. And it was sooooo worth it. :-) They opened up with Black Shuck, and then they all changed guitars and basses, and went into Growing On Me, and I was done. They were soooooo fucking good! They had an annoying habit of changing all their guitars and basses in between every song, and only Givin' Up / Stuck In A Rut were played back to back without a guitar and bass change. Whatever. When you're total Rockstars like the Darkness I guess you can do that. They played everything I wanted to hear, like Street Spirit (Fade Out), the Radiohead cover, and stuff from the 2nd album One Way Ticket To Hell... And Back, like the title song and Is It Just Me, and every great song off of Permission To Land. Beautiful. Justin's voice sounded incredible live and the band sounded fantastic. A Rock N Roll Machine. The best sounding early era AC/DC band crawling around the trenches today they are, and I had a great time. Except for the crowd. I wanted to kill every Tool and Dooshbag in the audience, including the big 6' 4" gay guy sporting a Ride The Lightning era Metallica shirt that I was standing behind who I kept spitting on, because he kept blocking my view. Every time he did I spit on him, and he didn't even notice. Whatever. The capper to all that is when he french kissed his little bearded boyfriend when the band played I Believe In A Thing Called Love. It was their song, and they totally waited all night to hear it. You could totally tell. They took Facebook arm extended pictures of themselves too. I was touched, and immediately headed for the exit... LOL I'm just kidding, but still, it was pretty ghey. I'm glad the Darkness have that appeal. We all need some Pomp, Bombast, and Theatrics in our Music, and the Darkness do all that and more for me. Yup. To commemorate the event I bought a tour shirt with a giant prawn on the front. Why a prawn? I have no idea. It looked cool, is all I can say... heh heh heh
I heard nothing but great things about all the gigs this past weekend - the Pixies tribute show, and the T.S.O.L. / Guilty By Association / Civilians gig. Civilians - you guys made a bunch of new fans - Congratulations! Fuck, it's such a cool time here in the Las Vegas Music Scene right now. Watching your Friends play gigs is fun, playing gigs is better, and playing gigs with your Friends is always the Best. Everything's updated. I gotta get back to the front room. :-) Oh my fucking GAWD!! If this isn't enough to make you throw up whatever you had for breakfast or lunch today, then I don't know what is. I thought the thing had jumped the shark before, but now, not only has it jumped the shark while wearing flaming hot pink booty shorts, but it also crashed into Arnold's Chicken Wings shack after landing on the other side... heh heh heh What a fucking farce! All these bands are more suited of playing the Double Down, Bunkhouse, or any other small club here in town, which most of them already have. Remember when Sham 69 played the Emergency Room a few years back? Probably not, because nobody was there. But now that they're playing a big festival, all the sheep in Vegas are baaaaa-ing about how awesome it is that Sham 69 is finally playing Vegas. Fucking tools. Just like how a few of the 'Cool Kids' here in town were crowing about that Bronx show at the Double Clown a few days ago. "The Bronx never play on a weekday in a small club." Really? Didn't I see the Bronx play at the Beauty Bar on a Weds. night just a few months ago? Whatever. I guess unless Sailor Jerry sponsors it, it doesn't happen. Fuck off. And I love that Old Man Markley is playing PRB AGAIN. After Shawn Stern himself told a friend of mine that PRB doesn't let bands play the festival 2 years in a row, I can't help but laugh at his hypocrisy. Must be nice to be the Stern's fluff girls. ;-) Anyways, much like last year, I'm gonna be staying the fuck away from this public Fleecing of the Sheep. "Plus more great bands to be announced." it says at the bottom of the line up. Me? I'm still waiting for 1 great band to be announced... heh
Tomorrow night I have a dilemma. Do I go see the Darkness @ the HOB, or do I go see T.S.O.L. @ the Bunkhouse? That Pixies tribute show @ the Royal Resort is also going on tomorrow night, but I was never that big of a fan of the Pixies, so Meh. I thought the Naked City Romeos were playing the Motor City Cafe on Sat. night, but I think I got the dates wrong. 3d6 and The Fat Dukes Of Fuck are playing @ the Bikini Bar on Sat., but I dunno if I'm gonna make that. Same with that Orgy show @ the Aruba on Sun. That place is doing a whole bunch of stuff show wise, but now that I found out that Brian Saliba is behind it, all I can say is enjoy it while it lasts. University Theater - anyone remember that? No, probably not, and that's just the way Las Vegas likes it. Forget your Past. Celebrate what's happening Now, no matter that it's neither Original, Interesting or Cute the 2nd, 3rd or 4th time around. Keep the Masses distracted and you can get anything done and approved. That's the American Way!! ;-) |
